  • Satellite L40 (PSL48E) - is not restart after BIOS update

    Hello

My problem is that I have updated the BIOS and after that the machine does not restart. (Corrupt BIOS?)

After that the BIOS updated (Satellite L40 PSL48E), reboot the machine and with the F2 key, I open the BIOS setup.
I check the version of the BIOS (5.50) and complete the configuration of the BIOS. The machine must restart now...
Not at all, the machine does not restart. No screen only the powerled lights.

I can to fix it on my own as a BIOS reset?

    Thank you for the cooperation.

It's strange because after that the updated BIOS update you can go into the BIOS.

However, try to remove the battery and the AC adapter. Wait one hour and then put the battery back in and connect the AC adapter. Try again.

If it doesn't work it is something wrong with the hardware or BIOS and must be checked by a technician for laptop.

  • Satellite L40 - Wi - Fi connection after restart problem

    Hello

My sister had a Toshiba Satellite L40 (PSL40E - 04501DDU) and a few days ago I installed a wireless router at home.
Wi - Fi worked within 2 minutes, but when I restarted the laptop he couldn't find any Wi - Fi networks (whereas before I restarted, I found 4).

It took me about an hour to make it work again
    -Turn off/on Wi - Fi
    -several reboots
-deletion of a Wi - Fi connection - configs
-switching between Vista Wi-Fi-tool and without configuration by Toshiba
    -updated drivers
    -etcetera...

I don't know which of them did the trick, but after going through all these actions it seemed to work again.
I thought I had conquered the problem, but only today (after only 1.5 days) my sister contacted me saying that the Wi - Fi 'fell down' again.

Does anyone know what could be the problem?

When I look in this forum I see about 1200-forum topics on the problems of Wifi on Toshiba laptops, so I guess it's a recurring problem with several models of Toshiba.
Most of the subjects also speaks a Wifi works very well and doesn't work anymore after restart/sleep/hibernation.

    Laptop: PSL40E - 04501DDU
OS: Windows Vista 32-bit (latest updates + latest drivers)

(Please, no answers like: "is your DHCP on?") or "the router is compatible with the Wi - Fi device?")

    Hi crazysoul,.

I understand that you don't know the answer to that, because you are not always there when the Wi - Fi fails, but if the laptop is not looking upwards * all * networks, the same as before?

What WLAN driver version is installed on this laptop? The most recent is 7.6.0.164.1, it can be interesting to update. Also, forgive me if you already checked, but under network adapters Device Manager, find the device wireless and in the Properties window, if there is a power management make tab you unchecked the checkbox to turn off the device to save power.

  • Satellite L40: How can I recover the files from the hard drive

    Hello

Can someone help me please. About a week ago I started to have a clicking sound coming from my laptop Satellite L40. My laptop froze and when I restarted, I was directed to the system configuration with a message at the bottom saying
"Pri Master Hard Disk Drive SMART status bad, Backup and replace."
    Press F2 to assume. »

I pressed F2, but I don't have any idea what to do?

Can someone tell me how do I backup my files until my HDD disappeared completely or if it was can I use another device to get down them.

I tried using the recovery disk, but the disk does not respond?

    Help, please

    Pete

    Hello

This message looks like a warning of S.M.A.R.T. notification
This means that your HARD disk will eventually fail.
It can happen in the next few days or it can't happen for a few months but the SMART feature has detected that the drive is wrong then it should be replaced as soon as possible.
It seems that your laptop is not very old, so the warranty should cover all replacements.

I see only one way to access and back up the data. Eventually, you could buy an external enclosure SATA USB HARD drive and was able to connect the HARD drive to another computer.
I don't know if you will be able to access the HARD drive because of the failure, but if you want you can try this m.

    Good luck

  • Problems of updating BIOS on Satellite L40 - 15G

    Good afternoon.

    I have Toshiba Satellite L40 - 15G and I want to put 4 GB of ram (2 x 2).
It works with 3 GB but with 4 GB it just does not start - gives me a blue screen.

I read on the internet and discovered that I have to update my BIOS (my version curent is 1.60).
I have vista 32 bit. I also tried to do the update via the site of toshiba, but without success.
I am running the .exe file, but when I restart the computer I have the same version.

    What should I do?

In the hope of a response.
    Pedro

    Hello

I think you are using an incorrect BIOS.
Satellite L40 - 15 G seems to belong to the series of PSL48E

    Check again!

