HP DeskJet 500 printer

Hello. I use a HP DeskJet 500 printer, which is about 14 or 15 years old. My problem is that when I insert a new cartridge, it works very well for a few days and then stops just print. My remedy is so far to remove the cartridge, pull it out and shake it vigorously and then reinstall it. It works for a few minutes to several days. This has happened with the last 3 cartridges, I have installed.

I don't know if my printer is just tired or if I got hold of a defective batch of cartridges?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Wow - this printer sounds like it must be an old friend! Is failure, an error message, or printing is faded or ridged?

Are you sure that you are using genuine HP cartridges? The HP cartridges are guaranteed to work up to the date that is printed on the cartridge. Here's a doc on the warranty of HP ink, which shows you where the dates on the cartridge: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00206040

If you use genuine HP cartridges and see repeated failures, you should be able to get a replacement under warranty. You shouldn't have gotten 3 defective cartridges in a row.

The only other thing I can think is that some older printers cartridge problems can be caused by an accumulation of sludge of ink on the service station. I can find no documentation for the Deskjet 500 on hp.com, so I can't tell you even which side of the printer is the gas station, but if you turn off the printer, open it so that you can physically see the cart with the cartridges and then pull the transport until the middle of the printer, the service station must be just below where the transport was. If you see a build up of sludge to ink it, you could try, very carefully, to clean. Be aware that the mud is dried ink and will be very messy - be sure that you don't get on your skin, clothes, carpets, etc..

Good luck!

Just bought a new computer with Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium edition (no parallel port), but can't get the old Deskjet 500 working despite reading all internet posts, of the solutions.   I hope someone has a story to share.

I bought a USB / parallel, as many have suggested on the web.  The cable has been properly installed by Windows 7.  It appears under "Devices and printers" upward as IEEE-1284 of print USB media controller.  I then "Add a printer" and select USB001 (virtual printer to USB port), then select HP Deskjet 500.  Window 7 seemed to install the driver successfully seeing the icon of the printer with the 'green' checkbox

However, when I try to print a document, the document in the queue of the printer as "print...". "but get nothing printing.  Then after a minute or two, the printer queue message becomes "error - printing" and the icon of the printer goes 'green' checkmark to the triangle "yellow!"

    Any help is appreciated.

I have an old HP Deskjet 990cse printer which needs a new driver.  I've recently updated for MacOS Sierra, and now the printer does not work.  I can't find an updated driver on the HP site.  Disappointment because the printer still works fine.

I managed to make it work.  I went into system preferences and deleted and then added the printer.  He now uses a generic driver.

  • Where can I find the download of the base for a HP Deskjet D4260 printer driver?

Where can I find the download of the base for a HP deskjet D4260 printer driver? I have a new Windows 8 tablet running, and the only thing I can find is downloadable for the complete software suite.  References from the HP website they have a base driver download but you don't tell where.  Search all of lead them to the download of the complete suite.

    Hello eworth3,

I followed on the specific page for this driver and found the same thing - my apologies that there is not a link on this page for basic training.  I did a search on the site hp.com for this text and it took me to a page that has the base driver... I have included the link below.  This is the basic feature software solution and is a driver software intended only to users who want a basic print and driver scanning for use with their device from HP all-in-one.

Thank you for that bring to our attention: I would ask to add the link to the specific page.

  • HP Deskjet D4360 printer

Help!  HP Deskjet D4360 printer is practically new out of the box - probably printed a dozen copies to date.  Ink cartridges are genuine HP and also almost brand new.  The printer has been used for a few months, which has never been a problem w / my previous 4360.

Initially "printing" white pages; re-installed the software and provided a sample page in various shades of blue, with the "20" in the almost invisible centre.

I cleaned and re - clean cartridges (basic and intermediate); aligned and re-aligned; calibrated and calibrated; primed and re-primed - to no avail.  With printing alignment, I'm not able to determine any # s in order to answer the questions about the visible lines least.

