• Dell Latitude 10 ST2: Screen very dark after the Windows Update 8.1 & gameplay of Diablo 2

  Hello community,

  I just got a new Latitude 10 ST2, and I really appreciated the help until after that I updated for Windows 8.1 and played some Diablo 2. For some reason, my brightness is now always very low, regardless of whether the Adaptive brightness in my power management setting is enabled or disabled. I can manually change the brightness, but it has very little effect. It seems that the maximum brightness is really low for a reason any.

  I don't know if Diablo 2 has nothing to do with this problem, but I though that I would include it here because it uses very outdated graphics techniques that seem not very compatible with Windows 8.1. I had to change the compatibility settings of the game executable for Windows XP Service Pack 2, force them to run with 16-bit colors and also to disable the composition of the bureau. After closing the game, icons on the desktop still seemed a little wide (they looked rather 16-bit color and had some weird artifacts) and I had to restart the tablet to correct. After the reboot of the Tablet, the desktop icons were back to normal, but my light issues began to arrive.

  My first attempt at solving this problem was in the shape of the tablet. I used my USB stick that has the factory settings on it to format the Tablet and reinstall Windows 8. The process was a success, and I had no problem of brightness either. However, after the update to Windows 8.1, then by restarting the Tablet, my issue with the brightness came back.

  My second attempt was to try to update my drivers. I ran the auto updater provided with the Tablet, and it updated my BIOS. Unfortunately, it has not fixed the problem at all. Then, I took a look in the BIOS and found levels of brightness in the video section. The parameters are the following:

  Brightness on battery: 7
  Brightness of AC: 15

  I've tried corresponding to the brightness of the battery at 15, but it has no effect. The light problems don't occur that the Tablet is connected to a power outlet or not, I wasn't really that surprised that it didn't work. A maximum brightness of 15 is normal? (what is a percentage?) I don't want to change these settings without knowing exactly what they represent to avoid damage.

  My third attempt has updated the chipset drivers which includes the video driver. I installed the chipset driver and suddenly after that the screen went black a few times during the installation of the brightness has been completely restored and colors looked nice and bright again. However, when I rebooted the Tablet I found that the problems of brightness was back. Very rarely when I restart the Tablet, the brightness is normal again, but it is super rare. A subsequent reboot simply results in brightness problems return immediately.

  A few other things worth noting that come with the light problems:
  -All color gradients are not smooth. You can very clearly see the differences in brightness when a picture goes to a light color to a dark like a lot of buttons in Windows 8 start menu. It reminds me a lot of 16-bit color;
  -Whenever I try to change the display settings in the Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel, nothing happens. No matter how much I fiddle with the brightness, contrast or gamma, nothing changes, even after you apply the settings.
  -Diagnostic in the BIOS tests said that everything is OK;
  -The complete diagnosis provided by the PC Dell Diagnostics program showed that each test passed successfully.

  I really hope that someone can help me with this problem. The screen is also very dark, it makes it quite difficult to use tablet. Thank you!

  Thanks for the reply! After much trial and error, I discovered that my graphics driver has been be corrupted by AVG 2014 somehow. After yet another format and reinstall of Windows 8, but without AVG 2014 this time, everything works great! : D

  Hey Pat,

  I managed to read the data by using the API of assembler contained in the SOAP request.

  I used the details Manager to retrieve the data.

  I plan to pick up large amounts of data using graphical technique parameter recursive calls. (EX: to extract 100 k records, call the same graph 10 times the page using records per page 10 k and incrementing the no for each call.)

  Please give your thougts about this, do you see any complication in my technique?

• Adding text on a photo in the book Module of Lightroom 4?

  Other coverage model, it doesn't seem to be any template that allows you to type directly on the photo - which can be a useful graphic technique.  I know that I could do in Photoshop and import it into Lightroom, but who would not easy chages in the type of text or color, etc and an interruption of the flow of the module work book.  It would be nice to be able to add a text box to a page.  Can we do now and I have not found the path?

• Problems of positioning in IE7

  I have one last question that I grew up at the end of my last post so I fugured, I would like to start a new. Everything on my index page is now looking how I want it except for the date of my block in the upper right corner. In IE 7 it is pushed down completely but its fine on everything else.   I think, you can not Inline styles (images) followed by a float.  That's why I moved first, the floating element that worked.

  Conversely too, would be to give the 2 images a float: left rule and then let the float: right for date field...

  In both cases, I still think that you need to resize one of the images by up to 10px.  You can even get away with. 5px, 10px was easier to test :-)

  May I also point out that the page loads very slowly, you can optimize the images one a little more to make them faster loading.