Toshiba Europe page provides a BIOS 2, 00-VICTORY for Vista and WIN-5, 50 for Win XP

    Regarding the upgrade of memory:
I don't know if your laptop would be m supports 4 GB of RAM. Is that there are different models of L40 and some models supports only 2 GB of RAM!

Your L40 - 15 G seems to use the Mobile Intel GL960 Express Chipset...
Check out the details on the Intel page which RAM max can be managed by the Intel GL960 Express Chipset.

  • New SSD does not-Satellite C55 - A - 1DC guard reboot

    Hello

Since 2 days I have the Toshiba Satellite C55-A-1 ms.

I couldn't get used to Windows 8 and found the drive to slow down. So I formatted the disc ssd of my old laptop, so it was clean and empty and then put it in my new Satellite.

Once I put it on the bios in MSC mode I managed to install Windows 7 64 bit.
Installation went fine but now guard restarting my laptop.
To power up, I see the Toshiba screen, after a black screen runs, then screen Toshiba still followed by screen black etc etc etc keeps going like that.

I tried to install windows with AHCI mode and compatibility mode.

The SSD is a Sam + ung 840 series 120 GB.
Worked fine in my old A + er sucks (got 3.5 years ago)
so I just assumed it would work also in this Satellite.

I hope someone can help me solve this problem, otherwise I have to share in this laptop for another cause of the brand, I have an ssd inside.

    Kind regards

To be honest, I see no reason why this is happening. Have you tried to install Win7 once more? If Yes, the same thing happens again and again?

  • Satellite L40 - failure of BIOS

    Guys,

I'm Ray of Indonesia. Satellite L40-A511 just bought a month ago but I noticed after correctly installing XP (and after partitioning hard drive with GParted), I can't use the key entry in digital mode. I am a translator of film and my software requires me to run it in Windows XP environment.

The key entry is vital (in digital mode) since I m using it much for tracking in the subtitles. Now after a while, the shortcut key for the volume was also malfunction. So, after reading some of the threads here, I conclude that maybe after the FN key BIOS update works perfectly. So I download the BIOS driver for XP to here and run the winflash.exe several times but nothing happens. So I run the .bat and it took the computer must be restarted. Then I press "F2" to the homescreen Toshiba, F9 and F10 to save the configuration. But, alas! I could not start Vista and Windows XP Home edition. The power is on, but it won't access the hard drive AT ALL!

I think I Jinx guys lappie. It's quite possible that I can not get my L40 back as it used to be?

    Desperately,.
    Ray

    Hello

Really sounds like your machine was messed up in some circumstances hollow the BIOS update, but I can't say for sure. If I were you, I would immediately send the machine to a service center to repair your beautiful machine until it reaches the last day of the warranty period.

I guess you won´t be able to fix this problem yourself.

    Welcome them
    and good luck

  • Satellite L40-139: new graphics driver is causing the problem after waking from sleep

I have a three month old Toshiba Satellite L40-139 (PSL40E) with 1 GB of RAM with Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium pre-installed. This laptop worked very well for me for the basic headquarters far tasks, and I would have no problem recommending.

In the last days I've updated the software and drivers from the Microsoft Update web site.

Since the update driver Mobile Intel(r) 945 Express Chipset Family (to version 7.14.10.1350, dated October 18, 2007), the screen resolution at 800 x 600 after awakening from the sleep state. The only way I found to fix it is to restart the PC.

Other articles published on the web, I understand that this particular driver (Mobile Intel(r) 945 Express Chipset Family driver 7.14.10.1350 version) has caused many other problems on a variety of hardware and software platforms.

Does anyone have a definitive solution for Satellite L40?

    I looked at four options.

    1. let the new installed driver and restart Windows each time after waking up from sleep mode. Rather, I must not do this.

    2. using the Restore Point created by Windows Update before the update of the driver, roll back to an earlier time. This seems to be a good course if it works.

3 download an older version of the driver and reinstall it. I don't know which version would work but note that others have had success with the 7.14.10.1280 version. I guess a similar version could be included in the driver Package that can be downloaded from Toshiba Europe site, but have heard that the time required to download this software can exceed ten hours and am therefore reluctant to try.

