HP Envy Phoenix 850: HP Envy Phoenix 850 - optical drive add/upgrade

Hello

I'm looking for one of the new HP Envy Phoenix 850 models and ask yourself it is possible to:

(1) add an additional optical drive? I have a spare Pioneer BDR-209EBK, (W148mm x H 42.3 mm x D180mm)

(2) or replace the DVD SuperMulti HP standard burner (probably this one, which is THIN; H 12.7 mm x D126.1mm x W128mm)

The marketing material says "busy; external drive bays One available,"but looking at the photos in the 'upgrade and Guide service' I can't identify where the additional drive would be, and how it would be accessible.

from the front panel.

The new models look slick, but if I'm not able to add/replace the optical drive, it may be a no-go - and I have to stick to the last years´ 810-models - or a competitor.

Thanks in advance.

Any 12.7 mm mini-SATA Blu - Ray writer will work.

Just drag on the engraver of DVD and sock it to its place. You may have to port on the front, but this isn't a huge deal.

Yes you can. Here's the part you have to do with. Just remove the optical drive, add a hard disk in one of these adapters and replace it for the optical drive:

    https://www.jacobsparts.com/items/HDDBAY-02/

You may also need to swap the façade of the old optical disc to make the installation of good look.

I wouldn't use this for one SSD. An SSD belonged to the main disk space to enjoy the speed. The drive into the optical drive adapter will not be bootable and it will be not given quite as fast as the main hard drive transfer speeds. So if you have a drive in this card, a big (1 TB) and slow (5400 RPM) drive would be preferable. It will be purely for storage and it is still fast enough to see the video of for example but if you are doing video editing I would try not to edit videos from the optical drive Bay. Move them to the fastest reader first.

  • can I install an SSD on an optical drive in a HP Envy Phoenix

I just bought a custom HP ENVY Phoenix Desktop - 810-350se CTO with a Raid 5 (3 x 2 TB) configuration, but I noticed and did some research it seems that it's better to have an SSD installed for faster computer access data, of course, I want to use for the operating system installed on it.  So I have two questions?

(1.) I can change the configuration so that I can add a SSD on an optical drive? (This will be the 4th disc). Since I already use 3 HARD drive on a Raid 5 configuration and there is no more space on the left, I guess I can only use an empty space of optical drive and install a SSD?

2.) is there a limitation on the number of readers and HARD disk can be installed on the motherboard?

My proposed solution is to keep the 3 HARD drive and install a 4th disk (SSD) on the optical drive and use it to the operating system (Windows 8.1).

    Recommendations or suggestions is appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hello

Your PC is already using a bootloader of Windows 8 and if you load the SSD in UEFI mode, then you will add an another boot loader of Windows 8 for the menu eligible boot device.  This will lead to confusion.  I suggest that you avoid this situation by trying the following procedure:

    1. Don't forget to create the external HP recovery media
    2. Install the SSD on port 1 or 2
    3. Disable startup secure in the BIOS and set the legacy mode
    4. Start the Intel OPROM and rebuild the matrix RAID 5
    5. Boot into the BIOS and UEFI mode
    6. Start the external HP recovery media and load the SSD drive (SSD recommended size is 240 GB or more)
    7. Once you are currently running and then go to disk management and upward and format the matrix RAID like TPG

The above procedure may or may not work, but that's what I would first try.

  • HP Envy 350 changeable x: drive DVD No on more than $800 wanted, I bought.

I didn't know when I bought my HP Envy last winter (more), it did come with a DVD/CD player.   I assumed that all laptops came with them. If I had known that there is no, I would not have bought the laptop.  Burning DVDs and games are a fun thing for me. How in the world can you download some things to the laptop if there is no CD/DVD drive?  I don't know much about computors, but for me that this is was an epic disappointment... I will never get my money on this laptop and I can't certainly allow me to replace it.  All I can do about it?

Buy an external CD/DVD drive that plugs into the usb port.

  • HP Envy m6 Sleekbook-external optical drives and Windows 8 compatible printers

I just bought the HP Envy Touchsmart K025-DX from Best Buy m6.  I admit that I did a lot of research and I forgot to check if there was a built-in optical drive.  However, I like this laptop because it fit my budget.  I just want to know if I can use any compatible DVD/CD ROM external external external drive CD/DVD/drive or if it is better to go with the HP brand.

I thought to return the laptop to the store and try to buy a new one who already has an internal hard drive built in... but think if I add an external hard drive... he wanted me to return this product.

Also I realized that I probably need to upgrade my HP printer as well as my current HP Officejet j4500 printer software is not compatible with WIndows 8.  Advice and suggestions are appreciated...

    Hello

You can use any external USB optical drive on this laptop and the printer, you can download the drivers for Windows 8 if it is available in the hp.com. Simply search for drivers by putting the search box in top right where it says search Hp.com.

  • HP ENVY 750-177c: I have a HP ENVY 750-177c and has been upgraded and 2 thin black wires were disconnected.

I have a HP ENVY 750-177c and has been upgraded and 2 thin black wires were disconnected from the motherboard.  They have loops at the end of the wires that look like they might slip on the pins.  The wires connect to the upper part of the box of the computer.  Where to reconnect?

Find this card in your system. It is the M2 half-bridge Wireless card.  The other end of the wires must always be fixed.  There are 2 heels left and right of the '2 '.  If everything is correct, it is your physical WI - FI antenna. Just re - stick inside the case.  The small clips are used for an external aerial connection.

