HP beats 15 laptop: computer drive HARD failure diagnosis

Hi people,

I'm a little angry, I hope one of you lovely people can help me with some advice. My wife tried using the contact HP online support face today, but did not get a useful answer. The laptop in question has still 2 months warranty on this subject and I would like this issue to be fixed before the expiration of the warranty.

The problem:

A month or two ago my wife said that the laptop occasionally runs slowly or freezes at random times, then started working again without problem. I'm on the laptop, run scans antivirus, temporary files clear and others with CCleaner, uninstall unnecessary programs and then turn off most of the autobooting services and programs with msconfig. Nothing really came from him, but he did and apparently not having problems while I used it.

A week later, more complaints that the laptop was running slower than optimal, with another request to examine it. This time he did freeze while I use it, so I run ladies sfc diagnostics and memory, which came to own. Then it was time to try to run through the optimization of windows to speed it up a little.

Has held a few weeks for me since then, always heard there are problems, but not having is not the opportunity to study.

Last night I finally get around to running the diagnostics of HP at the start and check out the source (I hope!) of the problem. Hard disk check is coming up with an error indicating that the disk is not healthy, technical Department should be contacted directly. I saved the newspapers to a USB port, I'll post the results in the next post.

The solution:

Could I please have some advice on the best way to proceed on this matter now? I'd appreciate any help.

Kind regards

Jason

Hi Jason,

The hard drive is indeed a failure and needs to be replaced - just contact HP and make arrangements for this under warranty.

The section of the report you cite is UBV6LF-7HQ7SB-MFPV6K-60 X 103 because this will confirm the diagnostic failure with software HPs.

If you live in the United Kingdom, contact HP here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

Kind regards

  • Is this another drive hard failure? (2 times in slot a few months)

Hello, I decided to post here before contacting HP about this problem again. As stated in the subject, it is the second time I had problems with my hard drive Compaq Presario CQ56. The first time a month or so earlier, he failed completely, I had to pay about $ 30 to $ 40 just to have the box sent us in a week to send the laptop in for repair. About 1 week later, I got the laptop back, and of course, I started to download lost my programs, antivirus, etc.. It worked perfectly until about an hour before, where even once, it cannot detect the hard drive. When I start the computer, he rarely shows the red screen with compaq Q, then it stays on a black screen for about 1 to 2 minutes, which then results in the Windows Boot Manager comes up saying the following:

    Hello

From what you describe, it is certainly a hard failure so you definitely need to contact HP.  Personally, considering that it is the 2nd HARD disk in less than 2 months, I say it's a bad luck (however unlikely) or there is another issue at stake - it may be useful to suggest this to HP when you contact them.

  • Drive hard failure - where to find recovery discs

I have a HP G60 - 235WM system that comes with having a hard drive failure.

Before the breakup, I tried to create a defined recovery disk but the process

Since then, I've run a system recovery that seemed to work until the second day when on startup, I got the drive imminent failure Prompt and selecting Blons is no not a thing... I bought a new drive, but need to access a set of recovery discs...

Then I bought another laptop with WIN 8.1 - questions

Can I create a set with the 8.1 recovery disk WIN that will allow me to recover the original software Vista system?

or where can I get a Vista system recovery disk?

Note: the failed hard drive can be accessed via the USB port but does not start...

    Hello:

You can call HP and see if they have a set of Vista recovery disks for your model.

If this isn't the case, you can get them from this provider on the link below.

You will not be able to use a set of recovery disks you create on a different model PC.

  • HP Pavilion DV6-3041TX drive HARD failure and possible design Intel series 6 Chipset problem

    Hey guys

I saw corruption serious hdd on my system for some time now and was just move to replace the drive hard when I came across the problem of design of Intel® chipsets. Now, I think that my system is the range of serial number for this question and as the current drive does not start, I can't check the Device Manager to see if the chipset is one of those affected.

Is there anyway for me to check this from a USB bootable or something similar, because I don't want to have to go through the effort to replace the hard drive and reinstall windows just to find the chipset is wrong?

