HP G62-371DX laptop power problems

Hello, I have a HP G62-371DX laptop.  I bought it in 2010 and about 6 months ago it stopped loading the computer.  I bought a new electric cord thinking that was the problem.  This has not fixed my problem.  I put it away and decided to not worry about this, and now I'm trying to understand my problem.  Here's what he'll do.  With it plugged in and with the battery in the computer it will charge, but very, very slowly and I never think of a full-fledged State.  The light next to the power cord on the computer will stay orange and then after a bit it starts flashing white, then repeat.  Once the battery is pretty cool, you can run it for a bit.  It works very well after it starts, but won't stay long due to the workload.  If I take the battery, the led remains white brilliant until I try to start, then he will come out and repeat this process.  Without the battery, it does not start at all.

Any ideas?

Thank you much in advance.

Another thing I notice now is that the light next to the power cord stays on even with the computer off and the power cord out?

Was the power adapter replacement is guaranteed to be compatible with the laptop or is it a device identical to the original?

There may be a circuit of power management failed pay-per-view system, the origin of the problem. I'll wait for your answer to my question.

Since you are able to start Windows have you been able to use diagnostics in the HP Support Assistant to know the results of the test of the battery? It is in the power of the HP Support Assistant section.

Best regards

  • G62-220US: G62-220US laptop power supply problems

Does not charge the battery in the laptop intermittently, and the laptop intermittently won't start when the battery is low or taken out and the AC adapter is connected.  HP Diagnostics said that the battery is good, but reaches the end of its life and should be replaced soon.  What I found with troubleshooting, it is that when the battery is charged, the computer starts up and seems to work fine.  However, I found that the computer sometimes shows that the power adapter is not plugged in and recharge the battery even when it is connected.  For example, at the present time it is said that the battery is at 67% and the laptop is unplugged.  When I run the HP battery check it says the battery is working properly and that it currently pays.  I have the AC adapter is plugged in, the light by the power supply cord is white.  What I found online said that the light must be yellow when it is plugged and charge and white when it is plugged in and fully charged.

My two question... first of all, is there a way to solve problems in order to determine if the problem is with the AC adapter or with something else inside the laptop?  Second, if I do not need to get parts for the laptop, like a new AC power adapter, where can I go to find out what part numbers do I need and where to order?

I have found a solution to my problem this weekend, thanks to finally learn how to talk to someone at HP support.

What I discovered with further troubleshooting, is that when the laptop is off and plugged in, the power light may be amber indicating that the battery has been recharged.  As soon as I would turn it on, the power light would become white, and the computer reports that it was not connected to current alternative.  HP recommends firstly that I reset the default BIOS, I did, but that didn't help.  The next step has been updated from the BIOS to the latest version.  It was a bit tricky, because the program doesn't make you that, while it is running on battery power, but I had made to tell things to do still.  After it was over, and the computer restarts, it of see the power adapter and charge the battery as it should.  Looks like the issue was a glitch in the software of BIOS, update to the latest version which fixed.

  • with laptop power problem

I have a problem with my laptop. I pluged in a power supply, but my computer flashes as if it is jumping off the battery power. I'm also losing strength of power of dough.

    Help

It seems to me that the charger is not plugged properly (check the connection) or your battery is going bad (if it is loss of power and charging do not when the system works on current alternative.)  Also, remove and reinsert the battery to make sure it is properly connected.  It could also be a bad sector adapter, but there is no way to really diagnose unless you have another who strives to test woth.

If this does not work, I suggest you return it to the manufacturer for service and for a possible replacement of the battery (or you can use a local computer repair shop good reputation, but it is unlikely that they will have a battery that fits).  You can also try just to order a new battery and charger and installin themt yourself to see if that solves the problem (and then determine what is the real culpruit.  If this isn't the case, return the batery and charger (or what we tested OK) for a refund and, if necessary, and then send the computer in diagnostic and repair - it may be a loose connection or something else went wrong - I'm not sure how these things are related, and I don't know that it varies from computer to computer.

This is not a problem of software of any kind - I'm reasonably sure it's one of the reasons that I mentioned above.

    I hope this helps.

  • HP G62 371DX: help! Can not perform the system recovery

    HP G62-371DX
A few months ago that my HP laptop was very slow, then crashed. I have factory reinstall using disks that I have ordered or purchased from HP. It was a time of recovery the first successful I used the recovery disks and after days of updates of the VICTORY, even was running Win 10, without a hiccup. Then, I received a few messages on the hard disk health and prominent failure. I decided to upgrade the laptop by buying a new battery and a HARD drive. When I tried to use system recovery discs to reinstall Windows 7 to factory State, it failed with an error:

    Copy the file fails
    From: F: \PRELOAD\BASE11. WIM
    TO: C: \RM\IMAGE| COMMODITIES11. WIM
    PRESS OK TO RETRY

"" He then reloads the "Windows prepares your computer for first use" MORE AND MORE. Could there be something wrong with the recovery discs?

    99girl

    Hello

You can try to see if the problem is with the recovery disks, would be to see if you can perform a new installation of Windows 10.

As you mention that you recently update from Windows 7 to Windows 10, a hardware profile on your machine will be recorded by the activation servers

Therefore, as long as the previous installation of Windows 10 had activated Ok after the upgrade to Windows 7, you can simply create the 10 Windows media on another PC and then perform a new installation as described in the guide on the following link.

Note: On the activation screen, select "I don't have a product key" - Windows will activate automatically once installation is complete.

