Hi, maybe a stupid question

Why does my laptop have a generic pnp monitor listed in the Device Manager?

I've searched high and low to find the driver for the monitor (not the display adapter) just the monitor that is installed on my laptop. but I'm not able to find one anywhere. Why don't I have a listed specific screen and where can I get a

I very much appreciate all the answers and help about this

Here for a good time, not a lot of time

Yes! HP does not have drivers for notebooks...

most vista drivers work with win 7 as well...

but I think that I found a driver for infrared to your laptop even for Vista...

Try this driver:

FTP://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp41501-42000/sp41705.exe

OR

FTP://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp42501-43000/sp42722.exe

Remove all the drivers installed previously to IR

  • Non - Generic PNP monitor problems

So a few months ago, I had a problem with my PC where it would do the sounds of disconnection/reconnection as im Plug and unplug a USB... I had no idea what it was and he finally stopped.

Now, she came back and found out that the cause is what is called my 'generic Non - PNP monitor' I had my window peripheral upward and the noises at the start I looked and saw that coming in and out of connection and other. I only use 1 monitor and run Windows 7 Home Premium.

I had first turned off this unit and it stopped for a few minutes then it re-enabled itself and started to act up again. Then I uninstalled the driver, but he quickly reinstalled itself... I ended up re - turn off and unplug that I discovered on my screen plugged into my hard drive internal, but also my Radeon. Since I unplugged I have not heard but I want to know if it was the real problem or I'm just have a chance with her?

    Hi Nathan,

    Thanks for the reply.

It seems that your computer detects that you have another monitor connected. You have a monitor to fix?

You can set the second monitor in mirror and then disconnect. That could prevent switching monitors.

    Hope this information helps.

  • Support of external monitor on computer laptop dv6833

I have a laptop HP dv6833 with a (built-in) edge 'Intel 965 Express' video driver (ver. 7.14.10.1437). I want to connect my laptop to my monitor to get more screen real estate Dell 22 '' widescreen. However, when I connect the monitor using schema "multiple display" Intel, I can't have the 22 "monitor to display a resolution higher than 1280 x 800. The monitor is actually capable of displaying resolutions up to 1680 x 1050.

I checked the HP website for updated a new/updated video driver, but I already have the latest being. The only other driver listed on their website is a nVidia driver that installs not on my laptop. Someone at - it any other suggestions to increase the resolution of my monitor 22 '' capability when connected to my laptop?

    Thank you.

Wait a minute... it worked... I think so! I tried to adjust my display settings in Windows Vista (again) and all of a sudden I can choose resolutions all the way up to (and beyond) 1680 x 1050. Don't know if clicking on a files did, but I'm a happy camper now.

I also noticed to display properties for the Intel GMA driver that the regime had changed "Display multiple" to "single - monitor. Also, when I toggle the secondary monitor using the keys Fn/F4, I can't reach a higher resolution, unless I have to toggle the display of the computer to the off position.

I don't know if the soluton is to download and click the driver to display, or toggle the display of control files, or both. What was the solution, the problem is resolved.

I am slot as Windows 7 Pro on a Dell Intel 64 bit pc with a screen HD Dell I5 and Intel HD graphics 4600 driver.  PC woke up a few hours of inactivity, after no updates known to windows or other programs, with icons and pages double size beyond the limits of the monitor, setting the low resolution and Device Manager showing ' no generic pnp monitor low resolution ' instead of 'Monitor Dell HD' and no option to increase the resolution.  No help with reset, not restoration, disconnection and reconnection monitor auto plug n Play, 'Search new device', 'add a device', update of the graphics driver, reinstall the drivers from the Dell monitor.  Troubleshooting peripheral reported to date and working correctly.  After I finally uninstalled driver restarted, and graphic displays "default monitor" Device Manager (no longer "generic low resolution"), no graphics driver identified, but don't allow me to change to a higher resolution.  New windows had to be individually size / expanded to fill the screen.  This can be corrected?  I want to optimize my display settings for this monitor.  I have reinstall my graphics driver or just be happy that I can use my computer?  Thank you.

Call Dell.  Your monitor should have a 3-year warranty.  Your matching OptiPlex with a warranty of one year more.

