HP 8562 A, acquisition, limit 600points

Hello

Pluggable Labview 8.5 communing by GPIB with a HP8562A Spectrum Analyzer.

My problem is I'm limited to 600points in an acquisition, you had this situation? And if yes where does this limit?

En measure that we can not avoid this limit, I would like to make money bands. Let me explain:

Of I do my 90 Mhz acquisition a 115 Mhz (left on 600points), I would like to make strips of under 5 MHz (on 600 points (90-95, 95-100 100-105...). And add all of this to be more accurate.

Currently I shows only a chart between 90 and 115, and not of I don't know how to start one this en under bandages. Can you help me?

Thank you
Patrice

I'm using LabVIEW 8.5 communicate by GPIB with a HP8562A Spectrum Analyzer.

My problem is that when acquiring data, I am limited to 600points, anyone already encountered this situation? If so, this limit whence?

If we are unable to avoid this limit, I would like to use strips of void. Explanation:

I'm acquisition between 90 and 115 MHz (with 600points), and I would like to use sub band of 5 MHz (with 600points (90-95, 95-100, 100-105...). And add everything to be more precise.

Right now, I'm only show a graph between 90 and 115, and I do not know how to divide into groups void. Can someone help me?

Now the subject of your question, my guess is that the limit is from the way in which you get your Spectrum Analyzer data. You directly use gpib LabVIEW VIs or a pilot already made?

I found that the 600points limit is probably due to the default value, you have to change or format you use: take a look at this post on the forum.

To void strips, you must acquire the data of the different 5 MHz with the same settings and then you should have an array of 600 points for each void bands. Then, you can concatenate the tables by using the table of construction VI.

Hope this will help,

    Ty

Your problem is that you are setup to do one sample on request.  This means that you count on the loop to set your frequency of acquisition.  You probably really want to continuous samples with a rate that is much higher, depending on what you are trying to capture.

Looks like you're trying to sample every 100ms.  It is 10 Hz.  Therefore Nyquist function, 5 Hz is the highest frequency that you can enjoy.  Anything more than that will alias down in the 0-5 Hz range.

  • Limit the audio via the acquisition of data, what is the analog output rate of the pci-6014?

    Hello

I'm trying out audio buffers thanks to an acquisition of data pci-6014. Audio files normally have a sampling rate of 44.1 kHz, but I noticed that when I try to exit, at this rate, that I get an overflow error. I checked the datasheet and it shows a rate of output of 10 K samples per second, way too slow!

This device 6014 is quite expensive but are still unable to a stereo sound output signal... ? Is there a way to bypass this limit? It is not sensible to pay $1000 one another.

    See you soon.

I don't think there is a way to increase the analogue of rates. The 6014 is old enough. A better card and cheaper, would be the 6221.

  • data acquisition won't taste at the specified rate

Material: C - DAQ 9178, AI 9239, inside a servo and an encoder potentiometer module

Setup: I use the 9239 to measure the angular position of my servo and encoder of trees by streaming came pressure pot of the servo and my encoder. I put the sampling frequency on the DAQmx - Schedule VI to 100 Hz.

Problem: I don't think that my DAQ is sampling data at 100 Hz because my VI registers more than 10 000 data points for a 10 second test. In addition, every time I have save my data in a text file, the vector of time my test data resets after a number of iterations.

To debug, I tried the following configuration:

I've defined the sampling frequency of 100 Hz (or is that s/s?), the samples per channel (size of buffer for continuous mode) at 2000 samples, number of samples per channel up to 10 and loop milliseconds timer on my VI at 10 m accordingly, data acquisition would send 100 samples per second (or 1 sample every 10 ms) on my PC buffer (which could store 20 X that amount). Then LabVIEW would read up to 10 samples per loop iteration (which is itself ~ 100 Hz) and work with these 10 samples inside the loop. However, since the loop is operating close to the sampling frequency of data acquisition, then LV should only work with 1 sample each iteration of the loop (100 Hz / 100 Hz)-not the 10-sample-max that I specified.

However, I stumbled on "error-200279: the application is not able to cope with the acquisition of material" when I ran the program. Why?

My code and materials should be easily able to cope with data acquisition - at least the way I put it in place

This whole situation wondered my fundamental understanding of data acquisition timing, so I would really appreciate an explanation of exactly how to deliver DAQmx uses data synchronization, why my DAQ sample at 100 Hz, and how can I fix the calendar specified by the user.

    Thank you!

It's actually the 9239 that limit your sampling rate.  Read the data sheeton page 5 there's available data rates.  In short, your data rate allowed is 50kS/s / n, where is goes from 1 to 31.  50 k/31 gives you 1.6kS / s.  So, it's the minimum sampling frequency that can be used.

