HP EliteBook 6930p wireless button problem

Hi all

I just did a clean install of windows 8.1 pro and I see that my wireless driver is installed, I also went to intel.com to check that I have the latest version of the driver, but also the hp.com.

However, I have keys in touch with lights above my WiFi control keyboard and his, etc...

Tactile sound options work very well, but the WiFi button is amber and will not change to blue. My wireless network adaptor is enabled under Windows.

No idea why this button does not work?

wwwoooooohhhhhooooo!

He sussed!

It took help from HP wireless assistance

All I had to do was dissconnect LAN cable! How stupid lol!

Thanks for all your help!

Using LAN/WLAN switch

LAN/WLAN switch (available on some models only) is a setting in the BIOS. The device wireless LAN is turned on unless the computer is connected via a network (NIC) interface card to an active wired LAN. When the computer is connected to a wired LAN, wireless network is disabled until the wired LAN is disconnected. This is called LAN/WLAN switching and is particularly useful if you switch back regularly between a wired LAN and wireless LAN. LAN/WLAN switching can be disabled by using the computer configuration utility.

NOTE:

This option does not apply to Bluetooth or WWAN.

To enable or disable changing the LAN/WLAN:

1. turn on or restart the computer. 2. If the message "Press f10 to enter setup" appears in the lower left corner of the screen, press f10 to access the configuration of the computer utility. 3. use the arrow keys to navigate to the System's Configuration > integrated device Options > switching LAN/WLAN, and select enable or disable.

  • Problem with Y550 Wireless: Wireless button does nothing

Got this Y550 (used), a few days ago. When I got there, the wifi worked well. Then it stopped working, I reinstalled Windows 7 (Lenovo recovery CD), then every time I turn on the wireless button, it just does nothing. No wifi signal, it's like a dummy button. Here's what I've tried so far:

    1) updated the driver and BIOS (Intel Wifi link 5100 AGN)

    (2) for configuration towards the top of my network and sharing Center, and whenever I tried troubleshooting, it says 'enable wireless function '.

It's as if everything doesn't work anymore. The laptop says stil it's under warranty, but I don't know if I can do anything with the guarantee (second user).

My other lenovo G550 has the same problem. But it is always connected to the wired router, but still, I would like to know what is the problem and how to fix them. I searched the forum for Y550 wireless problem, but has not really helped. Should I change the wireless card, on each of them? Thanks in advance

    Do a hard reset:

1 disconnect all devices and remove all USB devices and multimedia cards.

2 disconnect the power adapter, remove the battery and then press in and hold the button for at least 1 minute.

3 reconnect the power adapter (do not connect the battery), press the power button

I would really appreciate some help here. Recently, I did a factory rest on my laptop dv7 HP Envy but can't reinstall Windows 10.

Before doing this, I was told that I need updates of Windows 8 to 8.1, and then to Windows 10.

For some reason, I am unable to install the driver of HP wireless button. Whenever I try to download through Windows Update in Control Panel, it downloads and after installation displays an error code 80070436.

I am unable to get this driver installed and therefore cannot be updated to Windows 8.1. I tried to update to 8.1 without the driver, but my laptop is restarted it got stuck at 82%.

I would be grateful if someone could give me some advice or help get this sort I seem to keep hitting a brick wall.

    Thank you very much

    You are the very welcome.

You will be able to install W10 directly without the need to spend any other OS.

I did it several times already, so I know it works.

  • Recharge in question with Elitebook 6930p

Hello forums HP, I had to come back here and you guys/girls ask a question on the Elitebook series and the battery not charging issue. I recently bought this laptop to replace the other two laptop computers HP garbage that we had here. The DV9005 was a total waste of money, and the compaq CQ50 wasn't much better either. This elitebook, however, was a more decent experience to use fortunately.

Now this is not a brand new laptop, yet once just cannot afford to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for a computer.  Anyone who does, well good for you.

On the problem, when I got the laptop it didn't load or a hard drive adapter. I have a spare empty the drive to use and bought a generic adapter. A week later I ended up finding an official adapter brand by HP because I thought it was the problem.

While using the generic adapter the battery would sometimes for free and sometimes no fees make about 97 to 98% and refuse any charges no load in addition, you use the adapter to generic China crap. I've tried everything I could think and followed the guides on the internet. Back in removing the battery, uninstall the drivers in the device, reboot without the battery Manager, then put the battery. These tactics were all hit and Miss and worked but only for a little while. I pulled the hard drive from the compaq system and used in this one before getting rid of Compaq. He still had the original install Windows on it and after all troubleshooting I thought hey "must have a problem with the old drivers of material to the old system, that the reader was.  So finally, I got an official charger (battery checked also great in the HP Battery Check software).

