HP Envy 15 notebook PC: recovery Partition HP after the passage of Win8.1 to win 10

I've recently updated to Win8.1 (original factory-installed) to win 10.

Everything seems to work very well (a few bugs here and there, but nothing major).

My question is about the factory recovery partition

I studied the forums and it seems that if I used Recovery Manager to recover, he would recover back to Win8.1, not the current installation of Win10

(1) can you please confirm that the HP recovery partition / recovery manager will recover only to Win8.1 and has been upgraded not so?

(2) how can I get a recovery to redeem to Win 10?

-is the Recovery Manager / partition "stretchy"?

-Should I do new media recovery (should I use Recovery Manager, or who would do only Win8.1 media)?

- or should I use https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

(3) every time I do the recovery media Win10, so I can delete my restore partition? (using Recovery Manager option to do this)

My computer is still under warranty

Thank you

Chris

1. Once installed the old partition recovery W8-W10 no longer works without some fiddling with serious.

2A. There is recovery for W10 built into the operating system, type 'Settings' in the search bar, and then view the settings, then click on "Recovery" tab, this is where you can do a reset for W10.

More information about reinitialization, see link below

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-10/repair-recovery

2B. the recovery partition can be updated to W10 but requires a lot of geek who can't be mentioned here and definitely not worth the time and effort.

2 c. a Yes make your recovery from usb disks using this tool of creation of media.

3. Yes

You already have your recovery W8 media while W8 was still installed?

How to upgrade my hp restore partition?

recently, I have windows 8 and the recovery on my laptop is also 8.

every time I updrage my laptop at 10 and accused of some of the problems I have restore my laptop so I'll be back 8

so, how do I update my recovery of hp so when ever I restore my laptop so I won't be back 10 8

    Hello

Unfortunately, the real HP recovery Partition can not be updated, and cannot be used to reinstall the OS that originally shipped with the machine - which is in accordance with Microsofts oem T & Cs.

However, as long as your upgrade to Windows 10 has previously activated Ok, you can perform a new installation of Windows 10 as stated in the guide on the following link.

  • HP Envy X 2: laptop recovery partition (D) merged with another partition, not be able to create a recovery media

I have merged my restore partition HP with another partition I created. Data recovery files are still intact in the New Partition. I have not created a recovery media. When I tried to create the USB Flash Drive recovery using recovery HP Manager media, I get the message that "recovery partition does not exist. How to get again the merged recovery partition and create a recovery USB Flash drive. If simply copy data from recovering files to a USB flash drive will work as a Bootable media in the case that need if in the future.

@joy1964: should not have done that.  Messing around with the OEM partition somehow good enough recovery ensures it won't work not later, when you need it.

Personally, I don't trust recovery integrated systems in any case.  You want to be able to recover from an image stored on a disk system large capacity Flash DRIVE or external.  In this way, if the disk fails, I can restore a functional system within minutes.

Consider using a third-party product known as Macrium Reflect this.

Macrium reflect (MR) provides a FREE version that can be used to image and restore partitions or drives together.

What I recommend is the following:
    (1) download and install Macrium reflect (MR)
    (2) run M. and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition (s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB key
    (3) use the option to create a CD or a USB startup key

NOW, you have the means to restore a full system that works for the external hard drive or USB key in a few minutes.

AND... you no longer have the recovery partition at all and can reuse that space for something else.

    Hello

Recovery media, I am referring to disks (or flash drive) that you create yourself using the Recovery Media Creator application on your laptop - you can create it once, so I would definitely recommend to do.  A guide on the creation of this support can be found on the following link.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/product/HP-envy-X2-11/5296226/model/5336701/document/c03481733

This support will reinstall the operating system, all the drivers, all the original software (including applications on the start menu). They will also recreate all the original scores.  A guide on the main ways to perform a factory reset using a recovery or support of the partition recovery (including a video preview) can be found on the link below.

  • Cannot turn on FileVault 2: "some disc formats do not support the recovery partition" version of the OS - 10.11.4

    Hello

I went to turn on FileVault encryption for the first time, and when I click on restart (by FileVault guests) I got a error message that says "FileVault can not be enabled for the drive. Some disc formats do not support the required encryption recovery partition. To use encryption, reinstall this version of Mac OS x on a reformatted drive. »

I found an article from apple support for this problem with El Capitan who recommended first aid running in disk utility.  I tried this but then received the same error message.

    a little history:

-Mac OS 10.11.4 installed running on the brand/model ADATA SP 550 SSD

-This SSD is a 250 GB drive partitioned into two, with one of these partitions being my OS

-J' ran this BONE of a Bay external thunderbolt

-ssd is formatted as HFS journaling +.

