HP Envy 5644: Photo prints using far too much ink.

I just bought this printer today.  When you print on regular paper, it prints just fine.  When you print pictures, he uses a ridiculous amount of ink so that the paper is still damp several hours later and so stained, is not recognizable.  I use HP photo paper supplied with the printer and the cartridges that came with it.  If I can't get this resolved I'll take back to the store for a refund.

I'm getting the same problem when Windows 10 printing than printing from my iPad.

Thank you for taking the time to answer.  I use HP Advanced Photo paper, it came with the printer.  I went through the process of re - load the paper and the verification of the configuration of the printer.  I realized that I had previously inserted the paper upside down, so it was printing on the back of the paper (my previous printer had photo paper loaded in the back, so it was the other way around).  Once corrected, the prints are very good.  Thank you for your help - I am happy that my muppetry has been solved before I took the printer to the store that would have been even more embarrassing.

  • Officejet HP ink usage statistics (printer uses too much ink)

I was using a HP Officejet Pro 8500 (Inkjet) printer for 3 years. I think the material is very good, but I had a lot of problem with his dirvers Windows, software, and firmware. I think (hope?) that my extreme use of ink is linked to that as well and can be fixed. Because I realized that the printer uses a lot more ink (4 + times as much) that she promises in both marketing and on its own web page administrator, I started to collect statistics. I print mostly b & w with the project and normal settings using mainly the black cartridge only.

I published my stats in an excel document and made available for eveyone to expand. I would like to know if you have the same problem, are - that for 8500 owners or General for all HP printers or are - it just a firmware issue?

Please feel free to check my stats and extend it with yours if you like too get an overview

Andras_Fuchs, very well observed, but I have a few to add. HP printers have built-in surge arresters, and these surge suppressors have capacitors that, even though the printer is saving energy or off, protect the printer by storing a small amount of power (a bit as a reserve water stands behind a dam that blurts out one percent of the water any water is behind the wall). In this case, the printer is likely to store 11W of power and then releasing this power through the circuit. Most power adapters work this way.

I hope that explains the gap!

  • HP Envy 4504: Envy 4504 photo prints too red with print quality = better

    Hello

    I hope someone can help.

On my HP Envy 4504 photos are printed OK print normal quality, but when the print quality is set to best photos are printed to the red. In addition, with DPI Maximum printing photos are much too red.

This takes place two times printed on paper Normal and on Photo paper

With the GIMP, I tried to make an example of how a photoprint looks like.

I made the example by changing the color Balance: Red cyan - about + 40:

    (my GIMP is Dutch...)

    Here is the result:

LEFT: Photo printed in normal quality; Photo on the RIGHT printed in better quality:

I have already completely remove the software HP Envy and did a clean reinstall. No change.

I have print-head - cleaning cycles (2 times); color of HP-testprint strips looks very good: all are strong in alignment is correct

Unfortunately: No picture change in best quality still too red.

    The ink levels are okay.

Any suggestions what is wrong and what can solve this problem?

    Hi @Kees-Jan,.

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I noticed that your HP Envy 4504 prints photo is too red with print quality = best on Windows 10 operating system. I'm happy to help you!

Where a setting is disabled, with GIMP, have you tried to print photo quality with other programs? If so, what happened?

You use genuine HP cartridges or refills?

None of your ink cartridges are low or empty?

In the meantime, please make sure that all the steps in this guide, fixing poor print quality are executed. And let me know what happens!

Thanks for posting and hope to hear from you soon!

  • What current photo printers use the 178 cartridge ink?

Just take a big lightning hit on my HP Photosmart Premium all-in-One aging and it is a write-off.

Problem is I have about a dozen unopened 178 ink cartridges in a drawer and certainly not want to throw away them.

Are there current HP photo printers that the 178 - and they are all good? I was reasonably happy with the Photosmart Premium (C309 was the model), but there are certainly better machines to print only one photo on the market.

All-in-One or photo only? Photo printing is the priority n ° 1 (amateur, not pro level), followed by regular printing, even if I have another older HP machine which can take care of the day-to-day things. Then comes the scanning and copying. These days, I find I'm using fax very, very rarely...

No matter which input received with gratitude.

    Hey there Chris

There are a number of printers that take the HP178. Take a look at the Photosmart printer Buying Guide. Something like the series PS 5510 I think would suit.

In any case, have a look at the guide and if there is something more that I can help with just let me know

PS - this guide is intended for the United States you may need to change the location of the country in order to get the right printer model no.s (they vary slightly depending on the region)

  • Photosmart 5510 "disabled" related "to the use of too much power.

Printer worked fine. All of a sudden when I turn on the printer, I get an error message indicating that a device has been disabled because it used too much power to the computer via the USB port. I receive a message within printing itself was to say that the printer is offline or not connected, but it is connected properly as it always.

I restarted the iMac (10.7.5), uninstalled/reinstalled the printer software, disconnected/reconnected the cables, tried other USB ports... done everything I can think of. The message I get on the "device" does not specify which device, but I get the error message whenever I push the button 'on' on the printer.

I don't have a wireless so that is not involved. It seems that the printer is permanently "disabled" due to too draw on the Mac? Never heard of this and they need to fix it!

When you try to setup assistant to reinstall the printer is not recognized, even though I know that it is properly connected and turned on.

Any help very graciously agreed. Thank you.

    Hi Katecrimson,

I understand that you use a Photosmart 5510 with an iMac and you get an error indicating that a USB device drew too much power of the computer, so it has been disabled. I will certainly do my best to help you solve this problem!