So with the new charger, I formatted the hard drive and installed Windows 7 x 64 ultimate again. Then let the installer and Windows Update find all drivers, and with that the problem seemed to have disappeared.  I had to manually install some drivers, such as ATI and the fingerprint reader drivers (I don't use it however). It has now charged to 100%, but sometimes his didn't. By that I mean I have to let the battery discharge below 90% (89% and less) until the system takes care of the battery.  Is this normal? Should not charge the battery back up no matter what percentage the cells are to, or is it some sort of feature that I quite simply not aware of? Another thing is that sometimes the battery may charge very quickly, and sometimes drag on for hours. Also a high-pitched hum can be heard when it is loaded, as you can hear electricity do something. It's the best way I can describe it.

I must point out that I have updated the bios and until recently was installed some (not all) of HP bloatware, like buttons to quick launch, battery check, the software Center of shit for the info on the quick launch Panel button. I don't have that sounds good, as many processes running for a single piece of hardware. I avoided all other apparently non-essential pilot updated on the HP site. The HP software all created about 7 quick launch buttons and the automatic update processes. I found this unacceptable and removed all of the HP software, the system works very well with it. The only thing that is weird is the battery and plugged her in State of charge do not. It load properly for days until what I removed software, even when she was only a few percentage points lower than the threshold 100% charged. Now it's back to the way it was under the generic charger, so I suspect that the generic charger works fine and something else is the problem.

Is in charge of the HP software required for a normal and regular battery? If that's the case it's a bit concerning, when I buy a product that the product becomes my property not sellers more and the fact that your 3rd party software may be needed for normal operations is a slap in the face for consumers worldwide. While I appreciated the attempts of HP to automate and dumb down everything for users who do not know what that make them. You should consider that not everyone needs or wants that such automated support and good marketing system of the factory. Maybe in future models you will not install the default HP software.  The mouse pad has for example, a driver and a process for him. I can see for the process and it's okay to have because it's necessary if I want to use the track buttons built based on scroll, among other things. Connect the buttons to quick launch to load batteries (if that is what is happening here) has been/is a horrible idea.

Please correct me if I'm wrong about all this, I'm waiting for you response to the issue of the battery charge and will provide more information if necessary.

  • HP elitebook 6930p wifi works does not after imaging system

I recently created an image of a hp elitebook 6930p and cloned it, when I noticed that the wifi does not work (although he was working at some point before I start Imaging). If I use an ethernet connection, internet works fine.

I am running windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit on them.

I have a good number of them and I installed a fresh windows OS on one and there is no problem with the wifi.

I tried to look online for a solution and two came:

    1. Tap the Panel fast wifi 'button': when information, fast volume buttons work, the wifi is not
    2. reset the default settings in the bios: Unfortunately, these laptops were given to us and there is a password on the bios. I tried to enter anything. I'm afraid to push more in case there is a measure of protection against theft on too many failed password

What else can I do to fix this?

Have you checked HP Connection Manager?

In addition, if you have cable network plaged in Wi - Fi would be disabled.

  • Wireless button remains orange. Lights on.

Hi there, I'm having some problems with my laptop recently. The wireless won't turn on no and stays out of little matter how many times I press the button of the wireless switch which is above the keyboard, remaining always this color orange relics indicating that the wireless is disabled.

Number and name of the product: Compaq Presario CQ50-215 - 215 CA

Operating system: Windows Vista 32 - bit OEM

(As appropriate) error message : error no. a little. First time I press the wireless button, the popup Assistant wireless HP says "WLAN: Off '. I have a second time and wrote "WLAN: Disabled" and the cycle repeats when I press on it a bunch of times.

Any changes made to your system before the issue occurred: that's what I think the problem is a few days before my wireless doesn't work anymore, I had my battery disconnected and just running off the AC adapter. My father accidentally disconnected my AC while it was spend vacuuming the living room. At the STATION, I got a cmos checksum error message. Computer started normally with an incorrect time/date in the bios, but at the time when internet was still functioning. Fast forward to a few days later, my wireless and then stops working.

    Other info/Thins, I tried

-J' I goto manage network connections-> there is a red x on my wireless network connection icon but on click right he said he his 'active' with only the option to disable. Click on diagnose and he said: "on this computer's wireless capability is turned off."