I am really confused about this error message and couldn't find much online about it.  I use a fairly recent OS install.  I installed the operating system clean and made all my preferences and install so that I can encrypt and then back up this pristine OS environment in time machine so that I could always go back to it on the line in case where things are bunk too upward.  I'd have to install yet another OS to clean and do all my long software installs and system preferences settings... SIP.  I don't know if that makes a difference, but this version of the OS that I have been cloned by superduper to this SSD partition.

What is the brand of SSD that I?  Might that matter?  I appreciate all the comments.  I'm really scratching my head...

    Thank you very much

To enable FileVault, you need a recovery partition, which you don't have. You can create one by reinstalling OS X.

If you do not already have a current backup, please backup all data, and then reinstall the OS. * you don't need to erase the boot volume, and you won't need the backup unless something is wrong. If the system has been upgraded an earlier version of Mac OS X, you may need to the Apple ID and password to use.

There are ways to back up a computer that is not fully functional. Ask if you need advice.

If you installed the runtime Java distributed by Apple, and still need, you will need to reinstall it. It goes the same for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.

Related support article refers to OS X 10.11 ("El Capitan"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later versions.

  • 3110em: HP recovery partition exists, but the recovery of the system in the grayed out Recovery Manager?

I have a hp recovery partition on my laptop, and I want to recover my PC.

I go into the Recovery Manager, windows system restore is available, but the HP system recovery is grayed out and unavailable.

I don't know what to do, is partition recovery for windows 7, but since I upgraded to Win8.1, I had a lot of problems, and I want to go back.

Please help me if you can.

The system recovery option means that it seems to be corruption or another problem with the score of recoveryt.

As is the case, then you would use the recovery (USB or a game disc) media, you have already created to perform the recovery.

If you have not created a recovery media, you will need to order a recovery USB stick (preferably) or a record of recovering HP or HP partner. The cost is usually about $30,00 USD

Based on your response, I did a new search for the drivers of your PC, based this time on the product number that you provided, instead of the template information in your thread title and found very different results!

Here is the link for the drivers and software page: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-ENVY-TouchSmart-17-j100-Notebook-PC-series/5425742/model/7415743

The Intel driver you mentioned matches on the page - so I have no idea why you get this error message.

Have you tried to download and install the Nvidia driver?

Given that your PC is so recent, I suggest you contact the HP customer directly and have them put you in contact HP Technical Support.  If all goes well, they can solve the driver problem, you meet with.

  • Recovery partition exist but the RESTORATION is not possible

    Hello world

I have a problem for my laptop (Dell XPS 15) recovery. I have the RECOVERY partition on my computer with all the files... all together 7 GB including Factory.wim. During execution of the restore process, described millions of times on the internet, I've not found an option with "DATASAFE."... "neighter"restore to factory State. I tried different ways, but the main thing is that the COMPUTER does not see the FACTORY.wim. I get notification indicating that the IMAGE file was not found. What could be the reason and how can I solve this problem.
Thank you very much for all the feedback.

    Damian

    Hello
Sometimes, the problem is solved by the person who posted it... and when his ppl makes you forget the forum.
Therefore, here. I had a partition that had all the files recovery. But, as mentioned previously, I could not restore to factory stage.

What I did was copy THE FILES from the recovery partition RECOVERY (there is a folder named Recovery) in windows-> recovery... or as long as the file is placed in your computer... I had to look it up.

Bottom line is I search in MY COMPUTER the EXACT files that were contained in the file Recovery on a recovery Partition and replace them. (of course, to make a copy in CASES WHERE). When I started computer even once, I could already click the ICON of RECOVERING FACTORY...

YES, it WAS so SIMPLE... and no HELP DELL MOVE FINGER IT...!
    Hope this works for you

  • Recovery partition back after creating discs?

    Hello

I have hp dm4 3002tx windows 7 64-bit. I created the recovery disc, and now I want to remove the recovery partition. So my question is that, again using the recovery disks will be the reovery partition back or he has completely disappeared?

And also my laptop comes with HP - Tools Partition whose size 3 GB I don't know most of the laptops as dv6 comes with hp-tools with 200 mbs size but my have in the UK. I think that it contains all the drivers what the reason for this, I should he deletes or not. And if I delete it how it can be recreated?

    Hello:

The recovery discs should recreate all the things as they are now... Partition operating system and programs, recovery partion, tools.

Only, you can recreate it using the recovery discs.

  • Partition recovery system fails after the first start

I just purchased and receive the laptop next: Pavilion DV7-6C95DX. I went through the Setup program and then created recovery DVD.

After playing with him for a short period, I decided to try to restore to factory using the recovery partition and F11 State when starting.  This started the Recovery Manager, which (according to his Checklist), reformat the Windows partition, copy the files required and restored the file on the hard drive.  Then it prompted me to restart and complete the process, which I did.

When starting, it reported that he immediately reported "Windows could not start...". "Status: 0xc000000f... a necessary device inaccessible."

