Guest OS will not see the network

I have a new ESXi 5 host running.  I can connect to the host with the vsphere client.  I created two geust, a Windows XP OS and a 2008 Server.  I can't get a DHCP address on one of them, when I put a static address, I cannot ping anything other than the host machine.  Can not ping gateway, DNS, etc...  Also, I don't do a ping guests from a workstation on the network.  Any help would be appreciated.  Please let me know if you need other information.

Thank you

Mike

Welcome to the community,

This is often seen with managed switches. Please ensure the security of ports (for example the office mode) is not enabled on the physical switch ports. According to the model of switch, you must configure switchport access mode and spanning tree portfast for ESXi uplink ports.

If this is not enough, please provide details on the current configuration of the network (physical and virtual).

    Willman,

Unfortunately you are not alone. HP has sold a lot of different models with the M2N78 - motherboard. The problem is that the manufacturer of the Board of Directors (not HP) set up a controller chip NVidia which tended to overheat. Once this chip goes, ur stuck. The SATA ports are controlled by this chip.

  • My Windows Vista computer does not see the network or printers that are connected to a computer using Windows XP

before that norton was installed, it worked, but since Norton was installed AND DELETED, Vista will not see XP or its printers.

I have checked the firewall and they took two computers, but still no luck.

    Hello

    Did you change your computer?

This problem occurs if the (LLTD) link layer topology discovery Responder component is not installed on the Windows XP computer.

Network card in Windows Vista makes network diagrams of connections between network devices that can be used to troubleshoot connectivity issues. Network map uses a discovery protocol called Link-Layer Topology LLTD (Discovery) that queries other devices on the network to determine how the network is organized.

Windows Vista includes the software components that implement the LLTD protocol. For other devices on the network to display on the map, they must activate a discovery protocol that can meet the demands of mapping from the Windows Vista-based computer.

I suggest you to install the update on windows XP.

  • Do not see the networks wireless on my laptop under XP sp3.

    I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite 5 years old running Windows XP with SP3 and until the other day, he has been working very well.  Then the other day I started to clean my laptop to try to maintain it falls slower then it already is. (Glary Utilities, CCleaner, etc...)  Then all of a sudden I could no longer connect to my wireless network.  But if I plug it in wired Ethernet works fine but when I search for wireless networks to connect with, nothing appears on the pop-up window.  If I hit refresh, I get the same thing.  Here are a few things that I did to solve problems;

    1. made sure that the Radio will switch on the side of the laptop was on. (duh!)

    2. uninstalled the wireless network adapter in the Device Manager and allowed the operating system to reinstall it on reboot.

3 both upgraded AND rolled back the Adapter.drivers wireless.

4 power up the system Mode safe mode with network access and got the same thing.

I have three other computers/laptops with wireless connection in the House and they all work very well.  And all of them show many wireless networks in the region.

All ideas are welcome.  I'm all ears.  Thank you.

    Hello

If your router not booking IP use.

Otherwise, configure the computers with static IP addresses.

Then go to sharing and permissions.

    Maybe this can help.

Make sure that the software firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall on, Vista/XP Firewall Native should be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions

    General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq.html#trusted

Please note that some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled). If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic. If the 3rd party software is uninstalled, or disables, make sure Windows native firewall is active .

  • Why my DVD player will not see the disc of Windows 7 Installation?

The TEAC DV-W58E DVD on my Dimension PC drive will play videos and games and will read and write data on DVD.

Why he won't see the Windows 7 Installation disc that has delivered today? It's the only drive, that he has never read. He don't think that the drive is empty, sees just 0 used bytes, free 0 bytes.

The drive is seen by the two other PCs but not one I want to install W7 on.

My PC runs XP Professional and the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor test and is up-to-date with Windows Update and has the latest driver for the DVD drive.

I can't install the new operating system unless I can get the PC to read the disc.

Cause the most likely not to read the DVD, is that its firmware is too old.  Double layer and encryption more recent methods are old 1 x, 2 x and 4 x dvd drives cannot read 16 x media recorded.

Windows 7 has some minimum requirements.

Windows 8 adds a lot of SPECIFIC requirements as NX Bit is supported in the BIOS.

If you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here's what it takes:

    • 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x 86) or (x 64) 64-bit processor

    • 1 gigabyte (GB) of RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit), this excludes most INTEL 815 chipset

Pentium 3 systems.  512 Meg is MAX for the 815 chipset.

    • 16 GB of disk space available (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)

    • DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver.

  • OfficeJet 6500 a: Officejet 6500 a will not recognize the network password

I did a print wireless for years with my Officejet 6500 a and Windows 7.  I have a new computer with Windows 10 and a new router with the new network.  The printer detects the network, but he repeats to me that the password is not valid.  I used the password successfully for my phone and iPad.

    Some things to check are:

If you have not yet done, (re) install the software feature complete for the printer:

  • New device of U2 vCenter 5.5 will not access the network

    Hello

I just installed a new 5.5 ESXi host and on that I deployed the OVF of the original version of vCenter 5.5.  It worked, but I wanted to try the new vCenter 5.5 U2.  So, I deleted the old device of my ESXi host and deployed the OVF of Unit 5.5U2 vCenter.

As a first step, this unit could not get a DHCP address (was the old server to the device).  I connected and run/opt/vmware/share/vami/vami_config_net and set up my gateway, IP address, host name and the DNS servers.  After you apply the configuration, I was unable to ping the new vCenter device.  A reboot didn't help.  In addition, the shell, I am unable to ping my local gateway.

Where to resume the troubleshooting?  I did other changes to the device when it was deployed.

Something really strange is passed to the physical card on the ESXi host - I noticed that my test Server 2003 guest was not either the ping requests.  Restart the host did not help.

On vSwitch0, I have changed the NIC to 1000/full, had a mistake, changed to automatic, and then things trading as magically started working.

  • ESXi 5.5 will not see the data store when it is installed on the HP SD flash card

Today, I installed an HP 4 Gb flashdisk on a new server HP ML350p gen8 Bion P72 (most recent). This server contains 4 300 GB SAS drives in a RAID5 configuration with 1 logical drive. This drive works fine. When you install a Windows Server live on this subject, the logical drive that appear.

Installing ESXi 5.5 I choose 2 location to install to, a SD flash disk and the logical disk of SAS. I installed it on the SD flash drive. But after that I started the vSphere client and any data store is seen here. The RAID5 logical drive is not there.

During installation 5.5i directly on the logical volume Raid5 ESXi, vSphere sees the logical volume and can use it.

How do I install ESXi 5.5 on the SD HP flash disk and use the logical disk as data store? Why I can only see the drive now?

    THX!

    1. it works both on customized HP iso and ISO VMware 5.5i

2 when installing ESXi 5.5 on the RAID 5, the rest of the volume, she prepares as VMFS, because it is disk0'.

If you do not use the raidvolume for the installation of VMware, you must configure it in the vSphere client. There, you have to format the raidvolume.

    It does not work.

    Spoiler (Highlight to read)

Although the printer print wireless, the scanner reports that the scanner is not found.

HG532 routers do not using "multicast", is the problem?

Probably the router either do not support multicast or does not support the Hello (mDNS) or does not support it properly.

Try restarting the router by pulling its plug momentarily.
