I'm in the United Kingdom had have a DT01ACA300 3 TB drive that failed. When I bought this drive, I confirmed it was three-year warranty as I wanted longevity. It does not now and in recent days has become unreadable.

Very interesting situation, I just bought 2x2tb P300 readers from Amazon and they were classified as "in bulk" and come in brown boxes, some comments said they would have only 1 year warranty, some have said 2, I just checked the warranty link myapps even and they show guaranteed thanks to the October 2019 which is 3 years and 3 months of the date of manufacture indicated July 2016 the purchase was from Amazon directly (seller registered as Amazon EU GmbH). Your likely came from some private rather than Amazon or other merchant?

    I'm hoping for a little clarity if a laptop warranty is invalidated if the hard drive is replaced for another title of model/difference. The company that I work buys models Tecra and Portege for these last years, if we decide to buy more large hard disks and get our IT Department install them will be that gap in the agreement of guarantee with Toshiba?

    I talked to Toshiba and they were a little gray in their response. They said that, if you didn't damage the laptop, it should be fine, but if you send it as an unrelated question, with what they can carry out repairs on the laptop if the hard drive does not match the orgional one provided...

    As much as I know RAM and HDD upgrade do not negate the warranty. For many models of laptops, you can find instruction how to do this. It is described in the document of the user s manual or you can find short videos on Toshiba documents (knowledge base).

    Even on this forum in the USER SELF REPLACEMENT section you will find instructions how to replace the hard drives.

    What you can also do is to contact the nearest Toshiba authorized service provider and check what they say on this subject.

    My laptop is fixed by virtue of the extended due to a hard drive failure warranty. HP has no problem, replace the defective drive. However, I asked that they return the drive failed for me, because it contains personal data and I want to make sure it is properly destroyed.     I can assure you that all personal data is secure when HP parts for refurbished devices used. HP treats thousands of thousands of pieces per day. Unless your failed hard drive is labeled "TOP SECRET" noone will give him a second glance. The trays are too sensitive for them to be swapped around without a clean room. They are destroyed. probably thrown in a dumpster somewhere.     If you have a phone number, I would call again and if possible to make reference to the number of appeal; You'll perhaps reach a more useful Rep. the Outphasing 69671 document once again, but also point out that it has been changed on 2008-08-25, printed at the bottom of the document, and it is up to date.     At least that I was wrong all this time, I don't see why you can't install your Ultimate 64-bit.
    You must do a clean install, because you install a 64-bit on a 32-bit computer.
    Your product key, however, is the same as your 32-bit.

At first, I thought it was the operating system, but after trying the recovery discs I ordered at HP, I thought it was my motherboard.  I thought I could replace it with the same. Bought the same exact motherboard from Ascendtech. I installed the Board of Directors. Then I inserted the recovery disk and got the following error message. "This computer does not support the system recovery media. You are not able to restore the system with the media". Called HP support and they basically said that I have to take the PC to an authorized service center, so they can program the new motherboard at the cost of about $200 the representative told me. I'll have to buy another copy of Windows 7? And it will install on the new motherboard. (Representative of HP was that it wouldn't) Help, please!

    I just ordered a replacement for a model Compaq Presario SR5710F discs.  Sequence number {private information deleted}.  Order BDLV132101. In the confirmation, I note that it says 3 disks Vista Home and my model uses Vista Home Premium.  Will I get the correct disks to restore this spare computer.  I'll be able to upgrade to Windows 7?

    Since there is a basic home edition and a Home Premium version, I would check with the HP Customer Service to ensure that the correct version has been shipped.

    Regarding the upgrade to Windows 7, it is no doubt possible.  Here is the page software & driver downloads for the computer.  It seems that most of the drivers are provided.  You should be able to find others by searching the Internet.
