Games directory

I have Vista business and it is not a directory of games or any games loaded on this version, is there a reason for this

Hi Chaswurth,

Thanks for choosing Microsoft Windows Vista forums.

By default, the games feature is disabled in Windows Vista Business edition. To activate the games on Vista Business edition feature, refer to the steps below:

1. click on the Start button , click Control Panel , click programs and then click on tour
Windows features on or off
. If you are prompted for an administrator password or

confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2. to turn on the games feature, select the games check box. To disable the games feature,
Clear the games check box.

3. click on OK .

I hope this information helps.

Kind regards.

  • Use WMP to play audio files of older games triggers the Crash game

I have a game more Microsoft called Age of Empires. The game has some cool sound effects, I went into the game directory and played some of the sounds with Windows Media Player. Now when I try to play the game, it crashes when these sounds are triggered.

I learned that WMP adds a kind of coding for audio files when he plays, and that older games such as Age of Empires do not include this extra info so when the game tries to play the sounds, it crashes.

I tried to uninstall the game completely and put it back and even delete audio files and their replacement, but he did not set. It is only the sounds that I played on WMP that cause the game to Crash, all the sounds I was not playing on WMP still work fine.

Can you please tell me how to resolve this.

    Hi Halima,

Thanks for your reply. I managed to solve the problem in a different way. I open each file with a program (I use Adobe Audition) for audio editing, you click Save under and saved all of the audio files as new mp3 files, crushing & replace the original files. I did it in bulk by opening all the audio files at the same time and choosing "save all".

This seems to have removed the additional coding added to audio files in Windows Media Player and the game can play these audio files when triggered.

That said, I do not understand why crushing & replacing the mp3 files fixed the issue so that the uninstall & reinstall the game does not - this method of relocation removed all files of game (including all audio files) and replace them with the original from disk files, but still they cannot be triggered by the game. Maybe the computer recognized them somehow as the same files that WMP had altered and automatically change them again. Very strange.

    Thank you

  • My Eternity Bigfish game Mahjong towers work properly with Windows Vista. It does not work with Windows 7.

I click on the game icon and the game window and page layouts start charging. But the process of loading stops at halfway and I get the following message: "Mahjong Towers Eternity has encountered a problem. Please make sure that you have the latest version of the game. I have the only version of the game. In addition, once I have delete the message I can't delete the game window unless I'm using the Task Manager.

    Hi martham

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft answers site!

It is a standard error message coded in the game that occurs when MTE there is a mistake, for all sorts of reasons. It is a game crash, not a drive failure. You don't need to upgrade to a new version of the game. If you have downloaded a lot of tilesets and backgrounds, clean those out of your game directory. And if you have a large number of layouts in your Favorites list, delete the 'my' file that is located in your game directory

In addition, check the compatibility of the game with Windows 7 from the link below:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

Try to install the game in compatibility mode and check if this solves the problem.

  • Icons in the game Dir folder

OK I just installed Windows 7 home Premium and then I installed Eq2 I work now, but during I was tring to get this work whenever I clicked on the icon to start the download for the game he put an icon in the game Dir and now everytime I start the game it puts another icon in the game directory and I can't delete them. Can someone help me with this problem...

    dragonstun,
You will need to check with the support of EQ2 on this issue.  However, here's another thread that addresses this issue.  The user is that you can remove the extra icons via the registry, but does not touch that they are in.  You can try if you are uncomfortable with the help of the registry editor.

  • Some games do not appear in the category "games" in Vista. Why? :/

I have recently updated from Windows XP to Vista so I kept my programms and games. But the problem is that while my older games are displayed correctly and works fine, games that are specially designed to work on Vista do not appear in the "games" directory. However, they are still working fine. I want to just be organized, that's all. Furthermore, I tried to copy the .exe to "games", but even if the icons have appeared, no information has been collected on games such as the Pegi grades or performance. I activated the option to download the info on the Internet but still not... :( What's weird is the fact that it has met all the info from my old games such as Pegi. But what about games "designed for Vista"? Thnx in advance! : D

Thnx for your reply! I'm glad that I can have rely you on if I never have a problem! Thnx again! : D

  • MS wrote that Windows 7 Professional comes with MS Games; they have disappeared. How can I get them?

I bought a HP Pavilion, manufacturer dv7 - 3098ca, with Windows 7 Professional installed.  There are 2 directories with the word 'game' - HP - games and games.  They both contain the same set of HP games (2 identical sets).  According to Microsoft, Windows 7 comes with the same games that have been installed with Vista business, normally residing in the games directory.  Can someone tell me how to get the Microsoft Games that were supposed to be included with this system?

Normally, you should see games under all programs. You can even search for games under boot and search for the Games Explorer button.

If you see missing, perform these steps to install them:

    1. click on start, control panel

    2. open programs and features

    3. click on "turn Windows features on or off".

    4. uncheck the games

    5. click on OK

    6 restart the system

    7. Repeat steps 1-3. Check the option games

    8. click on OK

9 restart the system... the games should be back now

    Hello!

