    Hello

A problem that has been doing worse and worse for me was that my PC turns off completely after a short period of time, now about 1 hour. I used to have the same problem, however, it turns off after 4-5 hours, and after that it is completely stopped for a few hours, he'll be back to normal. I read that dust accumulation can be a problem, although I see no dust in the vents. Do you advise me to open the computer and dust off the fan itself inside the computer with compressed air? Or are there other possibilities of dust collection problems will not fix?

  • HP ENVY 17 G0U21AV - is there a way to disable the fingerprint reader?

    I use a HP ENVY 17 G0U21AV 8.1 Windows.

This model came with a fingerprint reader in the lower left corner of the computer. Although this seems to be a nice feature, it is not one that I plan on using (I use LastPass to my passwords). I keep my Palm on the scanner that will bring to the top of the screen for HP SimplePass accidentally part traffic. This can come from the most inopportune moments, and it can become quite annoying always trying consciously avoid the fingerprint reader.

Is it possible to disable the fingerprint reader?

    Thank you.

    @DSWJoshua,

Thanks for posting. You can disable the fingerprint reader. For completeness, I'll give you steps to disable the driver itself and the biometric support, so you should not worry about this later.

To disable the driver, go to control panel, then Device Manager. Expand biometric devices. Right-click on the sensor of validity and uninstall it.

To disable biometric support, go to the Control Panel, biometric devices then. Uncheck allow users to log on to Windows using their fingerprints, and then save it.

  • HP Envy 15 - q47002 i7: laptop overheating, does not recognize any USB. Even in the Bios.

    Hello

I bought this product last year, so my warranty wore off.

My laptop is overheating and it is very slow at this point (even videos are not working well). I tried to clean it up but it was without result.  I want the game and computationally intensive applications, but I'm afraid of the motherboard or hard drive failure.

Now to the point. I can't install the new OS, any OS because this laptop doesn't have a DVD player and it doesn't recognize any usb 2.0 or 3.0.  I tried to change the options in the Bios and I tried to uninstall and install the drivers (they are up to date).

What should I do? I can't install a new system because of this problem, and I can't use anything more demanding than youtube which is really annoying since this laptop has good specifications.

I am currently running Windows 8.1 which I got when I made a purchase.

    I hope someone answers!

    Thank you.

EDIT: In the Device Manager it says device not installed with yellow exclamation point. By Usb or ext hdd. And it will not find the device-specific drivers. As I never need them on another PC or laptop.

    Hi @HarunC,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question about your HP ENVY 15 t-4710HQ i7 Quad Core Notebook and questions with serveral fuctions works do not. I recommend to restore the default BIOS settings. You could restore the BIOS with this document by selecting the reload the default BIOS settings. In this way, it will look at the hardware installed on your laptop.

With the USB not recognized by Windows.  Here is a link to solve the USB connections.

I would like to uninstall everything cited first in the list of universal serial bus controllers.

Please note remove any and all USB devices and remove the memory card in the slot of the card reader. Disconnect all non-essential devices before you uninstall the controller Universal serial bus.

Restart your computer, and then insert the USB device.

You can try to use the Windows Update Troubleshooter to fix updates that do not come through Windows.  Please restart the laptop twice to make sure that all updates are completed!

  • ENVY 17 3D - no overheating, no surprise, but suddenly the CPU is too

Since HP has really managed to kill the line of envy and merge it with the Pavilion dv line, brand envy low poor quality material pavilions, I still use my old, real envy 17 3d 1195ea apart elitebook workstations brilliant, because his only able successor, the 17 line 3200, is no longer available for purchase , and something more recent (envy j# line) is low-middle-end consumer crap.

now the line want 1000 overheats as soon as it is powered on without news, I could manage quite well by opening to the top of each month and cleaning inside, same repasted CPU & GPU some 3 months ago, making the time decreased by 10 degrees in general.

However, since a few weeks I meet some really strange and excessive overheating of the CPU (although the 5850 m GPU was overheating mainly of firs to date).

It is idling at 65-85, but with each burst (happening several times a second), it reached 99 to 100 degrees for a fraction of a second. That is to say. times are constantly jumping up to 100.

pull up something really stressing, as a game (CS - because its bound processor) or an application with emphasis on the CPU, makes the scope of the CPU 100 degrees in less than 1-2 minutes, leading to the heavy restrictions and ergo great performances.

even strongly linked to the GPU games keep the GPU at 90-95 degrees (from my experience in the past, during bad weather the GPU begins to 104 degrees, so no question of limitation at all), while the CPU gets up to 100 and the throttles.

now my question - is the only explanation for what the thermal paste has become dysfunctional? That is to say. repasting it would solve it?

or else maybe the reason for this?