-J' I goto the Atheros AR5007 802. 11 b / g WiFi adapter properties screen and the device status says "this device is working properly.

-I go into the Device Manager and theres no "!" or whatever it is on my network cards.

-Tried to get into the bios and see if there was something on my adapter wireless that has been disabled, but the only thing I could find was an option in the boot order allowing to map internal network starts when the laptop starts. Tried to activate / deactivate options, and nothing really happened.

-I can still take an ethernet cable and I work ok on my Wired internet.

-Tried to uninstall the driver/restart the computer. Upon restart, it reinstalled the drivers but the wireless still won't turn.

At this point, for me, it seems that it is a hardware problem and kinda outta luck. Had this laptop about 3 years and a little really need yet for the school. Can anyone suggest what I can still check/fix?

try to reinstall your wireless card... thiscould help to make...

  • Pavilion DV7-1451nr: Wireless button stays amber

My pavilion dv7-1451nr turns wireless keyboard blue when I have to reset the motherboard by removing the battery and press the power button / stop seconds, after which I plug in charger to him while leaving the battery and press the power button / stop. After that, I would like to press f10 to enter the bios setup, then I would like to load the defaults, save and exit.

After doing all that I have explained above, the wireless button becomes blue and wireless assistant would be activated and indicates that the wireless is turned on. If I check in the Device Manager, I see the hardware details and driver wireless populated it and everything should work fine, but once I restart the computer, the wireless button would refuse to start. There is orange. If I try to check the State of the material status and driver WLAN on Device Manager, they would be is more filled it more and wireless assistant will refuse to start. If by chance he started, this would indicate that the wireless is turned off by the Device Manager.

I had tried uninstalling the wireless LAN driver and reinstalled just in case the problem came from the software side but not solution. Just this afternoon, I have decoupled from the computer and removed the card WLAN, dusted it and replace it back, but the problem persists.

The type of wireless network card is Atheros AR5007 802.11 b/g WiFi adapter. I noticed something this afternoon, however, after having checked the service manual for the computer, I realized that there is specific types of the wireless card compatible for specific regions. For example, the number of appropriate wlan spare parts which must be on my computer is 582564-002 and have this with references with the number of spare part of wlan on the wireless card available on my computer that begins with sps 452..., I realized something was wrong. I'll leave that to stop you guys from HP, but I really need a solution to this problem very fast because it's really annoying me. Thank you.

    Hello @LL_Cool_J,

    Thanks for the information!

I don't know what you mean, when he asked if the model is 50xx or 40xx. Confirming the WLAN Module is a little difficult, because there are several manuals maintenance for this model.  I was able to refine the selection a bit, by comparing the numbers of spare part for hard drives.  Based on this REPAIR, the WLAN Modules you have listed, 582564-002, 593836-001, must be compatible.  However, I don't see the Atheros as option in this manual.  To be on the safe side, you can contact our telephone support HP.  Please use the following http://www.hp.com/contacthp and create a folder for your question and contact HP. • Satellite A500-1GL - card wireless adapter problem

    Hi all

I had a problem with the card wireless on my laptop for months and have no idea how solve more.

Basically, the wireless card seems to go through phases does not turn on. One day I can boot up my laptop and it works fine, then the next day it won't work. The wireless button on the front of the laptop is turned on but don't turn on the red light.

In the past, I've managed to get over this by several reboots the laptop (until he decides to work) or reinstall flash, wireless etc. drivers card drivers. However, none of these things today seem to be making a difference.

The worst, it's that there is no continuity with when it does not work and how it is fixed (sometimes reboot once fixes it, other times reinstall drivers fix it and so on).

For this reason, I assumed that this may mean that there is some sort of hardware failure? But if I run the laptop in safe mode, the wireless still works without any problem.

Someone has an idea what is happening?

    Any help would be appreciated,

    Liam

    Hello

First of all I would like to know what system you are using and if you have tried to recover the laptop to factory settings in the past.

The point is that these issues are mostly related software and could be solved by resetting the system.

However, I think you know that the wireless network card can be turned on and off using the FN + F8 key combination.
Have you tried this combination in the past?

Second, you must check the WLan card status in Device Manager.
The point is that problems of card driver WLan, Wlan card doesn't would be not listed correctly in Device Manager. So this should be the next step.

Where the Wlan card is listed correctly, I assume that the driver is installed and working properly.
