Hello

Thanks for posting.

Unfortnetly the user forums is managed by HP customer like you and me for the most part, so the chances of a person has been able to help in this case is quite thin. Your best bet is to phone HP numbers are here and tell them about this problem, if you are not with them. You can try and ask to speak with there customer service, these are the people who have the most power in call centers, so if you ask them nicley they may be able to help.

Once more I do not work for Hp if it is something puerley I mean you could get somwhere.

Good luck.. Keep us on how you can

James

EDIT: You may also be able to contact higher than people such as managers of customer service by selecting the option of the company instead of support afer by selecting your country and language from the link above, once you have done this, you can select Executive Director email or the comments button General according to which country you are in.

DV7-3065DX, 16 months old and HD died a few days earlier, totally dead. I ordered a replacement, but now that I am out of warranty and of course I have no operating system (as it was on the disc now dead), can I order the disks with a discount at HP? Their office is closed now. Can I get Windows 7 family of Amazon for about a hundred bucks, but as I have a valid key on the back of this laptop hate the idea of paying for an OS I used legitimately. Thank you!

You can order a recovery disc of HP for around $ 16. The game will reinstall Windows and all original drivers & software on the laptop.

  • EliteBook 8540p: HARD drive, out of warranty failure

Our laptop Elitebook 8540 P gives a terrible warning about the imminent demise of the hard drive.

    Failure ID is 90F953-5B67SD-XD7U3A - 60A 503

    Product ID is XT924UA #ABA

    Capacity is 320 GB

So, looks like it's time to replace the HARD drive. I saved the document, making a system image and a repair disk. My question is, how do I proceed from here?

It would also be nice to know why the warnings are produced. Operation seems normal.

    See you soon.

The warning is a good thing - in a bad situation. The hard drive is under surveillance and warning is always a heads-up before he finally dies on you, so you can get a backup.

You can buy a Mobile SATA Hard Drive to install and then start with your repair disk to restore the Image of detail. Just be sure to get a capacity at least equal as the 320 GB or more.

  • Replacing hard drive for laptop after Windows update failure

The internal hard drive is not now on our Pavilion dv9700 CTO Windows Vista 64-bit. I would like to replace it with a hard drive from equivaltent, but I am unsure on how to provide for the operating system (we want Windows7 instead of Vista) and productivity software (essentially MS Office Pro). What is the best way to go about this? I have Win7 CDs I have installed on another computer that has also died and gone out of service, so I prefer to use them rather than buy a new license. Ditto for the OEM Office supplied with this notebook.

Please provide suggestions that you will need to perform this type of upgrade. We must keep costs at a minimum right now and since nothing else seems to be failing on the 9700 repalcing the part and reconfigruing seems the best way to go. Thanks in advance for any help.

You can replace it with this number of HP spare. It will be smaller, slower, and 3 times more expensive. Computer laptop SATA hard drives are interchangeable, generic, industry standard. If you buy the one above and it doesn't work PM me and I'll buy it for you at your expense.

  • keep the second hard drive as duplicate in case of failure of the first disc

I installed the second hard drive of the same size mfg and would not lead copy. Now I want to keep up-to-date with the first hard drive so that if the first drive fails, can I use the second drive until I get replacement for the failed drive. Never forget backups all have problems when you need them.

You can not do it legally.

    Vista installation rules:

A single license is a single Installation.

This applies even on the same computer.

  • My hard drive was wiped out. How can I log on to the built-in camera?

OK, so one of my lame friends downloaded something that gave my computer a virus, another lame friend erased the hard drive. All this happened so I was missing, so I don't know exactly what it does, but my computer has no images, music or programs except the stuff to sample it came with. There not all products of Microsoft Word, so that he used, or many other programs.

This was not too much a problem, because all I really do is go on the internet, but I would use the camera that is embedded in the computer. Do I need to download a program? Looks like there should be a way I can just access, but I can't understand it.
    Thank you!

    Hello

    Troubleshoot camera connection
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/Troubleshoot-camera-connection-problems

You probably need to recharge the device drivers and camera control software (usually included
with the drivers and installed at the same time).

    Login as an administrator.

Double-click Control Panel / Device Manager - Imaging - writing down of the brand and model of camera.
on this subject and on the tab of the driver is version. Now, click on update drivers (who are unable to do anything as MS
is far behind the pilots of certification). RIGHT click on the camera - UNINSTALL - REBOOT - it
    will update the driver stack.

Now, go to the system manufacturer's website and download the latest driver for the camera and the other related camera
software (if not more recent get the same).

Download - SAVE - go to them and RIGHT CLICK - RUN AS ADMIN - reboot after each driver.

Manually look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers.
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/HT/driverdlmfgr.htm

Installation and update of drivers to 7 (update drivers manually using the methods above is preferred
to make sure that the latest drivers from the manufacturer of system and device manufacturers are located)
    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/43216-installing-updating-drivers-7-a.html

    =====================================================

Check with the system manufacturer's support, their documentation online and the drivers and ask
in their forum (if there is one) on the need known problems.

    I hope this helps.

