How to configure remote access on my system?

How do iget a friend or remote security access my cpu

Hi Charles,

First of all, I think that you want them to be able to use Remote Desktop (not really remote access which is a little different) to connect to your computer and then work on your remote on their own computer as if yours was in front of them (with some minor limitations).

To allow your system receive the Remote Desktop connections (not all versions of Windows will - but most allow), see: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-networking/cant-remote-desktop-from-vista-home-premium/f6d87400-58a2-423c-86f3-5650a4e0b153.  This thread shows you how to do it in XP and Vista.  It is roughly the same as Vista to W7.

Then the person who wants to connect to you will need to send you a few items to be installed to work with the program they use for remote desktop.  It is typically logging in a web page and following the instructions you get on the phone (which they need to give you a code, usually) and then they can access.

Be VERY careful who you give it.  They can do almost anything once they are in control of your system.  While you can usually talk to them and usually can see what they are doing, it is possible for them to make downloads fast and such that you really don't want on your computer.  You can cut them with a click, but it is unclear what they can do in the meantime (depending on how they do it and how do I know that you're what happens).  I let my ISP and Dell use desktop remotely with me, but no one else never and only after I called them (and not if they called me) to make sure that I have about the right people and not crooks.  If it's a friend, make sure it's a really good who knows what he or she is doing.  With remote desktop, they can help you solve problems or completely flexible you.  You have allowed their past almost all your security protection when they are connected, so it isn't going to save you.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

Kosh

  • How to prohibit remote access vpn client to use the local DNS server

    Hello

I'm on ASA5505 remote access vpn configuration.

Everything works fine so far, except when the client got connected, he always used the local DNS server provided by the ISP.  How can I force the customer to use the DNS server configured on ASA?

    Thank you.

    Kind regards

The command "Activate dns split-tunnel-all" is supported only on SSL VPN and VPN IKEv2. Since you're using IKEv1, this command is not supported.

    Here's the order reference:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/security/ASA/asa82/command/reference/S8.html#wp1533793

You configure no split tunnel? If you are, then you need to configure "tunnelall" split tunnel policy, and that will force the dns resolution and everything else through the VPN tunnel.

  • Configuration remote access VPN (IPSec) using FULL domain name

    Hi friends of Cisco,

We have the DNS (only the internal IP) within our network, right now that we have configured VPN for remote access using public IP address and connect us with the same public IP address. I need help to use the domain name FULL rather than use public IP.

Can you please provide the configuration for this.

    Feature: ASA 5520

    Type of configuration: IPSec

    Thank you

    Hi Philippe,.

You can use one of the free Web of DNS dynamic sites and configure ASA to dynamic DNS.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions

Download a remote desktop for any phone application you have.  Configure your Windows XP computer (Professional?) the same way you would if you use another computer remotely in it.

Make sure that routers and firewalls allow the appropriate ports to pass through or transfer.

  • How to configure indexing and search for system files

The search bar that is displayed with Start is not all system files. I chose each setting that I can find so that he can do, but no luck. I don't have indexing turned on for all of the C: drive, and I don't think I want to do. He would not mind indexing all the disk once, and then only put my clues from the user files up-to-date. But I don't think not indexing should be necessary just to find a file by its name, and I don't want to search the contents of the filesystem.

    What should do?

By default, the search box of the start menu would not search the entire disk.  You'll have better luck if you click Start, computer, drive Local (c) and use the search box in top right of the window for the C drive.  Also, before you look, you want all the hidden files to be displayed.  Settings found under described gravityforce, and more if you click on the view tab (on the left), there are two parameters associated with hidden files to find and develop your taste: "Show etc. hidden files" and "Hide protected system files".

I understand that the research of the start menu is for items that are likely to be where ordinary users are putting their stuff (locations of the default folders for photos and so on) and the elements of the Panel and installed software in the programs, and thus the search from the start menu is for when we try only to locate something specific between those things.  When I want to have a thorough search of the entire disk, I click Start, computer, drive Local (c) and research to this place instead.

  • Wireless ISP and NATing / Remote access

It is more about networking than anything to do with a Microsoft product. I just need some advice.

