What can I do?

Hello

Even if you just bought your iMac, the OS X software must be updated before you can download GarageBand sounds.

Click on your menu  Apple at the top left of your screen. In the drop-down list, click: System Preferences. When the System Preferences opens, select App Store , then click on: check now

Who needs to update your Mac OS X 10.11.5.

Then try to download sounds to GarageBand.

• is it possible to create something GarageBand for Mac and share with someone using an iOS device to be able to add and send it back?

OK, here's the deal. I have a friend who is interested in working on musical ideas through GarageBand. He has an iPad Pro (not sure 1st or 2nd gen). and I use my 6 + or 1 Air iPad iPhone or a MacBook Pro. didn't matter that the one that I use because it can't open them with the iPad Pro, even if he sent it to me first. I am only able to open what it sends to my MacBook, although...

Is this possible? Very convenient to add titles and the return device to added again and so on? One might think that these devices would be able to work this way with each other.

Thank you

GarageBand on an iOS device cannot open GarageBand for Mac projects, but a mac can open GarageBand compatible for iPhone/iPad projects.

So, you might send your friend only mixed audio files. Your friend should add the sound to the Music.app on the iPad Pro and then add the new joint audio tracks in GarageBand. It is quite complicated, because you need to merge the titles added your friend in your original on the Mac project.

• Update errors (iPhoto, Garageband) inherited iMac 2011

I've updated an iMac mid-2011 legacy of OS X Lion to El Capitan, and almost everything works, except that the App Store again that Garageband and iPhoto (*) requires the update, but when I try to do updates: "Update not available with this Apple ID" / "this update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by another user or the item has been repaid. or cancelled. "(for Garageband, has always been the same second part of that message; I could have sworn that attempts to update iPhoto used to give another like the one given below after a failed attempt to execute it, but now, it's the same mistake as with Garageband). After that, I get another message, "We could not complete your request." / "there was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (null) ».

(*) I understand not iPhoto is obsolete, but despite you ask to import from iPhoto, Photos actually seems to have done the job (maybe he did, but I can't be sure if I can't open iPhoto), so I would need to retrieve inherited photos (family). If it is not possible to update, can someone let me know which directories to go to be safe?

The existing version of iPhoto is 9.2.1 - this will not work and says he needs an update (who, when tried, gives the error message "Point not available" / "the object you requested is not available in the US store."). The existing version of Garageband is 6.0.4 - this runs, but says it needs an update.

To the best of my knowledge, the previous owner never bought either of these as a separate post (the previous owner never used Garageband and found it annoying that this has been included in the default Mac OS X software), and I don't think that the previous owner has even bothered where was able to set up a Apple ID , so I don't know why these 2 programs to give the above error messages when any other update very well.

How can I fix it?

When Googling for solutions, the people of problems post answers to always seem to be a little different, although I knew to have duplicates on other readers might cause problems (I can say in advance that I don't have this problem: it happens with any connected storage device). I tried the solution to drag *.app for these last records in the trash and then retrying App Store, but he wants to charge for Garageband and will not appear iPhoto at all (although it shows for iPhoto Add-ons that are always available). I also saw a workaround complicated for those who want to stick with iPhoto instead of Photos that is to make a new account to install it (in fact I already did, by making a new account on this computer after the update to El Capitan, even if I get the same errors on the previous owner). Also, before you just drag *.app for these last files in the Recycle Bin permanently, I need to know if other things must be removed to get rid of them, if they cannot be updated.

Before anyone arrives on my case about do not update the software on the Mac for a long time before Mac OS X El Capitan, also note that the previous owner had problems of health and health problems of the family during the duration of validity as it should have been upgraded, enough to take it past option of discord.

Apologies for any question in double (strangely, putting my question in the search bar or by post in these forums did not turn anything and sent me directly to do this post) or something that should be obvious, these last weeks have been my first experience Mac search in the system (i.e., more than occasional use during the family visit) since the mid-2000s , and this is my first time on these forums.

This you should get a completely restored system so that it was when it was first purchased. After that upgrades should be thin. There is no Apple given ID. All applications must work.

1. The recovery of Internet startup by pressing Option + command (⌘) r immediately after start-up or that you restart your Mac. Release the keys when you see the Apple logo. Start-up is finished when you see the utility window.
2. Open utility drive in the Utilities window, then use disk utility to erase your hard disk using the Mac OS extended (journaled) format. Quit disk utility when done.
3. Choose Reinstall macOS (or reinstall OS X) in the utility window, and then follow the instructions on the screen.
This installs the system provided with your Mac, when it was new.
• GarageBand deleted but still occupies 1.25 GB of disk space

I already deleted the garageband, but in the about this Mac-> storage, still busy garageband 1.25 GB of disk space. I have tried using AppCleaner to clean all the content related to garageband, but in vain. Help, please.

