Horizon view auto connect to a pool

Hello. I'm under view 5.3.2. I have users who have many pools (higher education). The evaluation criteria are physical work stations with an installed display client. Anyway is that when a user who is in the room and starts the client to view the physical office, (after their passage of authentication) will automatically be connected to a pool for this specific room. (e.g. room = Pool A).

Remember that, by design, all students are entitled to all the pools. I can not change this requirement. With earlier versions of the client view I could have passed the customer settings. Can't do more with customer view 5.3.2. It seems that perhaps this can be accomplished through view GPO settings?

Thank you

Here is a link to the new customer documentation PDF.  Inside, it details the same switches...

https://www.VMware.com/PDF/horizon-view/horizon-client-Windows-document.PDF

All you need to do is change the properties of the shortcut and add the switch at the end of the target.  If your target should look like this...

"C:\Program VMware Horizon view Client\vmware - view.exe"-desktopName "Nom_du_pool goes here.

The quotes around the name of pool are required if there are spaces in the name of your pool.

Add other switches if necessary.

If I use the plug-in Horizon View Agent Direct-connection is there still a way to get the virtual machine for auto & with force logoff the current user after X minutes if the (in my case), lightweight client disconnects abruptly (off)?

It is probably a virtual machine that is not handled by a server view connection? You should create/change the following registry setting power (this would be automatically updated if you were using a CS):

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware \VMware VDM\Node Manager\DisconnectLimitMinutes, Inc.

The value-1 means immediately, a value of 0 means never. Positive values are the number of minutes to wait after the disconnection occurs.

  • Cannot connect to Horizon view Desktop with the persistent drive user's profile

I install a new pool of funds to Horizon 6. This will serve to staff supervisor who need their same desktop computers every time that they connect. The pool is set for the linked clones, but with records of enduring for user profiles. I put the user profile to be stored on a disk, persisting in the wizard of the Horizon. The persistent drive is on users 'Z' drive.

When I try to log in with one of the title, accounts, windows gives me this error:

  • Connect to a pool from the local server view automatically

My installation has 3 physical locations.  I have a login server to display in each location.  Each connection to the server has a pool of offices available to users.

I have users who travel between the three communities.  I want to force the client to use only the PCOIP Protocol (using the shortcut command line options).  The problem is that my WAN pipes between locations is small.  I want to make sure that users only connect to their local swimming POOL.  Since the server connections 3 seen talking to each other and I entitle users for all 3 pools when the user logs on, they will see all three pools.

The only way I can think to do is 3 installation view separate connection servers and name the same pool in each city.  I lose a redundancy when I do this is not my first choice.

Did someone else come up with a creative solution to this problem?

Before this version of VMware, I suggested some connection rules you could apply on a pool to ensure that users weren't trying a connection of some IP subnets.

In general, you should not have replica connection servers connected via WAN links. Our planning and architecture guide is clear about this. 41 page here http://www.vmware.com/pdf/view-46-architecture-planning.pdf

In your case, if you want to restrict the pool of users who can access depending on their location, you can use "restricted rights" with labels to do this. On each server connection, you can specify tags such as "site a". "site b" and "site c". When it comes to allowing users to pools you can restrict the 'site a' pools on the connection with the tag 'site a' server so that when a user is using the 'site a' server Conection they only get access to the pools with the 'site a' tag association. You can read more about it here http://www.vmware.com/pdf/view-46-administration.pdf (page 116) featured.

Restricted, or rights to the tag based normally allows to limit some pools funds for local access only and deny access for remote users, but the feature is too flexible in support of other use cases.

Let us know if this gives you what you need.

    Select this option.

  • PCoIP zero client does not display an Horizon view Client user of the window for one (and only one)

This happens on all terminals, I tried. Other users, even if you connect to the same terminal, are given the option to select a virtual PC, even if they have the choice of a!

I have checked the setting for the PC virtual in the Teradici PCoIP Management Console and also the settings of the user under the Horizon view VMware administrator but cannot find where my configurations user and desktop are different from those that work "correctly".

