HP CQ60-4098SA: problem starting with the new SSD on CQ60-409SA

I just replaced my HARD drive with a new 120 GB SSD 11 Extreme Sandisk.

Everything went well without any problem install Win 7 Ultimate and a lot more quick search time, etc...

The problem that I have, is that when I start the laptop from the cold, IE turn it on to use, the SSD is not recognized and I just get a black screen with the top left corner flashing cursor, but if I press on Ctrl-Alt-Del, the system restarts and boots then in windows without problem.

I'm trying to know if I can access Advanced BIOS Options, if I press F10 when booting I get only Options like to change boot order and not more advanced to change the training settings, etc. and F2 does not Diagnostics for the SDS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated I'm very satisfied with the performance increase that disk SSD gives Windows and start itme except for having to start twice.

Best regards

Hi Erico,

The SSD was visible on the Windows installation disc, but after I installed the AHCI drivers during the option to load drivers installation succeeded and starts as it should.

Kind regards

Mike

  • My dv7-2180us ceased to start with the new SSD (work)

    Hi people,

Just got THE Vertex 100 GB SSD last night, installed on my Pavilion DV7 laptop and went to the city. Installed Windows 7, flashed the bios to 0.41, installed the chipset, storage and display of HP drivers, installed office, installation of visual studio, patched and patched and patched again. All in all, it was three hours and 10-15 restarts with nary a problem. The _only_ glitch I met was at the very beginning, when the installer of Windows 7 stuck during the "expansion of the files. I just clicked on 'back', re-picked the scores he has already made and further success.

I turned off the machine last night and this morning it would not start. He would just stroll downtown. I tried pulling memory and disk, he beat POST, second addition of add-on, player still worked, added, crash. Replaced the SSD drive with my drive OEM, fine boots.

I thought the drive was toast, but put in a USB enclosure to make sure. It works perfectly.

Any suggestions? Seems to be a potential problem between HP, maybe the new bios (?) and the reader, but I can't understand why he spent so long after it flashes without problem.  Could I go back to an older version of flash?

    Thank you!

It would not be a bad idea to head over to ocztechnologyforums.com to check that you have the latest firmware recommended on the SSD. I followed the guide for my SSD Vertex and have had zero problems with my installation of Windows 7.

You should be able Flash the BIOS of your laptop computer to the previous version.

  • C870-19(r) satellite does not start with the new SSD

    Hello

I will update the Toshiba Satellite C870 19(r) with a Pro 840 Samsung SSD, but it does not start.

    He said: not found system.

    Post edited by: joch333n

None found system means that there is no system installed on the SSD drive...

    What you trying to do?
You start from a disk in order to install the new system?

In this case, you should disable startup secure in the BIOS.
I also recommend moving from UEFI mode MSC!

  • Windows 7 does not start with the new msi motherboard

Yesterday, I bought a new motherboard, processor and 8g of ram in my computer. After all what adjustment and replacement of my old motherboard with the new, I started my computer to find that Windows 7 unbootable not. Instead of windows 7, I get the screen click on BIOS II (2). The configuration screen allows me to launch Winki but not Windows 7 because it was not found. The motherboard came with a utility disk drivers msi and AMD chipset which, when inserted in my hard disk, loads up to Winki. This version of windows 7 (Home Premium 64-bit) came pre-installed with my old mother/computer(Thus, I do not have the windows 7 installation disk) card. Is there a way I need to activate Windows 7 on my new motherboard?

    Hello

Well, you have some problems. First of all, with a new motherboard you need a new copy of Windows - not only the DVD, but a whole new product key must be purchased. It's just the terms of the license: a new motherboard is equivalent to a new computer, and each computer must have its own copy of Windows.

So where you buy your copy of Windows 7, I would make sure that it came with a DVD image. Otherwise, you can tell us which version of Windows 7 you (will) actually buy, and we can send you a link to the copy of the DVD for this version of Windows 7.

To purchase a copy of Windows 7 you can check Newegg.com, here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=windows+7&N=-1&isNodeId=1 .

I hope that answers your question.

I am currently trying to install a new HARD drive in my notebook of 1800-712.

I upgraded my BIOS to the latest version.
The new HARD drive is a 40 GB Samsung.

