Graphics upgrade on Satellite A660 - 1 H 6

Hi all

Is anyone know how it is easy to update the graphics card from Nvidia in an A660 - 1 H 6? I saw a previous thread by saying that it is 'unlikely', although that A660 specifications say clearly there Intel HD integrated with a DISCRETE Nvidia 310 M graphics card. It means to me that the "discreet" card can be disconnected and replaced by another. Can anyone confirm if it is possible or not?

See you soon,.
Richard.

Update graphics card is not possible due to the design of specific laptops. Toshiba offers models of laptops with different graphics cards so that everyone who wants to buy the laptop must think before deciding which model of laptop want to buy.

Toshiba doesn't support these upgrades and doesn t offers support of warranty either.

  • Re: Satellite A660 - drivers graphics Intel & installation Service Pack 1

Hello, hope someone can help me.
I recently put in a new hard drive in my Toshiba Satellite A660 No. model. PSAW3A-15J06T, and after you have reinstalled Windows 7 (64 bit), SP1 is not presented as an option to upgrade to windows. I read on the microsoft site, my Intel Graphics HD Driver 8.15.10.2119 would make this problem and it should be updated.

I have had no success finding the right driver to fix this.
In Device Manager, the driver name is just "Intel(r) HD Graphics" date of 21/04/2010 driver, version 8.15.10.2119.
I upgraded my Nividia driver successfully for Toshiba downloads, but can't find a newer driver for the Intel(r) HD Graphics.

I desperately need to Service Pack 1 and can not just download it from the Microsoft Download Center either, because the info said to ensure that the drivers are up to date.

Can someone point me in the direction where I can download the right driver Intel Graphics. I looked at the Intel site, but its way just above my head.

    Hoping someone can help
    Karen

According to specification for laptop , your laptop comes with HP Win7 64 bit.

You have installed the original version of recovery which includes all drivers?
Anyway, in the past, I've got several machines Toshiba and after a certain period of time under Windows Update was always offered Service Pack 1 as option for the Microsoft Windows Update. Maybe not at the beginning of the specifications of its use with own OS preinstalled. Wait a bit.

To be honest, it is unclear to me that it depends on display preinstalled driver and I ve never done such an experience.

  • Satellite A660 - upgrade with keyboard backlight

I have a Toshiba Satellite A660-141. Initially, it was without backlid keyboard, but I recently bot a replacement with feature backlit for my laptop, but when I connect all backlit do not work... Can someone help me to activate it? All the world has the same replacement?

    Hello

I have this model of laptop, but AFAIK this light in the BIOS option is for function buttons. With this option, you can enable/disable illumination for these buttons.
In my opinion it has nothing to do with the keyboard.
Mobile phones with keyboard backlit have BIOS option for keyboard only and you don't have it so I think that it is not supported by the BIOS and upgrade is not possible.

That means the POST (power on self-test) screen appears; 4 GB or 8 GB of RAM?
All memory is recognized in the BIOS?
If so, then the memory has been recognized correctly and Windows 7 64-bit should be able to use all 8 GB of RAM.

  • Satellite A660: After upgrade to Win 8.1 BSOD is displayed using the keyboard

    Dynabook i7 3D laptop A660.

OK; so I updated my i7 3D Dynabook to form 8.1 Windows (x 64) Windows 7 (x 64), and now the laptop restarts everytime I start to touch the keyboard.

    Other wise works perfectly.

It took me two hundred hours to understand that I was typing on web sites usually when this re-boot occurs. And I could not remember how or why the computer restarted.

When I press the numeric keypad 'more' sign, I get the BSoD immediately. But there are a few presses of the numbers on the keyboard so he can do the same thing.

    I.E.
    If I press 1, 2, 3, its ok.
    But
    If I press 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, the laptop gets a BSoD and restarts.

I also installed automatic software (mouse) for a Microsoft mouse, that I was going to use. and I deleted in the "System Properties" after the problem has arisen; but there is no change.

Whenever I tap on the number pad (especially the plus sign), the PS stops with a blue screen of death BSoD.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Roger,
My knowledge the 8.1 Windows isn't supported by Satellite A660 because there is no driver Windows 8.1 special to this series of portable, but even if these drivers have not been released, is not a big problem to install and run the Windows 8.1 on this unit.

I m wondering how you installed the 8.1 to win on this laptop?
You upgrade Windows 7 to 8.1 Win or were you running a fresh install of Win 8.1?