  • Envy Touchsmart Ultrabook - boot from Usb Flash or optical drive

I just this envy Touchsmart Ultrabook (14 inches) with 8 win and it works very well, but one thing that I can't make it work is to be able to boot from a USB stick or a cd usb player.  This system doesn't have a built-in optical drive.

I changed the configuration Bios Boot UEFI for Legacy and also re arranged the boot order so the USB drives are before the internal hard drive.  I also tried to change setting USB 3 auto... still not able to boot from a usb device.

Both the usb flash drive and cd drive to boot on my HP desktop and I recently tried the usb flash drive on a new laptop Lenovo comes with Win 8 and it worked.

I need to do so that I could run my backup - Acronis True Image software.

Any suggestions on what then try?  Thank you.

Yours is a laptop very different mine - so this may not apply... but you can try what I posted here: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-Notebook-PC-Questions/bios/m-p/2260991

  • Envy Touchsmart 15-J144na: HP Envy material of hard drive Kit

    Hi all

So I am desperately looking for a replacement hard drive cable for my laptop. (Envy Touchsmart 15-J144na)

HP part number is 718432-001. (Directly from repair HPs)

I tried the company I used to use FAE Supply Chain and after taking the money, they said two weeks later that they do not have, nor can they get it, for having issued a refund!

I am now hunting around but with very little success.

I only really need the cable, but fortunately buy any combination of products and parts to get to the bit, I want!

I'm self-employed, so that each day that passes that I lose money.

If anyone knows of any good company in the United Kingdom (or even in the world, im not picky!) would be great get your suggestions.

(Prefer original HP parts, but I can't afford to be more fussy!)

PS I tried all the companies on the site Web of HPs for the part and none of them have or even know what part im speaking of! (With the exception of Europarts EET I'm waiting for)

    Thank you

  • Laptop HP ENVY 15 t-k000 CTO: add additional SSD for HP ENVY 15 t-k000 CTO Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR)

    Hello.

I have my laptop new HP ENVY 15 t-k000 CTO Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR) yesterday itself. He already have writer BRD. Can I replace my BRD burner with extra HD SSD? If yes what is the procedure for that?

You can, but you shouldn't. The port for the optical drive is a SATA-I have the interface. Slower than the port for HDD/SSD. So if you want to just add storage put a regular mechanical training in an optical drive adapter. Also any drive in the optical drive adapter will not be bootable. This will help you:

    Hello

While you can certainly add another HARD drive in the Bay of secondary drive (you must also support and the connection cable) you can't boot from it - only in the Bay of primary HARD drive is bootable.

  • HP ENVY 850se Phoenix: HP ENVY Phoenix 850 DVD Drive

    Hello

I just bought two HP ENVY Phoenix 850se computers.  I would like to return the DVD drive on one of them, 180 degrees so the axis to the other sense.  I studied the material and can't really tell if it is possible.  It seems that the bezel for the reader includes a curved upper part if it complies with the case.  I can't determine if this piece is 'readable' or not, and I thought that I post and ask here before tearing into it.

    Thank you!

For those who follow along, the DVD player can not be returned because the bezel attached only one way.

  • HP Envy Phoenix h9-1355: map graphic upgrade in HP Envy Phoenix h9-1355 [7770 Radeon Radeon R9 series)

    Hello!

I have a HP Envy Phoenix h9-1355 with graphics of AMD Radeon HD 7770.

I want to upgrade my graphics card a Radeon HD 7770 to a series of Radeon R9 390 - preference. I want to do this especially because I want to connect multiple computers on struggling Display Port (DP) and my current Radeon HD 7770 card has only one exit of DP.

    I have a few questions:

1 can I switch to the R9 series and he'll be back in this Office Tower?

    2. is it easy or difficult to unattach the old card and set a new? Requires an expert and if someone competent enough can handle this task?

    Thank you!!

P.S. is there something else that should I worry about (e.g. from unexpected side effects) to make this update?

    Hello

I'm confused about your statement to "'connect multiple computers ' to display ports."  Did you mean to say you want to connect several monitors via the ports of the display on your computer?  I think that's what you hear.

The ASUS TURBO GXE 960 is a nice graphics card. I like the provisioning of multiple DP.  The ASUS card should work in your PC.   If you plan to run a large number of monitors high resolution then you should consider a graphics card that has a larger memory.  The tests that I reviewed during the execution of the 4K displays with modern games isn't all that favorable with mid-range graphics cards.

  • HP ENVY 15 t-j100 Quad Edition: upgrade of the current HARD drive

I have HP ENVY 15 t-j100 Quad Edition laptop which currently has a 1 to 5400 RPM HARD drive. I'm looking to upgrade to SSD drive and need help with the following responses

    (1) the laptop does support more than 512 GB since the laptop computer maintenance document lists (and does not) support max 512 GB

    (2) any 2.5 SATA 3 SSD should work with the configuration given my laptop as long as its not more than 9.5 mm thick. Please confirm.

I was chatting and asking for a response for the last month 1 HP support and I have not received a positive response. Forums suggest that capacity any no where like the cat and people on HP customer service gave the following answer.

The manual list only up to 512 GB because that's all there was when the laptop was sold or just would not be a market for the 1 TB SSD. Not too long ago, they were $7-800 and beyond almost anyone means. But there is no reason that your laptop can not run a 1 TB SSD. Also, you are right. All SATA 2.5 inch wide SSD will work as long as it's not more than 9.5 mm thick. These days, almost all of them are 7 mm. I would recommend a Samsung 850 Evo but there are a lot of good ones out there. We had a set of trouble on the series MX Crucial reports, however.
