HP Diagnostics

Hello, I do some troubleshooting a compaq elite 8300 slim desktop computer. There is a continuous beep. The LED does not blink. It has no operating system installed. The beep disappears when I remove the hard drive. I'm testing the hard drive. This seems to be a challenge, since the diagnosis F2 screen keeps coming up 'NOT INSTALLED' for the test drive. Interesting because I can run a test of memory happening. So I tried HP Vision Diagnostic Hardware from a USB key. Now there are usually six sections: System, graphics, video and display, storage, network and Internet connectivity, all about the computer and test system. I had five sections. The missing section? Storage. If no disk hard don't test this way. Although I have thought since I'm here I could run like all other tests. All tests passed. Then I flashed the BIOS from a bootable USB key. At the moment I'm still not able to image the hard drive or test the hard drive. I still have the continuous beep. I have cleaned the inside and examined the pins and they are straight and intact. I changed the hard drive with another of the same model and the beep went off.

In order to return the hard drive to HP as a bad hard drive, I need to get the error code. Please notify. Thank you!

For those here who may fall on this issue, I believe that this is caused by a short circuit in the controller card on the hard drive that has also caused a problem with the SATA controller on the motherboard. So basically it's a bad hard drive which cannot be verified because it is shorted. Be forewarned, if you put the wrong hard drive in a good system, you may damage the motherboard on the right system.

  • Black screen during the launch of Apple Diagnostics

    Hi people,

my end of 2013 Mac Pro 6.1 (OSX 10.10.5) takes unusually long to start (a few minutes) since a few days ago.

Verbose mode must be terribly long to load the boot.efi

So the first step for me is to run the Diagnostics by Apple to exclude any material based questions.

But neither pressing "D", nor the network launch base "Alt + D' Apple Diagnostics tool.

It gives me just a black screen, no matter how many times I press on and wait.

The monitor is 'active', so some sort of signal goes off, it's just black.

Does anyone have an idea what is the cause and how to fix it?

    Thanks in advance

    Try the following:

-Try to reset memory NVRAM/PRAM and SMC

-Then disconnect everything except the mouse, keyboard, monitor Ethernet (if used) and starting with the D button depressed power. Best is to use a wired keyboard.

My new Macbook Air freezes all the time, I do closures hard then it comes back, in general. The tech simply ran Mac twice diagnostics and says that nothing is wrong with it. I think I bought a lemon. Any ideas what I need to do? Is it's better to go to a real Apple store rather than just Mac for repairs/diagnosis? Is the customer service nothing better in a real store?

  • Sprout of HP: HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI install faulty

5 times the HP Support Assistant attempted to update the "HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI". Whenever he fails. After each attempt, I made a stop and then tried again.

After two attempts to install from HP software web page I got it to install correctly. Then I got the HP Support Assistant to do another scan and all is good.

  • Apple Diagnostics does not work

I have an old Macbook Pro which has become incredibly slow, and I say well SLOW.

I've done everything I know how to do several times including the PRAM reset, running the Cocktail application and use Activity Monitor to see if any process is eating the CPU. Nothing seems to help. I read recently about the diagnoses of Apple program, which ran successfully on my current iMac and Macbook Air, but on this older MBP, it won't work at all. Now I have the D key at startup to run locally and the-D Option for the remote version, the machine simply starts up - not possible to diagnosis.

I wiped twice and he restored from a time machine backup twice with no noticeable improvement. Are not unwanted startup applications and no crapware like MacKeeper has already been installed.

Anyone out there have an idea why the machine is not working the program of diagnostics? Or something I could try to combat the slowness that is so extreme that the machine is almost unusable? The machine is six or seven years and has been improved all the way to Yosemite. I have with me now, so, unfortunately, that I don't know it's exact age and which version of the original operating system was.

    Thank you!

  • Optical drive is not recognized in Windows 8.1 (x 64) or in the UEFI System Diagnostics.

    Description of the problem:

Optical drive is not recognized in Windows 8.1 (x 64) or in the UEFI System Diagnostics.

