  What your request is what I get on my machine.  So, I sailed to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32, click Favorites on the left side, click right and choose "Add current location to Favorites".

  What it gave me was SYSTEM32 in my list of favorites, and when I click it it only opens the right pane to this place.

  OK, so for your problem, it doesn't not self-expanding.  You can change this quite easily in the Folder Options.  Open something like the computer, click the arrow next to organize, choose folder and Search Options.  On the general tab, you will see under the Navigation pane option to turn on the self-expanding.  You won't achieve what you want.

The computer is a Dell Studio 1737 plenty of core duo memory 4 MB with plenty of space on hard drive and it seems to do well but all the * running in the background makes it run hot so the fan. All I want to do is get a scan for my installed bios system and install an updated version. I am not able to do at Dell. Maybe they want me to pay to support or something. I did all the FixIt of ms, I ran three different registry cleaners, I ran three viruses different scans, nothing. I've loaded my vista dell disk and tried to recover or repair and cannot do it either. I notice weird things with ie. I've done several downloads for versions 32 and 64 bit, to do the right thing.