What you have described, and what I could find online, it seems like it might be a problem with the USB cable. I would recommend that acquire you another cable to the printer and try this. I would recommend that once you say USB cable, disconnect whatever it is what USB connected to your iMac, it reboot and then proceed to connect all the devices back, leaving the printer until the last. With a new thread, you must run is no longer in this error.

Hope this helps, have a nice day!

  • HP Envy 4500: HP Envy 4500 - photo print half off the page. Print very well.

All of a sudden, my HP Envy 4500 failed to print all the images; documents continue to print OK.  For photos, the printer acts like it's works fine to start, but print only about half of the photo on the paper - it seeks to print the rest on the back of the photo a lot of ink rollers...

Research forums, this is the EXACT problem I have:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/inkjet-printing/HP-envy-4500-prints-only-half-of-the-photo/TD-p/3781222

I have uninstalled/reinstalled drivers, try to print from a different computer, laptop and even tried what was suggested in the post above - to copy a picture of the scanner on the printer itself.  Who printed still only half of the picture...

The consensus from the link above was a hardware problem.  My printer is no longer under warranty, so unless there is another thing I can try I will buy a new printer.   This one isn't worth it for me to pay to ship somewhere to remedy.

Any last suggestions until I have this gift to local traffic (with a note that it only prints documents)?

    Hi @JPotter,

  • printer uses too much ink

Hi, I have a hp officejet 4620, bought in December 2013, but not installed until my previous machine ran out of supplies in February 2014. Hp uses a phenomenal amount of ink! I am now on my 4th black xl cartridge and my 3rd series of color inks since the end of March - about 5 weeks. A pack of 500 sheets of paper that has been used in part when I installed the printer is still about a quarter of full, so I think I printed something like 200 sheets maximum during this period. I especially feel like letters and other things, so am more likely to be less than 20% to an average of 5% coverage. Assuming that my 200 page number to be correct, it gives a figure of "cost per sheet" of 35.5 pence or 57 cents in terms of USA.  This is done for 10 times the hp figure suggests is the probable cost per page for 5% coverage.

Can someone help before I buy another printer? Thanks in advance. Steve

@countrygent which is great news to hear, I hope that you the new printer works well and more problems let me know.

    I work for HP.

  • Too much ink on the series of photos B209a

When I bought the printer in July, he printed clearly crispy fantastic photos.  I tried again in September and since then, out of the picture with head globs ink PIN and it never dries (not that it is important at this stage!).  I had replaced the original black cartridge in September but do not remember if it was before or after my ink first peak of blob.  I was wondering if someone could help understand what I need to do.

The Kodak paper, I have tried in the past tended to take a long time to dry (days or more).  HP Advanced paper should be ready to run right out of the printer. I suggest to choose the HP Advanced Photo paper in the driver selection and try printing on the paper.

The standard black cartridge is not used when printing on photo paper if that is likley a coincidence.

Are you printing from a card camera or computer?  If from the computer which program are you printing from?

  • Exchanging ink - new printer uses a different former ink

    Hello

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem.

I bought hp ink cartridges for my old printer through hp.com since I bought the printer about 6 years ago.  I worked from home 3 days a week and used my printer very often.  For the last year and a half that I have been on disability and the printer has not been used much.  He just died on me so now I'm moving buy another.  I decided on a printer hp again and was sold online (no HP.com).

I had 3 cartridges not open my old printer and called hp to see if they traded the ink in my new printer ink since I bought HP ink only.  They said that as the printer did not buy from HP.com, they exchanged not these cartridges.  However, if I wanted to send the new printer back and buy at hp (at a much higher price than what I bought to) the same printer, they could then swap the ink.

I think that's outrageous.  They can check my order history and see how much I've bought from them.

I want to send this return printer and buy ANOTHER brand of printer so I don't give them $1 more of my money.  Their ink cartridges are so costly it may be.

  • Office Jet 4630 uses too much ink

I bought an Officejet 4630 to replace my Deskjet D1420 on 23/02/15.  Already, I went through ink original, no surprise and another pair of regular size cartridges.  He was not yet 2 months!  My old D1420 would last six months on a pair of ink cartridges.  I set the printer to print in draft mode from the beginning.  When I mentioned to HP, they were without help.  They asked me how many sheet printing and I couldn't tell them, I don't really know.  As sophisticated as this printer, I don't see any information on the number of sheet.  Is there a way I can retrieve information about the number of sheets I printed?

I found the solution.  I printed a "status report".

  • audiodg.exe using WAYYY too much CPU...

A few days ago, I was using my computer as usual, and I noticed that my laptop was running slower than it normally does. I tried to watch several YouTube videos and the video played very choppy and generally slow. I am writing this, this problem is solved, but at the opening of the resources on my laptop monitor, I noticed that 'audiodg.exe' used about 65% of my CPU! When I didn't have any big program running, so I immediately set to find out what it was, only to discover he had something to do with my audio. I have no idea why it uses so much CPU, before that I didn't even know it existed because I have not had any problems with him. I tried several other solutions to this and nothing helped. And so, here I post this question: "Why use so much CPU"audiodg.exe"on my laptop, and what I can do to stop it?

[Already solved the problem myself to restore the system to an earlier date]

  • keyacc32 using way too much CPU

Whenever my laptop hp goes to sleep and I restart my CPU usage jumps to about 90%, and when I look in tast Manager, the file "keyacc32.exe" uses about 40% of the CPU. I do not use software keyserved when this happens, so I don't see why it should be so high.

I guess I got some kind of malware, is it possible that I can fix or check this file which is reliable? I don't want to download a malware program that is also a malware, and none of my existing programs (Avast and Symantec) detected no problems.

They have a free version you can download Malwarebytes (www.malwarebytes.com). That will eliminate this problem.
