HP envy 13: hp envy 13 QHD compatible monitor

Hello

I have a HP Envy 13 with Quad HD display + (3200 x 1800). I would like to be able from time to time to connect my laptop to a monitor. The laptop has the following ports:

1 HDMI
1 headset/microphone combo
3 USB 3.0 (1 HP USB Boost)

Is there a compatible monitor that I can connect my laptop that would display properly in the high resolution it supports?

Thank you

Emma

Hi @emzyme20,

Thank you for your clarification.

If your laptop is running at a higher resolution, then it would support resolution up to and including your current bet.

Here is a link to a superuser forum post that should help you in your decision.  with resolution of monitor and external display?.  Please note the number 4.  All the ads on the page are not endorsed by HP.

To get higher on the external monitor resolution, it must also support this resolution.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

    LOWapproach, welcome to the forum.

Here is a card that should work for you.  He argues that a 300W power supply unit (PSU) or better is necessary to function properly.  The power supply of your computer is 300W.  Many members have said actually to 400W.  You can try and buy a more powerful POWER supply if necessary.  Most newer cards require at least 400W.

  • Want to Phoenix h9: HP Envy H9 Phoenix - multiple monitors

No Windows 10 option above, but it's a question that began with Windows 8 and continues with Windows 10.

I have a h9 Phoenix envy that I am very satisfied, but have had trouble with multiple monitors.  I can't find any documentation on the adding more than two monitors.  I have one running on the HDMI connector and another through the DVI.  But the addition of a third monitor became a mystery.  There are two additional DVI connections, but both were covered and when the updated seem to be connected to anything internal.  They are somewhat obscured by the food, and I'd rather not shoot to see the back side, I don't have to.

Then, there are two additional Minies connections on the same card that DVI and HDMI connectors that I use on the first two monitors.  However, I can't find any documentation on the mini type connectors (like maybe mini DVI) I can find no cable to adapt.

Is there something in the BIOS that must be returned to activate more ports?  Three monitors is not an option in the configuration current/components?  Can I add another video card supporting three monitors?  I have the AMD Radeon HD series 7900 graphics card.

It seems a waste to throw away when it works so well otherwise!  He performmed flawlesly with the migration of Windows 10 and could last a little longer.

    @HawkeEye

I suggest that you try an what AMD approved DP to HDMI adapter activewhich also works with AMD EyeFinity.

There may be a ' I gottcha "If the AMD 7900 is an OEM HP card. HP in the past has used decorum for AMD graphics cards drivers so using a retail AMD driver could be a problem, or it might work.

  • HP Envy 17-inch: external monitor

    Hello
I just got a HP Envy, 17 inches, and I have a HP 25 inch monitor I want to connect to it. It was the "old style" connector that was leaning on my old HP Entertainment Notebook. Not on the new! Should which adapter I do? I have a HDMI port on the left side of my laptop.  Should I just a regular HDMI cable? Please try to keep the rock and pretty simple answer lol for instance or even a link to what I need. Thank you in advance!

    Hello

Old connector that probably, you talk about VGA port. Because HDMI uses digital and analog VGA usage, you need a HDMI to VGA Converter that is similar to one of the following:

You can use the old cable to connect the converter on your monitor.

  • Window 8 HP Envy 700 error on monitor

    Hello

I am a newbie to forums so hope I'm doing this correctly.  I received a HP Envy 700-074 office with Windows 8 for a Christmas gift.  I took my old computer xp shop pc to transfer data and everything was fine until this morning.  I received the following message appears on the display: scanning and no VGA or DVI signal found then goes to "sleep".

Help, please.  I'm so frustrated right now.   Husband and I are retired now.  He tried to reset factory settings monitor has pulled the plug of monitor power and held the power button

for 60 seconds and back plugged in to the bottom.

Yesterday, I remember turning off... .unchecking "Restart automatically" because of the guarded pc restart all since I got this new pc.

Thanking you in advance for your help.

    Kathy

    Hi Kathy,

    Can you please check the following;

    (1) make sure that the computer is connected to the display with a VGA, DVI or HDMI cable...

    (2) make sure that the monitor and computer are powered...

    (3) make sure that the monitor and the computer has been turned on... you should have a light on both.

Any number of things may happen and I want to be sure the computer is not stop or go to sleep. If please report back with your findings and let us know if the problem is solved or not.

  • HP Envy 311na 700: HP Envy 700-311na - no monitor output work

Hi, thanks for taking the time to read this.

    No.: G9B05EA #ABU

    Model n °: 700-311na

My PC works absolutely fine for the last two months, until what I tried to put on yesterday.  My problem is that my screen displays "signal found" despite my branch above Tower.

    Start-up and testing:

    • When starting my PC I get the usual beeps and the Red led on it becomes as it normally would.
    • The wifi light is on as it should be, on the front of my Tower.
    • The usual flashing light also works as usual on the front of the tower.
    • The fans work properly when turned on.
    • My wireless keyboard and mouse are recognized as soon as a key is pressed or the mouse moves, like light blue on my connector USB lights up as it normally would.
    • The CD open/close readers as it should.