Undertook to research further and was guided on how to print a 'diagnostic' page - the printer chatters and click on that it will do something, but nothing.  The instructions give no indication of how long to press the power & Cancel buttons, so from different eras have been tried.

Also turned the printer off and restarted it about half an hour later--had no effect.

I need to use this printer today - any of you experts can help me?

Have you tried to install new cartridges?

  • Download driver HP Deskjet 990cxi printer

Hi, I am looking to download the driver for HP deskjet 990cxi printer model. I can't use windows update, because it's not because of the windows group policy.

I can't find the model of the printer when I download the utility.

If anyone could advice in other words, I can download the driver for this printer I would appreciate it.

The operating system (Windows 7 and Windows 8) has its own printer driver.  HP has not produced a driver for this printer for Windows 7 and Windows 8.

  • DeskJet D2360: Deskjet 2360 - prints wrong colors, even if the test page seems well

In 10 (64-bit) Windows, Deskjet D2360 prints the well test page, but the colors aren't any application (documents, photos...). Cyan looks like dark blue. Green also appears dark blue. I just updated the drivers from the HP website, but the behavior remains the same.

The problem appeared after Windows 10 updates (January 2016 and later versions).

Print and Scan Doctor couldn't fix it. Help!

(Suggestion: If your printer prints the test page, why not propose an image file with what the test is supposed to look like.) This is useful especially to confirm colors. If I have a print test and see a few squares of color, how could I know if they are the correct colors?)

After a long period of frustration, I found the non-professional magic solution:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/inkjet-printing/printer-prints-wrong-colors-after-Windows-10-update/TD-p/5242565/highlight/false/page/3

Print a test page with HP print and Scan doctor. Once the problem is resolved.

  • hp deskjet 1510 printing too dark

    Hello

As says the subject, my HP Deskjet 1510 printer is printing too dark. Does anyone know how to change this?

    Thank you

    Thanks for the reply.

You try to print a photo, if so what program? If you print word documents, try printing in draft mode.

I would like you open the printer from the desktop icon or go to Start> all programs> HP> Deskjet 1510> 1510 Deskjet series. The Printer Wizard, click the estimated ink levels> Services> print quality diagnostic report, not this dark printing page as well?

  • DeskJet F4140: Printer prints wrong colors after updating windows 10

    Hi all

This is my first post here on the forums and it's a doozy.

I've updated my laptop last night from 8.1 to win to win 10.  Power seems to work well except my Deskjet F4140 printer. It prints, but the colors are false.  bruises are red, red green, green are "purple", made for an interestng very a first impression. I did all the usual stuff, troubleshooting, test the page clean and align the heads. Uninstall and reinstall to make sure it was getting the windows 10 driver, but alas my problem remains. I tried to find a way to change the mode of compataibility and can't find my file .exe for the printer. I know it's and older printer, but it works like a top and I'd hate to have to replace it because of this problem.

    TLR

update to win 10 and colors are off like hell.

    Thank you

    Robbie

Finally fixed my printer not through HP. What I had to do is access the so-called Godmode on windows 10. It allows to access all the parameters of the user as well hidden and non-hidden in one place. I went down to my printer and changed its functioning as windows 8.1 and it works as it should. You should be able to learn more about the Google's God mode command line script. Thank you and good night.

  • HP Deskjet 1000: Print on full page

When I print on any size paper, this problem arises.

To make things easy to understand, just think an A4 (210 * 297 mm). When I print on A4 paper, the width of the image is such that it should be (210 mm), but the height is about 10-15 mm less that it should be (less than 297 mm).

The same thing happen even when printed on photo paper. (for 4 * 6 photo paper there is an empty space around 5 mm in length)

    Hello

The HP Deskjet 1000 does not support edge to edge printing without margins, it is limited to a specific which unit margins should not exceed those.

You can find its minimum margins according to the specifications of paper output > print margins below, the printer may not exceed these margins, which are not printable:
