  Looks like you want to control the programs that run at startup, right? It is always a good thing to do. You can run MSCONFIG (type in the search window on the start menu).  See the "Startup" tab  So, you can use other applications to display the same information.   Have you started your subscription? If so, try cloud creative output and new in signature. Go to settings (speed) icon to disconnect. After you have signed in once again, expect apps to refresh. Let us know if that makes a difference.

  You're telling me that the manufacturer could not / refuses to send you the installation media to restore their computer to condition "as delivered"?

  Who is the manufacturer?  I know that Dell, HP, Lenovo, ASUS, Toshiba, etc all have them set up programs to help users specifically with (this installation/recovery to get to their systems support) as they agreed (in their license agreement with Microsoft) provide a method for the end user to do exactly this.

  In many cases the 8/8.1 Windows product key is embedded in the BIOS at the factory for these machines.  You could read here on some methods for such a key - but honestly - you shouldn't have it (must be able to skip that part in installation and always get installed.):

  Your computer comes pre-installed with Windows 8. You can extract the product key on the basis of good records, but it will not help you add functionality to your edition of Windows. To add features (Windows 8 Pro Pack or Media Center Pack) to your existing windows, you must purchase a product key that is completely different from your product key of Windows 8.