    Thank you

(Now, this is my first post on the forum if I appoilgise if I've got this in the wrong place)

Open the door of the memory on the bottom of the laptop and look under the memory for a number of motherboard.

You should have the Intel HM55 chipset, but we can be sure that if we know the motherboard part number.

You should have one of these two tips:

  • Install XP on a laptop computer without hard disk

I have some difficulty installing XP on my portege 2010 that have now Linux installed. I have an external USB - dvd - disk, however, the BIOS does not boot USB. I don't want to buy a usb floppy drive or pcmcia reader. So it seems to me the solutions left installation via the net (pxe boot), which is almost impossible in Windows and to initiate a drive hard pcmcia. The latter seems interesting, however, it is difficult to find information on this. Someone at - it starts all experience in this way? Or am I missing some easier way? Any help appreciated.

    Marcus

    Hi Marcus,

try pressing F12 or ESC at startup to enter the boot menu, and then select USB. If this does not work, change the boot priority in the BIOS. IF she's not even boot from the CD, check the Linux DVD player.

    Good bye

  • drive hard failure after 2 years of use, is this normal for a 1.6-inch toshiba 80 GB drive

is the lifetime of a drive hard toshiba mini car shorts... and how to get data back now that the player is without a normal connection only a flat cable...

In fact, that would be my next suggestion. If you're technical enough, you can use a Linux, or in your case, USB key bootable CD. I have had several instances where do this on a disk failed HARD still allows me to remove some data. Not everything, but it's worth a shot-to-shot, sure! And even if it doesn't work, you still have the USB key to use.

  • do not do a test drive as my computer disk hard failure test reports

Compaq presario cq56, windows 7. hard drive not found

    Hello

The most likely cause is that the hard is defective and must be replaced.

As another test, try the following.

    1. create a bootable Ubuntu CD - a guide on the creation of a CD of Ubuntu and download can be found here.

    2. when it is created, follow the guide on the link below to Try Ubuntu.

    http://www.Ubuntu.com/download/help/try-Ubuntu-before-you-install

The option "try Ubuntu" runs the operating system from the CD without having to install on your HARD drive.  If it works Ok (it will be slow running on a CD), this would tend to confirm that the problem is only with the HARD drive.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, please let me know - include the full model number and your series cq56 notebook Nr - see here for an explanation.

  • Satellite A660 - will not start initialize drive HARD failure

    Hello
first of all thank you for your time.

    Model: Satellite A660 (PSAW3A-07U00R)

The problem started yesterday, the computer has been going slowly as a closed application, so I held the off button until the pc is turned off. When I restarded the laptop, it went to a screen saying: start windows normally or repair Windows (recommended)

When started normally it hangs just a blank screen, repair Windows recommends a system restore to a previous point that did not work. As it crashes again. I tried pressing F8 and boot in safe mode, but even once it just hangs. Then, after having repeatedly tried safe mode and another system restore the computer then hangs when I press F8. After that, the computer passes in front of the Toshiba logo with F2 and F12 options screen (which still works) and then it rises the initialization has failed then shuts off and comes with start-up bootfailed failed with a few numbers and letters, then it goes to a small box entitled menu starting with 4 options. These are some
    Toshiba MK6465GSX HDD/SSD
    CD/DVD MAST * UJ141ES ABD - CMB
    FLOPPY DRIVE
    LAN

If I press ESC, it passes through the loop of bootfailed and ends at the same screen, if I press on enter "HDD/SSD Toshiba MK6465GSX" then he quickly returned to the screen and at the bottom it says [HDD/SSD Toshiba MK6465GSX] failed.

I do not understand why it has gotten worse over time. Can anyone think why it occurred and more importantly, how can I get my pc working again? Note: held 0 then start does nothing for me atm

    Best regards, Matthew

    Hello Matthew,.

To be honest, I agree with Akuma and it could be related to a dysfunction of HDD the error you described, but ensure 100% there s no software problem, you should try the Toshiba Recovery disk Windows installation. Something may be confused until the Windows installation and recovery of files on the HARD drive, so it cannot be started. Recovery disc will resolve this problem by formatting the HARD drive and restoring the settings box.