Is someone able to propose what I'm looking for?

    TIA

    Thanks, Stu, for your input.

I arrived on the solution after you follow through with your suggestion above. I used the client on a Windows PC, then after that record on I clicked on 'Options' in the bar of VMwareView Client session and erased the text is 'auto connect to this office. • Horizon view license constraints

    Hello

I was invited to ask a question about the limitations of the license mode by our office team and what they are allowed to run. Currently we have the following licenses:

    vCenter Server

vCenter Server Standard 6 for Horizon

    See connection to the server

    Horizon 6 Standard view

    ESXi hosts

    vSphere 6 for desktop PC

They run an environment seen horizon with desktops VDI running Windows 7 on a cluster of blades ESXi.

They would like to add a new cluster ESXi on which run Windows 7 virtual machines that are not part of the view of the Horizon / VDI, under the same instance of vCenter. These virtual machines is designed to test applications package for SCCM.

My understanding is that this is not allowed and they would need an instance separate vCenter to manage this cluster of ESXi and VMs. We have spare parts, Enterprise Plus licenses that could be classified in the new cluster ESXi, but I suspect that he could still not run the instance of vCenter "vCenter Server 6 Standard for Horizon".

Can someone clarify the on the issue? I was unable to find the official wording of VMware on what is / is not allowed.

    Thank you.

Horizon suite comes with VMware Workstation, which can be used for packing.

This document seems to be official and can provide clarifications on the side of vSphere (not so much on the side of vCenter):

    http://www.VMware.com/files/PDF/products/horizon-view/VMware-horizon-view-pricing-Licensing-FAQ.PDF

In a virtual office environment Horizon, vSphere Desktop can be used to power the virtual desktop, as well as the underlying infrastructure for the VDI environment. Include the connection to the server, server security, active directory, tracking tools and other infrastructure directly related to and exclusive to the VDI environment. Storage servers, for example, would not be included.

  • Help with renovation Horizon View client for Mac

I'm packaging the client VMware View Horizon for our Mac desktops and laptops (we have about 150). Normally, it is a very simple and very easy process with this client because it is just a soft. We use Apple PackageMaker to repackage the Horizon of VMware View Client.appand add the plist for the test user for the deployment of future users profiles. We used some com.vmware.view.plist in the past to ensure that our connection to the server is prefilled and force PCoIP. It has worked great for us with all < 2.3 versions.

From 2.3 and 3.0 now, I have not been able to repackage the application correctly. I have download the .dmg to VMware and copy the .app in it in / applications; This is exactly how a user would install it on their system. I run the Client discovers once and connect to our login server using the settings I want to paste when you deploy this application to our machines. Then using PackageMaker, I point the first part of the package that will be created for Applications/Vmware view Horizon Client.app as usual (including the roots). It's normal. I choose com.vmware.view.plist file, and I'm using a plist Editor, delete the entry for my test user name and office that I'm connected to. In PackageMaker, the destination of this .plist file is in the default profile for the mac - so whenever a new user connects to the mac, they will receive the file .plist with the parameters we want. Sounds good. The package is built successfully. I deploy it on a machine to test successfully.

    When I connect on a test system and run the client from the view, I can connect properly. If I try to use the menu connection/printing enabled, all hell breaks loose and I get a series of errors;

    Invalid file in the package.

    The file is not valid:

    / Applications/VMware Horizon view Client.app/Contents/Library/thnuclnt/thnusetup.sh.

    Please download the official product.

    If I try to start services remotely USB, I get a similar error once it issues a warning that I will be asked to enter the credentials of the admin;

    Invalid file in the package.

    The file is not valid:

    / Applications/VMware Horizon view Client.app/Contents/Library/InitUsbServices.tool.

    Please download the official product.

?? If I run the app from the .dmg on this same machine, I have no problem. Any ideas?

OK, I just had to put the question so that I could think clearly through it.

There are some extended attributes on these shell scripts that PackageMaker removes when it reconditions the app. I conditioned as a .dmg, and copy the app via the postinstall script in the pkg... works very well after that.

    All welcomed to this topic?

