HP compaq 6730 s: windows 10 in my 7 year old HP Compaq 6730 s - should I try it?
Hello
I have an old (but surprisingly good job!) 64-bit processor HP Compaq 6730 s, implemented to date with an SSD and 8 GB of ram DDR2 memory. Currently it is dual-boot Windows 7 Home premium, 64-bit edition, pretty well - he gave no problems up to now and Ubuntu 14.04. I'm quite tempted to upgrade to windows 10, but because it's a pretty old computer, I'm not sure of the weather, the material will be fully compatible with w10... and also I don't want to lose my partitions!
So, what do you recommend me... should I go for it?
Thank you very much for your help and for creating amazing machines like the 6730 s!
Gonzalo
Hello:
I have the elitebook 6930p who basically has the same hardware as your model.
W10 works fine on mine, but I don't have a webcam, nor do I use the fingerprint reader or protect software security tools, so I can't confirm that those who work on W10.
You should be able to recover to W7 very easily if you do not delete the windows.old folder.
To return, go to settings > update and secuity >

How will I know if I have the wifi on my windows XP 32 PC that is about 7 years old?
I just got a huawei Orange, which I connected to my fairly new laptop - my PC is about 7 years old, how can I check it I can get wifi on my PC - it's a Windows XP 32?
WiFi requires a particular piece of hardware (wireless network adapter). Assuming that you no longer have the documentation that came with your PC for 7 years, the first thing to do is to open the Device Manager (start > run > devmgmt.msc > OK), click on the + sign to the left of "Network adapters" and to see what devices are listed.
If the function of a network card is not immediately obvious from its name, Google it. If you have only one network card (more, perhaps, something with "1394" in its name), chances are that you don't have a wireless network card.
If you do not have a wireless network card, you can buy a. Desktop/Tower Computer PC can use a device internal (PCI wireless network adapter), connected by USB models are widely available today. I suggest you get one with a 'real' antenna, rather one that resembles a drive USB flash (or worse, a "micro" USB flash drive). Links are examples only, not recommendations.

Original title: update windows
I am regularly offered 'old' updates for installation, for example, KB2487367 published 05/08/2011. Is it possible to copy my Windows Update history file to an Excel file? I could then sort by number of update and avoid download/installation of the old updates. Or better yet, is there a historic Windows Update file that is already sorted by number of update?
Yes, it was installed successfully (according to the history of the update). No indication that it was available on resetting for several days. I went through my entire history of update to see if/when it has been previously installed. It is not a major concern for download and install. Am I better turn off just the download of 'important' updates offered by Microsoft? He done wrong to "re-download"?
If you install, you may need it. You only * need * to install critical / security updates really.
If the update installs correctly and not is not offered on several occasions "burst" - there is no harm in just letting Windows Update just "doing his thing"... -
Adobe Acrobat is NOT COMPATIBLE with Windows Vista... it blocks any browser or operating system when I try to download or open any file PDF... y at - it a patch?
When I try to open a PDF file in IE 7 or Firefox 3.6, or just on the desktop, I get a sign that says:
"Program Compatibility Wizard".
"This program has known compatibility issues - check online if the solutions are available on the Microsoft Web site. If we find solutions, Windows automatically displays a Web site that lists the steps, you can take. »
"Program: . Acrobat Reader 7. Editor: "Adobe,location: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe.
"Acrobat Reader 7 has a compatibility issue with this version of Windows. For an update compatible with this version of windows, contact Adobe. »
"Search for solutions online - Run program - Cancel . "
If I click on one of the 3 buttons listed above, the browser, it blocks or breaks down the entire operating system.
Does anyone know of a patch for this... Adobe, what I find, has updated for Acrobat Reader, but they don't say if this is a patch for this problem of Vista incompatibility.
I searched on the basis of knowledge of Microsoft and this forum and I can't find anything definitive on this question.
I can not even download a PDF file, and still less open and looking at its content.
Known fixes?
Thank you

I HAVE WINDOWS VISTA. WHEN I TYPE THE TEXT ON THE E-MAILS AND TRY AGAIN AND HIGHLIGHT THE TEXT DISAPPEARS FROM IT. I'VE BEEN ADVISED THAT PERHAPS THE COLOR IS WHITE (I THINK THAT OUR GIRL CAN ACCIDENTALLY CHANGED SOMETHING SINCE IT IS A NEW PROBLEM)
I DON'T KNOW HOW TO CHANGE THE COLOR. PLEASE CAN YOU HELP. Thank you.original title: TEXT DISAPPEARS WHEN I TRY TO highlight THE TEXTYou can open Notepad and type something. Press the Insert key, and then try to go back and change what you type and you will see the difference between insert and Overtype.
I can't help with Firefox, but in IE, you can change the colours via Tools | Internet Options | The colors. I think Firefox has a similar option, but you need to ask in a forum of Firefox to see the option. As it happens in the browser, then it is clearly a browser problem and not a problem in Windows mail.