  Heya, I'm new to Flash. I code in other languages, PHP, XHTML, Javascript, CSS etc. I want to go into that. I was wondering how I can change a primitive oval object that is on the stage in actionscript. I noticed that you can not give it an instance name. I hope just as its possible. Any help appreciated.

  Looking through the documentation (must dig a bit to see inheritance and relationships between classes Shape, Sprite and graphic)... it doesn't look like this :( At least, not directly.

  Nothing for the rotation (such as movieclips, and that would make things much simpler)
  You can use a mathematical formula: graphics.moveTo (Center of the circle); graphics.lineTo (point on perimeter); graphics.curveTo (the end perimeter point); and then graphics.lineTo (Center of the circle again) - maybe "drawEllipse()" might work better than curveTo - someone ' one better with the details of the math to create arcs or portions of circles would need to chime.

  That would essentially give you a form of "PacMan" or filled area, dynamically created. I'm considering using it, or if I'd rather just draw a line (keep turning and drawing lines until the shape is created); the graphical technique, that I have just described you will probably give the best efficiency and smoother, a picture if you do it just once.

  [mine will be updated and change every second, so draw one line per second may be faster that redrawing an entire shape every second]

  Someone correct me if I'm wrong, or there is a better way to do...

  PS. mathematical formulas to determine the point (x, y coordinates) on the perimeter of the outer circle are:
  x = fly + (Math.cos (angle) * RADIUS);
  y = yCenter + (Math.sin (angle) * RADIUS);

  The only thing I would need to know, however, is how to define the ellipse so that it arcs perfectly the perimeter of the circle... it doesn't seem to be a tool of "arc". Maybe my calculations are just rusty...

• View seeks to create graphic animations in the videos, the FCPX is capable?

  Hello useful community! A two-part question.

  I'm just getting started on the video production and have some needs in mind. I hope you can let me know if FCPX can do that hopefully, if there is an obvious solution, I am missing, or some of you approach use.

  I'll be doing a few videos of interview style and will have several camera angles, with that I need to work. So if I understand correctly to work with iMovie, I'll have a main video timeline and then 'cut' in and out secondary structures for the other angles. But I must have a logo sitting in the corner as well. Is there still enough chronologies to cut in different camera angles while having a timeline showing the stationary chart? iMovie does not you have only your primary and another calendar cut in and out, but I hope that FCPX has the ability to overlay 2 more than at a time? Or maybe I'm going about this the wrong way need?

  The second part is linked, I want to be the logo/text animation because it is (as a brief introduction). Not throughout the entire video or something extremely complex, but to animate shapes and text sliding in such that the name of the speaker, the name of show graphics, etc... And I'm hoping to create my own custom animations, not the familiar "motions of text" located in iMovie. I feel like the examples I found online that all look like they have animations the same model and I hope for much more creative in this area occasionally, if that makes sense. In its most simple example I guess, the design and animation capabilities/techniques you can do in Keynote for graphics/text that can be market timed, fades, slides, etc.

  Is FCPX the right program to incorporate more complex forms of text animations as well? Or is it the work of another software?

  So I bought a Z1 - model WM427EA #ABU - and have already updated the RAM, I want to update the graphics card because AFAIK that comes with my model is completely s * the graphics on borderlands (game) look terrible on my Z1 and shiny on my new classmates Vaio all-in-one. I played with the graphics settings in the game without success.

  I looked inside the Z1 and couldn't find something that looks like a graphics card. I looked at other models - one with the quadro 4000 - and they seem to have a black box, one on the left side while mine was just an empty space: s. According to most of the sites I have a card/controller "Intel HD Graphics 2000 Dynamic Video Memory Technology."

  It would be possible for me to say buy a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 (http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+GTX+680 & id = 41) and paste it into my machine? I noticed that there a housing as if she had to go in a tower. I should locate and remove the controller/original graphics card before I could install it?

  I really hope HP havnt done so its only compatible with some cards. Which would defeat the purpose of the machine being easily expandable...

  Make sure it is the Xeon E3-1245v2 if you intend to do this (noting the "v2" at the end)

  It's a new architecture than the E3-1245 ("v1" If you want) and the v2 has a major upgrade to the graphics capabilities on the former model, will perform a little better for the CPU to destination as well tasks. It should work more fresh and quieter too, as an added bonus. It should not cost more than either a v1.

  You can buy units in a sales package retail or OEM (just naked CPU). You get a heat sink with the retail package, but you don't use it. There is not generally a big cost difference between the two, however, perhaps only a few £/ $ extra for the retail box. I tend to hesitate to ebay, unless I can't avoid it (as with the MXM cards). You have problems to find a 1245v2 to stock from several reputable providers and potentially get a better deal on ebay also.

