HP Pavilion 17z - f100 CTO: Dragon-fur

Hey Dragon fur - it's brush - 01/09/2015 - HP Pavillion 17z - PC CTO (ENERGY STAR) f-100

I had much trouble contact you - I was - for so now stuck long - stuck in professional sites IT cause me to be recognized by MS & HP as a COMPUTER professional - which I am certainly not - I have to get out of this situation - and remove all software and drivers my computer & all the connections to the sites HE and developer IE.  (Tech-Net), with the greatest ease - in order to re-establish myself as a regular user of House that needs a normal access to the daily duties - I need to reset my computer to default settings - maintenance of administrative settings and then restore myself as a daily user as a guest so I can't no further - by chance - muck-up the inner workings of my computer-

I'm a home user lost as a puppy in the tall grass and nobody seems to be aware of my situation or provide a loophole through-able - MY OS is severely mucked-up and preserve the pollution with outdated software, even as I tried to upgrade to Windows 10 several times now - guide please me to an exit door - there is much more to this story than meets the eye that I will detail in the future when you can contact me in a way I know it's you I talk with.

I hope that you get this preliminary message and happen to you - Dragon-fur - brush-

Joe,

I'm sorry to trouble you.

I can't in good conscience help you with migration to Windows 10 who don't yet myself did change to the new operating system.

I can understand your concern about your participation in various forums or public items - such status is how it works.   You may be assured that your social media status probably won't be encroaching on your 'real life '.   We all have 'another life '.  The smile.  Wear away and all that.

I can provide the following:

============================================================

The path normal to clean the system of "pollution" - and perhaps that would help your attempt to install then the migration to Windows 10 - is to perform the steps required to clean the system of files Windows 8.1 and then think like move forward from there.

According to the State of the computer now, you can choose the following:

-------------------------------------

  • Manual cleaning

Improving the performance of the system without adding memory (Windows 8)

--------------------------------------

  • Refresh or custom refresh
  • Complete restoration

Preparation for recovery

Backups

Back up all your personal files: photos, documents, whatever it is in your personal folders that you want to keep.  You can use the file history of the to do. be sure to use an external drive to which you send the data so that the information is safe and not on the appropriate computer.  For example, to use a connected USB drive.

You can also consider some of your backup on your OneDrive folders - it is easy to do.  You must be connected to your Microsoft account.  OneDrive Support

In addition, to make a second backup of your most sensitive data by copying your personal data to an another USB / disc - this time not using any fancy backup program - just copy the data on the disk.  "Most critical" data may include your favorite pictures, your personal import documents (Word documents, tax documents, excel spreadsheets, etc.).

Features of Windows 8 - a Quick Tour

See the section titled:

  • Easy backups of Windows 8 - if

This section is certainly a bit outdated - however, it may be useful:

  • OneDrive / SkyDrive - Windows 8.1

Programs

After you be sure of what your personal favorite and necessary, programs afford later install consider that these programs will be removed by most Windows recovery operations, and - if you decide to migrate to Windows 10, these same programs can cause problems during the migration process.  These programs include games, Microsoft Office (and similar desktop software), photo editing software, software administration of various types, everything that has not been installed on the computer when it was new.   Custom programs must be removed prior to migration to Windows 10.  Custom programs are removed during almost all procedures of recovery of Windows (with the exception of personal use of the updating procedure).

Short version:

  • If it is not installed on the computer, remove it before you migrate to Windows 10.
  • If it is not installed on the computer, it will be removed during recovery operations (mostly).
  • Trial software is removed during recovery operations, and is generally NOT recoverable.
  • You must have the means to install your personal programs - this includes the necessary license keys.

  • Opening of the Pavilion 17z-e100

    Hi all

I help my parents with their new laptop, a Pavilion 17z-e100 CTO. I searched here and everywhere else online for instructions on how to open the bottom panel access the disk hard/RAM/etc, but all I've found is for older models that do not work in my case.

I'm usually pretty good art to find this kind of things out, but since it's new, I'll be sure and ask around before you start to tinker. There is an obvious screws under the battery, but this deletion is not enough for me to take down the sign. Anyone know what I'm missing? There are a few teeny tiny screws in the battery bay as well, but they seem not at all related to this Panel. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply! You are partially right...

The screw that I mentioned is the only one keeping the Panel in place. Once the screws removed the Panel Slides down (front of the laptop) and then comes off easily. I tried to force upwards, but nothing loving or move. I can't believe that I didn't understand this earlier. I'm so accustomed to these panels lifting directly, but I like this design a lot more.

I hope that this information will help others with the same question!

  • How do you install memory in Pavilion 17z-F200 (part L2H13AV)

How do you install memory in Pavilion 17z-F200 (part L2H13AV)?

HP seems to have no guide available for this model maintenance. What is happening with this?

I took one the Pavilion 17z-F100 (sent by mistake). There not all removable panels on the underside. And the User Guide for 17z-F200 indicates that it will be the same (assuming that ever happens).

I'll probably have to remove the outer shell together to install the memory (or replace the hard drive, when the time comes). But, any laptop I worked on in the past had its own special place for screws hidden or something special to that of disassembly. So having an interview guide is a necessity to prevent the pests from plastic, clips, guides, mounts etc..

    Hi there @LeoOfMars

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, so many other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff. I understand that you are looking to find out if a video card is compatible with your information system. I'm happy to help you with that.