Any suggestions on what I need to do to make it all works?

    THX, Philippe

    Hello

This device was shipped with 20 GB HARD drive.
    You again is 40 GB.
I guess that the BIOS does not recognize the HARD drive because of the size.

    Hi guys!

I have a problem starting on my new laptop that runs 10 64-bit windows.

I tried to reinstall windows and my first boot options is the HARD drive so why my laptop still shows me this screen? If I am connected to the internet, the process takes more time before entering the screen windows... is there a fix for this?

    Thank you!

    Hello

Go to the Bios and disable start-up networ.

Take windows as first boot device boot manager. If it isn't there, you should do a propper EFI install.

  • Satellite L30 10Y does not start with the new RAM modules

    Hello
regged just with this forum I have a problem to upgrade memory.

I read through a few problems of memory here and all users that it is a problem of memory comaptible. I got Hynix 512 MB RAM in my laptop and I bought 2 x 1 GB memory Hynix these two are match sticks to the installed memory, but when I installed my laptop wouldn't boot at all. It would only boot if I had a stick in both.

I tried to switch ports top and btm and even when a stick was installed it says in XP, Vista and Windows 7 (yes I tried all systems) 896 MB of available space. I even tried to use my other Hynix stick, but he won't start and showed more stick of 1 GB (896 MB usable in Windows 7). After reading all the threads I wonder if it is a hardware failure or is there a fix in the world of Toshiba or perhaps in the world of Toshiba, the L series is almost obsolete and not worth to help people who unwittingly bought their goods.

I apologize for being slightly down on Toshiba but a laptop that shows what he can work and is not a company should hold his hand up and say that Yes, there is a fault and help deal with the problem.

You see 896 MB, because the rest is reserved for VRAM for graphics card.

Sometimes RAM may simply be incompatible, because of incompatibilities of calendar or RAM chip/controller design differences.

Installed a Zotac GT 740 profile down in my desktop PC graphics card HP Pavilion p6 - 2120t and now the PC does not start.

    Configuration:

Intel HD Graphics Driver version Family: 8.15.10.2291 dated 27/01/2011
Motherboard: IPISB-CU (Carmel2) (1 open PCI Express 16 expansion slot pins)

    BIOS to Version 7.18

    Running:
    Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit w/service pack 1
Two monitors (VGA, 1 digital port 1)

Before installing the new graphics card, I replaced the power supply original 300w with a 400w power supply.

For starters, I disabled the onboard graphics in Device Manager. Then, I opened the case and installed the GT-740 in the open PCI Express slot. I made sure that the card was fully engaged in the slot.

I plugged both monitors to their connections voted on the new map.

When I tried to boot the PC, the digital monitor displays the screen HP (the one that indicates which key support to achieve the start menu) and then frozen. No other entries of key or mouse have been accepted.

The PC then sounds 4 short beeps (about 10 seconds between each beep) and then a long beep before turning off the signal to the screen.

Then, I removed the new graphics card on the PC that starts then. I have reactivated the original graphics drivers and the PC then worked normally.

Tried the above process two more times with the same results.

I then went into the start menu to look at the BIOS. The menu of the BIOS shows two options:

    > Sources of boot UEFI

    Windows Boot Manager

    > Sources of boot legacy

    ATAP I CD/DVD player

    SATA2

    Hard drive

    SATA0

Network controller (Realtek PXE B06 D00)

PC using UEFI Boot Manager Windows boots normally

I have not tried Legacy Boot Sources because I don't know which one to choose.

I went to the HP site and looked for an update to the newest BIOS, but updating them is a rev version 7.16 while my PC shows my BIOS to version 7.18

I know that others have had a similar problem but I have not seen a solution that works for my PC.

    Any advice would be welcome.
    Thanks for your time.

    Hello

Your PC isn't spec'd to run Windows 7 using the Windows Boot Manager.  I expect to a UEFI-based graphics card likely to work on an HP PC that does not have a BIOS version 8.

The below listed OEM HP, graphics cards should work in your PC using a normal non - UEFI W7 and W8 installation.

  • SMU 8108 does not start with the new hard drive

    Hello

    I am currently using SMU 8108 with SMU-1062 q.

The previous record was borken, so I had to install a new hard drive.

The new hard drive is fommatted as NTFS format, and it is currently mounted on 8108.

Unfortunately, I don't have recovery disk available to the general public so I am trying to install Windows 7 on a blank hard drive.

When you start, the LED OK PWK light is all the time, orange DRIVE LED turns on for a few seconds only when I turn on the switch.

LabVIEW RT switches are all off, I cleared CMOS several times to the Board of Directors, but the screen does not show anything.

I tried to use my DVI monitor with any other device as well, and it worked, so there is no problem with the monitor.

In addition, I tried to go in window safe mode by pressing F8 or Del it didn't work, so I can't see anything on the screen when his kick upward.

I tried to put a lot of information I can it will be very appreciated if you can help me with this problem please.

You said that you can't in Windows safe mode, you have installed Windows on the hard drive?  Are you able to get into the BIOS of the controller?

If you are not able to access the BIOS for the controller, it may be due to bad RAM.  If you are uncomfortable installing RAM and you have a few extra laptop RAM of the same type (I think it's the DDR3 for your controller) laying around, you can try to replace the RAM.

Was your hard drive damaged through certain events, or it just stop working?

  • Does not start with the new graphics card

Hello. I have a P7-1058uk Pavilion Cleveland-GL8 motherboard with integrated graphics.

I bought a new monitor that has resolution 2560 x 1440, equal the integrated graphics card can face if tried to to level with a Gigabyte GT630 card.

When I start, I have now the chance to the blue HP screen but not more details. If I start with F10 or ESC key, I get a black screen instead. Whatever it is, I am asked to press ESC to enter in the start, but by pressing on the button has no effect and the computer just hangs. There is a cycle repeated very quiet click that sounds like the disk drive HARD trying to start then stop

If I remove the graphics card and connect the monitor to the integrated graphics card then all's well again (but limited to the resolution 1920 x 1080).

Perhaps foolishly, I assumed it was a problem with the residual power (300W) and not enough punch power to run the HARD drive. But who, after having upgraded to 650W it makes no difference. I also tried to download the NVidia drivers but it won't let me install because I can't get the computer to work without the graphics card and Nvidia install it because it cannot detect the hardware.

    Any ideas/help would be appreciated.

    Andrew

You can have one of these motherboards that are not happy with NVIDIA graphics cards.

This may sound a little weird, but it happens.

The other possibility is that you have damaged your home x - 16 PCI Express by installing a map requiring more that the installed power supply has been able to provide.

  • HP DV6 3103 sl-do not start with the new RAM

    Hello

    I have a Hp Pavilion DV6 3103sl with a dual boot W7 - W7,

I don't want to update the 8 GB RAM, and here's the problem:

I tried to add a new Corsair 4 GB of RAM for 4 GB samsung which is already there, it did not work.

so I thought that there was a problem of compatibility RAM of coupling of different brands and

I tried to use the Corsair only: it didn't work again.

Long story short, I tried two different 4 Go Corsair-1 Kingston 4 GB 1333 Mhz 10600

I tried alone without the RAM samsung and all three do not work with the laptop.

He continues to start again OR it gives a BSOD

What should I do? It is impossible that all the 3 banks of RAM I tried are defective...

    Thanks for your help

To properly upgrade the memory in your laptop or desktop PC, it is recommended that a pair identical memory compatible modules guaranteed of a well known brand is used to place the original single module. Remove the original module.

Ability to mix, brand, speed module... essentially of the differences in the module is usually held in one upgrade failed.

Samsung module memory + module Corsir = memory upgrade memory failed.  Kingston 1333 Mhz + module Corsair 1066 + upgrade module memory has failed...  These failures are expected.

  • Embedded audio player doesn't work with Firefox in a laptop computer, but works fine on a PC. How can I fix? It started with the new design of Firefox.

This problem apparently only occurs with the audio player built into http://www.theskepticsguide.org/ . I tried other embedded audio players from other websites and they work fine. In the Firefox installed in my laptop, no matter what I do it does not play the SGU podcast. When I try to click on the download option it says "Video cannot be read because the file is corrupted. However, I can play and download the podcast without any problem with Firefox installed in my PC, which is the exact same version that is in my laptop, so I don't really know what could be the cause.