I put the generation mode like "Samples continues", samples of writing/reading of 1.2 M and 500K (Hz) frequency in the DAQ Assistant. I also tried 500K and 500K.

The scheme of vi is illustrated in the following figure.

Of the front plate, the generation of signal is normal, which may be seen in the left side of the following figure. But signals a lot of periodic fluctuations that will appear if the right side of the figure. In addition, the siganl acquist go all the time.

I think it's maybe a few errors with my setting of the sampling frequency, I tried a lot of time for a change of pace, but it seems unnecessary.

These fluctuations exist not only in the growing period but alos can be seen in the declining period, which is shown in the following figure:

  • Detection of overruns of vibratory limit with FFT

    Hi all

We follow a piece of rotating machinery for vibratory limit overruns.  Our acquisition of digital data is running at 3333Hz with anti-aliasing in front of the ADC analog filters.  We sample at least 5 times on the highest frequency of interest.  We then duplicate the measured data and apply several sets of filters band pass to divide the specrum in several frequency buckets watching us then for exeedences the limits defined.

We head to dedicated hardware for our analysis of the frequency of a solution all digital.  I have a display FFT showing the linear magnatude of the signal over the frequency.  Then, I want to implement limit control on the output of the FFT for real-time tracking.  We will always post our data in frequency bins and will have a second look to limit cost overruns after the fact.

As most seems, I had trouble doing exact enough amplitudes of the FFT.  Not sure if my problem is spectral leakage or a total lack of understanding FFT.  I think it's the latter.

My sample VI has a capture of dynamic data with a real overtaking in the bandwidth of 4-50 Hz.  The limit is 5 across.  Amplitude in this bandwidth was almost 10.  I've included a screenshot of exceeding the limit on the face before of the VI for reference.  I have also indexed data saved to the point where the excceedence is visible on the raw data.

I tried using a FFT to visualize this limit so that I can detect the overflow, but I have not been successful.  FFT tried several methods and all do not reach the height.  Those smarter than me could give it a try?  I don't want to run multiple filters of past band by signal in real time, as we do post-processing.  I am trying to monitor and display data between 8 and 24 channels.  I am concerned about the limits of my processing power to stand in a real-time environment close.

Thanks for the help!  And I would like to know if it's just the misapplication of an FFT and if something is better in order.

    -Chris.

    Lynn,

Thanks for the reply!  I tried the inverse FFT road as well, but my implementation was nowhere as clean as yours.  I had to spend your complex 1 d inverse FFT block to match the data source however.  The actual parameter was twice the amplitude of output.  Update attached VI.

I like this solution and you will use Fortunately!

I have an another question though.  My company uses not rms.  All our limits are in peak (peak-to-peak) / 2.  We can also assume that all the waveforms are sinusoidal and so impossible to convert from rms to crete with a root of 2.  I'll need a FFT function that does not export in rms.  In Matlab, our guys had to code our own FFT function as rms output all built-in functions.

Any ideas on where to find a FFT function that does not export in rms?  Annoyingly, I need then inverse FFT in rms as well to match.

  • 6608 period or frequency limit of sampling frequency

I use a card counters/timers 6608 and want to measure the period of a square wave of variable frequency.

I need the period of each rising edge because this same front is used for my external clock analog data acquisition cards.

In this way, I know the time between measures of individual position.

I used the example VI soul ctr.vi hollow low frequency Freq 1 and add the code appropriate to read continuously.

I use a function generator to test the equipment and it seems to work fine until 100 kHz.  After that the 200141: data has been replaced before it could be read - error takes place.

This error takes place at exactly the same number of pulses every time I try running at a given frequency.

I could not find information that would be me index a limit to the frequency of measurement period on this map.

If anyone else has had a similar experience and it is a limitation or is there a setting I'm missing?

    Thank you

    DVS,

Please post on the Forums of NOR. This overflow error memory buffer that you see is because our advice of counters/timers have a buffer FIFO of two samples for counter measures. What you run, however, is the fact that you take action as soon as your computer can DMA transfer these measures out of the buffer. I would suggest trying to use other measures to counter as "two meter - range" to see if that would help you take frequency readings higher.

Our documentation on the FIFO can be found here. I hope that clarifies the question a bit, thanks!

  • Virtual oscilloscope; Setting frequency of data acquisition

Hello world!  I tried to program an oscilloscope using the Labview software and acquisition of data USB-6009.  It will be very soon, but I can't seem to set the rate of acquisition of data at the correct speed.  Let me show you what I mean:

    waveform dt: 0.1

    Frequency: precise

    Limit: 5 Hz

Explanation: "[0.1 dt] is 10 Hz.  Therefore Nyquist function, 5 Hz is the highest frequency that you can enjoy.  Anything more than that will alias down in the 0-5 Hz range. "- Crossrulz

    waveform dt: 0.001

    Frequency: x 100

    Limit: 500 Hz

Explanation:? The frequency seems to be dividing by dt at some point.