    Steps to recreate:

    UEFI:

    1. Start the PC in diagnosis system UEFI (F2 at the STATION)
    2. Pane controls
    3. Optical drive
    4. Sequential control
    5. Error: Optical drive not installed.

    8.1 Windows (x 64):

    1. Run Device Manager
    2. Error: No CD/DVD Drives section.
    3. Search for new hardware changes nothing.

    Relevant system specs:

Mobile: HP Pavilion 15-n023sa (construction of vanilla)

    Optical drive: HP DVDRAM gu70n

    Steps already taken to solve:

    • Replaced the DVD drive with one of the similar specs of HP Pavilion. The replaced gn70n perfectly in the other machine. No change on problem laptop. Conclusion: DVD player works, and there is no problems with Windows 8.1 (x 64).
    • Removed DVD player. Restarted the computer. Sign in to Windows. Stop. Replace the DVD drive. Start the laptop. This is trying to solve defects of material with the PnP devices; more help to solve any problems of intermittent loose connection. Conclusion: No change.
    • Ran, troubleshooting of hardware and devices, via the control panel. Problem found: material changes may not have been detected. Explore more options just takes you through http://social.answers.microsoft.com/search/en-us/?query=hardware+device, that it is a 404 error page. Conclusion: Help and Support Windows is sorely lacking. They show no more information than just that something was detected as incorrect.
    • Ran the Microsoft FixIt troubleshooting of optical disc and auto repairman. (http://download.microsoft.com/download/F/5/8/F586FB7C-78E0-40EB-AF41-4C925F803CAF/CDDVDWin8.meta.dia... The convenience store has reported that the device was not found. He recommended to remove all power cables, power off, and various other things which have no relevance for computer laptop troubleshooting of switching equipment. He said: If the problem persists, contact the manufacturer. Conclusion: Windows troubleshooting can not solve the problem.
    • Run Windows Update to ensure that all updates and definitions have been installed. Conclusion: Windows is perfectly up to date.
    • Run a complete Rootkit and malware using Sbybot S & D 2.3 heuristic analysis. as a signature database scan using Windows Defender. Conclusion: Laptop is clean of rootkits and malware, to the best of my knowledge.

    Notes:

The DVD player is NOT appear in Device Manager, OR in this PC.

The DVD drive is NOT detected by diagnostics system UEFI.

There is reference to the DVD in BIOS drive NUMBER , other than as an option of Setup, which is generic.

The DVD player itself, works and has been verified on a different machine.

The only possible conclusion is that the optical drive port mini-SATA on the motherboard is dead.

  • HP pc hardware diagnostics uefi

I currently own a HP 700-074 model computer HP PC Diagnostics UEFI version 5.2.4.0 (rev.1). I check the support site HP monthly for driver and hardware updates and noticed an update for this program.

This may seem like I'm a little picky, but nobody knows what kind of corrections are available in the hardware of PC HP update the Diagnostics UEFI 5.3.4.0 (Rev. 1) published on 20/12/2013? What is a patch security, minor features/corrections or something else? I guess my question is what is a mandatory update or a recommended update? This program comes with a scoring change that documents what is updated? I'm pretty tired of updating my main hard drive (I don't want to screw up the UEFI boot sector and having to reinstall Windows 8) or Flash the BIOS, especially if its only for the minor bug fixes I can tolerate. All answers are appreciated. Thank you all for your time.

Hi boinc127, I don't have the log of changes from the last update, but if you have no special numbers its better to not be affected in the present case because it has a prittey complicated procedure to get this installed update, Adi.

  • Diagnostics of Office 2007

I was not able to run Office 2007 on my new laptop Windows 7 Diagnostics.  It says that I don't have sufficient permissions to run it.  Even when I go to the OFFDIAG file. EXE file and try to run it as administrator, it still gives me a permissions problem.  I am always signed the as administrator and do not know where to go for the "permissions".

That fixed it!  Thank you, Don

  • HP Pavilion 030ea-b: Hardware Diagnostics failure error

    Hello

I ran HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI. Details [disk 1]:

    Smart Check: spent

    Long DST: failure

    Failure ID: 0LG55D-000837-X87T1A - 618P 03

Please could someone tell me what is failure and how do I correct?

