HP Officejet J3680 All-in-one: error message on the screen of the printer cartridge
The message in the window of my printer says cartridge error. I opened the door of the cartridge and makes sure that the cartridges were safe. Message on the screen of my computer says low ink. If the ink is completely out, the printer fails to print and display cartridge error? The cartridge is fairly recent, but it is a remanufactured cartridge.
I guess that if the printer who copied the cartridge was okay Then, I got a popup asking if I had problems printing with Windows 10. After several entries and finally get a prompt for HP Assistant something or other I was finally able to print. I guess that the printer was not recgnizing Windows 10. The complete software for the J3680 will not install on my new Acer Windows 10 PC (6 months). Ensure that the correct area is selected under Setup > Prefrences > Set Language & country.
If it is still not listed, the options may vary according to different countries and such is not supported by the printer in your area, usually the option should be available.

I followed the suggestion to use start > Control Panel > administration tool > services > print spooler > properties.
System in automatic mode but State of the said service stopped.
I get error 1075: the dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion.
Printer worked this AM, but stopped working between two print jobs.
I used Mr. Fixit to diagnose and fix the problem. Mr. Fixit indicates the print spooler service is not running, but cannot fix it.
Is there a source code for Windows XP service pack 3 which can be downloaded to replace the corrupted code?

The error message was THAT SYSTEM ERROR 1075 has occurred.
The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion.
If I need to reload the operating system, I have a back up saved on a hard drive.
Do you know what file (s?) needs to be recharged?

Unplug the printer.
Download and run the patch (cleaning printer utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.