I like for this oscilloscope simultaneously read faster than 5 Hz and be precise.  Here's my block diagram if someone would be willing to take a look:

    Create the channel-> read-> buffer / collector-> Trigger-> Append--> measures/graphic

A last word: the dt that I am changing is on an empty wave form which I enclose with my signal to input in the upper left corner.

You run the examples that come with LabVIEW? STOP using the 1 sample DAQmx Read. Right-click on it, and change the type. The other mistake would come if you have changed the similar to the task. Delete this part because you don't use it.

I'm trying to record changes in voltage as low as 0.0003V but using the wizard DAQ, I seem to be limited to a sensitivity of 0.002V.  This is the limit of real sensitivity or have I missed something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi DCAM77,

    Thanks for joining the forums!

The PCI or 6023E has a 12-bit ADC.  In other words, it can make the difference between 4096 (2 ^ 12) different levels within the range of cards.  The card you have has a selectable range by ± 10 V, ± 5 V, ± 500 mV or ±50 mV software.

This means that the minimum detectable variation will be 4 mV, 20 mV, 244 µV or 24, depending on the chosen range µV.

You should be able to use the ± 500 mV or ±50 mV to get the least significant bit (LSB) value, you need, even if it means that your signal is located between these values.  If not, then you need to consider other materials to the application, or the addition of external circuits across the signal.

  • PCI-6251 - Acquisition on hard drive

    Hello

I bought a PCI to acquisition model Multifunction PCI-6251.

How much time Prime Minister of United Nations of in the know I'd like to connect a hard drive directly on this card, and what should be the characteristics of this hard drive in terms of size, speed of rotation and memory cache.

From there, what are the software configurations allowing the acquisition of half a score of analog channels directly on the hard drive? Can we start the recording of the tracks on hard drive from Labview? And how the get?

Finally I would like to know what kind of performance I could you reach in terms of number of "recordable samples and frequency acquisition

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi all

xdaf is correct that you will need a host PC to communicate with the 6251.  The 6251 can acquire analog inputs to 1 MHz multiplexes (for 10 channels that would be 100 kHz per channel), so you will probably not all the problems at these rates simply by using the DAQ Assistant as mentioned xdaf.  That said, I wanted to take some time to more carefully address the following question:

Q: "therefore, what are the software configuration used to acquire a dozen analog channels directly on the hard drive?"

A: DAQmx 9.0 introduced a very cool feature called DAQmx Logging that will allow you to easily optimize your streaming to disk.  You can read more about it in the link provided, but essentially this function allows you to write directly on your hard drive since the DMA buffer without going through the application memory.  Comparing the two methods:

Old method: FIFO edge > buffer DMA > LabVIEW memory > buffer DMA > hard drive

New method: FIFO edge > buffer DMA > hard drive

The new method will use minimum CPU since all transfers are implemented by DMA.  The result is a binary file of PDM (2 bytes per sample on a 16-bit card) which can be read with the viewer PDM or imported in LabVIEW for analysis.  The file header stores the calibration and scaling information.  If you need to integrate this file with other software, the following link contains more information: TDMS integrating third-party programs

You also have the option, if you want to import the data into LabVIEW to look at one/one immediate treatment.

I would probably also add that the benchmark of 1.2 GB, mentioned in the DAQmx logging Article would require a faster bus and configuration of the hard drive.  We used two 2 x 8164 matrices Raid in conjunction with a full chassis SMU cards simultaneously.  The 80 MB/s this mentioned xdaf is on par with some hard disks more quickly and is close to the practical limit of the speed of the PCI bus.  This is information probably just extra, since the data from your card PCI-6251 will be far from this limit.

Even if rates continuously to acquire from a single card PCI-6251 should not be too demanding, I suggest you look into the new DAQmx 9.0 streamline registration of your data, optimize code and functionality for fast disk with minimal use of CPU.  I hope this has been helpful!

    Best regards

    John

PS once DAQmx 9.0 is installed, several examples can be found of LabVIEW under help > find examples... > DAQmx > Analog measures > power > TDMS Streaming... VI

    Hello

I want to acquire a signal from a controller of the machine and save the data in a PDM file. In order to develop this application, I created a simulated task. Everything is going well so far, except the start of data acquisition. I want the application to start recording of the data when the signal passes a specific value and stop it when the signal is lower then the value, is obtaining current data which records data only when it is higher then the set limit.

I already tried to use the DAQmx Trigger Vi but I always get the following error message when I use it.