    What I've tried so far:

    • Turning off and on again (no luck).
    • Remove the power cord from the computer and hold the power button for 15 seconds before reconnecting and powered it back up (no luck).
    • Connect my turn to another monitor via HDMI (no signal found error also on this one).
    • With the help of my usual PC monitor for other things (my xbox entry was detected immediately on the monitor via HDMI).
    • By using all the methods of display output 3 available with my usual monitor (DVI, HDMI, DP), none of them worked and all would result in no error signal on the screen.
    • Withdrawal/meeting the cables of the screen.  This does not give rise to my monitor to turn on as if is acknowledged the connection has been established to an output device, but once the display lights I get the usual error message ("this is the case with two DVI and DP connections, HDMI does not give me a lot of joy, but maybe it's because she's going through a ' 1 autodetect in 3 out" HDMI splitter.)  The separator acknowledges, that the HDMI is connected, but I get the normal red light that appears when a Powered HDMI is bound upward).

    What I did:

    • Touched the BIOS.
    • Damaged the machine.
    • Disassembled the machine somehow.

I'm full of ideas on what else to try.  I had the PC for more than a year and has a problem similar to that in the first months of her own, I think it's something to do with the power supply cable (a friend looked for me), but he managed to make it work back again.  Unfortunately I am no longer able to contact my friend on this problem, so I am completely in the dark.  Help would be very appreciated (please avoid some specialized terms as I am a little one recruit across a company PC fixing).

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Thank you for your response.  Fortunately, I can offer you a solution to my own question!  In my view, a windows update 10 can occur during the last stopped that I made.  The update I think doing something to the BIOS that was the issue.

I did the following steps and managed to get the display to start working again:

    1. Turn on the computer and press the F10 key for eight seconds.

  • HP Envy Sleekbook 6-1111nr: Monitor cable defective?

    Hello

So I repair many conputers and this is the first time that I have encountered this problem and I'm looking for some advice.

I bought this laptop with a broken screen and I'm trying to fix buit I have an inssue.

When I connect the new monitor to the laptop I can see the backlight of the screen lights up, if I can manöver screen so I can see I also have a picture of reguklar. The screen seems so very well.

When I try to put the screen in its place to screw it into the screen becomes black. If I apply some pressure or pass the wire in a certain position, the image will be back. I don't think that the wire pins are clicking in the new screen. I tried little Ribbon for pressure and which seem to help at first but after 10 minutes of use that it happened again.

I replaced a certain monitors before and I never ran on this question, I usually just pop nine in and its fine.

Do you think the connector on the side of the laptop could be broken or possibly the new monitor side. Any help would be great,

  • VESA compatible monitors?

I really have a problem to know which monitors Acer have patterns VESA (75 mm or 100 mm). I spilled by sheets, but this information does not appear to be there.

Does anyone know how to find out which models are compatible VESA and which are not? If not, perhaps a list of all monitors that have the VESA option?

Sometimes I can eyeball on the photos, but I still can't see well. I'm really only looking for monitors that can be wall/arm mounted - I need to know which ones have this option.

    Thanks for any help!

  • 750 - 140z envy: envy 750-140z is compatible with AMD RX 480?

Envy - what is compatible with AMD RX 480 750-140z? I guess I should also upgrade the PSU?

    Hi there @NicholasBraden,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!  I understand that you are looking for advice with an update of the graphics card. I'm happy to give you a helping hand with this.

    Using the following sources:

HP ENVY 750-140z computer CTO product specifications and configurable options

HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - specifications of the motherboard, Orchid3

    Radeon™ RX 480 graphics card - amd.com

    Your system has a PCI Express x 16 (Gen 3.0) slot and a power of 300 W.

The specifications of the AMD 480 RX do not have some details that I'm normally looking like minimum power supply requirement. On the contrary, it shows typical Board power of 150W, which is not a list of peak power.  It also does not indicate the number and type of additional power connectors are needed, or the generation of slot PCIe required.  However, your motherboard has gen 3.0 I mentioned already so it's not likely to be a problem.

So having a typical power consumption of 150 W for the card and to be sure, assuming that your system uses near the 300 W provided by the existing power, you're looking at least 450w for common use.  I suggest to go much higher than that, probably more to 550-600 W for a replacement hard drive, but you want to know what additional connections are required and ensure that the food get you has those which are available in both the type and the number.

There is no guarantee that any parts added to a system will be compatible, and as it is your system is not compatible if only on the question of food.

Please let me know if this is useful, and if it does not solve your problem, please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.

  • HP Envy 700-074 custom ' mode "Eve"

    1. Windows 8
    2. HP Envy 700-074 with monitor from 2005.
    3. Keyboard and mouse wireless
    4. 2005 via USB HP printer (don't know the model right now, I'm at work)
    5. The screensaver is the folding at home screensaver.
    6. HP Envy bought in February 2014.

The computer enters mode "Eve" from one day to the next, or I hit function-SleepButton. Monitor goes into mode with a yellow economy light energy.

When I try to wake the computer via the keyboard, the monitor is from yellow to green, which means that the PC is a signal, the fans of PC and the light is on, but the screen remains black.

Tried to update the bios by using this link , but I get an error every time:

"This update of the BIOS is not compatible with this unit". I think it's BIOS has not confirmed the update via msinfo32. BIOS version is still 80.15. Option to upgrade button is gray, this button on the same BIOS update screen as 'Save BIOS to flash drive' and 'Save BIOS file.

The issue is not that the keyboard is not set to wake up the PC, as the monitor light goes from yellow to green, when I type any key of the keyboard. Which indicates that the PC is a signal.

    What are my options here?

    Thank you.

Your update to the newest BIOS would not go. So I installed all the updates Windows 8, including those in option, and it seems now out of fashion 'sleep'. Thank you.