    I have a Satellite A200 - 13 M with a drive TSST TS - L632D DVD (Firmware TO-04) and Windows Vista.
I can't play a DVD protected by securom.

I made an update to Vista, my PC BIOS, but it still does not work.
If I use an external DVD drive, I have no problem to read DVD protected by securom.
I don't know what to do to solve this problem. She seems to have no update of firmware for this DVD player/burner.

    Help!

    Hello

I have no similar experiences, but please check if the service called "Securom Services" is active. I'm sure it must be deleted somewhere in the registry.

In another forum I found something very interesting. Maybe he can help you. Check it out.

    + Crash day - and a warning +.
    January 27, 2006

+ Atari has released a playable demo of a game called Day of Crash. It is similar to Need for Speed: Most Wanted in many ways, but the goal is to destroy the other cars to missiles and miniguns, or do crazy stunts. It's very fun and seem to have some potential - see my screenies, thoughts and tweaks in this thread. +

+ Now, here is the part of the warning. Without wanting to be too dramatic, Crash day demo uses SecuROM copy protection system. It is very annoying and may cause problems on your computer. You can avoid the installation of the demo, or if you install it and then eventually want to uninstall and remove SecuROM, including "SecuROM User Access" Service, it installs under Windows, follow these steps: +.

+ 1. Uninstall the game as usual. +

    + 2. Manually remove the game directory (usually \Program Files\Atari\Crashday-+ demo\)

+ 3. Go to start > run and type "Services.msc" (without the quotes) and press ENTER. +

+ 4. Access the "Securom User Access" Service, double click on it, click on stop and then set Disabled. +

+ 5. Navigate to the \Windows\System32\ directory and delete the file UAService7.exe. +

+ 6. Go to start > run and type 'sc delete useraccess7' (without the quotes) and press ENTER. +

+ Note: Ce Service can be re-created by one of your other SecuROM games, in which case you will have to work to play. +

+ The following steps are very risky and only to those who is certain none of their currently installed games use or need of SecuROM: +.

+ 7. Go to \Documents and Settings\All Users Data\ and remove the SecuROM subdirectory. +

+ 8. Go to start > run and type "Regedit" (without the quotes) and press ENTER. Then find the + * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SecuROM * + key and delete it if possible. +

This game is not supported under Windows NT

everything I try still displays same error codes, I tried to change compatablety for the old game

Check with EA to see if you have the latest patch for the game.

Make sure that you run a virus scan as well.  Sometimes a virus can be attached to an executable causing the executable to fail to launch.

If you have problems to run a Sims 2 and you think that it is related to compatibility with Windows Vista, you can try to get the game to work running it in Compatibility Mode.

Please make sure that you have downloaded all the necessary updates in Windows Vista, including SP1.

Note: This configuration should be used for the games that have been developed before Windows Vista. To do this, please check the minimum system requirements for your game check if Windows Vista is listed.

1 shortcut icon on the desktop of the game with the right button and choose Properties.
    2. in the properties panel, click the Compatibility tab.
    3. check the Compatibility Mode box.
    4. Select Windows XP (Service Pack 2) in the mode area.
    5. click on apply to save your changes.

If you opted not to have a desktop icon installed:

    1. find the icon of the game in your games directory.
    2. right click on the game and click Customize. This will bring up the Customize menu.
    3. Select plays.
    4. Select Edit.
    5. This will bring to the top of the Properties screen. Click on the Compatibility tab.
    6. check executer run in Compatibility Mode, and then choose Windows XP (or any operating system, the game was designed for).
    7. press on apply and then press OK. You will be back to the Customize menu.
    8. close the Customization screen.
    9. now, the game is set to run in Compatibility Mode.

Please note that this will only make the race game in Compatibility Mode if you click the shortcut that you set Compatibility Mode for. All other icons shortcut (for example in your Start menu) will have these changes, as well.

Another step, you want to try running the software as an administrator. To do this:

    * Shortcut icon on the desktop of the game with the right button and choose Properties.
    * In the properties panel, click the Compatibility tab.
    * In the privilege level section, move the check run this program as an administrator checkbox.
    * Click on apply to save your changes.
    * Try new software.

I hope it works for you.

  • How can I do Desert Rats Vs Afrika Korps compatible with Windows 7?

  • Uninstalling a program - does not!

Hi all, I hope someone can help out me.

A few weeks ago I bought a copy of the person lives forever GOTY edition (new) cheaply. After playing for a few hours and give him a chance, I really don't like and I went out. This is where the problem arises.

Person doesn't live Forever GOTY edition appears under the start menu and in this menu, I have the option to uninstall the game, but when I click on it nothing happens outside of a control box asking "Summers - you want to allow this program to make changes to your computer?" By clicking on done nothing Yes and as expected, done by clicking No.. Also, the game does not appear in the control panel but all other program and game, I installed only.

Is it possible to uninstall other than to drag the program files in the trash? I don't really want to do this because I do not know is not to get rid of it completely.

