  I can help you to scan to your Mac running 10.9.3.

  There is no full feature software and driver of HP, but the pilot of Mavericks v10.9 OS X for your printer is available through Apple Software Update (ASU).

  With this driver, you can still print and scan, you'll just have to scan from HP software. Scan to the computer from the printer control panel is available only when you use the HP scanning software, so it won't work because there is no scanning software HP as part of the Apple Software Update driver.

  Just bought HP Envy printer 4500 which is supposed to print on both sides.  I put a copy of a document of two faces in the place where the document is supposed to copy.  I put the function copy, black ink, 2 Facer.     Then, I pressed 'start' and a copy out of feeder.  When I pressed on the two long side once again I get the message 'paper jammed' I called HP and Best Buy and nobody can help you.  HP support says paper I use is the cause.   Excuse me, but this is a multipurpose with 96 bright paper, 20 lb.   Best Buy tech told the paper or the paper type has nothing to do with anything.    I wanted to only two printed sides to save paper, but I can't live without this feature.

  But, for the record, I learned the machine is faulty by Best Buy and return.   I don't think it's paper or defective.   What do I do and where can I find the explicit directions to copy both sides of the paper.  No computer!

  • Press copy,
  • Touch 2 faces
  • Touch black or color

  Now the printer says «face...» "It will copy the first page, do not remove paper.

  • Turn the paper on to the second page (or put the second page on the glass).
  • Press ok

  It will copy the second page.

  I'm sorry to hear that the update of the firmware is also a failure for you. Make sure that you have not any "paper" or "paper jam" message on the screen when you try to send the firmware. If all goes well on the printer when you try to send the firmware, it sounds like something may be altered in your printers of programming.

  At this point, I will send you a private message with a special printer resets in it. I suggest that you check your private messages and cross the reset, I'll provide you with.   A simple reset should solve this problem immediately. Remove the power cord from the back of the printer when the printer is still on. Wait about 30 seconds and plug the power in. The printer should reset and return to normal operation.

  I just got a printer wireless HP OfficeJet 4500 (CN547A). This printer seems to be all the time and won't in powersave mode. After discussions with tech support, my understanding is that if no print jobs are sent to the printer at the end of an hour, the printer is supposed to enter powersave mode. I do not understand why it remains online in the State of full power all the time. I first asked HP support about this and they had me unplug the printer and press on and press and hold the # and 3 while plugging him back in. That seemed to put the printer in mode powersave, but then as soon as I printed something, that he would stay in line other times, as in, it would still be online in a status of full power several hours after it printed something. He does not think it is only a fax and print again normally computer. I think the drivers HP takes over again and did not allow 10 Windows run the show and confuse the printer and the computer more!

  My Deskjet 4500 G510g-m will not scan to PDF. The Solution Center does not show a scanning pane. Printing HP and Scan Doctor indicates that an update is required for the Cener Solution, however, the update link goes to an update to the Pro 8500 and the update will not be installed for this printer. The software has been installed from download the latest driver from the Web site. Uninstalled several times, including from the file bat of the cd. Printer is connected by USB to a Windows 7-64 bit computer.

• HP ENVY 4500 does not print a PDF file

  I have Win7 HP laptop HP ENVY 4500 all-in-One printer wireless and iMac OS X 10.9.1 desktop. It prints all good document file formats, except a PDF file. When I try to print a page of a PDF doc't, via Adobe Reader (11.0.07), it prints 6 equidistant tiny portions of the original PDF page on a single sheet. All six parties are in the same area of the upper quadrant of the original PDF page. I tried many portrait, landscape and size configurations, but in vain. It will not print PDF of my iMac and PC browsers files. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the printer and its driver a couple of times. It installs OK without error messages, but it will not print PDF. Also, I don't get any error messages when I try to print a PDF file. I don't see any documentation supplied with the printer printer to say that this HP all-in-one cannot print PDF doc'ts, and it seems to me that it would print a PDF file until several weeks ago. Please notify.

  I was finally able to print PDF files. But it's been so long ago because it was fixed that I don't even remember what was the solution. But four possibilities come to mind: (1) is of course the "print as image file" option has been activated; (2) re-installed printer driver; (3) re-installed Acrobat Reader and ensured that browser and extensions of processing of s/w, if any, have been correctly selected for my printer. (4) corrected a wrong paper, the type, quality, or size option layout which may have resulted in a page layout or a different format from what should be the 'standard' to a PDF file. Sorry I can't be more specific than that. But if I have to determine exactly what I could do to get PDF printing to work properly, I will go straight to you. BTW, I certainly don't rely on an intermediate file conversion service or s/w to transfer my PDF files to a printable format. I hope this helps.
