H9 - 1215t: connect a drive hard 3rd

I have a H9 - 1215t with a motherboard IPMMB-FM (Formosa) (http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03132942 - 4 Sata connectors on the motherboard are used for 2 hard drives and optical drives 2.

There is a SATA5 open (black) and a SATA4B3 (red).  It seems that these ports require a different SATA data cable that you used for the SATA - 4 ports 1.

If so what cable is needed and can use either of these 2 ports to connect an additional hard disk Samsung SSD 850 PRO?

Data cables Serial ATA (SATA) are standardized.
There is an eSATA connector, used for external drive connections.
http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_ATA#Data_connector

The Formosa Pegatron motherboard has 6 drive x SATA connectors.
Look carefully AT the serigraphy on the motherboard (torch lighting) markings.

Two connectors are marked SATA 0-1, these are compliant with SATA III 6 Gb/s.
Normally used for priming or mirror drive high performance.

Four connectors are marked SATA 2-5, they are compliant, SATA II 3 Gb/s.

There also doesn't seem to be anywhere to connect the data cable to the 3rd disc as hard disks 1 and 2 cables and 2 dvd/blu ray optical readers use the only available on the motherboard connections. • Can I connect a drive hard thunderbolt to two Macs?

I have an iMac and my main storage device is a disk hard thunderbolt (double disk RAID).  I also have a mac mini as a server and I would like to set up the service of time machine, but only if it can store backups on the same drive external thunderbolt.  I know there are two ports thunderbolt on the disc, but I guess it can be used only with one computer at a time.  Is this true? Or is it possible to connect the disc both computers at the same time? (Even if it is only used for the service of time machine).

That's right the led drive only be attached to a single Mac.

You can have backups from two Mac on disc one hard, if you share the Mac disk drive that is connected. The second Mac then backup over the network to the first Mac who will write the data on the hard drive.

  • Impossible to find connect them drive HARD Light and Power light after the change of office case - I got my answer

I changed my case for reason of cooling, and I can't do the power light and the light work of HARD drive on the new case. I searched in vain on the web for the specification of the motherboard. The original HP PC is a HPE 130F. Motherboard is a H-RS880-Μatx (Aloe)
Manufacturer: Foxconn. I found a few spec but not enough details on connector J18.

The original front panel connector is an all-in-one type. I found the power switch and the reset light connector J18 but cannot do the work of LED.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thank you.

Hello CeD_B, I'm not familiar with your card connectors mother special façade, however if cables (wires) are inserted in a plastic connector, you may remove the wires and connect them individually. They are usually labeled.

The son of LEDs for the power switch and the hard disk activity are polorized, which means they have a plus and a downside that should be connected to the pins on the motherboard in the correct polarity.

If you have connected to power led and HDD led pins on the motherboard and the lights are not just back the sons and the led should light up, and the hard drive activity led should light up when the hard disk is written to or retrieved from the hard drive data.

While this image is not your motherboard, it will offer an idea of connections pin on some motherboards.

  • Computer "not responding" when I connect the external hard drive.

    Hi all

When I connect my external hard drive to my laptop, it is detected and the icon for the material appears in the taskbar background. But when I go to my computer, it happens that does not. I can always open other programs etc that are not related to the hard drive, but nothing to do with the hard drive "fails". As soon as I plug it on, the laptop starts responding again. I tried it on another laptop and the same thing happens.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Wendall81,

-How long have you had this problem?

    Follow the steps below:

    Method 1:

Step 1: Boot in safe mode and check if the problem persists.

See Advanced startup options (including safe mode) for more information about starting in safe mode.

Step 2: If the problem does not occur in safe mode, you can put your system to boot (in normal mode) to solve the problem.

See How to solve a problem by performing a boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.

    Method 2:

Run a check disk on the external hard drive.

For instructions, see check your drive for errors .

Note: If any bad sectors are found by running the check disk utility and recovery of the attempt of bad sectors option is checked when checking the disk for errors, data in the bad sector can be lost as they tried to recover bad sectors. Gokul - Microsoft Support

I understand that you have a problem when connecting your external hard drive to your computer. This could be a hardware or to issue drivers. It is also possible that your cable is defective. • To the OS to drive HARD internal new internal SDS with 1 single socket (so I can connect only to 1 at a time)

    Hello

I want to improve my netbook by changing my old and slow a new SSD HDD, but I expect a BIG PROBLEM. My computer is running Win7 Original from an OEM (Dell). Microsoft won't give me an ISO of Win7 OS file because the OEM must (when I enter the key of product before downloading, it tells me that Dell must provide me with ISO). Dell will provide an ISO file or a bootable USB key because their customer support is BAD. The problem is that I have no idea how to do to transfer the Win7OS from the old HDD to the new SSD.

I considered the cloning of my old internal HARD drive to my new internal SSD, but given that only one of them can be pluged simultaneously (only 1 plug into the motherboard), I don't see how I could do this. I'm not an expert on cloning of hard drives, so you might know something escapes me. IF YOU DO, PLEASE TELL ME.

Please consider that I also have a HARD drive external that I could use, if necessary, to transfer the OS (example: 1. clone the OS from the HARD internally for the external HARD disk drive.) 2. replace the drive HARD internal with the new internal SSD and 3. Clone the operating system from the external HARD drive to international it SSD. I have no idea if this is possible or how to make STEP 3 of this example. I don't know even if the external HARD disk clone can function as a bootable disc). Also, consider that this netbook is not a CD/DVD unit.

I would appreciate your opinions, experience and solutions for this problem,

    Thank you very much!!

    Hello

Thank you for being part of the Microsoft Community.

Alternatively, you can perform an installation of the operating system directly to an SSD instead of the transfer option.

Check the below link that talks about the transfer of the operating system to an SSD.