Hi EpsilonSgr,

Check these folders:

• HD/Applications/GarageBand.app Macintosh
• Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/GarageBand
• Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/logic
• Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Apple Loops
• Ghost of GarageBand

I'm running an end of 2013 MacBook Pro and use of Mac OS Sierra 10.12.

I deleted GarageBand when I bought the MBP I don't not need or use it and then recently reinstalled it when a member of the family needed her. I have re-deleted the application and then recently looked at the storage are of my hard drive and because GarageBand seems to be eating 2.67 GB. I tried the app, but he could not find anywhere. Anyone know why it appears on the storage chart when it's not around.

Thank you very much.

GarageBand installs instruments and sounds in the library, also buckles Apple Loops.

Look at/Library/Application Support/GarageBand.

GarageBand is the installation in the folder/Library/Audio/Apple Loops loops.

Library of instruments in this folder will be the MainStage or Logic Pro X also, if you use other music applications. Loops Apple Loops can be used by iMovie and sound effects.

So don't delete these items installed, so other applications can use them.

Perhaps you have still some GarageBand projects lying around. They can be very important.

By default, the projects will be in the folder music in your ~/Music/GarageBand folder. and have the file name extension ".band.

It can also be synchronized GarageBand projects to iCloud by car, if you have enabled iCloud for GarageBand.

• GarageBand 10.1.2: Why do ' |. ' CH1"appear suddenly on some of my songs?

I've seen this several times now on different tracks in different songs that I'm working on, but I don't know what are the causes it to appear or what it means - can someone help/index me? Thank you!

What instrument he was loaded on this track? This additional ' |. ' Indication of ch' tells you what MIDI channel track sends its data to the MIDI Instrument. This setting is not available in GarageBand, only in the logic, where you can choose the channel. My guess is that you have loaded a multitimbral software Instrument (which can receive MIDI on different MIDI channels), GarageBand will automatically switch to that channel and indicates that.

Does look something like this?

• Note looping in GarageBand

In GarageBand, I did a recording of me just sing a long note and want to loop an entire song so the note sounds even longer. But when I do that, whenever the loop again it makes a little noise, hard to explain, but even if I cut the beginning and the end of the recording, he does always a little sound whenever he performs a loop itself and I don't know what to do. Y at - it a setting I can change to stop? I want it to look like a long drone.

To what you want to achieve, you must to crossfade regions to create transitions smoothly between them. Unfortunately, GarageBand doesn't have the ability to fade or crossafe Audio regions (Logic Pro X). However, all is not lost, there is a solution, you can do the same thing with automation.

Look at the screenshot to understand the procedure.

• Create two Audio tracks
• The first Audio track has the area of your voice recording audio
• Apply the Volume Automation to increase the level at the beginning of the region and lower end of the region.
• Now copy (Option-do drag) this region in the second piece so the end of the first area overlaps the beginning of this region. Automation is copied with the region.
• Now select the region on the first track and the area (you just copied) on the second track and the Option-do drag to the right to copy both of them, yet once for the region of second and third overlap.
• Keep this copy procedure as long as you need it to be.

As you can see, when a region Faints, the other region on the road to spare fades, create a crossfade without welding.

You play a little to find the right length for automation to come in and out and also how to straddle the regions.

I explain details of the automation and the rest of my book of GarageBand. ""X GarageBand - how it works".

A tip:

Instead of having a linear Automation curve between two Automation Control Points (the points), you can create logarithmic shapes by Ctrl + Shift + drag the line between two Control Points. Drag left/right for s-shape or high-low exponential curves. It will look something like this (sh + ctr + click on the line to linear curve).

Hope that helps

• How to completely uninstall Garageband?

I just upgraded to Sierra and was to have a look on the segmentation of storage when I discovered that GarageBand was 2.46 GB, even if I deleted it the day I got my MacBook Pro and never even open. How can I recover this storage space?

Simply move to the trash by drag-and-drop-if you want just go to the App Store and download it never return.

• GarageBand taking too large storage capacity

Hi all

I've updated for macOS Sierra 10.12 earlier and noticed something strange / question - as you can see in the screenshot below GarageBand takes 17.37 GB on my hard drive, but I uninstalled the app entire including the Apple Loops loops library (used AppCleaner)

I have a MacBook Pro (retina, 15-inch, mid-2015). 2.2 Intel Core i7, 16 GB of RAM and 251 GB of flash storage.

Is there anything else I can do or anything, I'm not properly? I would ideally like to free space.

Thanks a lot for your help.

I'm having the same problem! I've never used before garage band!

• The interface usb audio of Behringer U-Phoria UMC404HD work with Garageband?

I just got an interface USB 4 channels for recording guitars and microphones. It has no driver, but instead uses the Mac OS. I implemented the sound control panel to recognize the device input and output, can I use the Audio configuration utility and MIDI to fit a recording at 192000HZ.

