  You are missing a lot of critical security updates (especially if the updates published on 10 Nov 09 never installed).

  You don't want to switch to Win7 with the computer in its current state (nor would you be able to do, I think).

  Vista SP1 or SP2 installed?

  What application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription?  What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?

  A (another) Norton or McAfee application has already been installed on this machine (for example, a free trial version which is preinstalled when you bought it)?

  I need help please!  Spent an entire day trying to figure this even ONCE!  When I try to change my windows firewall settings I get error code 0 x 80070424.  I worked at it so long, I forgot when I get the error 0x6D9 code.  But here is my BIGGEST problem, my computer won't let me do DOWNLOADS at all.  I even checked to make sure that the downloads are enabled in my internet settings.

Windows suggested going to a program called "Fixit", but when I click on it, another window pops up saying that windows cannot connect to this site. It appears after trying the SFC, there are a few problems with the registry that cannot be resolved automatically. I tried the automatic Microsoft difficulty he 50202 but that does not solve it.   Well restoring factory would correct any problems if they are strictly related to software.

  If you do a normal upgrade to Windows 7 and the problems you are currently experiencing are the question within the registry, then it is likely that they could remain after the upgrade.  Now, if you perform a Custom Installation upgrade press she will move to your current Windows directory to a new folder (Windows.old) and then it will install properly.  Of course, with this option, you will need to reinstall your applications.
