GLC-FE-100FX = / / GLC-SX-MMD

Hello world!

I need some advice. I intend to connect the following switches by fiber optical multimode: IE-3010-16 s - 8PC (with GLC-FE-100FX = in the 16-port 100 Mbps x SFP) and WS-C2960CX-8PC-L (GLC-SX-MMD in rising 1 Gbps connections). The port speed is inconsistent in both switches. So I was wondering if the 1 Gbps uplink port could negotiate speed and finally to establish the connection.

Kind regards

Miguel

No - Sorry that won't work.

Gigabit SFP you have in the 2960 only use for one set at 1 Gbps speed. There is no possibility of negotiation of speed in the optical transceivers as the optics runs at a fixed speed.

You can replace the gigabit SFP GLC-SX-MMD in 2960 switches with 100 MB/s, one and that would work fine. Need part number would be:

GLC-GE-100FX

100BASE-FX SFP to SFP Gigabit Ethernet Ports

    I have Cisco 2960 X configured with 2 modules of transceiver GLC-SX-MMD.

Cisco is not in company fiber of wiring, so they do not have a part of you to sell that use cases. You can use a fiber and/or jumper cable from a renowned manufacturer. GLC-SX-MMD transceivers require a type LC on fiber multimode connector. They work best with the OM3 or better 50 micron fiber specification basis although they are compatible with the older style of base 62.5 microns (grade FDDI or OM1) fiber

For all Cisco SKU (Stock keeping units), the '=' at the end means a piece of spare or ordered separately article.

Without a '=' means usually the exact same item is ordered in a parent configuration - for example, a SFP as an optional part of a module switching.

They are exactly the same physical part.

  • Compatibility SFP

    Hello

I currently have several Cisco C2960X-24TD-L. I would like to read, it is possible to connect two SFP GLC-SX-MMD and GLC-LH-SMD with a multimode cable.
When the switch is connected to the GLC-LH-SMD lights but the GLC-SX-MMD does not illuminate. He will issue an order?

    Kind regards

I would savois it is possible to interconnect two SFP GLC-SX-MMD and GLC-LH-SMD with a multimode cable.

Is not possible.  The two modules (and associated cables) must be of the same wavelength.  It is GLC-SX-MMD-to-GLC-SX-MMD (with multi-mode cable) or GLC-LH-SMD-to-GLC-LH-SMD (with single-mode cable).

  • GLC-GE-100FX - connection to 3550 switch MMF

Hello, I have an OM1 MMF fiber flow between two switches, the first being a 3750 and the second being a 3550.

The link is currently greater than the maximum distance for OM1 @ 1000 Mb/s (220 m) so I would downgrade 100FX using the FPS needed link / GBIC is to extend the maximum distance of 550 m and launches the link @ 100 MB/s.

I have the room code for 100FX SFP to install in the 3750 (GLC-GE-100FX) but cannot find a GBIC for the 3550 100FX, anyone know if I can use a GBIC 1000SX (WS-G5484) for the 3550 at one end and the 100FX to another GFS? Anyone successful with this configuration on MMF?

    Concerning

No, you cannot use the fiber GBIC 1000Base-X to implement the Fast Ethernet link. You must instead use a kind of external media FE converter.

  • Can I connect SINGLE MODE SFP (GLC-LH-SM =) to MULTIMODE fiber which has ST connector on the side of Patch

Can I connect SINGLE MODE SFP (GLC-LH-SM =) to cord fiber MULTIMODE which has ST connector on the other side (patch panel). What is the loss of this set?

    The short answer is Yes.

The contours of the links up to 550mtrs on multimode fiber SFP datasheet .  You will need to use a Mode conditioning Patch Cord (CMCP) If your installed MMF is OM1 or OM2 rated, kernel 62.5 microns or 50 microns (use MMF cable connection if your fiber installed is OM3/OM4. You can buy MCPCs with hybrid connectors; LC at one end and ST on the other; available at many reputable suppliers.  My link to a hybrid CMCP is 62.5 microns MMF.

    I hope this helps.

