  • All-in-one Deskjet 2540: reset password WiFi live with security enabled

Good then everything was going well and everything until I one day decided to enable security of the printer and change direct wifi password. It was fine, because I instatly reconnected with the new password and never had to kick it manually again. then recently I accidentally forgot the wifi network and was invited for the password when you try to connect again. I don't remember. I tried everything:

    1. I have maintained the direct wireless button for 3 seconds until what it printed on the instruction sheet but no password was on it because of the security settings. To change it, I need access to SAP, which I can't because I can't connect to the network.

    2. I tried to reset the default network printer by pressing the wireless button and a button cancel for 5 seconds, it went through the motions and at the end of this, I tried step 1 again, still without password.

    3. I even printed the Network Configuration Page by pressing the black copy button and wireless at the same time hoping to find it somewhere a password... nothing.

I'm confused and I need it solved very quickly. any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Unfortunately no password yet. I have it connected to the router home as a last resort. Well, your security is really good, but I must add, factory reset should be an option in some way, it's unbearable.

Then I finally found the solution, I downloaded the desktop software, because I lost the CD. Connected the printer to the home network, after a couple of tries, launched the desktop software and clicked on the EWS option. Phew! Finally, I'm here and safe to say, I will never allow new security (not something you want to your customers say huh?) Can you blame me?

  • HP Deskjet 2540: Enlarge/reduce the size of the document during scanning.

Is it possible to enlarge/reduce size of document on the Deskjet 2540? My wife uses this function to its sewing patterns. If not able, could someone please recommend software?

    Thank you

    Tom

    Hello

No function zoom, you 100% het (size) of the original when scan. No need to buy a software, you can use Windows Paint to increase/decrease the file scanned.

    Kind regards.

  • DeskJet 2540 all in a series: connection to the laptop using WiFi.

Hello @Mike90, thanks for the reply!

    First of all, here are some Windows 10 resources for you to review;

    Mike90 wrote:

Don't think it's my AntiVirus because I run the same on my old desk.

Security software installed on your computer is designed to protect your computer against threats, but sometimes can block communication between devices and can cause problems when using your printer or install the software.

A quick troubleshooting technique is to disable your firewall/antivirus and see if the problem goes away. Remember to re-enable your security later.

You can see the category 'firewall and software provider specific security information' of this site; Security and firewall information if you would like more information on your security software.

When you have downloaded the software fact all-in-one HP Deskjet 2540 Printer series full feature software and drivers - download version 10 of Windows?

    I would try this;

    1. Unplug your USB cable.
    2. Click on the Start Menu, find and open devices and printers.
    3. Right-click on any printer that refers to this model, then click on remove device (so delete all HP Deskjet 2540 s in here)
    4. Then repeat installation, unplugged the USB cable and see if the installation detects the printer already on your network.

Please let me know if any of these steps has resolved your problem, or if there is anything else I can do to help.

I look forward to hear from you!

    Thank you

  • HP Deskjet 2540 all-in-one: printer stopped connecting to the wifi network

Hi, my printer has suddenly stopped detecting my wireless network. When I turn on the printer, wireless blue light continues to blink and there is an exclamation point on the screen of the printer. I still have the same wifi network as before and have not changed it or its parameters. I have not physically moved the printer and the wireless works fine for all computers, iPads, and phones.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall the HP Utility Set Up software but it couldn't detect the printer to set up.  I also tried running the diagnostic results, but all the results, said 'Not work', 'Not applicable' or 'None'. I can't even an IP address for my printer.

My laptop can detect the printer if I turn on the wireless Direct button and I connect to this network on my laptop, but that's all. I'd rather connect the printer to the wifi so I can print from all my devices (phone, iPad etc.). The printer is less than 6 months and I do not understand what is the problem with him. Can you please specify?

    Hey @Sue1990,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! I hope you enjoy your stay here.

I understand that the all-in-one printer Deskjet 2540 does not connect to your wireless network. I can help you with that.

