When you press F6, you see the RAID controller that is listed as a boot option?

Can we go to the MMIC BIOS configuration, Advanced tab and check the Option ROM (OPROM) this controller is activated?

  • I installed VMware ESXi on my Cisco's UCS server but after that I don't get from CIMC.

I installed VMware ESXi on my Cisco's UCS server but after that I don't get from CIMC. also, I am unable to ping the address IP of CIMC. Any help?

I think that MMIC does nothing with your ESXi installation... it is OoB management for servers of the UCS.

Check your config MMIC inside the BIOS again.

Just-VCP5-VTC review first attempt scored 184 little weak feeling... is in any case I have server with 16 GB of memory and processors R710 Dual Core Quad and 4 TB of storage with raid 0 which gives me two 2 TB built in Lun with raid 5 OS mirrored disks. Have installed ESXi server and created 4 VMS 1 VC, 1 ms and 2 linux machine I will use as ESXi servers for clustering; HA; DRS etc.

I am struggling to install the vmware tools on virtual hosts esxi; can't seem to get the media using the mount command? I installed vmware tools on other virtual machines to linux without problem...

VMware Tools are not available or supported on ESXi virtual hosts.

BTW. I'm a bit confused about the "... and have 4 TB of storage with raid 0 which gives me two 2 TB built in Lun with raid 5 OS mirrored disks...» ». Assuming that you have 4 disks, not do you have configured them in 3 RAID5 disks with a backup?

    Hello

VMware ESXi is a bare metal hypervisor, so you install it directly on your hardware and not on your Windows operating system.

For the test, you can install ESXi inside a virtual machine. Download VMware Player, create a virtual machine and install the ESXi inside:

  • How to install VMware Tools in Ubuntu guest with no Internet connectivity?

I need to install VMware Tools in a Guest Ubuntu (10.04) running in VMware Player.

The machine on which it is running has no internet access; It is part of an isolated network.

I know there are a LOT of instructions on how to do it, and it seems that they all begin with "mount your ISO file...". ' or "click"Install VMware Tools..."."

Of course, I have not and cannot find a file ISO of VMware tools for Ubuntu.  I admit that I can be looked in the wrong place, but I watched several times and have spent many hours on it.   I tried Open VM Tools as well and followed the instructions included, but orders did not produce the responses described.

When I click on "Install VMware Tools" the machine just made several attempts to connect to a server that will never happen.

Although it does not prove that I know what I'm doing, I installed VMware Tools on several hosts of Windows XP.  For some reason, I was able to find many versions of VMware Tools for Windows ISO.  The installation worked everytime with very little hair loss.

Thanks for any help on this eternal question.

You will need to download the ISO images for the VMware Tools installation media at least once, on a computer with internet access.  Player menu--> File--> Preferences of the player.  Click on the button download now all components.  Once complete, there will be 6 ISO files in the folder of the player.  You can copy them to the same location on the PC that you are currently underway.  Then, you can follow the instructions to install VMware Tools in a Linux Guest, located in the help file.

  • How to install VMware Tools on Ubuntu 9.10 guest?

    Hello!

I have VMware 6.5.3 for Windows. I installed Ubuntu 9.10 32-bit and I don't know how to install tools guest inside Linux. Guest Windows, it's a blink of an eye, but here are more complicated. Can someone help me with step by step tutorial how to install this on Ubuntu 9.10? I'm newbie here.

When I click the button to install the tools I just get open File Browser with the file .txt, RPM and gz. Any file I click on I can't run Setup. Please help!

It's a little more complicated because each OS has a core (all about that), and Linux, you can have different versions of kernel.  Thus, the shell script (files ending in .sh) compiles all the binaries against what you have.  I believe that the version of Ubuntu has headers of the kernel with it, so that you would do is:

    1. go to places, downloads (the desktop menu bar)

    2. find your gz file, right click and select Extract here (I normally do it from the command-line using tar - zxvf, but this should work too)

    3. open this directory, right-click on the vmware-install file and select "Run as a program" (in this way you can kick it off)

    4. open a terminal (command prompt) and cd to that directory (should be cd downloads/vmware-tools-distrib)

    5. Type sudo./vmware-install.sh

    6. Enter your password when prompted, then go with the default values, and you should be set.  Make sure to run the configuration script (it will ask you if you want to, and you do, but if you mess up that part you can run it later so no biggie) and then sign out and sign back in.  You should not need to reboot and everything should work immediately.

At boot, you might see no ERROR.  It's probably the HGFS mount is not working due to no shared directories.  Don't worry about this for now.  If it bugs you, you can comment on him in/etc/fstab (but don't mess with it until you're a bit better).  Snapshots are your friend, so use it as your rescue as trash several times your VM Linux, because it will happen.

  • Just installed vmware ESXi 4.0.0.  Also have Workstation 6.5 I have a few questions here...

Good day, I am new and vmware esxi virtualization in general...

I installed the server esxi 4.0. and I want to welcome a few virtual machines on this server. I tried the ViCLient and really like it. But this customer is a 60 day trial and it costs $ 1,000 per license, if I understand correctly...

I also have the Vmware workstation 6.5 software.

My main goal for this is to be able to import and export on the esxi virtual machines, create snapshots, export these snapshots, etc... I'm not too familiar with Workstation 6.5 so, but so far, it does the job in terms of export and imprting vms from the ESXi. But I would like to be able to browse the data store, create virtual machines on the esxi without having to create them locally AND export to ESXi...

I would like to be able to create, manage, copy, create and import/export snapshots, to/from the esxi, but I guess you can't do all this using VmWare Workstation? I would buy the Vsphere CLient, but I'm not one who has a hand on the budget of COMPUTING...

When you access download ESXi you license number appears near the top of the page. Enter this number in the Configuration tab under license vSphere client.

I am running VMWare Workstation 6.5 (build 118166), on a host Windows Vista Ultimate x 64, and I installed "Ubuntu 8.10 Server" guest OS, but have been unable to get the VMWare Tools to install on the Ubuntu 8.10 Server guest operating system.

To add the tools to start, try to add the entries you need to preferences-> Sessions-> startup programs

A new message with details on how to accomplish this would be a very good thing, because this application is a lot around here.

    Thank you!
