Help NAS

I'm looking for a place to stop peripheral storage to store a few models and backups in case of disaster.  Can the device below the work and is supported by Vmware?  I tried to find in the list, but could not.

NETGEAR ReadyNAS 2100 4 to, 1U rack storage network w / Dual Gigabit Ethernet (http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=1762397)

NAS device must support NFS v3 over TCP and the root user (no_root_squash).

In HCL, there are only a few devices listed.

But there are several devices 'low cost' that might work.

For example: Iomega StorCenter ix2 Network Storage

  • Move to NAS - HELP

I have a library with hundreds of playlists and 13 000 songs. Currently, the itunes library folder is in a custom location. The root folder with all the mp3 files is also in a different folder on another drive. I don't want to consolidate my library and that itunes screw up my folder structure. I would like to move my itunes on my nas drive folder in "NAS/file A" and the root folder of mp3 for "NAS/file B".

How do I step by step without breaking the links to each mp3? I've already started copying the files on the NAS server and maintaining installation current, just in case.

What I say to me I can:

    (1) export a copy of all the selections to choose file > library > export library at MyMasterLibrary.xml now

    (2) close itunes

    (3) to rename the current itunes and mp3 of root folders to prevent itunes to 'see' the current files

    (3) launch itunes and create a new library

    (4) location change itunes media folder custom Edit > Preferences > advanced > itunes media folder location and change to "NAS/file B".

    (5) import the MyMasterLibrary.xml under file > library > import Playlist

This should rescan the mp3 files and restore playlists from what I understand.

    Any advice?

See make a library of portable split. In principle, you should be able to copy files from your library in the folder parent of this operation all the mp3s, then move the library to a new location, keeping any unchanged internal folder structure. My recommendation would be that you change folders to iTunes containing iTunes Media using the method described as this makes linking the library or a clone of it to any other computer easier.

Step 5. does not work unless you change the paths in the XML file. Reconstruction of the library from a modified version of the XML file will lose all original date added information. A new library will also be seen as news that the iPod is concerned may cause a useless resynchronization of all media. If you don't like my first suggestion, then it may be preferable to use a script (see here) to move the media a new path and to repair broken links at the same time. If all that is required is a search and replace operation in the existing location, it should be easy enough for me to tweak ConsolidateByMoving to that effect.

  • Need help to activate the NAS for WRT610N

I got this router a long time.  I now just trying to attach a hard drive to it.  I got it works and can see the drive in Windows Explorer, but when I click to open and view the files it asks for a password.  At first, that it seemed to pick up my router signon info.  Tried that.  No luck.  Then another box pops up asking my password of PC.  I don't have a password on my computer, so I did not enter a.  He did not accept that no more.

Anyone know how I can access it?  Is there a tutorial step by step on the activation of SIN?  The user manual does not work for me.

Hi, SMaye. This is the prompt for you to access the shared drive. If you have forgotten the password for shared disk (admin), you don't see it, but you can change it via the interface of the router page. It's under storage > Administration > user management. Click on change and enter the new password twice. Click on change user and restart the router after. Tell me if it works.

  • NAS work with FCPX and external drives?

I use a Mac Pro 2013, 3.7 Ghz Quad Core, 16 mHz Ram with 512 GB of internal storage, AMD over-pants D500. My employer also purchased a Synology DS415 + as my storage with 12 TB of HARD drive space.

Now, I try to install FCPX and Motion 5 as my zero external because the machine has only 512 GB internal. But the problems lies in that the Synology's NAS still FCPX he sees not as my drive to zero. The NAS is connected to the network and I can access it via the NAS software but it does not appear on my desktop as an external drive even if I directly connected via USB 3.0 (A - A). I read on the website that if I connect it to the Mac via USB 3.0, it will appear as an external drive on my desk, but that does not happen. USB port on both units are USB - A (male?)

And so my question: someone has their 2013 Pro Mac connected to a NAS for mounting on FCPX? And how do I set up mine to do what I hope? I searched the web HI & lo, nothing helped, and I have a feeling that I won't like the answer.

Thank you in advance. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

External drives no longer appear on the default desktop.

Finder > Preferences, select the option to display on the desktop under the general tab.

I do not know if that will solve your problem in FCP X, but it could explain why he is not on the desktop.

I think that FCPX will be unhappy if you try to use a disk on the network, he really needs a fast connection, USB3 should work, but I think that ethernet can be slow because it is a shared environment.

Do a check with some malware malware, analysis of programs on the Windows computer.

You need to scan with all programs, because each program detects a different malicious program.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before scanning.

Alternatively, you can write a check for an infection rootkit TDSSKiller.

  • IPhoto, Synology, NAS

    Hello

I have a mac book pro, which runs from storage, mainly due to volume of the iPhoto library. I also have a synology NAS.

What are my alternatives to move my iPhoto library to the NAS without losing the access from my other devices (i.e. with the help of my iPhone or iPad that are also related to the same iPhoto library).

In other words, I would create my own iCloud, using my SIN.