I pressed Enter to continue and the screen says "choose one to start operating system... "and he only gave me the option"[active EMS] Ramdisk Options"choose it brings back me to the previous screen and so on.

So, I tried using the recovery media that I made earlier.  Who started Windows and Recovery Manager reported the following: "this computer does not support the system recovery media. You are not able to restore this computer with the media"there was a code below that read"0110-A6X02UAR #ABA - A6X02UA #ABA"

Apparently, there are two problems - the reecovery partition does not work and the recovery media does not work.  I don't know if they are related, but in all cases, the computer is now unusable. It's less than a week.

Thanks in advance for any advice to fix this.

    Hi Lance,.

This error can occur if there are USB devices or media attached to your laptop cards.  If this is the case, remove all connected to your laptop then repeat the recovery process.

If the above is not relevant, I would try the following to rule out a hardware problem.

Before you try the following, make sure you can read the activation code on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

Assuming that it's just a problem of software with the recovery process, it is a job before right around if you have (or can borrow) an installation disc Windows 7 at retail which is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - IE if your laptop comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, it comes to version exact commercial that you would need.

If you don't have access to a retail disk, you can create an installation disk yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

    http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-Windows-7-by-phone.aspx

Additional drivers, you may need to find from here.

If this also fails to install Windows, I would simply return the laptop to the retailer, he bought at and get a replacement while you are still on time where it is an option.

    Kind regards

  • I how to remove the recovery partition and make the entire hard drive, a recovery partition?

I have two hard drives and the two have a recovery partition. Disk 0 is disk 1 80 GB and 500 GB. I want to remove the recovery on both partition and drive 1 recovery partition. Disc 1 is much older, but I would have preferred free space on disk 0.

The "recovery Partition" in question is not a thing of Microsoft.  Ask that ever created it (the manufacturer of your computer) which will probably help you not because it's beyond their desire to do so.

I suggest you create / have external media and numbers of series/product key in another place course of the computer itself.

    Hello

Open windows control panel, open programs and features, make entry for HP SimplePass right click and select uninstall.

When this has completed, restart the laptop.

When windows has reloaded, download the version of HP SimplePass on the following link and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp71501-72000/sp71729.exe

Once the download is complete, open your downloads folder, right click on the installer SimplePass and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.

Once again, when this has completed, restart the laptop.

When windows has reloaded, open windows control panel and on the top right, next to the display by: select "large icons".  The new layout, select the HP SimplePass entry and see if you can set your footprint digital log - on.

  • How recovery will work after the new clean install?

I have a dv7 - 2177cl comes with Vista Home Premium 64-bit.  I'll do a clean Windows 7 install, when I receive.  What I've read, the recovery partition will be useless after that. I made the recovery disc for Vista.  My question is, once that Windows 7 is installed, do the new recovery disc that he will restore in windows 7 or should I return to the conditions of the factory first with Vista recovery disks and reinstall Windows 7?

Message edited by blgray on 01/12/2009 12:44

If you perform a clean Windows 7 install, you would not need the partition recovery. You need not use the Vista recovery unless kit until you want to go back to Windows Vista. Post successful Windows 7, drivers and any software installation required like you, I would say that you take a backup image of the C: drive so that you can recovery back to this work State of Windows 7. You can use Windows Backup and restore of Windows 7 to do so.

  • Bootcamp partition unusable after the failed kidnapping attempt

Hi, I'm having a problem with my Imac, for reference, it is a model of 2013 with an Intel i5, 32 GB of ram and a 250 GB ssd.  I got it initially setup with a partition boot camp of 100 GB running windows 7 but windows encountered problems and wouldn't start.  I used the boot camp assistant to delete the partition, but after being run for awhile it has failed, and when I looked at the disk utility, is more showed the boot camp partition and only recognizes the 100 GB of space.  Now I have a 156 gb hd mac.  I saved my partition mac with time machine with the intention of all of the disk formatting and reinstalling Mac OS but from the start in my installation key USB, disk utility says it can not access the part of the fuser unit and looks like he lets me only format my mac of 156 gb partition.  I'm stuck and I would be grateful of any advice to recover my hard drive!

    Thank you

Just to clarify, you have an SSD or a disc Fusion? You seem to indicate both.

I recently bought a HP Envy Phoenix 810-000ec PC with Windows 8 x 64 pre installed. After I received it, I ugraded to 8.1 Windows x 64 and installed all necessary updates. But when you try to create a recovery disk I accidently deleted the entire recovery of the bootable SSD partition. Is it possible to undo these changes in return? As I have now a 13.5 GB unallocated disk SSD 120 GB of disk space.

I tried to google the question a bit and I managed to recover the partition lost with - MiniTool Partition Recovery. So my problem is solved now. Thanks for the reply anyway.