I have a client who has a security system I have installed. Remote access to security systems are a common practice that I install several times without any major problems, so far. My ISP customer is a NAT through a PPTP connection wireless. I forwarded a port on the router, but he noticed that his WAN is an internal address so additional transfer must be made. I travelled on the next online device and found myself able to connect to the ISP (AirOS) Ubiquiti using the default user/pass. I just took a quick glance and notice that the Ubiquiti has a private wide AREA network that was just another jump in front of it. I don't know how many times it hops, but it could be from several times before arriving at the ISP. Y at - there a work around for this, or it would be possible to convince an ISP to transfer 1 port on every single jump they have between the client and the service provider?

I have alos got my friend to make sure that its parameters match mine. And I still have no success. Does anyone have other ideas? Alternatively, it won't work because I am trying to connect via the internet?

    Hi nataar,

    Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forums.

    • What software do you use for remote access?
    • What is the version of Windows installed on the computer?

If you use Remote Desktop connection in Windows Vista, try the procedure below

Log your PC computer with an account that has administrator privileges.

Step 1 open the start menu, right-click on "My computer" and select "Properties". A window with the options and details of the computer opens on your screen.

Step 2 go to the 'Remote' tab at the top of the window "Properties".

Step 3 check the box for the option "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer" in the section "Remote Desktop" in the Properties window.

Step 4: click on the 'Apply' button at the bottom of the window to save the changes and enable the remote desktop. Outside users will now be able to access your computer over the Internet.

Enabling remote desktop access to your computer

To activate the Office remote connections to your computer, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, right-click computer, and then select Properties.
    2. Under tasks, click settings on the remote control and confirm the user account control prompt.
    3. Select allow connections from computers running any Version of remote desktop. (Version 'more safe' only works on using IPSec security, and on these networks business networks, you probably will not be allowed to change these settings in any case).
    4. By default, all administrator-level accounts can connect to the computer. If you want to grant remote desktop access to a limited number of users, click Select users, add, advanced, find now and then find the desired name in the search results section. Double-click it. To add another name, click Advanced and find now again.
    5. Click OK to close the dialog boxes.

NOTE A password must be set on a user account before the user can connect to the remote computer.

At this point, you must do two things to make sure that remote desktop has been implemented correctly:

    • Click Start, Control Panel. Under Security, select allow a program through Windows Firewall and confirm the user account control prompt. On the Exceptions tab, find the Office remotely in the list of Exceptions and do not forget, that it is checked. If it isn't, check it out. On the general tab, make sure that block all incoming connections is not checked.
    • Use another computer to test the remote desktop before you get involved in the Internet game. Follow the instructions in the second part of the chapter to open the desktop client remotely on another computer on your network. As the host name, type the name of the computer you just put up. Make sure that you can connect on your own local network before continuing.

After installing Norton 2010 Security Suite, my hp officejet pro 8500 printer stopped printing. When I tried to do a system restore, I found that I had only a restore point and that was created after the installation of Norton.

Under XP, I had restore points created every day, automatically.

How to configure the creation of automatic system restore points in Windows 7 Pro?

    Hello Mikeoncamano,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site

Turn on or turn off System Restore

System Restore regularly changes made to your computer's system files and uses a feature called system protection to create restore points. System protection is turned on by default on the hard disk that Windows is installed. You can enable restoring the system for other disks by turning on system protection for these disks.

You can not turn on protection system for a disc is formatted by using the FAT or FAT32 file systems.

    To turn on System Protection

Open system by clicking Start , right-clicking computer, and then click Properties.

In the left pane, click system protection.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Under Parameters of Protection, click the disk, and then click Configure.

    Do one of the following:

To be able to restore system settings and previous versions of files, click on restore system settings and previous versions of the file.

To be able to only restore previous versions of files, click only restore previous versions of files.

Click OK, and then click OK again.

    Kind regards

It will create automatically restore points when there are changes to the computer or Windows.

Disable your Norton protection system and check if she created the restore point...

  • remote access VPN not connected - no access inside

Hi, I have successfully configured remote access VPN router, it is connected, but no access to the inside, none of my ip addresses. I do not know SPLIT_ACL is ok and I've denied NATting them. For me, everything is ok. I did a lot in ASA, without anyproblem. Thanks for the comments.