  • 100BASE-BX10-U or GLC - FE - 100 LX - RGD?

    Hi all.

I have AIR-LAP1522, and I need to connect via fiber. Documentation has said, I should use side 1522

100BASE-BX10-U module. As I know it is a module to ports in 100 MB, wavelength of 1310 nm TX/1550 nm RX, 10 km on SMF monocatenaire.

My question is, can I use GLC - FE - 100 LX - RGD (GLC - FE - 100LX) 100BASE-BX10-you and use the pair of SMF?

    I have FO single mode.

And second question is: where is a diiference between GLC - FE - 100 LX - RGD and GLC - FE - 100LX?

    Best regards, Marcin

The transceiver (GLC - FE - 100 LX - RGD) robust must be comaptible as long as you have two strands (duplex fiber).

I recommend using the no robust transceiver (GLC - FE - 100 LX), the difference is the nominal operating temparature. There

    0 to 70 ° C (32 to 158 ° F) for commercial transceivers, non-robuste and -40 to 85 ° C (-40 to 185 ° F) for industrial (RGD) types. Data sheetof the reference.

  • Interconnect two SG500 base MGBBX1 or GLC-BX-D?

    Hello

I want to connect two switches SG500 over a distance of 150 meters. I really need a MGBBX1 on one end and a GLC-BX-D on the other end?

    Hello

    ----

For the Cisco MGBBX1, use the Cisco GLC-BX-D as the

SFP downstream. For the MFEBX1 of Cisco use Cisco GLC - FE-

100BX-D as SFP downstream. The Cisco MGBBX1 and the

    Cisco MFEBBX1 only supported upstream

    -------

Since you are using a single strand of fiber, you have a different wavelength to send in each direction.

One side transmits using the 1490 nm wavelength, and the other side is transmitting on the wavelength of 1310 nm (and the reception on the 1490nm).

The MGBBX1 only supports the upstream - U version AFAIK. Side acccess to the central part of the network.

In the kernel, you need the other version, so there is no MGBBX1 SKU for this version.

If possible, on 150 m, you should consider Multimode with 2 wires and MGBSX1

1000Base-BX10 is capable of up to 10 km on a single strand of fiber.

    hope that helps

  • Can I connect SFP GLC-LH-SMD connector lc single fiber on Cisco 897VA Module?

    Hi all

Please can I connect SFP GLC-LH-SMD connector lc single fiber on Cisco 897VA Module?

    Thanks in advance.

If you have only a single glass fiber then the GLC-LH-SMD = is NOT good

because it is for double connection to a pair of fiber.

You would like more information by your ISP, you will most likely need a GLC-BX-D (RX-TX/1310 nm, 1490 nm) or a GLC-BX-U(1310-nm TX/1490-nm RX)

    See below

1000Base-BX10-D and 1000BASE-BX10-U SFP for bidirectional single fiber Applications

SFP 1000BASE-BX-D and 1000BASE-BX-U, compatible with the IEEE 802.3Ah standard 1000BASE-BX10-D and 1000BASE-BX10-U, carried on in a single strand of SMF standard.

A 1000BASE-BX10-D device is always connected to a device of 1000BASE-BX10-U with one strand of SMF standard with functioning of the chain of transmission, up to 10 km.

The communication on a single strand of fiber is achieved by separating the wavelength of transmission of both devices, as shown in Figure 2: 1000BASE-BX10-D transmits a channel 1490 nm and receives a signal of 1310 nm, while 1000BASE-BX10-U transmits at 1310 nm wavelength and a signal of 1490 nm. As shown, the presence of a separator of multiplexing (WDM) length of wave-division integrated with SFP to split the 1310 nm, 1490 nm light railways.

Figure 4.      Two-way transmission of a single strand of SMF

GLC-BX-D and SFP GLC-BX-U supports also digital Optics (DOM) of the functions of surveillance in accordance with approval of the standard of the industry (MSA) multisource SFF-8472. This feature gives the end user the ability to analyze parameters in real time of the FPS, such as the optical output power, optical input power, temperature, laser bias current and transceiver supply voltage.