  Replace the CPU isn't too difficult, but I recommend checking out a few guides before you try it yourself - I don't dive in details here on a generic CPU swap because there is nothing I can say that google or youtube will not tell you 10 times more.

  There is nothing particularly unique about the replacement of the CPU in the Z. The cooler is set by a few screws and simply lifts off once they are free (and the fans are disconnected from the motherboard).

  Once it is off, clean the bottom with something that won't leave a residue (e.g., not something as a solvent for nail polish with perfumes etc.. I use TIM Akasa cleaner and it works very well). Decliper and open setting around the CPU, pop in the new processor carefully, noting the location indicated by the arrow in the corner of the CPU lines until the arrow on the socket. Re-engage the strain relief and apply little thermal grease directly on the CPU (there are many on the market, I use Arctic Silver 5). Make sure not to apply too much grease, you're going to a very thin layer, better youtube it for technique.

  Then all that remains is to replace the cooler (making sure not to forget to plug back in), close the PC and fire.

  EDIT: One more thing-update your BIOS to the latest version before swap you the processors, it could not start with the E3-1245v2 with a BIOS earlier, which gives you a nice 'Uh Oh' moment, before realizing you have to UN-swap and then re - Exchange processors again.

  Hello.  Many games always tell me that I have the graphics drivers not updated.

  Playing Overwatch, I uninstalled and automatically updated graphics drivers. But looking at the site (site for my computer laptop support technique hp) they are still not updated and there are 5 drivers choice.  How should know which I expect?

  Now, pilots have version 8.810.4.1000, but I guess I probably want the Rev 8.830.6.2000. or the 8.882.2.3000.

  If anyone can help?

  The GPU is not extensible. I had a Y410 at some point. I also wanted to know if I can move to a better GPU from Intel built-in one. Unfortunately, laptops with an integrated GPU Y410 is the port required for a discrete GPU. Unfortunately, this is the case with most laptops with integrated graphics.

  When you start the monitor keep close to the newspaper because of "no signal". What load computer start in windows safe mode and the monitor is not closed, so I'm pretty confident that it is a problem of graphics card or something in windows. Sometimes I see the log on screen for a second high resolution before the screen goes black and I get no signal display on the monitor and he falls asleep.

• T420 Graphics support?

  I recently received a T420 for virtualization in a lab environment.  I do not VDI, but I don't want to run several virtual machines at once, which will be my daily VM.  I have no need of a GPU for thousands of dollars more but I want graphics better than the edge [] most of the servers are given.  No crazy game, but some GPU functions would be nice.  That's the problem.  It seems that ONLY cards that this guy supports are the Q4000 and Q6000 Nvidia cards?  Seriously?  Is this really the case? I don't care about Dell support but I am not allowed to use my graphics for a $100 Best Buy card?  I really hope I'm just something missing.  The T420 allows graphics cards Nvidia Q4000 or Q6000?  If not, what is someone knows why?  What is a bios limitation?  Is this some other limitations of the technique?

  Hi Zanzaboo,

  I'm not aware of what we have done to disable not taken in charge specifically video cards, although we certainly cannot guarantee their compatibility or we tested or them validated in all configurations and for this reason, do not recommend. For graphics supported on the T420 (as you correctly identified as the Q4000 and Q6000), you must disable video output shipped from the BIOS/system setup under embedded devices (pg 30-31, support.dell.com/.../T420OMen.pdf ) to get the video output. Note that when you do so, the video output of iDRAC virtual console will not be available until the embedded video is again enabled. I don't know of any reason you can not follow the same steps with an unsupported graphics card but I must stress we do not test or validate it and if it does not you would have any recourse under the guarantee (i.e. not replace us the motherboard for a defective PCI-e port for example). I don't know if PCI-e video passthrough works here, but you may need to configure the SR - IOV (just below the embedded video setting), by the needs of your hypervisor. Let us know how it goes and good luck!

• How to find the serial number of 8300 Gs graphics card please help

  I try contact evga tech support but I need the number of graphic series of 8300 Gs registration card of finished products for support technique evga. My pc is a Dell inspiron 530 pc exalted pix to A crash, I'm sure that the screen's video card problem.  I do not turn off the pc and open the computer case and find the 8300 GS graphics still then the Pc card serial number works well.   Do you mean you bought an EVGA 8300 GS on your own or being the 8300 GS installed by Dell?  The serial number will be on the retail box or on a sticker on the map.  You need to open your side panel and look on top of the card to get the serial number if necessary.  If installed by Dell, most likely you don't have any collateral at this stage on the 530.