The main reasons to be sure of are normally feeding you, special (to THE) cable power supply for the graphics card, on the motherboard compatible expansion slot, the drivers for your operating system, another thing to know is the physical size of the map, for moments of cases.

Looking at the specs of your system and the motherboard by default, I listed the type of slot of power and expansion.

HP Pavilion Elite e9180t Desktop PC product specifications and configurable Options

Output power of power: 460 Watt

HP and Compaq desktop PC - specifications of the motherboard, IPMTB-TK (Truckee)

Two graphics PCI Express 2.0 x 16 (for graphics cards)

Go to the video card you are looking at:

    GTX 780 3072 MB GDDR5 PCI-E 3.0 OC Custom cooled graphics card

    Input power: 1 x 8-pin auxiliary input aux input 1 x 6-pin
    Bus type: PCI-Express 3.0 16 x

    System requirements:
Mother compatible PCI Express with a slot of chart double-width x 16
Power 600W minimum (with a minimum of 12V current rating of 42A) 3
300 MB of available disk space
2 GB of memory system (4 GB or more recommended)
Microsoft Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP Operating System (32 or 64-bit)
DVD-ROM drive or Internet connection for installation
DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort or VGA compatible monitor

So on a quick inspection of both devices there are three problems, so this card will not work on your motherboard or with the current power.

    I hope this helps.

  • Upgrade memory for HP Pavilion 23 - g040xt CTO all-in-One desktop

    When I ordered my

HP Pavilion 23-g040xt CTO of all-in-One desktop PC I could only afford the version of 4 GB of Ram. Now, I want to upgrade the memory up to 16 GB. I have a few questions

    1. I noticed all this in a use SODIMM and I was wondering if I could buy any DDR3 SODIMM for this or if I have to buy a specific manufacturer?

    2. now, I have only 4 GB using 1 of the 2 memory slots. I'll be able to buy 2X8GB and use this location empty on my motherboard and run dual channel?

    3. How do the memory locations? Just pop the back of all in one PC?

    Thank you

According to the specification, this model supports up to 16 GB (2 x 8 GB), as follows:

    Dual channel memory architecture
Two DDR3 SODIMM Sockets (204 PIN)
    Supports the PC3-12800 (DDR3-1600)
    Supports 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB and 8 GB DDR3 SODIMM

Any brand or model of RAM memory that meets the following specifications should work on your computer. If you have 4 GB in a housing, you will need to remove it to install both 8 GB DIMMs. Yes, you just need to pop on the back.

There should be two or more screws on the back that need to be turned counterclockwise until you hear each "click" of 5-6 times. Then, take a lower corner and lift the corner. Repeat with the other bottom corner. Now, lift the... starting back down. You may also need to remove a cap on the memory locations to access.

  • 2nd hard drive for HP Pavilion dv7t-4000 CTO Notebook - what do I need?

Hi, I have the HP Pavilion dv7t-4000 CTO Select Edition Entertainment Notebook (product # WV703AV). It can accommodate two hard disks but only came with one. What would need to be able to install the second hard drive? I need just a connecting cable or I also need to caddy or kit?

Also, would I get a solid state? My laptop that would support or should I just use regular?

Currently, I am on Windows 7 64-bit. I have a 500 GB hd (which came to be partitioned with hp tools/restoration).

Help with what I would need to a conventional hard drive or ssd would be greatly appreciated. I tried to look through messages of others first, but could not find anything specific to my model. Thanks for your time!

    Hello:

The only place I know where you can get a 2nd hard drive kit is that provider.

    http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?Main_Page=product_info&products_id=345

Your laptop should be able to work with an SSD, but I can't guarantee it.

I don't really see any point in adding an SSD unless you make the main hard drive, and to do this, you must get an SSD of the same size as the original 500 GB hard drive to use the recovery discs to reinstall the operating system.

Most people get smaller SSD and they use the W7 product key to activate a simple installation of W7.

If you can read all 25 characters of your product key for windows 7, you can do your own installation media and allows to install Windows on a smaller than 500 GB SSD.

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. The link below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

    http://download.CNET.com/Windows-7-USB-DVD-download-tool/3000-18513_4-10972600.html

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

Sorry if I put this in the wrong category, but it's the third time, I get this message on my computuer:

I got this message about three times during the past two weeks. What happens is that I will work on my computer, and it appears on the entire screen. My pc will then restart. Once closed everything. These two days, it went completely black and then go back to what it was - none of my windows closed.

    Can someone help me?

The error indicates the image is SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED (atikmdag.sys)

    Hi @Tsukimi,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion 17z Notebook and system unhandled thread exception. This is usually cause by drivers that need to be updated.

You can simply run the HP Support Assistant, and it will help with the software and drivers on your system.

If this is not enough, I would like to reset the BIOS withthis document by selecting the reload the default BIOS settings. Helping other people.

You can do a System Restore. System Restore will help if something is automatically updated and wasn't on the laptop. I recommend at least 3 weeks to make sure that you reset the question.

When running a system restore note remove all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices because they can cause problems.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you.

I have a HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC.  Due to a new job, I need to update my processor of the current 2.30 GHz (see exact specifications below, please) of at least 3.0 GHz.

Is there a processor 3.0 GHz there that is compatible with this particular computer? I called tech support and they told me they don't know. I don't know who else to ask.

This computer was purchased just a few months ago (before I got the new job). I really don't buy a new computer, if possible, if I can upgrade the processor in it.