Unfortunately the newspapers show much... (note: they do not contain client-side logs)

one thing I thought well... since he is a computer thinClient - we have seen the questions that manufacturers computer thinClient some of their own 'management' software install on the client. He often tries to do things with usb devices (maybe try to share them between a receiver client citrix application and view client app or maybe just there is a citrix receiver application installed too). In our experience, we've seen these apps interfere between them as they try to hang the bottom of usb devices down into the kernel.

as such, could you try stop any 3rd party services - either citrix or your provider of thin client and then try again.

If the problem persists, can you be sure to also collect these log files from the computer thinclient:

    Windows client

    • %ProgramData%\VMware\VDM\logs\debug-*.txt
      AND
    • C:\Windows\Temp\vmware-SYSTEM\vmware-usbarb-*.log

    Linux client

    • default /tmp/vmware-root/VMware-view-Usbd-*.log
      AND
    • / Library/Logs/VMware/vmware-usbarbitrator -.log

for reference, the Agent-side usb connects:

    • %ProgramData%\VMware\VDM\logs\debug-*.txt

  • Cannot get Horizon view 5.3.1 to use Windows CA certificate issued

    Hello

I have a Horizon view 5.3 vConnection Server installed and wanted to replace the self-signed certificate with one of my MS Enterprise CA (Win 2008 R2 Ent).

I followed the instructions of these two pages, I think exactly:

Terence Luk: certification for VMware view Horizon 5.2 with Microsoft Enterprise certification authority servers http://terenceluk.blogspot.co.UK/2013/04/issuing-certificates-for-VMware-horizon.html

    http://www.derekseaman.com/2012/09/create-VMware-Windows-CA-certificate.html

    I took the steps:

On my Win 2008 R2 Ent (standalone) CA, I reproduced the compatible under Windows 2003 CA Web server certificate template.

Changed the use of the key to activate non-repudiation and "allow encryption of user data.

Authentication of the Client added to enforcement strategies

Confirmed that the name of the topic has been set to "provide in the request.

Confirmed the vConnection Server computer account has the required permissions (btw, I even gave total control and the problem persists - is not a permissions problem)

Added the new model to the list available to be issued (CA MMC > Certificate Templates > New > model certificate for the question)

From the vConnection server, I open the MMC snap-in certificates, computer store

I asked a new personal certificate from my CA and selected the newly created model

I have completed only the FQDN internal of my server vConnection CN: [CN = "vmwv-vncenctn - 01.mydomain.local"]

I updated the friendly name and description "vdm".

I changed the friendly name of the empty self-signed certificate

I restarted Windows vConnection server just to make sure that all the necessary services were restarted

I cannot now connect to during a service of vConnection's web management interface - Page cannot be found.  If I have the friendly name of vdm revert to the original self signed certificate and restart services, access is restored.

Please can someone help me with this.  I spent two days pulling my hair and getting nowhere.

    Thank you

It works very well within the internal network, as I can connect to view security or view connection. Thank you

    See you soon,.

    Hello

As I understand it, he does. I say that because I have a networking team that looks after that and I can tell you, we had so much harm to our security server setting.

Mainly in our situation, our security server is behind not only the external firewall, but also BIG IP F5 load balancing. If the client connects to an IP address on the F5 what NAT then the connection to the Security server that tunnels and finally to the customer.

What you must ensure, is that in your configuration settings to display where you specify settings for the Security Server, that you have listed in this external IP address as the IP that the clients connect, this is where the customer is looking for the answer of. To complicate things for us, we had the customer come starting an Internet connection and packages back wanted to go on another connection (another IP address).

To help out you, not only to have the Security server logs, but if you can do it if you try to connect to a pool with a single machine, then you can look at the logs of the agent on this computer. It will give the list the connection attempt if it gets that far. I remember when the successful troubleshooting connection will be a line that sayd, that the customer is THAT NAT would have if you have someone who can read newspapers, wireshark can also be good to see what is happening on the place where.

Hope that helped, good luck, it can be a headache (try not to hit your head on the desk too).
