  Just look at the specifications of design on this unit - only 7mm thick (height z) readers will fit in this unit. After all, it's a thin Sleekbook!

  7mm hard drives and SSD is easily available, and virtually all 7mm 2.5 drives "will work.

  As you can see on the product, it has two SATA III ports.

  I purc hased and installed 16 GB of RAM in both slots of memory available. Only 8 GB is visible (updated 4 GB). The HP Envy Sleekbook Maintenance and Service Guide HP Envy TouchSmart c03599931.pdf says on page 2 that the system supports 16 GB of RAM. When I go into the BIOS Setup, I can not change the amount of memory, which only shows 8 GB. How can I see all the 16GB?

  BIOS options are not editable, for those who do not help. I did remove the lower cover, reinstall the DIMM modules, and that seems to have solved the problem. Thank you!

  I've only had my HP Envy for less a month and sound and audio for headphones randomly stopped working. It was working fine while I was playing some videos on youtube and then I closed the laptop when I was. I went later to start a research paper when I realized that the sound icon was cut. I went to turn off the mute and the computer begins to sound problems troubleshooting. Now I can not all sounds to play from iTunes, Pandora or YouTube. Headsets do not work or the other. Can someone help me solve this problem? Its still under warranty, so I'll probably end up having to take it back to Best Buy.

  You can build your media recovery on a 32 Gb USB Flash Drive - the procedure for doing this is described in the next HP document.

  Create recovery media - Windows 8.

  If you need to reinstall Windows 8, you can do it from the USB of recovery you are created - more details in this regard can be found here.

  Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome! It is an excellent site to find answers and ask questions. I read your post on the Forums of HP Support. I understand that you are having problems with the sound on your helmet, but your speakers work.

  I looked into the problem for you and I don't have a document for you to try for troubleshooting, but I also have a few questions to ask you.

  1 have you tried another pair of headphones?

  2. you hear any distortion of the other head phone?

  3 have you tried to use the HP Support Assistant to update all of your drivers?

  Machine has 8.1 then updated to 10. Windows 10 has been altered somehow a few weeks after the update. It took Microsoft store and they did a routine repair of Windows 10, which re-installed 10. At this point sound was gone.

  Recently, I had the same problem. Technical support had me to download the drivers for Windows 8.1 still and my sound returned. The explanation is that not all drivers have been created for Windows 10 again.

  If your laptop comes with the W8, the key in the BIOS should work with this ISO file.

  If your laptop comes with W8.1, the key in the BIOS will NOT work with this ISO file.

  While on the website connection is deleted without warning and after a few minutes reconnects to the server used previously. The computer is new with window 8. Try to find out what causes gout and prevent it from happening.

  I had the same problem with mine.  I'm still not sure I fixed it completely, but I found that there are two network cards installed and disabling one of them seems to help.  I found it under device manager.  I have disabled the microsoft network card.  I hope this helps.  Good luck!

  I have problems connecting to networks wireless on my HP ENVY 14 Sleekbook (14K074ca) TS. Networks are available, as I am able to connect via my phone and other PCs.

  I tried the network troubleshooting and it failed. I've updated the network wifi drivers. I turned the button wireless on and outside. Nothing works.

  I noticed this change after a recent update of windows 10.

  Hi, I have a problem, try to disable the touch screen of the Envy Touchsmart Ultrabook 4 function in Windows 8... I was looking for an answer on how to do it, but I did not find anything. I tried the method of the control panel > hardware and sound > pen and touch and then disable the option "use your finger as input device", but this option is not there for me!   I have another type of TouchSmart, but this may work for you:

  1. Press Windows + X logo.
  2. Select Device Manager from the list.
  3. Click on the small arrow next to Interface devices to expand the list.
  4. Click the touchscreen driver (in my case, Voltron NextWindow touch screen).
  5. Right click and select disable from the list.
  6. Click Yes in the dialog box that asks you if you are sure you want to disable the touch screen driver.

  When you want your touchscreen to work again, follow the above procedure, EXCEPT when right-clicking on the touch screen driver, select enable.
