help install a 120 GB SSD in my Pavilion g7 2269wm
Hello everyone, I recently bought a refurbished nine HP Pavilion g7 2269wm, 64 bit of windows 8. I bought a PNY XLR 8 SSD 120 GB SSD drive to replace the 500 GB hd.
Before exchanging the readers, I created recovery disks, (6 dvd) and tried to use it, at first I thought that it worked, but then it would start loop, it would show the logo window 8, then restart again and again and again. so I tried another cover, this time a factory install using the same discs I did, with the same result.
do I need to buy the hp recovery discs plant or I'm doing something wrong.
IV orderd already drives from hp, they were pretty good markets so thought I can't fool you.
I put the original HD in the machine, so I can use it until I get the cd
OK guys I got it, I ended up installing the drive in a laptop toshiba basis, loading windows 7 on which then windows 8 pro that I had purchased earlier. everything was fine... Thank you

I want to migrate to WIN7 64 bit OEM install a 120 g SSD (o/s disc)
My hard drive to 500GB / 4GB system RAM is fine; no problems. It gets saved on the 1 TB ext drive regularly. I just got a SSD equipped today and want to the o/s through the SSD, and my skills pretty modest pc/tech are stretched 'headscratching' territory, just read around to try to do this without Windows7 on disks. Just by the by, Samsung 830 SSD series came with SSD programs magician & Norton Ghost 15.0 (I know nothing) if they are a help. I'm ok with everything be wiped if necessary, so that makes the process easier. Oh... I have the sticker on the side of the box Win7 product key. So I guess I'm after the best recipe to make my life boot from SSD and install all the progs out there also. See you soon!
instead of doing a clean install of windows, you can use the back up and restore functionality built into windows 7 to create an image of your current configuration sytem, that you can use to transfer everything to the SSD.
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/what-is-a-system-image
http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/4241/how-to-create-a-system-image-in-Windows-7/
After you have created the image of the SSD, you will want to create a system repair disc to start the pc from
Once you have created the image, you can swap the HARD drive out for the SSD and use the system repair disc to start the pc, after which you can install the previously created on the SSD system image.

Dell Latitude D630 with Kingston 120 GB SSD (evil?)
Hello!
I installed a Kingston 120 GB SSD in my Dell Latitude D630, as well as the
Laptop computer becomes faster. Now, I installed HD Sentinel and there is
shown: performance: 80% health: 100%. It's a whole new SSD. And there is a text:
The solid-state drive status is PERFECT. Problematic or weak sectors have not been found.
The TRIM of the SSD feature is supported but disabled. It is recommended to upgrade the operating system, the drive controller or its driver to improve performance.
Health is determined by the specific SSD S.M.A.R.T. attribute (s): #231 SSD life leftI have Windows 7 Pro with all the updates that are 32-bit. I don't know what to do, can you help me?
Ah, I have the controller in AHCI mode. (Default is ATA)
I have the drivers from: [View:dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/.../:550:0] downloaded, but there was no AHCI/SATA driver, so I installed an older one.
Thanks a lot for your help!
Kind regards

Sorry, but now is all OK!
I removed Vista driver Matrix Storage old and now is 100/100 in HD Sentinel)))

Why is Windows 7 x 64 read only 111 GB of a 120 GB ssd?
Just finished installing Windows 7 x 64 on a new Intel SSD 120 GB 320series and I only see 111 GB on my computer. Before you install the OS, I changed the settings of the IDE BIOS to AHCI and that's the only change I made. My system features, ASRock Extreme4, 8 GB GSkill 1600, i5 2500 and 120 GB SSD. Any help is very appreciated. Thank you.
This is the standard behavior. Disk manufacturers size their 1000 KB in Mo drives, while the actual size is 1 024 KB in MB...

How can I enable AHCI in dv7 6199us? And install windows on a SSD?
Hello!
I got help.
How can I enable AHCI in dv7 6199us? And install windows on a SSD?
Intel based computers, like yours, are usually set to "RAID", which is a superset of "AHCI". Basically, if the BIOS won't let you choose between "IDE mode", "AHCI" and "RAID", leaving in the RAID led to you everything done "AHCI". In this case there is no need to activate the AHCI, as RAID will support an SSD anyway.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Install Windows 7 on SSD and programs on the HARD drive?
Original title: conner bottomley.
Hello
I was wondering if you could help me! I recently built my own PC, it has 2 drives (1 SSD and 1 HDD) and I want to have windows 7 (64 bit) installed on the smaller SSD and all other files and programs on the larger HARD drive could you give me some instructions on how to do it? I've been strugling for awhile now!
I am completely new to this so if you can keep it nice and simple, would be great!
Thanks for your help :)
Conner
Have your program files on the HARD drive defeated the purpose of having an SSD in the first place. The goal is to start the operating system and load your programs faster.
Then, install the operating system and programs on the SSD and store your personal files (Documents, music, photos, videos etc.) on the HARD disk.
Demarrer start from the Windows 7 DVD, and then select the SSD drive during installation
For information about how to modify your BIOS options to boot from the DVD drive, see the following tutorial:
http://notebooks.com/2011/05/05/How-to-load-BIOS-and-change-boot-configuration/
Click Custom install Windows only (Advanced)
Select the SSD drive, and then click Next.
Once Windows 7 is installed, you can redirect personal folders on the HARD drive to store your files.

Hi guys
I just installed a new Samsung 850 EV0 SSD in my iMac in early 2009 and now I'm confused on what I should do next.
I have a time Machine backup that I would use it but I don't know how to start the Setup program.
I tried to hit command-R, but it did nothing. Instead, I got the grey screen with a flashing folder.
I have the Snow Leopard installation DVD, but I prefer to begin by the latest version of OS X which I believe is El Capitan.
I'm not too sure if I can use my Time Machine backup that was on an older version of OS X Snow Leopard should install a new version of OS X of El Capitan.
Can someone spend on certain instructions or practical information, so I can start again?
Thanks in advance.
Start with the Snow Leopard DVD and partition and format the SSD drive. Partition GUID, format Mac OS Extended journaled scheme. Install OS X and restore from your time using Setup Assistant Machine. Run software update to get to 10.6.8 and access the Mac App Store, where you can evolve to El Capitan.
It is essential, you left some needed information. In my setup, I replaced the optical drive with an SSD and hard drive has left in place for storage. I have my operating system and the Applications on the SSD and my folder on the drive hard because I only installed a 250 GB SSD.

Hello
The problem is that you will not find any official information about limiting size of HARD drive on Toshiba laptops.
This news don t exist. I didn t find on Toshiba page.I found this thread in the forum Toshiba;
http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=71877𑣅A user suggested that the 30 GB, 40 GB, 60 or 80 GB HARD drive could be compatible.
The other user in this thread has already use a 160 GB HARD drive in the Satellite A20-S103
http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=89990Maybe if you're a lucky man and 120 GB HARD drive will work.

Y580: OS install on new mSATA SSD disk HARD + mSATA SSD config
Hi guys,.
I was wondering if anyone has done this? I have the 1 TB HDD + 32 GB mSATA config, but I want to install a new mSATA SSD possibly of 128 or 256 for my operating system and applications. I heard there was a problem with the removal of partitions due to Lenovo Rapid Storage. Has anyone successfully circumvented this?
I guess that separate readers via these instructions http://78.9.150.202/pub/RapidDrive.pdf
then saving them, putting in the mSATA SSD again and do a clean install should work. -