    Thank you

OK, repasting has a job well done. now, I'm back at temperatures around 85-98 for two, CPU GPU & under medium to heavy load. Surf and light load remains at 70-80 degrees.

so I can't tag this thread as resolved, even if only a 'real' solution would be a different cooling system, IE. a second fan heatsinks more/more thick, Gill more...

or a REAL new Envy 17 3D, IE. no desire to brand pavillion.

  • HP envy m6 1184ca overheating

Hello, I bought this Hp envy m6 1184ca for a year. It has 8.1 windows. Given that I started to game overheating computer then close the bottom. I want to know if it is possible to speed up my fans as when I Flash the BIOS or do something not close. Oh, by the way, I have never overclocked this laptop and I have a block of cooling with fan. Help, please.

    Thank you.

    Good night

These sugerencies were useless. Surfing the web I've read about the replacement of the thermal grease from my laptop and it worked 100%, that my temperature dropped 20 degrees. When I open the thermal grease has dried, so I cleaned and succeeded him. Also, I cleaned the fan, but it wasn't that bad. I hope that this solution applies to someone else with my same problem. SIMPLY REPLACE THE THERMAL OF THE CPU, THE GPU AND TWO SINKS, YOU WILL NOT REGRET.

    Thanks for nothing HP "assistants".

  • HP ENVY sleekbook 4-1025tx OVERHEATING!

my HP ENVY sleekbook 4-1025tx overheating when the laptop is connected to the charger it has reached temperature max 85 cel. the laptop starts to cool down as soon as I unplug the charger until it reaches 50 degrees Celsius. can someone guide me on what causes this overheating.

can someone say solution for this problem?

P.S. I use the laptop at end of game

    Hello NaaniSurya,

The laptop is overheating when you plug in the charger.

Start the computer in safe mode by pressing F2 and select Safe mode, see if you still have the problem in safe mode.

If you do its hardware and you will need to have the motherboard replaced.

If you don't get the error, you can try updating the BIOS from HP.com.

Here is a link to updates. You will need your product number.

If updating the BIOS does not help. You can try a system restore. This will eliminate any software is causing the problem without affecting any of you files.

Here is a link for a restoration of the system.

Last resort, you may need to perform a restore. This will put the computer back to factory settings.

Here is a link for a system recovery.

I would like to know how everything goes.

  • HP ENVY 700-406: overheating CPU

I have a HP Envy 700-406 with an A10 - 7700 k and a GTX 750ti graphics card.  When I am gaming, making a video, or any other task intensive CPU, HWmonitor reports time in the range of 95 c.  I know that it is extremely dangerous to operate a processor at this temperature, but the BIOS doesn't even crawls any fans when the cpu is this hot.  No idea why?

    @Wheatfield, welcome to the forum.

The first thing I would do is update the BIOS.  Here is the page HP Software and download driver for the motherboard.  There are three available updates.  You must use the update SSID: B 2 17 motherboard.  Here is what solves the update:

    Fix and improvements:

    -Improved CPU fan curve.

-Fixed issue where information "Data Execution Prevention" incorrectly show under OS Windows 7 after you disable "Data Execution Prevention" in the BIOS Setup Menu.

-Improved security of the UEFI and variable code. HP recommends strongly quickly transition to this update to BIOS version which supersedes all previous versions.

NOTE: Due to security changes, after installation of this update of the BIOS, previous versions cannot be reinstalled.

The first point, it's what can help solve your problem.  You should be extremely careful to follow the instructions when you perform the update.  A failed BIOS update can brick your computer.

The next step is to download one of the many applications that will allow you to adjust the speed of the CPU fan.

Please click on the button + Thumbs up if I helped you and click on accept as Solution If your problem is resolved.

  • Envy of HP Dv7t 7200 overheating

I bought my laptop 2 years ago and until about 2 months ago, I never had a problem like this. My laptop will become extremely hot, even when I'm not playing and it will burn me when I try to use it. I tried rotating the vents and it still overheats. Is there a way I can fix this and if so is it a hardware problem or software (is it dust or something in the system of operating computers)? Thank you for your help.

my laptop is a hp Dv7t-7200 want:

What is happening here, this never used to happen?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have brought my laptop to a cell phone repair store and they cleaned the vents with a special compressed air this kind of thing and corrected my stupid mistake to turn off the 'fan always on"setting in the bios. now, my laptop does never go beyond 70 ° C when im making browsing internet and other things and never beyond 80 when playing games. It also won't heat scalding preety hot or even more once they fixed it. However, the only question that I still have is that the laptop will break randomly but much less often than before. I don't know if this is heat related or something else but I "whocrashed" of the dump file analysis and he said something about the module "ntkrnlmp.exe" causing the problem. IM wondering if I can prevent the computer from crashing by using this information and learn specifically what is causing, any help would be appreciated, I am close to completely solve the problem, all that's left is preventing it from crashing. Mabey, it implies the copy on non-corrupt file with a version, if it gets corrupted indeed (one of the things that someone did to correct a similar error, I saw during a search on how to fix this error)

  • HP Envy 17 3D Notebook PC overheating (LM126AV)

Sorry for the mistakes of English, I'm Brazilian and I speak Portuguese.

By the speakers of my laptop did not work last year, so I sent him the assistance of HP in the USA, I am of Brazil, has solved the problem of the sound, but started another defects before ran games generally heavy, now open a portable game overheating (reached 90 degrees celcius) with two minutes of the game and continue it stops to protect themselves.

I restored to factory settings a few days, updated all devices and readers, everything is normal in Device Manager, hp support assistant accuse any errors.

Normally as overheating even watch a movie in 1080 p, the most intriguing is that this happens even without overloading the processor or memory, I have several silkscreens of the CPU usage, memory and temperature monitoring equipment.

I'm looking for help here because my warranty will last another 10 months, and I have a lot of problems to return this laptop back in the United States.

    Hey there,

I would first check to make sure that all the vents on the laptop are free from dust, fluff and other debris. Also, make sure that the computer is on a flat surface, where the winds have a lot of traffic. If the computer is sitting on your lap, it will prevent any air from entering the ventilation openings and causing the computer to heat upward. Here are a few links that go into detail on the computer is overheating:

Let me know if these links help to solve the problem at all. If not post back with new details and from there, we can continue.

Please ensure that you have the latest version of BIOS and drivers installed. You can run HP Support Assistant and update your drivers and BIOS in particular. After doing that and you still experience blocking problems. I would say in support of HP to set up a service event.

  • Envy 15z-J100: failures recurrent speaker

My problem and the fix looks like this: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/HP-Envy-15-3040nr-Sound-Stopped-working/td-p/2673061

I've been systematically uninstalled, place, reset, reboot on average 3 times a week since May. And I became very effective home by the practice, but not effective enough for that to be a satisfactory solution. The issue has become much too disruptive, and I need a more permanent solution.

The problem is that the speakers will fail completely, although headphones with MIC still works. It is generally during the execution of applications that play many voice samples, although extended playing music with lyrics or movies with the dialog box are not always the cause of the problem. These failures of speaker accompany abnormal overheating and more to the left of the Board, go round around the power button and the spread in all directions, especially under the laptop through the keyboard. It is probably close to the graphics card and processor, but the GPU use seems to have minor bearing on instances of failure.

Cooling of the air around the laptop delays but does not prevent the failure of the speaker, and as you can imagine, it became a hack expensive during the summer. I cleaned the vents with compressed air and therefore the restriction of air flow electronic cleaners would not exacerbate the problem.

All the drivers are all up to date, but another audio driver would solve this, or perhaps remove Beats Audio installation?

    Hi @enkephalin07,

You were technically brilliant. It has been a privilege to have worked with a person of this caliber and technical skill levels. I tried everything I could think off to correct the situation. In addition, the problem occurs intermittently and you need to go through the boring of hard reset process and the rest of what you describe in your first post is in and functional. You need to do periodically which means that there is more to what meets the eye, and with a material question could perhaps be corrected.

As a last resort, I actually spoke please contact the HP support by phone to get the computer repaired for questions that you currently have with it. Please try to do it at your convenience. I really hope that things work out great for you and the machine remains healthy for a long time to come once you have repair.

To simply say thank you, please click the ' Thumbs Up ' . If you need more assistance let me know and I will gladly do whatever I can to help.  You take care now and have a nice day ahead.
