G5x - loading via the USB cord and a powerbank?

Just bought a G5X. Buy an extra battery because of comments I've read on the battery life.

Setting everything up, take some photos and read the manual.  He mentions the USB cord in option and the possibility to connect it to the computer directly to load and do not have to use the AC adapter as an option or using the USB option and the optional adapter to plug into the wall.   No mention is made in regard to connect it via the USB port in to a power Bank.  I have a Bank of RAVPOWER which I use to load my Galaxy 6 and my iPad from time to time.  The specifications are:

capacity, 16770mah / 61.9wh, entry Screemy/2, output dc5v / 4. 5 a total max.

Search Bank powerbank and power on the forum, but is not come with anything so thought I would ask if we use power load up and if it works well or not.

Thank you.

Your camera battery is only a 1250 mah 4 battery 5wh your powerbank should do the job nicely!

The camera will only build the power he needs to load the regarless of powerbank power capacity,

I use power also for various devices that are a fraction of the capacity of power

If I connect my laptop to friends to my computer via the USB cord so that she can get on the internet, if there is nothing wrong on my computer like a virus or something bad, he can go on to the laptop? And if I have a wireless router & it connects to the internet in this way, can get the same bad things in his laptop? I know that sounds pretty lame, but I don't have a laptop.

First of all, it is doubtful that you could find a USB bridge cable to connect two computers, and even if you did, it would be difficult to configure things to enable the second computer to access the Internet.  (But see http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Connecting-Two-PCs-Using-a-USB-USB-Cable/248)

The good way to share your Internet connection is using a router (wired or wireless, any - except convenience).  But it is certainly possible for the virus to spread on a network, it is unlikely as long as each computer has an antivirus application to update and Windows Firewall (or a good third party firewall) is enabled.

If you don't want to buy a router (and note that a router is very good for you security protection even if you only have one computer), you can connect the two computers with a cable 'cross-over' (a special type of cable Ethernet) and of XP Internet connection sharing.

If you wish, you can disable 'file and printer sharing' on computers or both to further isolate them from each other.  Details vary for different versions of Windows.  Here's how in XP: http://compnetworking.about.com/od/windowsfilesharing/ht/enable_disable.htm

  • I am running Vista Business SP2 and my machine don't allow / recognizes any device that I attached via the USB port such as card readers digital camera, IPOD, etc.

These devices appear in Device Manager under "other devices" and I am invited to the drivers that I don't have to install. Microsoft fix it detects that there is a problem but does give some answers. I checked with device manufacturers and there is no driver available for download (supposed to be plug-and-play). This seems to be a common problem... What is the answer?

Canon has attempted to address the problem and they came to the conclusion that it is a Vista operating system problem. I've seen several postings of similar problems - is there a solution?

When I plug my iPhone USB port 7 more in my car (15 Jeep Grand Cherokee), the artist/song/podcast information appears on the screen, but the sound plays through the speakers of the phone.  I have confirmed that my settings are all the same as they were on my 6s, who played without any problems via the USB connection.  Bluetooth streaming works fine - no problems at all.  Any ideas, or is this a problem similar to that people have with CarPlay?

The iPad does not support USB keys. There are some wireless flash drives that can be used, but not the classical records. I suggest you transfer files to a computer and their synchronization then back to the iPad via iTunes.

How many devices you try to connect?

What you are trying to connect via USB?

Are - what you happened to try to use the HP Support Assistant?

Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant, if you not him have not yet tried. Simply download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that need updated.

Here are other troubleshooting steps that may help too. If the USB device does not appear in Device Manager, then it might be a question of power requirement. Unplug the machine and perform the following steps until the device is detected:

    • Reboot the laptop
    • Plug in and wait five seconds.

    • If the device does not appear, try connecting to another USB port.

    • If the USB device is displayed in Device Manager after you connect the cable to a different port, then uninstall and reinstall the software of USB device driver.

If the device is not recognized in any port, unplug it and go to the next step.

    • Open the Device Manager.
    • Double-click Bus USB controllers,

    • Double-click on a USB root hub,

    • Click the Power tab

    • Click on properties of power supply (if it is displayed).

Devices need that are connected to the hub are shown, as well as the power they have. If the total displayed power is more than 500 mA, remove the devices and use a hub powered.

    • Continue looking at the properties of the power of each USB hub. If the total power required exceeds the total available power for the hub, then remove a device on this hub to a decrease in the number of consumption.

    • Plug in and wait five seconds. If the device is not recognized, unplug and go to the next step.

Please note; Remove USB cables at high speed that are more than 3 m (9.8 ft) in length and use cables at high speed that are shorter than 3 m.

  • PC does not recognize the ipod when I plug in the USB cord.

I have an ipod touch, and it will replace my old ipod.  When I plug the USB cord, nothing is recognized by the computer.  It is also not recognize my old ipod when I plug it now.  I have other devices that use a USB cord, and they work as they should.

Apple told me to check with Security Essentials to see if they are blocking a pilot... I am quite at a loss.  It's the ipod or it is safety, or is it the computer?

I tried everything on separate computers, and they don't always work.

    Any help is appreciated!

It is not MSE-you get a warning if it were.  Try another cable or try on another PC.  It sounds like the cable might be the problem if all of a sudden or iPod works.

Thank you! I tried what you mentioned, nothing has worked... I plugged a usb keyboard and it works, so I'm starting to believe it could be a motherboard problem. I finally got windows xp pro installed, no conflicts in Device Manager, all the drivers are installed and now running smooth. I removed the keyboard, and re-set, all connections look good, but still not good. the synaptics keyboard works fine and both rt & lft click the buttons. I pulled the ram to inspect it, it's the right speed, ddr2700, and after running for an hour, it was cold to the touch! I'll try to get a new keyboard and replace it, their pretty good work, if still not good it becomes pieces on ebay... lol tx again... Marty

  • Photosmart 7960 installed via the USB port on the PC under Win XP Pro acting as a print server

I have a PC running Windows XP Pro, which acts as the home network file and print server.   The Photosmart 7960 is connected to this computer via a USB cable and configured to be "shared".   When I go to "Add a printer" on another PC, in Windows 7, which is also part of the same network, I can navigate to the 7960 correct, but the installation wizard is unable to find the driver for Win 7.  I still have what in the HP see basic documents that tells me how to add this shared printer on my Win 7 PC.  Looking at the support page drivers I saw that Windows 7 already has the driver.  True, but the only way, it seems that I can get to it is to connect the printer directly to Win 7 PC via a USB cable.   Any suggestions?

Apparently, the solution is as follows.  First connect the photosmart 7960 directly to the PC running Windows 7 via USB cable network.  It will be auto-install drivers.  Reconnect the printer to the PC under XP pro server.   From the PC running Windows 7 where you have installed the printer via USB, you can go ahead and remove the photosmart 7960 from the list of printers; This will not remove the just downloaded drivers.  Next, select Add a printer, and then select 'Add a local printer' (no network).  Select 'Create New Port' and click Next.  In the next dialog box, type the name of the host server and the name of the printer.  In my case, it's \\mainserver\HP photosmart 7960. Click Next.   In the "Install the printer driver" dialog, click "Hewlett Packard" and find the 7960 in the printer list and click Next.  I was able to successfully install the printer this way.

rThen your question isn't specific to Windows 7, you must consult the manufacturer. You should be able to disable the USB via the BIOS ports. Also, why do you want to set the optical drive as read only? If it is shared? If so, the advanced sharing disk properties, from there, you can set permissions on the drive.