  • Pavilion D7 4177nr blank screen with cursor five days out of warranty.

I have a Pavillion D7 portable 4177nr.   I have not had any problems with it by the window / the warranty period.   Five days after the expiration of the warranty I used it, walked for 20 minutes and returned to find a blank screen with blinking cursor.  I ran the diagnostics and everything passed.  I can't start in safe mode.  .   I am extremely disappointed, because I really liked this assistance please phone!

Can you boot into the BIOS screen (pressing F10 when booting) and check if the laptop can be started in it?

If so, I recommend to run the system diagnostics and check if the hardware on the unit works very well.

In case it does, you can check if you can press F11 and restore your computer to factory settings. Please make sure that you back up your data before performing a recovery.

You will need to separate contacts, they cause a short circuit and blocking system. Once you have the gift that the system should boot normally.

  • CHKDSK problem or hard drive failure?

    Initial post:

Hello, I may be in the wrong place, so you can direct me to where I can ask my question.

Just got back from vacation 2 weeks and my wife discovered she began to receive some kind of message "error." I discovered that whenever the computer is turned on, it now tells me to run the chkdsk utility. As usual, it takes several minutes to perform his task. Nothing wrong is indicated, then it starts normally. Next time that the computer is turned on, same cycle. It's never happened before. Last night, I ran across 6 startups with the same results.

The system is Win7. Computer was built with all new interiors in Dec of 2013.

I'm reading through some of the posts here but I'm a bit confused on what to do or how. Is there something wrong that might have recently caused it to start? (I ask this question because my wife has used to be around computers and electronics, when things start to get weird)

    Any help would be welcome.

    Thank you.

    Concern for follow-up:

I've been playing with some of the initial proposals offered to try to circumvent this problem without success.

I found out from the following: I can't do a "System Restore" that I get some response suggesting a 'corrupt C drive '.

And, while I was out of town, a parent of a young visitor has apparently downloaded a game program without my knowledge.

I tried to do a safe Boot and get to the window displaying the downloaded windows files. At the bottom of the screen, it tells me to "Please wait:.» After about 6-7 minutes, the machine restarts by itself and seems to start successfully to the blue welcome page. However, after closing everything down and restart again once, I still get the chkdsk 'needs to run... '. "once again. I don't play this step correctly?

I noticed just a few posts here regarding the possible comments "hard drive is running out." Any relationship or similarity with what I can see from the "System Restore" also noted a possible C drive problem?

The C drive is a WD 2 GB device installed new in Oct of 2013, so I'm surprised if it's bad already... but these things happen.  Help!

Correct intuition of zig - zag that the hard drive has failed. Your drive is a failure, can be fixed by you and must be replaced.

Follow its says on the backup of your important data as the car is still under warranty and should be returned for a replacement: http://support.wdc.com/warranty/

When you receive your replacement meter test using these two utilities:

    (1) WD utility: http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=611&sid=30&lang=en

    (2) HD Tune: http://www.hdtune.com/

    (3) pass marks burn in test: http://www.passmark.com/
Burnin test, and their test bench at the same time give a good workout from all the major parts of Windows.

The paid versions of HD tune and PassMark are worth the investment as the two are testing the drive completely.

Note: When each of the 3 test above is complete check the SMART values for any signs of deterioration.

  • hard drive test failure

Hello, I receive the text next message when I swtich the laptop on:

"SMART hard drive control has detected an imminent failure. To ensure no loss of data, please save the content immediately and run Diagnostics in the Testin hard drive system.

    "Hard disk 1 (301).

When I run the hard drive test in the diagnostic system, this appears:

    "Road test: 1."

    HDD SMART Check: FAILURE

    FAILURE ID: PTR04C-6LD763-MFPWWJ-60VF03

    Hard drive 1

    "Test drive: FAILED.

When I start the laptop works fine, internet and all other devices work, scanning local disk C: and D: Recovery detects any errors. I tried to update it, but the message still appears.

I wonder what may be the problem, any suggestions?

The laptop never gave me a prblem to date, I bought it a year ago, last week I had to change the DVD player, which was the only change I had to make. After that, I started to have problems with him, like blue screens, indicating "Critical process is dead" and "kernel data page mistakenly".

I also CD/DVD given to me at the time of the purchase, which I think are necessary for backup and recovery, but I don't know how they actually work.

    Thank you.

  • HP ENVY 14-2160se hard drive failure

There is an "error reading drive" when I start and it does not start in windows at all. I did a hard drive test in BIOS and the short DST failed and the failure id is GTU23F-5QF788-XD6V5F-60UR0 for 1 hard drive. I know there is an SSD of 80 and 750 HD but that one failed?

If the ssd has failed can I use the 750 GB HD or does take both?

If I need to replace the SSD I can replace it with a regular HD (on a budget) and which drive size do I need? 2.5?

If in warranty, you can get a guarantee of replacement free of charge for you.

The failure code is for the old hard drive, not the SSD. SSD failure is not common.

You can replace the hard drive with a drive hard laptop SATA (2.5 ") is the same size and up to 1.5 terabytes.