  • G62-340US: laptop freezes constantly

    HP G62 - 340US Laptop, 3 GB, AMD Athlon II PC340 Dual Core 2.20 GHz, Windows 7 64-bit (product #XH066UA #ABA)

I just can't take more.  Since the first day, this laptop has been poor performance.  Hang in there too.  Takes forever to open a program or a browser.  Anytime you click anywhere, the blue spinssssssssssssss circle.

How can I reformat to factory settings if I do not all discs?  I don't think this will fix the issue because it was so out of the box.  I tried so many different things to boost performance (updated touchpad driver, updating the bios, remove the starting applications, etc.) but it does not matter.  I was going to upgrade the RAM 8 GB / 3GB, but I don't think that it should be considered to prevent him from hanging.

Just want to go back to factory settings and re - assess.

    Thank you.

    @Barbenae ,

Hello and thanks for the display on the HP support forums.

With a laptop computer hooked up here there's several reasons for this.

Have you cleaned your laptop to reduce the accumulation of things on the heatsinks and fans for the laptop can be cooled?

Have set you your system power settings?

Did you run the diagnostics of hardware BIOS to see if it is a RAM problem or hard drive?

If this is not the case, here are a few links to check.

Test a hard drive from BIOS

Laptops HP - diagnostic system (F2)

    PC HP hardware diagnostics

Regarding the recovery of the system, there is a link on how to do so.

  • On the Satellite P30-131 power problem

I have a power problem and I tried the process of elimination, but could do with help, I gave as much detail as possible and appreciate any help or advice.

This started a few weeks ago and seems to be deteriorating slowly.
I turned on the laptop and all 3 lights before the main power on fully charged battery light and light green...

I started noticing a few times when my power cord is plugged into the laptop that, without warning, the laptop switches to the battery power and also turns off power light, battery light turns off too but which may or may not happen, in any case the laptop is still on but now running on battery.

I then out of the supply cable and reconnected it hoping that power is restored, but it has no effect, I have to close then low laptop unplug then Pug back in and I get all 3 lights and then I can start.
Now, when I boot it does not always solve the problem and I can finish on a few seconds of starting battery.

Its certainly not the battery because it has a new battery replaced 12 months however, its either the adapter or the connection inside the laptop that plugs into the adapter.

The reason I think it is perhaps one of them is when the laptop going to battery, lead that is always plugged into laptop, I moved, and this can cause the return of t lights and also the laptop back in, power once again, but if I let go then it goes to the battery again one the light turns off. I also took the battery out and kicked and the laptop works but has lost the power sometimes when I moved it turned off my tour so I'm sure that it is related to the lead, but do not know if its internal or external.

    Any help or advice appreciated

    Thank you

What kind of help did you expect exactly?

    > Its certainly not the battery as it was a new battery replaced 12 months however, its either the adapter or the connection inside the laptop that plugs into the adapter.

It seems you have tested everything that could be tested using common control procedures, I think that more is not possible
I can provide also a few suggestions and I m coming to the conclusion that neither electronic power supply is not ok or your power adapter.
But I would tend to the first; electronic power supply.

As you can see that these are only suggestions

    Hi again,

I have a little problem on my Pavillion X 360, especially when I used it on battery - let the power of the battery is below 20%, so I connect to my laptop on AC power with cable and adapter supplied with this laptop - the problem, it's my screen change black screen, then the power led (front left side) flashes F6 button flashes too.

This condition run about 3-5 minutes, until I can normally - used after I filled my PIN code.

This condition is normally? Or should I bring it to the service center?

    HI @RED - X 360.

    Thank you for your response.

If you do a factory reset and your original laptop with Windows 8.1 which is the operating system that will be installed.  If you want that Windows 10 even once, you will have to redo the upgrade.

    Good luck!

I have 2 problems with this laptop.

    !. I have lost the power cable and bought an expensive one online step (model: PA-1650-02 c. input 100-240v 1.5 put out a(1,5A) 18.5V 3. 5 = a)

When I first plugg cord battery charge light came on the balance, then he started to come on and outside.

now its completely off, even with the power cord plugged in. on the lower right part of the screen its showing that cord is connected to the power supply and the battery is fully charged, but as soon as I unplugg the power cord or remove the computer cut right away.

the second problem is that the left mouse botton does not work, the work aside right very well. I went in the proprties to put it right, click on to, but who does not work either. I've updated the drivers but still nothing.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi aloum,.

    (a) what kind of mouse you are using?

    (b) the left button of the mouse seems to be stuck or it does not meet the click? This only happens with certain applications?

Step 1: Test the mouse on another computer or another mouse on the test computer

To determine whether the mouse or the computer is defective, follow these steps:

    1. test the mouse in question on a system that works, you know. If the problem appears to follow the mouse, you may need to return or replace the mouse.

2 test a mouse you know is working on the computer in question. If the problem seems to stay on the computer, then the problem is most likely related to the software.

In regard to the battery not holding charge

Battery problems are often associated with the battery itself. If you encounter this problem, contact your mobile PC manufacturer. If you purchased the battery separately from the notebook computer, contact the manufacturer of the battery.

  • Novice probably stupid power supply laptop power issue

I have a Tecra A4 and I have what is probably a silly question.

When the battery is running down what to cut first laptop before connecting it to the power of the transformer or can I just plug the / click on the talk button while the phone is still on?

    Hi Bill,

It is completely safe for your laptop to be plugged in, while it is still running on the battery. internal Electronics will take care of the passage back to the mains and your laptop power management software will change based on your settings.

Normally, it is recommended that you remove the battery (when fully charged) when running on the current, although generally, I leave my just in case a power outage.
