HARD drive randomly stops

Then, I had this problem for about two months now, increasingly more often.

My laptop (Pavilion Dv6 - 1350eb) would just freeze or stop for no apparent reason. because it was during the course of the demanding graphically programs (inventor/autocad) I took the laptop overheated.

then it started to happen when my laptop fell asleep - it would break, en no error no reports were given.

last month, that accidents are extremely common, sometimes my laptop does not even (HDD led flashes orange)

and I sometimes get error reports.

disk tried to write in the ROM, irl not equal and other errors
.

After reinstalling my OS, the problem persists, so that's where I think that the HARD drive is broken - analyzes the hard drive with the startup check fails every time.

So now, I bought a new HDD (same brand, same model), and my laptop does exactly the same thing; randomly stops running, no error message, hdd led, flashes orange when restart.

Any ideas what this could be?

Baru,

I'm glad to hear that you're getting it taken care of.

Accumulation of heat and the failure of HARD drive are some of the main reasons for freezing.

The heat can be the thermal paste that need to be replace, the fan who needs to be replaced or maybe even just to clean the system with a can of compressed air and get rid of dust inside the system.

I would like to know how everything goes.

  • External hard drive has stopped working.

I have a 500 GB WD external hard drive book that has stop working. He is no more, but I know that it is always powered because I can see that the lights are still coming when I plug in the power cord inside. No one knows anyway I can get access to the drive so that I can get my data on the disk. It was about 80% full and I was trying to take data out of the car so that I could make cleaner. It was not terribly fragmented, but I need to take some of the data out of the car that's why I was burning there CD so that I could do when he leaves. Now I can't access the drive at all. Does anyone know of a way I can access the drive so I can get my data?

The only thing I've heard to try and get a non-filature spinning disk long enough to get the data off the drive is to put the drive in the freezer, let cool completely, and then quickly remove it and try to make it work.  Sometimes this will release bearings long enough to allow him to run for a few minutes before it warms so that you can get the data.  No guarantees, of course.

  • Why my hard drive randomly not detected by bios? Presario F700

    Hello
I tried to fix a problem I had with my laptop.

    Presario F700
    p/n: KW061UA
No BONE, was trying to install Windows 7

Well, let me start at the beginging.  I've updated the Ram in my laptop from 2 GB to 4 GB.
I continued to find that when I have titlted my laptop that would freeze windows and I will have to reboot. So I replaced the hard drive because I think that the laptop was overheating and damage the hard drive.

I had this problem until I replaced the hard drive. The new drive is a 160 GB Western Digital WD1600BEKT
I also have a cooling the laptop fan to sit on.
So now the question... I put in new hard drive. I put in my USB key to install Windows 7. Everything seems to go big. Then after that it says is necessary to continue the installation of Windows, it turns off but never comes back.
So I go into the BIOS and it does not show the drive there! I restart and watch again and now the hard drive is there... So I try again... and it restarts this time, but it freezes when I put the rest of the information for Windows. It's so random detecing hard drive.
Also, I checked and saw that my BIOS is up to date.
I even read that reinstalling the RAM can solve... but no. I am at a loss and would appreciate any help!

The only other possibility is not good... a faulty motherboard.

  • VMware seems IDE and SCSI hard drives, random order

I have Vista host and the guest of Linux with VMWare 6.5.1.

I have configured the 3 virtual hard disks as (1) physical partition (IDE 0:0), (2) vdisk 1 (SCSI 0:0) and (3) vdisk 2 (SCSI 0:1).

I found vmware arranged the order of the different types of readers randomly.

    Sometimes I IDE 0:0 in/dev/sdc, SCSI 0:0 to/dev/sda, SCSI 0:1 for/dev/sdb.

    Sometimes I IDE 0:0 to/dev/sda, SCSI 0:0 to/dev/sdb, SCSI 0:1 for/dev/sdc.

The order of same type readers, by example, SCSI, is kept uniform - 0:0 is still 0:1, but the order between the different types, IDE and SCSI, is constantly evolving.

I'm exploring to see if there is a worksaround to solve the problem. Otherwise, my virtual disks are mounted correctly.

    Hello

Great to hear that your problem is now fixed, or unless you have a work around in place that addresses the main issues.

Sorry if I wasn't clear on the labels that it had to be done with all drives and partitions in order to make it work.

It was indeed the idea that labelling will make the device name of the file fstab independable.

Your response here however it seems also that Ubuntu now is not exchange the names of devices more either, which surprise me a bit.

anyway... If it works, it works and it's results that count

    Hello husa58,

Equip your Vista OS dvd, see below:

To help resolve this problem, use the tool (SFC.exe) System File Checker to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally made programs, Accessories, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER: sfc/scannow (Yes there is a space after sfc) the command sfc/scannow. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

Hope this helps you. Let us know anyway. Make it a great day!

  • Satellite A210 - 1 4 - possible signs of a hard drive failure

    Hello

I use a Toshiba Satellite A210 - 1 4 and think that the hard drive may be showing signs of failure.

    _The symptoms are: _

    * While the Windows 7 boot frequently stops at 'Starting Windows' screen (before the Windows logo appeared) and all HARD drive activity stops meaning a hard reset is necessary to bring him back.

    * When I unplug the power cord on Windows 7, the computer freezes usually with nothing happens and stop any HARD drive activity, once again a hard reset is required to bring back to life.

What are these early signs of HARD drive failure or is there something else wrong?