If it still doesn t it work s hardware malfunction but an authorized service provider can solve these problems under warranty for free. So just contact the guy and ask for help. ;)

If you have other questions or already solved the problem, please let us know!

  • Could not start, laptop computer, disk hard short DTS test failed

I am currently not able to start my laptop properly. I have a HP Pavillion G6.

When I start it, it stays on the screen with the HP logo and a black background for awhile and eventually get to a black screen with the cursor visible and mobile, but unable to do anything else.

I tried to press F11 at startup to restore the factory settings, the system recognizes the key but leads straight to a black screen that I left it for several hours, but nothing happens.

I have gone on the menu of system diagnostics and run a quick test that revealed the Hard Drive DST short, Check failed.

Will I need a new hard drive? Or is it possible to fix it?

If I need a new, where can I get one from?

    Thanks for any help

    Hello

The short drive Self Test (DST) failure would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.  This is also consistent with recovery and startup problems you describe.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

  • Drive hard failure ID: 936JJ3-54W75L-XD003G-60VX03

My system: HP Pavilion dv6-3040us; Product ID: WQ676UA #ABA; System ID: 143F; BIOS: F.29 25/02/2013

Hard Drive failure ID: 936JJ3-54W75L-XD003G-60VX03 during the short test HDD.

I was not able to find an explanation for the fault code referenced hard drive I get who runs the HARD drive test.  This code is blown on several occasions during the short test HDD and it does not in the long run test but stops with this error.  So, I guess that the drive should be replaced because a CHKDSK command-line with the set of "fix" has not solved the problem.

My question is if I can replace the HHD with a 500 GB SSD on this motherboard?  If Yes, what steps do I take to replace the disk and recover my system and information?  I looked through the pages of BIOS and does not see a place to set the HARD drive configuration, so I wonder if the system will accept a SSD drive.  Thank you for your help.

Yes it's a wide 7 or 9.5 mm thickness of 2.5 inches SSD is a plug-in replacement for the standard hard drive. The motherboard only supports SATA-II speed drives but SSD SATA-III will be backward compatible. The settings of the BIOS already fully support an SSD and Windows 7 and 8 run automatically TRIM to optimize the transfer of data to the SSD. It is really very simple, but you still see a lot of advice floating around days earlier, when he was more difficult. Don't overthink is my best advice. I suggest an Evo to Samsung 840:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16820147248

YouTube video for the replacement of the hard disk:

    http://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=QQx7PlIXFuE

Not quite precisely your model but close enough to be useful.

You did the recovery HP DVD when the laptop was new? With a failure on the short trial, it is not likely that the drive can be cloned to the SSD DH, but with a usb to SATA Adapter, you can recover some data.

We can connect you to a .iso (disk image) of Windows 7 to your laptop and you can use the drivers from this site. If you can get the C:\swsetup file on the old disk, it has all the drivers and original programs.

  • Desktop computer drive HARD problems, won't load after the splash screen only in black

Hi, I hope someone here can help me. I have HP Pavilion dv2000 laptop I had for nearly 4 years. These last 4-6 months I get questions such as getting the BSOD (usually unmountable_boot_volume) and excessive delay/hanging while working. I was able to fix these with chkdsk and sfc since no virus was detected. But I couldn't make the successful restore points as they always disappear.

But last night I forced him to close due to the hanging again and rebooted, it upward to get "a disk read error has occurred. Press ctrl + alt + del to restart"only to receive the same message again. Not far enough, he won't do a chkdsk or sfc. So I went to use my bootable usb key with a recovery console to run chkdsk, startup repair and sfc. He managed to get through the bios and was able to connect to my computer, but it would not load the office. It's just a black screen with my cursor. Going even in safe mode it will appoint the task bar, but soon, to get an error "windows Explorer has stopped working".

I don't know what to do anymore. It would be great if I can just get into my HARD drive one last time. I've saved most of my files knowing he would die on me, except a few files and just need to run once more to save them. Would appreciate any help, please!
