  2. double-click on customization, and then select display settings.
  3. click on advanced settings.

  6. click on apply and then click OK to accept the new setting and close the dialog box.

  Thanks for the post.   It seems that you have a problem with the settings of graphics card. Please answer the following questions, it will help us in the right direction.

  Do you know what brand and model of video card you have?

  Find the name of your video card is, and then go to the manufacturer website and download the latest driver for this video card. Make sure you get one that corresponds to your version of Windows 7.

  Most video cards have some type of control panel of their own which are accessible by right-clicking anywhere on the desktop. But without knowing what you have the video card, we cannot really talk about hardware acceleration.

  Should the adapter or the video card supports hardware acceleration and if the appropriate drivers must be installed.   If your graphics (video device) enables hardware acceleration, you can read the following steps to enable hardware acceleration.

  a. Click Start, click Control Panel.

  b. double-click personalization and select display settings.

  c. click on Advanced settings.

  d. click change settings on the Troubleshooting tab.

  e. move the Hardware Acceleration slider to Activate.

  f. click apply and then click OK to accept the new setting and close the dialog box.

  g. click OK to close the display properties dialog box.

  h. restart Windows.

  Hardware acceleration can be increased or decreased. It can only be enabled or disabled. It also depends on the graphics card. Some graphics cards do not support hardware acceleration.

  Please read the following steps to check if the graphics card supports acceleration hardware or not and to allow:

  a. on the desktop, press the Windows key + X and select Control Panel.

  b. in icons view, click view , and then click change display settings, in the left pane.

  c. click on Advanced settings.

  In the advanced settings window, if the Troubleshooting tab is present, then the graphics card supports hardware acceleration.

  The DVI does not support audio.  You must use a separate with the DVI cable audio cable. There are DVI cables that do not have an extra audio cable in the same sheath, but they are usually not sold in most retail stores.

  There are rumors on the net that ATI could have a special cable where some unused DVI pins were used to route the audio but that could also mean using an ATI video card. It would be a very strange configuration and not one I would recommend.

  You must validate the machine model and or the graphic chipset. If for example it's Nvidia then opening the Nvidia control panel and look for the PhysX inffo you will see if hardware acceleration is enabled or disabled at the machine level. Under the 3D settings, there are application specific settings. I would have thought that any game as installed will be enabled these features supporting GPU.   Most video cards have some type of control panel of their own which are accessible by right-clicking anywhere on the desktop.  But without knowing what you have the video card, we cannot really talk about hardware acceleration.  If you right-click on the desktop and you see something that corresponds to the brand of your video card, then go for it.  Other wise, right click on your desktop and properties, settings, then advanced.

  I was able to diagnose my problems with the new windows that open instead of tabs and expectant keyboard following the indications of support: start in safe mode, removing the hardware acceleration, reboot normally and... .no problem! I would like to know if it is possible to update the graphics drivers in Windows XP - pro before going through the whole process (I'm not a tech savvy type). My internet loading is already slow as it is, rural DSL speeds, but I rather just be patient rather than to tackle the constant keyboard problems that have been driving me crazy. Please let know us if it is worth trying to upgrade or not.

  Personal opinion, away from NVIDIA / GeForce video cards. AMD / ATI based cards seem to work better with Firefox that the GeForce cards based on the research I did in April for a new PC, I was building at that time here.

  No problems with hardware acceleration or Firefox on Win7 32 bit with focus on the AMD Radeon video card from ASUS that I installed (~55.00 USD). But with Windows XP, you may never be able to use hardware acceleration, 'new' video cards do not support an EOL as WinXP operating system, and those that do may not provide enough in the long term, as Mozilla continues to twist HA in Firefox.

  First: toshiba DOES not support any operating system server on their machines. You know the difference between a * LAPTOP * and a * SERVER *?

  If you know where is the difference so you can answer yourself why toshiba gives no support in this sense.
  The other point (to come to the technical part), is that you can probably install Windows Server 2003 on your computer. And you can search for drivers. But no one here could give you assistance, you´re completely on your on. (And NO, it has NO official connection :/)