    Hey Buddy,

For me it doesn t look like the HARD drive malfunction if Windows 7 stops when starting or freezes when you unplug the AC adapter

  • Satellite L300 - how to reinstall Windows Vista on the replacement HARD drive

    Hello

My HARD drive has stopped working on my PSLB9E. He started making whirring noises and wouldn't start. all tests show it does not. Now I guess I need a replacement for HARD drive and watched a TOSH MK2565GSX or other similar. Problem is I can't find my Windows key anywhere.

It is can get the key to Toshiba/Microsoft giving them all my contact information or do I have to buty a new HARD drive and install a copy newly purchased Windows on? If Yes, then I'll put W7 on I guess.

Thanks in advance for any help I receive!

    SB

    > Problem is that I can't find my Windows key anywhere.
The preinstalled Windows operating system and the image that is placed on the Toshiba recovery disc were already activated and therefore the serial key is not necessary.
If you don t have the recovery disc, so you can buy this drive here:
    http://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx

It s not expensive; 30 euros I guess.

  • Portege M400 does not accept the hard drive built into the boot password

First I assigned a 9 character long password BIOS via the security utility help my new Toshiba Portege M400 (M400-139) with Windows XP Tablet Edition.
He asked me if I also want to use the same password "repeated" to cover the 22 or so (I don't remember) characters long password of HDD, and I said ok.
Then, I removed the BIOS password. But couln can't remove HARD drive password.

I then created a different password which has been long 1 character and removed, but the HARD drive password remained.
When I rebooted the system, he asked me the 'HARD Word built-in disk '.
I tried to enter both the 9 and 1 character long passwords, but it says not 'certified '. What should I do?

Should I write tha password over and over again, until it reaches 22 or more characters?
If this is the problem, then, the number of characters long?
I also think that the keyboard layout mapping can be a problem.

I have never changed the setting page, but maybe that the default value of the plant is different from a windows.
But I used only numbers and letters of international standard.

    I need immediate assistance.
    All my work is interrupted.

I put t know if you have inserted the right HARD drive password or not but the non-certified message said that the inserted password is certainly not correct.
Someone said that the message uncertified might if poster if you laptop was send hibernation instead of the stop mode mode after the password has been set.

But I don t think that this could be relevant in your case.

One question; have you tried to delete the password for HARD drive via the password of Toshiba or in the BIOS utility?

Please check if you can edit/delete in the BIOS because I found the info in the manual M400 you must use the BIOS Setup to modify, delete the disk HARD ot password to set the password master HD!

The manual also provide information if you forget the user Toshiba HARD drive password will not be able to help you and your HARD drive will be rendered completely and permanently unusable! When save the HARD drive password stop or restart the computer. If the computer is not shut down or restarted, the recorded data (password) cannot be correctly included!

So maybe that's a reason why you can not change the HDD password?  :|

  • Satellite P100: HARD drive sometimes fails to start or just not responding

I have a satellite P100 on xp professional service pack 2. Sometimes it fails to start and appears as if the hard drive just stopped responding, does not require defragmentation.

Although it seems not take a long time.
Sometimes it seems to stall at the start to the top but picks up then after a few minutes and fortunately sometimes it starts without a problem.

    Hello David

It's a very strange situation, and for me there is no explanation simply. In my opinion the laptop or HARD drive, the functionality must be tested properly. Here in the forum we can speculate just what is the problem here but mobile startup must be tested with the other HARD drive pre-installed with original recovery image.

It will be interesting to know if the problem disappeared with new HARD drive. So what you can do now? If possible, try to get the second HARD drive and do the only testicles or make a call to the authorized service center and explain the situation. If the laptop is guaranteed to be valid, it will be better to check in service because they can replace free HARD drive (if the HARD disk is defective).

Sorry, but I don't see another solution. Some test with the new HARD drive can help you to understand if this happens because of the HARD drive. I don't think that the BIOS can be responsible for the issue described.

  • 4 1002-tx envy: Envy 4 hard drive failure

    Hello world

I have a HP ENVY 4 1002 - tx Ultrabook (Intel core i5, ssd of 32 GB, Windows 7, out of warranty) which failed the Test of break-in and of another diaognostic HP tests. The result - HDD smart check fails and gives a long fault code. I took a backup and reformatted PC to factory settings, but the problem is still there. I browsed the HP forum and looked at a few responses and guess I have to change my drive hard as the best possible solution (even if it's at work, but the HARD drive may stop working at any time). I would like to know:

    1. what HARD drive (HDD) should I replace with as I have currently Hitachi 500 GB 5400 RPM? Should I go with the same brand, or there are other good options. In addition, this time I would go for 1 TB HARD drive

    2. when I was looking for new HARD drive on the web I found there are different dimensions 1.8 "or 2.5" HDD ", size of the cache, SATA or PATA. That look is this laptop?

    3. Finally, it is easy to change the HARD drive on your own because it is a ultrabook or should I go to a repair shop

    Thank you

    Sahil

The replacement hard drive is actually not so difficult. Remove the back cover and you will have access to all internal components. Even the motherboard is fairly easy to replace. Here is the Manual:

    Repair manuals

See p. 37. The real question you'll encounter is cache 32 gig WSSD accelerator and the fact that the storage is in RAID mode. Reloading of an operating system on the new drive is a little awkward and get the "acceleration" of work is also a bit more difficult than the normal software installation. You have a HP recovery disk?

To answer the other question, you can use any 2.5 inches wide 7 mm thickness SATA HDD to. It is a "superslim" configuration and is readily available, but be careful not to get the type of 9.5 mm thicker. The 32 gig WSSD provides quick access to start and the program, you can get without a SSD drive. I would get a 1 TB drive, like this:
