  In order to use switchable graphics, you will need to go to HP.com and download the driver for Windows 8 if it is available.

  If this isn't the case, you may need to go back to win7 to use switchable graphics.

  Hi, I have a laptop HP dv6 3131tx (64-bit). I just recentley upgraded to Windows 8 since my laptop is supposed to be compatible to the HP Web site.

  I can't find drivers for my card (ATI radeon 5650 including) 1 GB switchable graphics.

  Because of this problem, I can not connect my laptop to do anything with my HDMI cable, I can't use software such as AutoCAD (software engineering), I can not play almost any game that required the decent graphics and my laptop runs out real costs quickly becausei can't change my graphics mode.

  I also tried with the driver of windows 7 in compatibility mode, but even that is no problem.

  Really need help. As soon as possible. Thanks in advance.

  My best advice would be to use 3rd party personalized graphics drivers switchable such as those found on the following link - these were a success with people using switchable graphics who want the latest drivers.

  I suggest strongly to read the Manual about installing these drivers and to understand why driver signature enforcement must be disabled to load these custom drivers.

• Catalyst Control Center won't save my switchable graphics settings

  I recently got a HP dv6 and I really like it. It comes with a dedicated graphics of Radeon 6490 Mr. I had no problem with using it until I upgraded my Catalyst 11.1 Control Center, I think. I've since had questions apply settings that I put for switchable graphics. I can open and only display the CCC and switchable graphics, no problem:

  But, when I want to record the settings changed in switchable graphics and press on apply, the settings back to the way they have been, and will not, save like nothing happened.   I'm pretty sure I have all the drivers for the card update, but AMD doesn't let me use downloads of their cause of site I should use the manufacturer programs I think. I have automatic updates turned on, including HP Support Assistant. I tried to look online for a solution, and the closest thing I've found is this site: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1819873 which is a blog with someone who has almost the same problem as me, but without solution. I could perhaps try to downgrade, but I can't find a way to do this or a download link.

  Hello. I don't know if you have already solved your problem, but his should help other people as well in any case. I managed to solve this problem today on my laptop. What I've done, it's the Division of hp drivers, I downloaded catalyst (catalyst in the ati site gave me this problem). the driver that ships with this catalyst did not work, so I used windows update to get a working driver. so, in theory, what you have to do is download from the hp Web site catalyst, and during installation you select custom and click Next until what he gives you a list of the programs you want to install. You should uncheck everything except catalyst. (do NOT install the driver gpu, catalyst ONLY)
  I'll post a link for the driver for my laptop model, but since you will only need a catalyst, it shouldn't be a problem.

  You can also search for your model, but I recommend not to install the driver anyway. just get it from windows update, I have assumed that you already have the driver anyway. Good luck.

• How to install ati updates if I have switchable graphics (i5 y560 / ATI 5730).

  Official installer of course does not work.

  I read of a "Workaround" to run the official Installer, so that it can recover the files and then manually update pending. But it did not work, official installer would not start the download as I'm inconsistent, so I can not even at the stage where I can work with raw installation files.

  Is what kind of PC/Laptop? Some use a separate program to configure the use, and others are in the BIOS to turn on and off.

  I recently installed the new drivers by AMD (v.13.1) on my laptop HP Pavilion dv6-3060ej (Windows 7 64-bit), which uses the Intel HD Graphics and AMD Radeon HD5650 switchable graphics.

  The fact is that I met a few rendering problems on the latest 12.6 which supported my graphics and allowed soft switching between them. Version 13.1 solved my problems of rendering, but another question - it simply does not recognize my graphics card so that it installs only some of its features and leave the Catalyst Control Center features so I can't pass my graphics cards. I even tried to leave the latest CCC, but it comes with an error message.

  To summarize, my strongest Radeon HD5650 graphics card works well but I cannot switch to the Intel's HD to save the life of the battery.

  Hello IBINATOR.  I appreciate that you try to upgrade your Radeon (with drivers AMD) graphics while keeping the switchable graphics in a working state.  Is this correct?

  This is workaround only to your question and you must have the game, Steam client, installed.  The HP driver for your graphics card contains a driver for the card from AMD, the Intel card and switchable graphics framework.  You can then use the game client, steam (through a partnership with AMD), to update the part switchable graphics system AMD while keeping graphics intact.

  1. Remove your current AMD drivers using this utility and restart your laptop.
  2. Download the latest version of the drivers from HP.  Here is a link.
  3. Install the driver and reboot again.
  4. Follow the steps in this thread to use steam to update the graphics driver.
  5. Restart one last time and check if the problem is resolved.

  This may be a very stupid question, but I couldn't find the answer anywhere else.

  I have a HP Envy-m6 with switchable graphics, with the usual of an Intel HD 4000 combination and an AMD Radeon HD 7600M graphics card.

  When I bought the laptop and did not realize he had switchable graphics, I made the mistake of updating the drivers for one of these cards through the manufacturer sites, bringing all to go haywire. I finally managed to restore it and I was told that the only way in which you can update these drivers is via the software driver on the HP website offerend (or perhap use HP Support Assistant).

  However, only today, Windows Update indicated that there were updates for pilots of the AMD and Intel. My question is simple: can I update the two drivers through Windows Update, or it will cause switchable graphics break?

  If I can't use Windows Update to update these drivers, HP will come out a combined driver package that integrates these new drivers on the Support Web site at some point?

  Apologies if these questions are obivous, but I couldn't easily find the answer elsewhere, and I would rather have to re-install my drivers from scratch once again.

  Hi Tio_Holzman,

  Updates Windows checks the site of the manufacturer for updated drivers.  I recommend that you use the HP drivers, HP may have modified them for your exact system.  As you said when you install the drivers from the manufacture website, they do not always perform as you want and this is why.

  The HP Support Assistant check the HP site for the current drivers for you exact model.

  Pilots will be published or updated at the discretion of HP.
