  Just look at the specifications of design on this unit - only 7mm thick (height z) readers will fit in this unit. After all, it's a thin Sleekbook!

  7mm hard drives and SSD is easily available, and virtually all 7mm 2.5 drives "will work.

  I purc hased and installed 16 GB of RAM in both slots of memory available. Only 8 GB is visible (updated 4 GB). The HP Envy Sleekbook Maintenance and Service Guide HP Envy TouchSmart c03599931.pdf says on page 2 that the system supports 16 GB of RAM. When I go into the BIOS Setup, I can not change the amount of memory, which only shows 8 GB. How can I see all the 16GB?

  BIOS options are not editable, for those who do not help. I did remove the lower cover, reinstall the DIMM modules, and that seems to have solved the problem. Thank you!

My HP EliteBook 8730w is SATA-II and I use an Intel SSD 520, which is capable of SATA III, someone knows it if I can wipe my SSD, then paste it into the new laptop and have it clocked at SATA-III? Is it that simple? Note also that I have the system of operating full W7, so no problem on this end.

  Hello, I would like to upgrade my laptop with a Crucial SSD BX200 hard disk that uses the SATA III interface. Can I use HDD connected (also SATA III) as capacity of extra strorage using EVOLVEO DF127 instead of the CD player? If so, SATA III HARD disc will be compatible with SATA CD drive interface?

  Do not try to put a SSD in an optical interface. It will slow down and will not be bootable. You can put the SSD into the hard drive slot and put the HARD drive in the optical Bay. The HARD drive will be slowed down a bit but still good for storage. It is the way to do it. Do not worry about SATA-II vs SATA-III the SSDS works still fine.

  I bought this item to the United Kingdom in July 2013, so I'm still under warranty.

  Very frustrating because what I really do is keep my drivers up to date so I can use my machine to what I need to use it for and keep it healthy and maintained.  I thought really what one simple question, i.e. connect HP official website, download the drivers, install them and continue my life.

  I have added, when I download the other software updates of the pre installed HP support assistant, it downloads things well but does not install them.  However my main concern in this post in particular is the drivers for my graphics card and the modem etc.  I tried this new temporarily disable my firewall for my safety see if it's the reason, but no, she didn't always.

  Can someone help me find drivers for my computer officially HP (not a questionable site) so I can keep my computer updated and heathy please.

  Just select the operating system to drop down and you have the drivers for your PC.

  Alternatively, you can simply install (if not already installed) HP Support Assistant - which will be directly check for the software and drivers available and will allow you to install without having to open Web pages for your driver needs.

  I've only had my HP Envy for less a month and sound and audio for headphones randomly stopped working. It was working fine while I was playing some videos on youtube and then I closed the laptop when I was. I went later to start a research paper when I realized that the sound icon was cut. I went to turn off the mute and the computer begins to sound problems troubleshooting. Now I can not all sounds to play from iTunes, Pandora or YouTube. Headsets do not work or the other. Can someone help me solve this problem? Its still under warranty, so I'll probably end up having to take it back to Best Buy.

  You can build your media recovery on a 32 Gb USB Flash Drive - the procedure for doing this is described in the next HP document.

  Create recovery media - Windows 8.

  If you need to reinstall Windows 8, you can do it from the USB of recovery you are created - more details in this regard can be found here.

  Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome! It is an excellent site to find answers and ask questions. I read your post on the Forums of HP Support. I understand that you are having problems with the sound on your helmet, but your speakers work.

  I looked into the problem for you and I don't have a document for you to try for troubleshooting, but I also have a few questions to ask you.

  1 have you tried another pair of headphones?

  2. you hear any distortion of the other head phone?

  3 have you tried to use the HP Support Assistant to update all of your drivers?

  Machine has 8.1 then updated to 10. Windows 10 has been altered somehow a few weeks after the update. It took Microsoft store and they did a routine repair of Windows 10, which re-installed 10. At this point sound was gone.

  Recently, I had the same problem. Technical support had me to download the drivers for Windows 8.1 still and my sound returned. The explanation is that not all drivers have been created for Windows 10 again.

  I have a plan to change my old hard drive with the new SATA III SSD.

  I searched Toshiba homepage on spec if it supports SATA III, but it is very difficult to find this kind of information. If I understand correctly, we must support SATA III for the full implementation of the DSS.

  The laptop is Toshiba Satellite l850-117, Sandy Bridge (32nm Technology), by Googling it I found a few answers that if I have a Sandy Bridge, I also have SATA III support.

  From the BIOS I can only change 'best performance' or 'better life' for HDD/SDD, nothing on the SATA versions.

  Why you n t install some diagnostic tools material like Everest Home Edition or another tool like SENECA Sisoft.
  The two would be able to provide all the details and all information about the properties of material and pieces of equipment.

  The L850 series is equipped with different material parts, but usually the ODD controller and the HARD drive is connected to the chipset (Port of Cougar / Panther point) and the chipset is connected to the processor (Sandy Bridge / Ivy Bridge)

  However, in my view and from my own experience, the SATA ODD interface would support 150Mbyte/s max. I don't know about the HARD m drive but I guess it could be 300Mbyte/s (SATA II)

  But please share the results provided by one of the tools mentioned.

  Yes, you might be right; SATA III isn't taken care of.
  I had installed a compatible drive SSD SATA III but I could get max / 3 Gb/s, which means SATA II

  However, the SATA is backward compatible, so you should be able to use a SATA III HARD disk but with limited performance.