Here's a nice page of Microsoft providing some FAQ about update for Windows 8.1
    [Windows 8.1 update: FAQ | http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/upgrade-to-windows-8]

In case you have done an UPGRADE to 8.1 Win, you can use Windows 8.1 Upgrade Assistant to check if your programs and devices are compatible with Windows 8.1.

I would be also interesting to know if the same BSOD would appear if external keyboard would be connected to the laptop.
When using the external keyboard would cause NOT of BSOD, I guess internal keyboard is faulty and could be the troublemaker.

  • Upgrade Win 8 to Satellite A660 - 18 PSAW3E Wizard

I have a Satellite A660-18, part No. PSAW3E which, according to the instructions on the site of Toshiba UK, I've upgraded to Windows 8.

Windows 8 tells me that I need to re-installToshiba Disc Creator and according to the website of UK from Toshiba, that I should be able to do this, (and whatever it takes), thanks to the Toshiba Upgrade Wizard.

So I follow the link on the site of the United Kingdom, and my Satellite A660-18 is not listed. Support page which I am bound to the United States seems to be only for drivers and does not in any case seem to list the upgrade wizard.

I tried a search on the US site and found and installed the upgrade wizard, but when I ran I got a message "this upgrade wizard does not support your region."

Can someone help me with this?

I have updated from other computers, (plu sort of it), without any problem whatsoever. but this one has pulling me my hair out.

    Thanks in advance.

    Peter

    Hi mate,

The upgrade of Windows 8 Wizard is available only for supported laptops Windows 8 models.

Your laptop does not seem to be earning 8 supported because it does not appear on this page from Toshiba:
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/JSP/checkWindows8Compatible.do?service=EU

Plus I found a Toshiba AU on the driver Toshiba Satellite A660 PSAW3E UE page

So download this message because you are using the wizard, which is not released from this unit.

I replaced the 4 GB sticks and it works fine.

    Hello

To me it sounds like it's modules are not compatible or have bad sectors
As Akuma writes, these performance modules are risky in notebook because you don t have options to change the values of latency than on desktop computers. So, I always prefer to upgrade computer laptop RAM Kingston modules.

But before that you buy other modules, try a BIOS update and load the default settings.

  • Satellite A660 - 1 H 7: is it possible to activate/upgrading to HDMI-CEC (Regza Link)

    Hello

I have come to discover the world of HDMI CEC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#CEC) and was hoping that I would be able to use this when connect my laptop (A660 - 1 H 7) to my TV... as it looks like my laptop is not this function under Setup HDMI is.

I tried with another, fancier laptop Toshiba and it works fine so I know it's possible with this TV (Samsung for what it's worth...)

Is it possible to upgrade this on its own? The rest of the laptop works pretty well as a media library so hoped that I could do that job! I know there are a few USB adapters for it but hoped to get built in.

    Kind regards

    Hello

As far as I know that not all Satellite A660 models were equipped with an HDMI port.
So this could be one of the reasons why the Regza Link isn't taken care of.

However, the fact is that the existing HDMI ports cannot be upgraded to Regza link (HDMI - CEC).
Either the material support it Regza link or it doesn t

You're really amazing. I've been reading your posts and I m wondering really how anyone can have as many strange questions on the laptop. I have Satellite A660 almost 8 months now and I didn't notice a single problem.

  • Satellite A660 - 1 HL-problems with the graphics card

    Hello!

This is my first thread so I apologize if I am doing something wrong and for my bad English. :)

Just bought a Toshiba Satellite A660 - 1 hl with two adapters, integrated and a GeForce GT 330 M. The integrated works well, but when I go to the dedicated I encounter problems. The non-adjustable resolution in optimal mode and windows in the operating system (windows 7) delays when moving. I can't get info on the map in all kinds of temperature programs or dxdiag and such others.

I tried to install the drivers from nvidia, Toshiba and windows update with no improvement. I can't run Windows expreince index because I get an error message or of any average games do I encounter error messages there as well. I begin to doubt that the drivers installed even.

I hope you guys can help out me :)

It comes to getting the error messages:

    http://ImageShack.us/photo/my-images...krmklipp3.jpg/

    http://ImageShack.us/photo/my-images/9/skrmklipp4.jpg/

You should test the RAM (memory) for problems using the Test of memory of Microsoft or the www.memtest.org (bootable CD).

To confirm that this is a hardware problem, you must save your documents and run recovery.

If the problem still occur on a new image, then the laptop should go to an ASP (Toshiba Service Center) for repairs (possibly a motherboard replacement).
