"Hide" updates not wanted, that is, "language packs"... _

I am indifferent in the updates of the language pack.

Under XP, I could "hide".  I am new to Windows 7, so am not sure how do.  I'm tired of seeing these updates when I'm looking for the most important.  What Miss me?

  • Confirm that the language packs are useless for English

My Linux distro came with Firefox ESR and pre-installed language packs (also Thunderbird and language packs). There are two entrances of package in the software for each of these applications Manager: the main program and the language packs, which indicates that all the languages in the language packs are installed/removed as a single unit. The online description indicates the language packs are used for 'other languages '. It does not say that the 'standard' language exists or if all languages require some language pack. I use English. Before you uninstall the language packs for both products, I want to confirm that they are not necessary for English. Thank you.

    Thank you.

Regarding the update, makes the subject of another post. I have it receive the notice of the update, but the update process does not (the audit online says that my version of 24.4 is the most recent and does not perform an automatic update.) If I click on the update notice, "connecting" message comes on to always without completing the connection to the update server. I understand that there is a way to install it manually, but it involves too many steps I'm not familiar with.

  • I don't have the language packs in my optional updates from the Windows Update - how to install a language pack?

My hard drive crashed.  It was replaced and the outside company installed the OS for me.  However, I'm in a French country and they had no English operating system share so installed the french operating system without telling me.   I left it as it is that I had to install my other apps in a hurry.  Now, I want to change the language of the OS in English without having to reinstall the operating system.  The MS help Web site gives this page with instructions: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/install-languages-with-windows-update, but I don't get the language packs when I click on "View available updates".  How can I install the English language pack if she does not?

[1] relative to the first, third and fourth link: already done - the regional formats and input languages to the keyboard/are not the problem

[2] re second link: that's where I started.  If you follow the links on this page, you get finally to the page I linked in my original post, above.  It says select a languge in the update of Windows

If the language you want does NOT have a downloadlink on http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/languages, what you did (for example, adding input interface & English language keyboard) is ALL you can do with a Vista Home Premium French-language version.

If you want any display in English, you need to install the English Language Pack , which, as you know, is only available for Vista Ultimate computers.

Yes, it's unnecessarily confusing and convoluted but WYSIWYG, I'm afraid. You have that would be to buy an Anytime Upgrade from Vista Ultimate, (b) a Win7 Home Premium update (and then an Anytime Upgrade to Win7 Ultimate) or (c) a full-detail of a language version English version of any version of Win7... which will be probably much more expensive than buying a brand new computer with a version of English language of Win7 preinstalled (and good luck finding that in a French speaking country).

Wish I had better news for you.

  • 48 new important updates after you apply the language pack

Original title: Windows 8 updates after you have applied the language pack

    Hi all

I bought the laptop with the English version of Windows 8 in 2013 and a few days ago decided to change the default language to Spanish.

Language Pack has been successfully installed. But when I checked for Windows 8 updates available (I subscribe) I have seen that it is necessary to install 48 new important updates.

Regularly, I installed all necessary updates. And now, after you apply the language pack, I have to repeat all the facilities of updates once more to be up-to-date and continue with Spanish? Or I missed something during the installation of the language pack?

    Thanks much for the advice.

    Kind regards

    Sergei Sumskoy

    Hi Sergey,

We will first check if the 48 new important updates are already installed on the computer or not.

To view your history of update

    1. Open Windows Update by sliding into the right edge of the screen and click on settings.
    2. Click change PC settings, and click then on update and recovery.
    3. Click view update history.

    Method 1:
If the important updates are already installed on the computer, you can install all important updates available.

    Method 2:
If all updates are already installed on the computer, you can reset the Windows Update components and check if there are new updates available.
How to reset the Windows Update components?

    Hi CJC62,

    Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forum.

What version of the operating system is installed on your computer?

Assuming that it's Windows XP, here is some information on the Internet Explorer that comes with Service Pack 3 (SP3). SP3 for XP will continue to ship with Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) and it contains a roll-up updates of security for IE6. If you still use Internet Explorer 6, then XP SP3 will be offered to you via Windows Update as a high priority update. You can safely install XP SP3 and have an updated release of IE6 with all your personal preferences, such as homepages and Favorites, still intact.

  • On family Windows Vista premium 64-bit, how to hide updates from windows that I don't have?

There are a few updates for Microsoft Office which do not install and give me an error code, but I have Microsoft Office on my computer.  There was a trial version 30 days when I bought my laptop, but I have not bought it.  I really don't want or need these updates.  What is the procedure for 'hide' these updates, or to opt out of these updates?

    Hi LadyJMP,

Open the updates of windows (via Control Panel). In the list of updates to install right click on this update. In the menu that appears, select 'Hide' User Account Control will appear and you will need to click OK. The update then will be hidden and will not appear in the list the next time put up-to-date Windows.

  • The Language Pack update

I need to change the language of my windows 7 from Spanish to English. When I go on the microsoft site, the only thing I see and which can be useful is set of instructions for updating a langiage pack. But my problem is, my Windows Update doesn't have the LANGUAGE PACK UPDATES! How to make updates to the language pack?

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/972813

Windows 7 language packs are available for computers that are running Windows 7 ultimate or Windows 7 Enterprise

Windows 7 language packs can be installed only from the section optional updates in Windows Update. However, these language packs are not available on the Server Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) or through the Microsoft Download Center.

To download and install a language pack in Windows 7, follow these steps:

    1. Start Microsoft Update. To do this, click Start , type Microsoft Update in the Search box, and then click Microsoft Update in the programs list.
    2. Click on the links to optional update for language packs.
    3. In the category Modules language Windows 7 , select the desired language pack.

Note If you install additional language modules, system performance and disk space are affected. In particular, system performance and disk space are affected during maintenance operations, such as Service Pack installations. Therefore, we recommend that only add you a language pack to your computer if you use the language pack.

    4. Click OK, and then click install updates to start the download and installation process.

  • Windows language pack is not working/uninstall

I downloaded the Arabic language pack. I tried several times to install, but once the installation is complete, it says "failed".

I thought that the problem may be because the pack didn't upload correctly, so I removed all the files under C:\Windows\SoftwareDistributions\Download. After I did it, I found that the language pack is installed. When installing as the primary language, it only displays the layout from right to left, but however, most of the text is English.

Try to uninstall does not show anything. I tried to uninstall several times without result.

I have now, I wonder if I can uninstall it so I can download it again to try to install it again. Windows thinks it is installed properly, while this is not. Any solution other than system restore, because I installed many programs and do not restore all these.

    Thank you.
