    Hello

It's always a good idea to have a paper copy of a disc (for resettlement and repairs).

And Yes, backup all your data as 'can' happen during an upgrade that is supposed to be easy.

This is a very good guide for what you want to do:

Make sure you go from Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 32 bit to be able to do an upgrade.

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/6892/how-to-perform-an-upgrade-from-Vista-to-Windows-7/

    And follow these steps first:

Go to the HP website and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

    http://WWW8.HP.com/us/en/support-drivers.html

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

  • How to connenct laptop from Vista to Windows XP PC to share internet?

My wife recently bought a new laptop Toshiba A100 with Vista installed.

My PC, connected to AOL Broadband uses XP as an operating system. I'm trying to set up a wireless link. AOL, said that XP and Vista are not compatible, and to put in place a link I have to buy and to install Vista on my PC or install XP on the laptop.

Is this correct? I don't want to install Vista on my PC as it is quite old and probably doesn't have the ability to run Vista - someone has any suggestions how I can solve this problem without changing the operating system?

If I need to change the operating system, I prefer to put XP on the laptop.
Y at - there a site where I can download this free of charge now that it has been superceeded.

OMG. You must not give a s * t on what they say. Of course, it is possible to set up a network or a direct link between XP and Vista. I even made myself... Do not worry!

  • How fix my computer from vista family premium, after a service pack 1 upgrade vista has been loaded remotely by the norton online assistant: lyuv_32.dll is displayed

I am a resident in the United Kingdom:

My initial problem is that as of March 12, I couldn't load my purchased copy of norton antivirus 12 - it said system was incompatible, it's a version of vista Home premium 6 (without service charge pack) - I thought that it would be compatible, as my old anti virus 2011 Norton worked well.

I loaded the bases of security from microsoft instead, and it seemed to work ok until a few days ago, when the program seemed to be scratched from the computer-not sure why. I could not reload either.

I got a very detailed answer to my question on how to try to solve this problem in the same microsoft help site - but I thought that it may be better let norton can help me to install the purchased copy.

When phoning norton helpline assistant said they needed to load remote service pack 1 for me, as an upgrade was required; but there seems to be a problem with the computer stops after download. I called again after 2 hours of waiting in vain to make the computer stop, and norton helpline worker said to restart manually, who led the unsuccessful installation of the upgrade; up to step 2 of 3 (only 2% charged to the top of step 2)

The computer turned off and started to load, but stopped when a message! oxco190036! 2369/90645(IYUV.32.dll) appeared in the top of the screen.

Norton hotline seem to have left me to deal with a huge problem and makes 100% worse than before - because after having tried various things in pressing f8 with their orientation; as files to an earlier time (called non-registered time to restore) they could not help me further and was told to contact microsoft myself - number norton gave me was outdated and the helpline was not accessible anyway, as I call me after 18:00 on Friday!

That's why I used my computer laptop girls to send in this issue of the problem, that I hope can be solved, because I'm not much re load windows from scratch if possible. I'm not a very confident in doing this, because I can only do basic computer tasks.

  • How do I downgrade from Vista to XP?

Original title: Windows Vista and Windows XP update Questions

Hello. I have Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit on this computer, when I found my old Windows XP Upgrade disk. I wanted to downgrade so I could make it easier on my game (because my computer has only 1 GB of RAM when Vista needs 2 GB). The option to install or upgrade could not be clicked. I knew then, that since she is already in a newer version, I may not go down, but is possible that I can?

Sorry if this is in a wrong Board or forum. I do not usually use these forums.

    ~ ElCaeko

No, there is no way to "downgrade" to an earlier version of Windows.  You must clean the computer, start all over and do a full install.  Given that your Windows XP is an upgrade disc you would need an eligible operating system to install Windows XP.

  • How do I fax from vista Home premium 64-bit. I have a usb modem. __

Before windows XP - I just hit print, select the fax printer and thenI could print.  The printer fax option does not appear.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/Windows-Vista/features/fax-scan.aspx

Vista Home Premium didn't include Fax software.

You need 3rd party software Fax:

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/reviews/Snappy_Fax_2000/snappyfax.html

Snappy Fax allows you to send and receive faxes from your computer. You can use your scanner to scan documents and then sent a fax to any fax machine, or use the print command other applications to use the virtual fax printer, allowing you to send faxes directly from most Windows applications. In addition, the program also supports faxes sending via the internet, filtering of unwanted faxes and transfer incoming faxes to other fax or e-mail addresses. Additional features include import address book, faxes by email (with zip for images support), OCR, spell checking and much more

  • How can I downgrade from Vista to XP?

It's a constant battle just maintaining a wisp of stability using Vista as my platform.  I would can the Vista and replace it with XP Pro.  My computer is very unstable and the software is such that when I type an icon on my desktop, I too never know what I'll get.  There are no options.  Either I am able to replace my platform or bury the computer encased in concrete, so it can never hurt another human being!

Although Vista is not my favorite operating system if the computer is free of viruses/malware and sound equipment you should not experience problems as you describe. Rather than taking the drastic decision to downgrade to XP, it would be better to find out what is the cause of instability. For example, if you have hardware problems, and then by installing another operating system do not solve anything. If you want to try and solve the real problems, start by making sure that the computer is clean and the material is good:

    http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

    http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Hardware_Tshoot

Or if the good material of tests you can back up your data and then create a factory restore. Maybe you have installed software that is not compatible, bad drivers, etc.. Here is the information requested on the downgrade to XP but I think it would be better to solve the problems under Vista.

    1. go to the OEM Web site and find the XP drivers for your specific model computer. If there is no XP drivers, you can not install XP. End of the story. If there are drivers, download them and store them on a CD - R or USB thumbdrive. you will need after installing XP.

    2. check with the OEM - either since their technical support site, either as - to see if you will cancel your warranty if you do this. If void you your warranty, you make the decision.

    3. If the OEM supports XP on the machine, call them and see if you can qualify to demotion and ask them to send you a XP restore disc. This is by far the easiest and best way to put XP on the machine.

    4. if XP is supported on the machine but OEM does not have a disk to restore XP for you, understand that you will need to buy a copy of XP to your favorite online or brick/mortar store retail.

    5. also understand that you will need to do a fresh install of XP, so if you have any data you want back first.

    6. If none of the above applies to you because you can't run XP which return (see point 1 above), the computer of the machine and buy a running XP instead.

Your master boot record think you still have Vista.

You can fix this since the XP Recovery Console.

You can start RC since a genuine XP bootable installation CD or make you a CD bootable XP Recovery Console using these instructions:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic276527.html

After booting into the Recovery Console, you should be in this folder:

    C:\WINDOWS

Enter the following command and answer Yes to the warning:

    FIXMBR

Enter the following command and answered in the affirmative:

    Fixboot

Remove the Console CD recovery and type 'Quit' to restart your system.