    Kind regards

I actually use the Photo, if it makes a change!

  • Overview of slow disk file external nas

I've just converted our office of a XP OS to Apple running El Cap and have installed a new drive NAS netgear ethernet network.

We currently live preview of file very slow speeds. Some large directories sit at 15 seconds to display the files. I chose to use the SMB player as it seems slightly faster, but still very slow compared to XP.

I installed Parallels with xp on my Mac and the files appeared without delay.

Any help or suggestion would be welcome.

  • 40 D 345 NAS drive connection

I recently brought a 40 DB 345 D tv and was really please when I installed it to find that it automatically connected to my NAS drive as soon as I have the tv connected to my wireless network.

Everything was going fine until the other day when I connected a USB flash drive to the tv to watch a movie.

Now despite the removal of the USB drive to the TV does see the NAS drive?
When I select the media icon, the screen displays "no device connected" or something similar.
I have reset the reinstalked tv tv channels etc. I removed the WiFi network and reconnected.

Anyone else had a problem similar or got any ideas how to fix?

It worked the first day of the box and the only thing I can think of to stop the wss work, inserting a USB device, but why woukd TV not go back to its original configuration after the USB has been removed?

Any help greatly received as the streaming media from the NAS is a real asset.
Is there a reset button anywhere on the tv completely reset to factory settings?

The TV must be configured as Media Renderer
This feature allows reading/sharing of files stored in a compatible MEDIA smartphone, tablet pc or laptop or NAS on the TV. Install software on your device and read the instructions in the Software Division for more information.
In the settings of the TV put MEDIA Renderer option highlighted and press left or right to enable or disable this feature.

  • Help!  Large iTunes library split into two locations, how to fix?

Long ago, I told iTunes to store its iTunes Media on a NAS file and I copied the iTunes folder all my D: to the NAS unit.  I also said iTunes to keep organized records and copy files of music added to the NAS.

I just found out by examining the XML file that iTunes thinks about half of my music files (~ 7,000 of them) are located on the D: drive and other ~ 7 000 are there where I want it all, on the NAS.  Number of files on the NAS which I however contained artist/album music files are empty; the files appear to have been erased and are still on the D: drive where the XML points to them.  Management of iTunes files (XML. ITL, etc..) iTunes is now current are also on the D: drive... those on the NAS are not kept up to date.

I thought my massive library - countless hours to rip my CD - safe on the multi-plate RAID NAS.  Goes, if I lose my D: drive (which I was backup is no longer) I lose half of my library and all of my iTunes administrative folders.  Ouch!

How can I get safely iTunes exclusively use the SIN for all the data files and of the administration?

If I re - copy data from D: to the NAS and edit the XML file to point to the NAS for all files, iTunes will not even watch D: for the management of the library?  How can I do forget d everything?

Thanks in advance for any help.

By modifying the file XML will not help at all - iTunes only writes to this file, the bed ever.  Assuming that all of your media plays correctly then you should be able to consolidate your library (file > library > organize library > consolidate files).  This will copy all the multimedia files that are not in the iTunes media folder location specified in Edit > Preferences > advanced to this location.  Note, however, that many reports suggest that iTunes + SIN is not an ideal combination; You can be better to use a standard external drive for your library and use the NAS device for backups.  You can also watch the advice to user turingtest2 on do a split cell library for more details on the optimization of available to your library.

  • Toshiba 46YL875: no pictures and videos streaming from NAS

I have a problem with the media player on my TV and hope you can help.
I have a 46YL875. Now, I have installed a Synology NAS DS213j. I have installed the DLNA media server.
The TV recognizes it. Also the MP3 are played fine.

But no photos (jpg) or videos (mp4) are displayed.
If I get the same files on a USB key, they are played without a problem.

Any hint how to solve? No patch or update FW, that could help?

    Hello

There is a difference of playing files on USB or streaming files using NAS.
I recommend the page 106 in the user manual:
    http://www.Toshiba-OM.NET/LCD/PDF/English/YL875-424655-English.PDF

Using NAS you should check the details and notes for the DMS (digital media server)

For example: video files with the file extension mp4 and M4V are supported using video/audio codec H.264 (MPEG-4 AVC).

  • NAS disk and iTunes problems

I am now the proud owner of a brand new iMac (retina 5K, 27 inches, end of 2015) and throws to transfer all my music, movies and videos from my old PC (XP) to the iMac. My library on the PC is just under 2 TB and, being the nerd that I am, all of the associated good album and film art. Having had a few attempts of unsucsessfull trying to all transfer to the SIN of the PC to see none of the cover of the album is looming, I wonder now if someone here has had the same experience as me and has a solution. Any help gratefully received. Thank you.

Album artwork is stored with other library files in the iTunes folder, which is a complete library. If you have only media on the outside, then you have only media.

Moving a library: quick response if you use preferences by default iTunes settings: copy the folder integer iTunes (and to ensure that all of its subfolders and files) intact at the other disk, hold down the option/ALT key to start iTunes and on request to select a library select iTunes Library.itl file in the copied folder.