My problem is that as soon as I open GarageBand 192000HZ setting falls down to it is more low 44100 HZ. It is a flaw with the audio interface Behringer or is it a problem of system software?

I will mix Behringer messages on this problem, a guy says that the interface has a bad component castigates other Garageband.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone with any interface from Behringer, who used it to 192000HZ using Garageband. Any other comments welcome.

I have this problem on 3 different computers using systems to a new installation of 10.11 10.6.8. A few different USB cables. More recently, on an I7 Mini with memory 16 concerts with 10.11.6. Currently on Garageband 10, but the same problem with Garageband 6

I talked to an Apple technician and the answer is that Apple has "capped" sampling in 441000HZ setting.

Thus, in spite of the box is designed to accept 192000Hz sampling, apparently GarageBand has been paralyzed for a lower sampling only to the adjustment system. Another program audio I, Amadeus Pro, has no difficulty with the parameter to 192000.

TSK, tsk Apple...

• There are older versions of garageband?

There are older versions of garageband?

Since Apple has the distribution of their software online, you will face the following situation.

• Once Apple releases a new version of an application software and makes it available on the App Store, the previous version is no longer available (unless you have saved a copy of the previous Installer on your disk).
• The App Store is the only source where you can get the software. Apple has total control of the distribution and you can't go to Amazon or eBay to get an older version.

Hope that helps

• GarageBand iPad Mini

They gave me an iPad Mini, who was installed by the previous owner of GarageBand on it. I wanted to update the app, but it would update only under the original owner login, and I do not have this password. So I deleted the application again, but now I find that GarageBand now will work in ios 10, which is not available for the Mini. Is it possible for me to get GarageBand on my iPad Mini?

Did you save the applications, when synchronize you the iPad with iTunes on a computer and saved? If you have not saved it in iTunes, you will need to contact the former owner to restore the old version.

• GarageBand wasn't able to install the new sounds

I'm under GarageBand 10.1.2 & OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 on a Macbook Pro 13 retina "(2016).

A couple of weeks, that I have installed additional drummers with no problems. I noticed, however, that many of the sounds in the sound library had an icon to download next to them; so I went to the GarageBand menu, option "Sound Library / download all the available sounds" and they begin to download immediately. Most of them have installed fine (and is still usable), but at some point the download has stopped and a window appeared with the message "GarageBand wasn't able to install the new sounds. Close and re-open GarageBand to download and install again. »

Since then, whenever I open GarageBand, downloading continues automatically, but after a few minutes I get the same annoying message.

I searched the Internet and tried all the following without success:

(1) closed and reopened GarageBand

(2) given in market system

(3) delete the folder "/ private/var/folders/lq/nb_0wt4d1zq5rs933745flww0000gn ' and all its contents

(4) remove the "user/Library/Caches" folder and all its contents

(5) the latest version of Java from Oracle (update version 8 101 - build 1.8.0_101 - b13)

I always feel the same frustrating lock when I open GarageBand (download starts and after a while it stops and the error message shows up again... and again once).

I've included some screenshots on this post below, which illustrate the issue.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide me with!

Just to be sure - you have enough free storage to install all the new sounds? The instrument only GarageBand library has 14GB on my Mac.

Until you try to install the sounds still launch the Console application and look for messages of diagnosis in the Console, when GarageBand gives the error message. Are there clues, all messages associated with GarageBand in the Console window?

Sometimes third part applications or incompatible system additions could cause this kind of problem, as firewall and antivirus software, for example, Little Snitch or Kaperski. If you have any of these installed, disable it before attempting to download the software.

To prevent the non-standard extensions system to interfere, restart the Mac in Mode safe, before you try to install again, see: try safe mode if your Mac does not commissioning - Apple Support

• GarageBand > application does not

So I worked on a project in garageband, registered and then do other things.

Today, I tried to work on it again and to my frustration garageband opens more.

It does nothing:

-When clicking on the icon, it starts to jump and that after a second literally "spinning wheel" appears.

-When you try to close the program it does not either > force quit after 6 to 7 times works

-J' tried several reboots of the imac

-J' was so frustrated that I paid for another download, reinstalled, and this version does not work EITHER...

I must say it gets pretty frustrating, anyone have any idea what could be the problem?

Working with yosemite, with more than 16 GB of ram and 800 GB of space. IMac is starting in 2014.

Hello kevinfromhoeselt,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I understand your message that you are no longer able to open GarageBand. I recommend that you restart your Mac in Mode safe the issue then restart the Mac as usual and test it again.

What is safe mode?

Safe mode (sometimes called secure boot) is a way to start up your Mac so that it performs certain checks and prevents certain software from loading automatically or opening.

Here are the steps to restart your Mac in Mode safe:

Start in safe mode

Follow these steps to start in safe mode.
Start or restart your Mac.
As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.