    Thank you very much

    Hi @23 - B030ea,.

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!  I understand that tests your cam drive upward with an error when you run the UEFI. I'm happy to give you a helping hand with this.

I checked the ID failed you posted and it gave me the error code SMART Drive from 305. Now if your hard drive still works for you, I highly recommend to make a backup of all the data that is important to you as soon as possible. A SMART test drive is usually a predictor of drive failure. It could happen today or in a few months, but rather than to risk of losing everything, it is best to take precautions.

See also this paper: HP laptops - Hard Drive failure errors: failure Imminent, Smart, BIOHD, HD535, etc.

Once your data is safely backed up, you should probably look at a replacement hard drive.

Please let me know if it works for you and if it does not solve your problem, please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.

  • The System Diagnostics

    Hi all

I tried to run Diagnostics from the system of Lenovo and I see is a message in red saying it is running and wait. Well, I waited for an hour and I think that it worked at all.

I've never had to wait this long. Why is this, and this is not acceptable?

OK, I found the problem. I did a system restore to 06/05 and there are some programs that have been restored that I had uninstalled before that was a mistake and caused diagnostics to fail. If after the system restore, my first attempt to run the Diagnostics failed. The second attempt was successful.

    Thanks Spidey.

The hard drive gave error failure - ATA, model type is serial ST9500325AS [personal information]

    WHAT should happen?

Also battery check: primary - calibration required (21) - How to calibrate?

And I don't understand why they provide HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI - if their information so that it does not exist.

The hard drive has failed and needs to be replaced. If you are still in warranty HP will send a replacement. If this is not the case, a laptop SATA hard detail can be used. Just be sure to get one of at least equal quality of the original in order to use recovery media to install the drivers/software/Windows on the new hard drive. It may be big, but not small ability more. For example if you have a 500 GB hard drive you can use a 750 GB hard drive, but not a 320 GB hard drive.

  • Partition HP_TOOLS after update from HP System Diagnostics (UEFI)?

    Hello

I bought a Compaq HP 6730 s about 2 and one and a half years. Last time I installed Windows was in 2009, when I switched to Win7 Pro x 64. I usually keep my system up to date so I decided to use HP Softpaq Download Manager to see what is new because I have not done in a year about. By updating HP System Diagnostics (UEFI) I noticed the installer to begin creating a new partition using DISKPART. It has 2 GB of E:\ and created a new partition HP_TOOLS (H:\).  First of all, was it really necessary given that I had only 3.5 GB of free space on E:\? In addition, the old version of HP System Diagnostics (UEFI) has not used a separate partition. Secondly: is it really necessary to keep or is the only partition something temporary created to facilitate the update process (although this makes no sense to me), meanning can I simply delete and merge into E:\.

Third: in the case where HP_TOOLS is not delete recomanded, at least hide by using the local Group Policy Editor?

    Thank you!

The latest version of the installer of HP System Diagnostics (UEFI) gives an option for installation on drive hard or on a USB flash drive according to your needs. I personally recommend not not to delete the partition HP_TOOLS as its useful during the process of updating the BIOS in case if you want to do a restore etc.

HP_TOOLS partition is also useful in F2 (the System Diagnostics) market in the case of any emergency if necessary.

  • Uninstalling hp pc hardware diagnostics uefi

Hi, I have HP pavilion n010ek, I installed the pc hardware diagnostics uefi since section hp drivers in this site, everything worked, and a score is made as in the picture (HP_TOOLS f), unless I want to uninstall it but I couldn't find in the Control Panel, how can I uninstall the hp pc hardware diagnostics uefi?

    Hello

You can delete the HP_TOOLS partition as follows.

Hold down the Windows key and press R.  Type diskmgmt.msc and press ENTER.

In the lower pane (chart) showing the partitions, right-click the HP_TOOLS partition and select delete the Volume.

Once completed, this leaves an entry for "unallocated space".

You can then right-click on the C partition and select Extend Volume to add to the C partition unallocated space.

    Kind regards