I remember that this was not the case before the new design of Firefox. I tried the solutions proposed on this problem before asking this question. I checked that the plugins are up-to-date. I removed all the addons and plugins, and this did not help either. Firefox reset with no luck. Also tried a fresh install of Firefox and it didn't work. I used the laptop without synchronization first, and then synchronize with no difference. Flash is up to date and there is no apparent problems there.

Maybe it's a codec missing or damaged? I wouldn't trust codecs from sources other than Microsoft for this purpose, since Firefox tries to use Windows to read the file.

If you decide to give up and around the native player for a plugin, these changes of settings usually work for this:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the filter box, type or paste media and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) [except XP], double-click on media.windows - media - foundation.enabled to change its value from true to false.

    (4) double click on media.directshow.enabled to change its value from true to false.

    Hi guys

My laptop is a few years and two months back, the battery has just stopped charging (death), but because of the work schedule, I didn't get time to replace.

In any case, I was working on a report and took a 20-minute break and when I came back the laptop was turned off by itself and that a single led white light for the AC adapter was.

When I pressed the power button the camera and light led light power which ends of the AC adapter / light turned on and at the end a dry stop the laptop with the power and the orange light battery light on. Orange light battery led was off after 6-8 sec.

I tried again and again and the same thing is happening

Can someone please tell me what is the problem that I really need to finish this report and I am lost.

Thank you in advance for all your backup stream.

Try resetting your laptop. Unplug the power plug, remove the battery and press the power button for 20 seconds. After leaving it for a while, only connect the power supply and try to start your laptop.

What happens when you do this?

    I have a Satellite C870D - 11 X 8.1 Windows running.

The laptop was running progressively slower, but now when I start it sticks on the screen "Toshiba Leading Innovation". Finally, he moves to a blue screen saying that your computer needs repair "a required device cannot be accessed 0000185 0xc error code. I tried a reset by pressing '0' at the beginning, to the top and I see the process of disk recovery hard screen and press enter for Yes and I get the "Toshiba Leading innovation" screen with please wait. After the circular points are displayed for a few moments, then the screen becomes white.

Unfortunately, I don't have a recovery disk to try this option. I'm looking at a hard drive failure? I hear a feint clicking of the HD as if hunting for something.

If I buy a disc is it likely that I will be able to reinstall using this media?
Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

At first, I must say that you have made a mistake after that you bought your laptop you didn t create disk recovery or the so-called recovery media with the original version of Windows 8 that you got with your machine.
I really do not understand why so many people make this mistake and do not create bootable recovery media installation backup image recovery.

In any case, on this path virtual that is not easy to say what the problem is here and, in my opinion, the better you can do is to back up all your important data and install original recovery image. After doing this, you can test the functionality with the factory settings.

A few days ago, I found interesting options paper of recovery limited after update to Win8.1 - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB4403L30001R01.htm
You should try to install the HARD drive recovery original anyway. How is it that you can read on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2A03ES0000R01.htm or http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R02.htm (Win8/8.1).
Order recovery media can be your last step.

Clicking noise could be sign of drive HARD doesn't work well anymore. Is the warranty for your machine still valid?

  • C55-A-1MW satellite does not start with the new RAM inserted

    Hey.

I hope to find someone who can help me... I bought ram memories and tried 4 different memories in my C55 A 1MW Satellite. But each card RAM I have insert makes the computer cannot start... It lights just to stop again.

Is there a compatibility issue or anything like that? I used 2 different aData Ram extensions cars, 1 1 and 4 GB 2 GB. the 4 GB card was 1333 mhz and was 2 GB 1600 mhz card. and I tried 2 corsair 4 GB 1600 mhz different cards.

Is this something that makes only able to expand RAM with Toshibas own memories or is the second cardslot for broken RAM memory?

As I see you use RAM modules with different specifications. Your problem is certainly of RAM compatibility and you must use the RAM modules with the same specifications.
According to specification of laptop there are 4 slots of memory and laptop can handle up to 32 GB of RAM.

    The compatible RAM modules are:
    4 GB DDR3L-1600-PA5104U-1M4G
    8 GB DDR3L-1600-PA5104U-1M8G

Of course, you can use modules from other manufacturers, but please do not use some cheap products. I can recommend the use of Kingston memory modules.