To connect the printer to your network again you will need to run the USB cable from the printer to your computer Mac OS x 10.7. This makes the open Applications, Hewlett-Packard and inside this folder you will find a program with a similar name to the installation wizard. If you run this program, then you will find options to connect your printer to your wireless network.

Please let me know how it works for you and let me know if you have any questions.

    Have a wonderful evening!

  • HP DeskJet 2546B: Deskjet 2540 stops in the middle of the print page

I was not able to connect my computer to my pc via wifi a colledge, so I connect my printer via the usb port on my pc (I use the white cable provided with the printer that connects to the back of it). Impression of normal word documents is very well, but I have been tring to print several pages of a pdf file and it stops a few lines of print. No error message, no warning sounds, just stops. The power light flashes too.

The cord is still plugged, it says in my devices on my pc that is always connected, and I can see the print job in my what. I can delete from my without any problem and it will spit the rest of th page. If I leave without doing anything, he will spit the pages finally after one minute. It will always work in Quebec of the printer, but it won't do anything with it.

And I can't seem to convert the content of the pdf in word format to work around the problem.

What can I do to fix this?

    Hi @Roket107,

Thanks for joining the Forums of HP Support for a solution to your printing problem.

I understand that you are using a HP Deskjet 2540 all-in-One printer with a Windows 10 computer and when you try to print from a PDF file the print job stops printing without any error messages, but seem to print correctly from MS Word. I would like to help.

I would start by checking the printer software installed by downloading and running the tool HP Print and Scan Doctor. This tool can diagnose and solve many problems of printing software and printer.

It could also help to ensure that the updates of Windows are updated.

If HP Printy and the Scan doctor does detect no problem with printing software, perhaps that the software used to view and print PDFs must be updated, or uninstalled, then reinstalled.

Please let me know if that solves the problem, or if you need assistance.

Indeed, if this help you to achieve a solution please click the 'accept as Solution' and the 'thumbs up' buttons down below in this message.

    Thank you!

  • HP Deskjet 2540: My printer cannot connect to the wireless network (SSID is not found)

    Hello

I have a HP Deskjet 2540 printer that is configured to print using the USB cable, and I have no problem printing through it. I just bought a router (D-link DWR116) and I'm trying to set up the connection to the router wireless to my printer. When I use the printer setup & software and select the option "convert a connected USB printer wireless", I can choose to enter into the setting of the printer access the router automatically or manually. These two will come with the same problem where the program is my name SSID of the router successfully but then failed to connect to what the SSID is not found.

It comes on it comes up with the error message:

Question: You have manually entered the name of the network (SSID) cannot be found.
Solution: Check that your wireless router is powered. When to manually enter the name of your network (SSID), make sure you enter exactly including upper and lower case and spaces.
    ============================================================================================

Which is meaningless because it came with the SSID earlier and I chose what options the wireless network available. I tried to manually enter the SSID, but after entering the password for the router, the same error message appears.

    Help, please.

    Thank you

In fact, I solved the problem. Something about the wifi light on the printer. It can not be flashing, I don't know what the blue light flashes on the wofo of the printer, but I don't think that it means that the wifi is on.

  • DeskJet 2540: cannot convert mac wireless usb printer

    Hello

I'm having a problem setting my printer all-in-one Deskjet 2540 on my macbook (osx El Capitan). After basic implementation through usb connection, I was able to connect my printer to my router, which makes possible wireless printing. I was then able to print wireless from my phone using remote control all-in-one app.

However, I now want my macbook to establish a wireless connection to the printer instead of the usb connection that is used for configuration. I can't find the option to convert a usb printer to a printer that is connected to the wifi. When disconnecting from usb, laptop computer notes the connection with the printer is lost. To install my printer, I use the HP Utility software, in which I can't find such an option. Also, when passing through Apple-> system-> printers and scanners preferences I can't find an option "convert to wireless. I also read a method via Finder-> applications-> HP and then an icon for installing the software & should be there? In my case, there is only the HP Utility icon which directs me to the same program in which I could not find the option.