    4. the fourth option is not really possible. I should be able to "Roll-Back" the driver in Device Manager, but the button is disabled.

Although only a minor problem, it is very irritating and I would like to address them without causing other problems. Does anyone else have this problem? Someone has fixed it successfully?

    Hello Peter

If I understand correctly, you use your usual laptop for daily work and you don't need any computer high-performance notebook. If I'm right I have to say that you should be happy if the laptop works well and stable.

I don't really see any reason why you wanted to update chipset driver. In any case, you should try to roll back the BONES of time earlier and I hope everything will work again. There is absolutely no risk, and you can test it.

    Please post the result.

  • Cannot start OS on all new Satellite L40

    Can someone help, please?

I just got my new series Satellite L40 with Vista premium installed.
Power plugged and open the device on, and received this message:

"The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows Setup cannot continue. To install windows click ok to restart the computer and then restart the installation. »

So, I go ahead and click ok, system shut down boots then again with the same message over and over again. Read the small manual content provided and ask the recovery disc to insert, followed by the closing down of the device. While the system restarts to hold the F12 key then select the DVD drive and continue to follow the on-screen instructions.

I did it to the letter and still the same result with the message reappear.
I thought that the recovery disk was empty but have checked on the desk and he has record of files on it, so I tried again.

Without any joy. It is for tomorrow a gift which I feel that I will not be able to give because of this case, and it's too late to get another.

    PLEASE, PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP?
    MANY THANKS & KIND REGARDS
    TOMMY

    Hello

Put it supplied recovery media in the DVD player, turn on the laptop and immediately press the C button. Please, keep it down for about 5-10 seconds. It will require your notebook to start recovery media playback and start the process OS installations.

If there is nothing to check with your dealer tomorrow and I am sure that you will get a new notebook. usually the Exchange should not be problematic.

  • Satellite L40 dosen't load - black screen

When I turned on my laptop today I just had a black screen.
Says battery fully charged, but if I turn off the power the light disappears.

The led drive usually flickers, but is it not also.
    Can someone please?

I tried to install Windows to new cd Vista recovery disk and it worked for 2-3 days then the same problem black screen nothing works!

Please help me I have not installed any hardware or changed any material!

It is a toshiba Satellite L40

    Thank you

    Hello

You should try to first remove the battery and disconnect the power adapter for about 20-30 min. after that time reconnect both part and try to start Notepad.
Usually, this should help to restart the laptop.

In addition, a BIOS update must be performed.
I read that a BIOS update resolves many strange problems and that I myself remember the black screen problem could be solved also.

So check it out and good luck

  • Satellite L40 - 17 t - WiFi device has warning yellow sing

    Hello

I'm trying to fix myself first. That's what I have: Satellite L40-17 t (PSL48E-02N02TRU), RTL8187B, Vista (unfortunately Russian version - I can't take it to a place of repair, here, to the United States), Kaspersky updated (I guess that there is no virus in my system)

    Here's what happens:

    (1) the WiFi on the side only flashes once the laptop when starting, then it turns off (is this normal?)
    (2) there is no link - it has 'unknown network - connect only to local '. The other computer works fine with the Lynksis
    3) there is a yellow exclamation next to the Realtek wireless controller
    (4) in its General properties, there is an error 37

    That's what I tried:

    (1) I tried to update the driver for the properties, but it is said that it didn't need to be updated
    (2) I tried to delete the form the menu device driver and then reinstall it from USB key (I extracted the driver from Toshiba website to a flash drive). When the installation is complete, it says it is complete, but the State in the menu, it says that it could not install the driver - consult the manufacturer.

Once when I turned on the laptop it started to run a system recovery, but after that even the keyboard stopped working. Now, there is no keyboard, no WiFi, no same connection through the cable - it says unknown network. Everything that used to work before.

Please help, please tell me could this be something I can fix on my own, or look at it as a dead-end?

    Thank you

    Hello

Hmm for me it looks like a driver simply issue first of all, I would recommend deletion of the current WLAN driver. Then go to Device Manager > right click on the WLAN card > Uninstall. Then, restart your computer. Now, run a registry cleaner like CCleaner (freeware) and clean the registry. He must find the old and bad registry keys and delete all the. Then reboot again and now download & install the latest Portal WLAN Toshiba WLAN driver:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

What operating system you're using now? It's the preinstalled Windows operating system from Toshiba?