Also, check all the hidden and invisible buttons on the monitor.  Someone may have inadvertently changed one of these.

  • 100 s-11IBY computer laptop (ideapad) - cannot adjust the brightness of the screen - windows 10

Hello my f11 and f12 keys is no longer adjust my brightness. The gauge up and down, but does not change the brightness. I tried to update the graphics card in Device Manager, but he says that it is up-to-date. Same thing with 'Generic PNP Monitor' said that it is up-to-date. I wiped the computer clean and 'reset' and reinstalled windows and it still does not allow me to adjust the brightness of the screen

I'm not incredibly intuitive with computers, but I followed the instructions as much as I could find during my research online with nothing doesn't.

Initially, the problem occurred when I used out of ignorance a program to install the drivers it says have been exceeded. After that, my audio stop working and my keyboard stop working entirely. After resetting the computer and windows resettled, the only question that remains is the brightness of the screen not being able to be adjusted.

This drives me crazy, can anyone help me? I would be very happy! and please let me know if you need more information regarding my laptop. Thank you!!

I thought about it. My drivers intel had to be installed since I reinstalled windows. I used the utility of intel and updated driver to update the graphics card update

    Hi Jill,

Please note that in order to have more than 2 monitor Setup, it is essential that the video card on your laptop actually supported the possibility of having 4 monitors. Most of the high-end video cards supports the option double screen.

You can even confirm by contacting the manufacturer.

  • What is generic PnP in Device Manager?

Original title: Identification of the display by the Device Manager in Windows 7

    Hello community,

I have two Dell 24 "ultrasharp monitors connected to my computer (i.e., Dell Dimension XPS 420) via an Nvidia GeForce GT 620 graphics card. When I check the device to the display manager, it shows the first monitor as a generic "PnP" monitor and the second as a Dell screen. In addition, I chose the second monitor as the main one. Does anyone know why the first monitor is referred to as under the generic name by Device Manager?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community Forum. Rest assured that we would do our best to help you.

A generic driver just means that Windows 7 has installed one of its drivers and the component should work fine, but maybe not as many features as the drivers from the manufacturer.

If you're worried, just go to the support site for the manufacturer of your area and see if there are any drivers you can download and install.

UPDATE! : I had no sound.

    Mike,

Disable the LogMeIn driver from Device Manager and check. There are a few reported issues where LogMeIn driver has disabled the aero thus also changed the screen resolution feature.

-Click Start, and then press on and enter type Device Manager.
-Double click on graphics cards to expand the video drivers.
-Right-click on the LogMeIn mirror driver and then click on disable.
-Restart the computer and see if that helps.

You can try to uninstall the video drivers and then install the driver from the AMD website as given in my first answer.
Note: it is there no trouble uninstalling the video driver. When the video driver is uninstalled, Windows starts with minimum VGA drivers. The resolution of the screen (icons on the screen) may look bigger, but after installing the latest video drivers, the screen resolution will be back to normal.

Please try the following steps and answer results.

    Roger,

    I'm glad to hear that.

Just to let you know, it is often the case with the monitors.

They will be the "default"setting, but still have the correct driver.

  • DisplayPort to DVI adapter is generic Non - PNP monitor

I have a 6 week old want H8 - 1420 T C1U69AV #ABA, Windows 8 64 bit, 1 GB Radeon HD7670 and I am trying to connect two Dell 1905FP monitors. Each monitor works fine when it is connected to the DVI port. When I connect a monitor with an adapter HP DisplayPort / DVI dongle, the system reports it as a generic Non - PNP monitor and the screen remains black. I tried the adapter on another system, and it works fine.

I've updated to the new '8.982.10.1800 Rev A January 3, 2013' driver on the HP site, but it did not help. The AMD drivers will not install because it is apparently a video of the ugly step-child card, not a true AMD. If I knew that I would have not purchased with the system.

I have the original of the 1905FP CD when I bought it and it isn't a driver file on this subject (no need of one with XP). When the monitors work, they are each reported as a 1905FP.

    Someone at - it suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestion, but this has been resolved over the weekend. I was using a passive adapter Displayport to DVI. I replaced it with a Startech DP2DVIS active adapter Displayport to DVI and that did the trick.