What I was looking for, and where can I find it?

Might be a little exaggerated description, but I hope that this makes it extremely clear...

    Hi @JACE1,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that your HP Deskjet 2540 guard wrong wireless network connection. I'm happy to look into this problem of connectivity for you!

On the wireless test report, must be an IP address from the printer. Try putting the IP address in a web browser, such as: Safari or Firefox, etc. You should see a built-in Web server. Find the network tab and then select it. Then, look for the wireless configuration wizard option. (This should be able to search for the network wireless appropriate for you).

See page 55 of the User Guidefor more details your printer.

Hope this solves your problem and have a nice day!

  • HP Deskjet 2540 - run with XP Service Pack 2 (2 machines, one other 512Ram 2048 RAM)

Hi, I wonder if someone could give me some advice

Try to get a new an all-in-printer for my elderly father who has 2 machines, a desktop computer with XP SP2 and 512Ram and a laptop, I gave him with XP SP2 and 2048 RAM

He has no internet access if they're independent, but he needs a new printer and the Deskjet 2540 seems to tick all the boxes for him, BUT everything I've seen suggests there XP SP3 as the minimum.

If the 2540 do not, is that someone could suggest an alternative similar basic spec machine that would work for systems that there

    Thanks a lot S

If we had a go at the download for use on the laptop - there were a few problems, but in the end, we managed to get this working

It's questions and that's how we overcame the

1 no internet connection on the machine, downloaded the link on a stick of a connected machine, copied on the laptop and I tried to extract and run. Excerpts, but would not go beyond Set - up. Tried several times, even issue and tried to connect to microsoft.net framework, saying that they had the 3.5 version to continue. (only version 2 on XP laptop)

2 used in m/c to load the .net framework 3.5 on memory stick, transfer it to laptop and run, but still kept trying to connect to the internet to run it out of there.

3 so focused in trying to establish an internet connection and wifi on the laptop. After a lot of pain reached this, went to the site of microsoft and .net framework 3.5 directly downloaded on laptop with the statement to execute. Has taken a while but it downloaded and installed. Computer restarted-watch installation qualified.

4 then tried the same thing with the HP link above - IE a download direct and executed. He ran, followed the instructions and connected the printer when requested. All steps except activation - wouldn't connect on the HP Web site link.

5 creates a document word on the laptop, tried to print it - that prompted a test page and the mod by placing the page printed on the scanner. At the end of the word doc printed. Clicked on the button to say activation to change the time.

Printer 6 now seems to work fine, just like Copier and scanner - we keep our fingers crossed that it continues!

  • DeskJet 2540: Ink cartridges Deskjet 2540 because out of the box

I just implemented the Deskjet 2540 I bought yesterday, using the black and tricolor cartridges 301 which is entered in the box. Both cartridge lights are flashing now, and I get the error message that cartridges have failed. I tried to remove and reinsert the cartridges, power cycling the printer according to the instructions in the HP support and gently wipe the contacts on the cartridges. Nothing has worked. It seems that too much of a coincidence that the two print cartridges are defective right out of the packaging. Any ideas?

Time to take it for a refund or a replacement.

  • DeskJet Deskjet 2540:2540 wireless

I have set up with the hp drivers a deskjet 2540.

I have a home wifi network, and I used the usb cable to configure the printer and connect to the wireless network.

What I noticed, and I want to fix is that the printer generates another wireless with sid 'HP-Print-FE-Deskjet 2540 series.

Because the printer is connected to my wireless with its own sid, and I can get to the interface web or ping, I don't want the printer to generate a point of access by itself.

    How to achieve this?

All you have to do is to turn off wireless directly into the printer. This will stop the SSID printers you're psychic. Now, you connect to your routers SSID with password.