    Thank you

I assume that when you say sign you are referring to programs and features, which is the best place to uninstall all software.
If the game is not listed in programs and features, the registry key that puts the game on the list was probably removed when you tried to uninstall.
There may be an uninstall program in the repertoire of games (installation folder) that you can try (should be if there is a shortcut in the start menu). Failure then.

    (2) - it can help to restore the set to a time before you tried to uninstall.
To make this R / click on the directory of games and go to 'Properties', then click on "Previous Versions".
If there is no available 'previous Versions' you can try to do a full restore of the system.

    (3) - If this didn't help not you could try to reinstall on the first install and uninstall then again.

    (4) - all the above, you just have to take a deep breath and delete any default. After you delete the games directory, you will find a folder with the name of the games or publishers in ur name-
The user > My Documents and App Data records, you can delete.
If you are really picky you can trawl the register to finish the job. There may be entries.
    HKEY_CURRENT _USER-Software and possibly HKEY_CURRENT _USER-Software-Wow6432Node.
    Or - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-Software-Wow6432Node.
But - IMO, the single registry entry that's aggravating is one that keeps the
game on the list in programs and features. Others won't hurt anything.

I uninstalled a game, and for good measure, I also deleted the game program files directory. Nothing is left... However, I find one more persistent "title game" in the menu "Uninstall/Change Program." How do I remove it completely?

    -TACANDEL

I would try using the Windows Installer Cleanup utility, which can be downloaded from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301. To install the tool, download and run as administrator.   Then, you must run the tool by clicking Start, typing Windows Installer Clean Up in the search field and clicking on the enter key.   Select the item you want to delete in the menu program uninstall/change, and then click Remove.    Click OK in the confirmation window.  It should work pretty quickly. Click on exit to close the tool.

To learn more about this utility, read this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Installer_CleanUp_Utility.

  • Loading error when you try to load the Halo 2 "files are missing or damaged in the installation directory. A few important files required to run this game are missing from the installation directory.

Original title: load error when you try to load Halo 2

People at Microsoft, I have a problem trying to load Halo 2 on my dv7 Paviliaon with Vista and the 2.8 GB Intel Centrino 2 processor. When I try and load the game, I get and error stating: "the files are missing or damaged in the installation directory. A few important files required to run this game are missing from the installation directory. "It bothered me for several reasons. One: the disc that I use is an original disc out of the box so hsould have no problem. Two: the game has been loaded previously on the same computer without apparent problem at the time. It has been deleted (don't remember why) and when I tried to reinstall, the error came. Three: I did as recommended and updated all programs and drivers, nothing works. So my question is, how do I reinstall Halo 2 and what this problem will arise if I decide to buy and load Halo 3?

Thank you for your time in advance.

  • Why finder hide Documents and office files in the home directory of the user by activating iCloud drive? What about the behavior of Time Machine backup or third-party applications?

I'm under MacOS Sierra. I am connected to my iCloud account. I activated the option Desktop and Documents, but I did NOT activate the option optimize Mac storage, because I wanted to make sure that all my files would be available locally, just in case, I would need to work without an internet connection.

-J' noticed there now a menu iCloud in my sidebar in the Finder, with links to Documents and desktop.

-J' also noticed that Documents is no longer presented in my favorites in my side bar of the Finder.

-This last suggests that files saved in 'Documents' are not saved more on my HD... but only in iCloud, which isn't what I want.

-Then, sailing in the Finder Macintosh HD/users / 'My account' /, I noticed that my Documents and desktop folders are more visible, as if these files are not saved in my home folder most. Which raises the question: where are My Documents and files on my HD, so they are still?

-Using a shell session in the terminal and again navigate to/Users / 'My account' /, I noticed that my Documents and desktop folders are still there. Which suggest that records and records of office reside actually still in my home folder under users, but Finder actually hide it and present them as being stored in iCloud only disc. It's very confusing.

    This raises several questions:

-In the first place, why Apple hide Documents and office files in the directory? Why not view these folders in iCloud and directory?

-Whence the iCloud folder or drive, reside actually on my hard drive?

-What time Machine. Is it still back up my document files and folders?

-What games third-party app mirroring backup of My Documents files and folders? They still work properly? (I use Livedrive backup and Sugarsync for files mirrored across several macs).

-How can I understand that Apple is doing with my folders and files? Some users might be happy with the iCloud drive concept, without worrying about how it works, but I don't take chances, and I want to keep a good understanding about the functioning of my system.

Could someone explain what is exactly happening?

With office and selected Documents, access to these files are now in the iCloud Drive, not in your home folder.

My guess would be that they do not appear in your file because it would be confusing for many people to make them in two places.

If you want in the Favorites, open iCloud Drive and drag them in the sidebar here.

All about iCloud drive has been saved on your Mac. With the exception of the office and the Documents, they are in ~/Library/Mobile Documents. However, if you choose optimized storage, older documents are removed from your Mac. I don't know what is "old".

~/Documents and ~/desktop have new metadata indicating probably Finder does not display them in a Finder window, only in iCloud drive. They are not hidden in one of the normal methods of unix.

I have not tested Time Machine or any other backup program. The folder still exist in your directory home, and they still have all the files, I don't think that changes anything.
