Have I installed/connected my boot drive (SSD) correctly?

I did a test of UserBenchmark on my PC, and among the results generated foxed me:

Startup disk
The boot partition is on a cache disk or striped RAID array. These configurations, except if successful professionally, can expose the system to increased risk in case of power failure or drive failure. For a normal use of the consumer, we recommend regular SSD for the system drive.

I don't know about RAID and have no idea of what that means. The boot drive is an OCZ Vertex 3 60 GB SSD.

The machine is implemented by an assembler. My operating system is Windows 7, and it is uptodate. Everything works fine. Why this result?

Device Manager shows: location 0 (channel 1, Target 0, Lun 0)

I have two hard drives installed on my machine (channels 0 and 2, respectively).

Readers are not properly connected?

Good for me, accepting the reserved 100 MB system (r) all eyes should not have a drive letter

Reserved system contains boot info

I would not wait long, or install it too much until the SSD is upgraded

The 240SSD on this system has 71 GB free, libraries are located on a different disk, only enterprise software installed

  • Z210 CMT: The boot drive SSD - considerations?

I am setting up a new (refurb) Z210. I want to replace the boot with an SSD drive. I have all of the HP recovery discs.

In reading some of the posts here, I think the most important factor seems to be not to install an SSD is a more SMALLER than the current hard drive Seagate SATA, which is a unit of 250GB.

It seems that most Z210 SSD install uses an Intel 320 or 520 series-drive.

Are there other things I need to know about installing an SSD as a boot drive for Win7/64-bit on this machine?

    Suggestions for specific drive?

I have a pair of 15K cheetahs connected to an LS SAS3041E for storage, so I would only use the SSD for the OS and programs not RAID.

Hi Phil, I also have an Z210 where I installed an SSD of 520 Intel as boot drive which works a treat...

It takes a minimum of 128 GB, if you want to use the HP system recovery discs, see here.

You can always use HP recovery disks and restore a bigger HARD drive, then reduce the volume and make them a backup on an external disk system, then restore your backup to a smaller SSD 120 GB and then finally to increase the volume of the size of the SSD as I here.

Probably the biggest problem for some people is the SSD tool reports on issues related to the AHCI not selected and not to achieve the performance expected, which there are question here and here.

The Intel SSD 520 is a great player, but the 120 GB version is not as fast as the larger versions in this series. The Samsung 840 Pro versions are also designed to be very good, but I liked the longer warranty Intel

A lot of things to read, but these referenced threads should cover most of the bases.

  • How can I configure my xps8500 as my boot drive ssd

    Hello

I just got a xps8500 with 2 TB HD and SSD of 256 win7. Win7 is installed on the 2 TB drive and I would like to clone or re - install everything on the SSD and make my boot as well as all other programs (photoshop/lightroom) drive. Is there an easy way for this to be done? I've cloned a HD in a laptop before and wanted to see what to do for this on my Dell. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have pretty much the same system you have, even refurbished.  I think that there is an 'image' of the saved or cached on the SSD drive, operating system and (perhaps) when the computer starts, it first "looks to" the C drive but sees while there is an image of Windows 7 on SSD and "bounces" to there and starts on the SSD.

    I think so.

After I used my new computer several times and checked 'properties' on the drive (SSD) J it was not 256GB available, but about 236 GB.  Windows 7 is apparently about 20 GB.  After that I used several times for Flight Simulator X, drive J had about 201 GB free.  According to ME, since I had loaded Flight Simulator several times a program has decided to keep also on the SSD.

This technology is quite recent (2011) and there are not yet many computer experts who can explain it in terms we're moderately savvy computer can understand.  This first article says that it only works for as large as 64 GB SSDS, but article is not all references later in 2011, so I guess these technologies Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) and Smart Response Technology (SRT) have been expanded to make use of all of the 256 GB SSD on our computers.

  • I just have to install a new hard drive and Vista on my Toshiba Satellite pro computer laptop I gave up and damage the hard drive.

I can't set up a broadband connection using the cable or wireless such that it does not recognize either. Also, the font is huge and I can't find anywhere to reduce only expand. I also have to install a Toshiba installation disc?

If the installation disc includes the drivers for your motherboard, display and Wi - Fi then yes do you.

You can also find drivers as follows. Go to the Toshiba support website and search for Windows Vista drivers for your specific model number.

    Toshiba support: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp

If there are Windows Vista drivers can download to a folder on your hard drive and install all of them, starting with the card mother/chipset, SATA, USB drivers, Audio, LAN, Etc., and so on.

  • If you have ESXi installed on a USB drive.  Where are the comments operating system installed?

I'm totally new to ESXi.  I googled this answer apparently simple like crazy, but couldn't find a solid answer.  If you install ESXi on a USB key or USB hard drive, where the guest os get installed?  On the same USB device because the ESXi OS is installed?

I have a 40 GB usb hard drive, I want to install it.  I don't want to touch none of the disks in my PC at all, but rather run straight from the USB key (similar to the live linux race).  It will work all fine without any problem? I use it only for the purposes of learning, nothing major at this point.

    Welcome to the community,

Unfortunately, this won't work. Virtual machines (i.e. the VMFS file system) are only supported on storage 'fast', i.e. the SSD/HDD or shared storage LUNs. You cannot create a data store VMFS on a USB device.

  • Can I install a 3rd hard drive (SSD) on my desire to Phoenix 800?

Hi, I just bought a Phoenix 800-089 wanted and I was wondering if I could use for an another SSD expansion Bay?

There are already an SSD installed and do not know if the expansion Bay would allow another?

If so, do I need to purchase a support of editing or something else so he can adapt?

    Thanks for your help.

The HP ENVY Phoenix 800-089 desktop has space for three 3.5 hard drives "and two optical drives 5.25". Using the adapter rails, you can install a 2.5 SSD "in the third-party hard disk or in the second Bay oprtical Bay. A set of 2.5 "to 3.5" adapter may have been provided with your new SSD. If this isn't the case, any computer and/or electronic store will be available adapters.

  • If I do not support until my MBP before installing a new hard drive...

    Very quick question:

If I don't support my hard drive before installing a new hard drive, SSD, the MBP (early 2011) "know" download all the OS X software appropriate and that sort of thing? I guess my question is: is the part of the hard drive of the same hard drive recovery? Or on a separate physical disk.

I don't have a time machine, and it would probably be easier to start from scratch.

    Thank you!

If your computer comes with 10.6.8 or earlier and did not have its updated firmware updated to use Internet Apple system recovery, it is only on the internal drive. Otherwise, separate recovery methods are in the firmware and the drive internal.

    Windows 7?

If you have an older version of windows 7 CD, is probably not compatible UEFI, you must set the inheritance or LaunchCSM to be able to boot from this CD/DVD.

    honestly?

Why don't install you windows 10 place?

UEFI is much more secure and windows 10 is catchy and even more stable than windows 7.

Windows Media Player cannot burn the files. If the burner is busy, wait until the current task is complete. If necessary, check that the burner is connected properly and that you have installed the latest device driver. ???

I just burn a CD with no problem at all.  Using the same type of CD, brand new, I tried to burn another CD and got this error message:

Windows Media Player cannot burn the files. If the burner is busy, wait until the current task is complete. If necessary, check that the burner is connected properly and that you have installed the latest device driver.

I close all programs running, restarted my computer, changed on the devices tab, the speed of burning... everything I know to do and all the things I've read in these forums, no luck... still get the exact same message.  No idea why my CD-writer has decided to stop working for me?
