hard drive fill by itself

I just bought a hp a6750f with 750 GB HDD 8 GB memory, quad processor works great, but it fills slowly with stuff 2 or 3 concerts a day, I think it's to get it online, CV Tech took control and just delete the temporary files, that is not the problem... I restored to factory settings and now 3 weeks later there are 120 exhausted concerts... I have nothing except a printer on this computer whence all this?  Help, please...

Probably that Vista in system restore, is set to use a very high % of hard drive space. Most users to be able to limit it manually.

  • Hard drive fills up fast

    Original title: Decreases the memory:

I have xt pro on my cmp - very little, other than IE8, Word, Excel. Nothing great. Be "topped up" several times with disc 'restore' since the performance was slowing down. Gradually, the HARD drive fills up: after the last reading memory 30 GB charging used; 10 GB free. I think that xp is only about 1 GB - what am I doing wrong?

    Ken

Thanks for all the suggestions. Tried and thought about them, but made no difference. However, I found the answer:

When you use the disc to 'restore' every time I was simply stack several operating systems on top of those already here. I have about a dozen versions or more I suspect No. 1 partition. This time, where do my last (I hope) restore today I paid more attention to writing when the options are available on the "formatting" the drive. Now, I completely formatted the Partition No. 1 (where I suspect that all versions of xp are kept) and pressed. Of course, the restoration has worked well and I now only ONE version of XP on my system. The display of 'properties' on the drive C: tells me now that I have less than 2 GB used and 28 GB FREE!

    Result?

Thanks again for the suggestions - that made me think a little more deeply...

  • My hard drive filled

My hard drive is full but not because I downloaded large files, and I can't identify it as waste is that fills the disk. How can I clear the space?

You will see in my previous two answers that everything seems fine, except that I have no idea how the issues have been brought to rights.

I had run Defragmenter a few days ago, but it made no difference. I was about to follow your advice about system restore etc when I discovered that it was apparently useless.

My only concern is now that, as I have no idea why the problem arose, I also have no idea how to do to stop this happening again!

Nevertheless, thank you very much for the advice very detailed.

  • Hard drive fills up very fast Max to 109GiG. I'm running out of space. What is take up space?

I have a small hard drive 109Gig and there are very few programs that run on it. When I try to search for large file sizes I found in users and windows. Further research in these files does not reveal what is content. Where can I search in an attempt to reduce the space used or should I buy another hard drive? The system was backing for a long time, but recently, I have disabled back upward. I used restore a few months ago. Windows take the 22.7 Gig and users take 11Gig?

    Thank you Ken

I think you're right for the size of the disk. It is just too small by today's standards. Fortunately, I have another hard drive which is a direct copy of the computer as a back up. I hope that I can copy my files to a larger drive and solve the problem.

  • System Restore fills hard drive

I used Windows XP Home Edition for years, with no problems.  However, in recent weeks, I noticed my hard drive filling up at a rate of almost 1 G new data per day.  I didn't add all the new programs, so I suspected a Virus or a Trojan.  I use Avast Anti-virus and keep SpyBot and SpywareBlaster running and updated.  I ran full scans with these programs and found no problem.  I even downloaded a copy of AVG anti-virus and done a scan with it problems... No..  Then, I came across a program called 'TreeSize' who did a real good job to tell me what's really on the hard drive.  BIINGO!  It seems that my system restore file increases by nearly 1 G per day.  I had about 2 months, control in the system restore points, so I changed the settings about 25 g and lost most of my restore points... AND, my hard disk capacity has increased almost 20 g.

Windows has changed something in the month last about restoring the operating system?  I've never seen this phenomenon until just last month.  Now that I know what is eating my hard disk space, I can recover easily, but I think something has changed recently to cause this.  The ONLY thing I added to my files in the month were updates of Windows.

Even after many years, I have only about 20 G on my hard drive, so it was unusual when I started to see the volume of data up to 40 G.  This just started about 3 or 4 weeks... and I did not install new programs.

Now that I put the restore settings to 25G, I saw no repetition of this 'growth' in the past 2 or 3 days... so time will tell if this fixed my "whim".

As I said, you must set SR to 1 GB... No 25 GB.

I guess the sentence I have in bold above means that you have a separate partition for your data.  You don't need restore the system monitor this partition (disc) at all.  Retrieves a few pieces of Bert K site linked in my previous post (emphasis added):

    • System Restore monitors changes to the system and saves the State of the system as a restore point.
    • System Restore does not restore user data or documents, so it will not cause users to lose their files, email, browsing history or Favorites.
    • System Restore monitors and restores a set of file system and application, the States of these files before the change of the archiving system. System Restore also records a snapshot of the registry (Note: some current registry values will persist) and some dynamic system files.
    • Files that are monitored or excluded from the monitoring are specified in the file % windir%\system32\restore\Filelist.xml.
    • To restore a system, System Restore undoes file changes made to the files monitored, taking over the State of the file at a time of the restore point selected. It replaces the current registry with one registered for the selected restore point.

If indeed you watched a "data disc" and it was the system restore on this drive that increased, it seems that if one of the applications, which stores the data on this disk does not respect the following recommendations:

    • To make sure that your application has the behavior desired after a restore, follow these steps:

      • Be sure to use the extensions compatible with those used in the Filelist.xml file binary application key to protect. For more information, see Monitoring of file Extensions.
      • Do not use controlled types of extensions for files modified by the user. For example, if you name the file of personal data of a user using the .ini extension, the user may lose work because of a system restore.
  • Rash, the problems of computer control: use of 100% of the CPU, hard drive is filled Up, & drivers Drop Off - what happens?

My computer keep meeting the same types of problems faced by systems of many other people. My CPU goes to 100% use when I'm streaming a video. No matter if I use the Flash or HTML 5 player, the problem persists, my hard drive fills up, and now my Intel (r) 82801 PCI Bridge - 2448 driver is down, what happens?  I come on this forum and find others looking for answers to problems of the same nature. I don't know any of these people, but we are the same kind of problems. The only link I know that we have is 'Internet '. I don't know if it's a virus or some other bad online. Anyone with computer knowledge can see another link that can be the cause of these problems? It would be a good start to solve these problems. Obviously, something is happening or something happening around these problems.  Tips on how to find a common point or a fix would be much appreciated.

  • How to set up the second hard drive

My Mac Pro has two, the hard drives of 1 TB.  I had originally planned on the use of the second hard drive for Time Machine.  However, instead of using Time Machine, I now save by cloning my first hard drive to an external hard drive using Carbon Copy Cloner.  I did not use Time Machine in a year and do not expect that I have to use more.

My first hard drive fills up-I have about 150 GB unused on it, and with video editing I'm is squeezed.  What is the best way to configure my system so that I can use my second, now sleeping, hard drive? Is it possible of them gang up together so that my system will behave as if there is a 2 TB HDD?

    Thanks in advance.

    Yes. It is called RAID.

  • Save the files and format the hard drive?

I have a MacBook 2012 mid pro and the hard drive fills up with data and applications, I don't want anymore. So I want just to format the drive and install a fresh OS x and only the applications and the data I need. Is it possible to just copy the folders with the data I want to save... on an external drive?... like music, movies, Documents... then format my internal drive and load El Capitan. When can I then copy these files on the original drive and have things work the same or improve skills?... when using Photos and iTunes and iMovie? I do not use Time Capsule... cause he will restore a bunch of stuff I don't want. Has any tried this? or have better ideas?

Yes, you can if you wish. Don't forget some features such as the preferences settings will be not recorded, unless you know where to look.  As for iTunes and Photos you must register the complete library of media files.

  • Cannot access external hard drive after changing the drive letter in vista

The drive letter for my external hard drive has changed itself, I have tried to change the letter back to what it was, but still cannot access the drive.  Diving is in my computer, but when I try to open it it tell me I need to format.

    Hello

I suggest you to contact the manufacturer of external hard drive for better assistance.

  • Replacement for 2nd hard drive

My HP Pavilion Media Center m7790e has 2 hard drives, a main hard drive 320, and the 2nd drive hard 160 GB (Seagate ST316081 1AS SCSI) which I use to backup my My Documents folder and to store multimedia files TV.  My operating system is Vista Home Premium.  My problem is that the 2nd hard drive fills up very fast and I need more storage.  I'm unable to use an external hard drive that is due to the fact that my USB 2.0 ports cannot be upgraded to 3.0 and I think that the speed of USB 2.0 file transfer would be boring.  I considered a 640 GB pocket media drive, but HP said that a media player of Pocket would be no faster than an external hard drive connected via a USB 2.0 port.  I guess the drive hard internal speeds are much better.  I don't think I can add a 3rd hard drive so I plan to replace the 160 GB with a 500 GB hard drive or a disk more.  Appropriate recommendations would be appreciated.  If there are other mods I should improve file transfer speeds, I'm all ears.  Thanks in advance.

Sorry I have not responded earlier. There is a huge difference between a SATA connection and a SCSI connection. Unless you have installed a third-party interface card, I don't think that your computer has a SCSI connection.

Your computer does not have a SATA III interface, but the reader must be compatible with your machine, similar to the way USB 3.0 interfaces are retro-compatible with 2.0 devices. They simply will work as fast as possible in the faster connection. But this does not mean that you should not throw the disc the fastest as you can in your computer. Unless there is a huge price for one of these drives premium, I would use them rather than paying for something with dated technology.

  • Connect a NTFS HARD drive directly to the virtual system without format (ESXi 5.0)

Hi, I am fairly new with ESXi and everything, so this may be a very stupid question. I installed ESXi 5.0 without any problem and it converted my old win Server 2008 without problem. Windows worked also as a data store and he had pretty much full 1 TB HARD drive connected to itself. Now, I would like to know how this HDD to NTFS to directly connect to this virtual machine. I can see the disk devices, but I could not find a way to connect to this computer. I wanted to make data store or something like that, but that in fact the data store is not possible without formatting the drive.

I would be grateful for any suggestion. Thank you

    Welcome to the community,

Although not supported (I suppose that the system is in any way a Whitebox) you could try to attach the drive as a ROW for the virtual machine. For how this can be done, take a look at http://www.vm-help.com/esx40i/SATA_RDMs.php

  • My hard drive seems to be fill by itself.

    Separated from this thread.

What is your computer brand and model

    Is your Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit?

To study disk space, use download and install Treesize (freeware).

    https://www.Jam-software.de/customers/downloadTrial.php?ARTICLE_NO=80&language=en&PHPSESSID=6odgempt76un9q9nkj7luf5be0

    Information about Treesize
    http://www.Jam-software.com/treesize_free/

When you open Treesize scan select in the Menu and you will see a list of drives. Click on C and it will generate a list of files. Display names and 6 larger files sizes and the total at the top of the list.

I'm not the person who started the thread to which you gave this advice, but I share the same problem.  My hard drive seems to be fill by itself.  I have scanned for viruses (McAfee) and malicious software (Spybot S & D) and there is none.  It seems that after 10 to 20 GB of space to clear, within days he is new.  I look in the current process and I have no idea what these things are.

I have Windows 7 (SP1) Home edition Premium 64 bit running on a desktop computer HP p6270z with an Athlon II x 4 620 processor, 2.6 GHz, I bought in 2007.

The C drive is 452 GB and right now I have 731 MB of free space.

    TreeSize tells me the following:

total line of the top = 123.6 GB

6 points below albums that are:

    40,5 GB Windows

    Users of 39.0 GB

    ProgramData 22.2 GB

    11.6 GB Program Files (x 86)

    6.0 GB [4 files]

    2.7 GB program files

It doesn't seem to be accounting for the majority of which is placed on the hard drive.

I want my disk space hard back.   I have a 452 GB HDD and my data contains 39 GB yet I have no place.  It is at the origin of things is not to work properly.

  • hard drive 3 TB hdwc130ak3j1 dismantling itself

Hi, I have a hdwc130ak3j1 of 3 TB external hard drive which I use for backup. It rises from the United Nations itself during backups longer for reasons that I don't understand. Say, it will run for an hour and then mounted in the middle of a backup. This is obviously embarrassing. I wonder if there is a firmware update available? do a search using 'hdwc130ak3j1' on the toshiba support site translates into nothing, as if such a hard drive never existed.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • BIOS pass no HARD drive itself.

The computer is HP Pavilion p6-2133w. Product # QW728AA #ABA. Windows 7 32 bit. No changes have been made. It started about two weeks ago. After the shut down and restart the BIOS changed the HARD drive for people with reduced mobility. Computer would not boot, just a black screen with a blinking cursor. Stop and restart I have to go to the cmos to change the rear of the active HARD drive and the computer will boot into Windows. I've never seen a BIOS itself by itself before changing. Does anyone have any ideas?

Well boys and girls the initial problem of this computer by disabling the HARD drive seems to have been caused by a person changing modem wired to wireless modem without shutting down the computer first or change of wireless modem to the cable modem without shutting down the computer first. So far no one no occurrence of this problem given that the situation described above has been addressed. Thanks for your contribution and your help. I'll tell you that this problem has been resolved.
