My hard drive went bad, so I replaced (just out of my warranty). I used my recovery media to get this operational return. I own 2 of these same patterns. I noticed one that I replaced the hard drive has a few new records I've ever seen before. They are also not on my other laptop g7. "FactoryUpdate" and "valorisation" are the 2 new files. They represent respectively 337 MB (107 files, 26 cases) and 343 MB (5 files, 2 folders). These are created when you use the recovery media? Are they necessary? I replaced my hard drive with an SSD, so space is at a premium. I want not things not required on the disc. Please notify. Thank you!

    Hi Sewsewbizzee,

I "think" that these records should have been deleted after the process of the recovery of the plant and they were not. It's you if you want to remove them or not.  Worst case, if you decide to remove them and that your computer is not working properly, you will need to do a factory reset.

    Good luck whatever you decide.

Hope you have a nice day!

I'm a little curious as to why you want to upgrade to a BluRay burner.

You can watch movies online without additional expenditure on this issue.

Here is a link to the guide for maintenance and Service of your laptop. He has illustrated parts list that gives the part numbers of the units that will fit your laptop.

You can upgrade to an SSD. It provides incredibly fast access times that make it a true performance upgrade. Consider buying an SSD in migrat kit which includes a usb cable to sata and cloning software. I highly recommend the Samsung and SSD Crucial players.

  • HP Pavilion e055ej-15 Notebook PC Craches in mode 'sleep'

    Hello!

I have a new (1 month of use)

HP Pavilion e055ej-15 Notebook PC with windows 8

Yesterday the HP Assistant alerted that I need to update BIOS, after that I did the update

    portfolio following problem:

Each time the pc goes to sleep mode (by closing the lid or pressing the power button)

He is not waking up - power light keeps on (laser mouse also).

but the screen remains black - and only brutal turn off (hold down power buttom) and restart the will

    put it on.

Anyone with the same problem/know the solution?

    Alex

What was the versionnumber to BIOS version that you updated?

Use the UEFI environment to restore the driver to the previous version.

Connect your power supply for laptop adapter before you do.

Press the power button and immediately press the ESC key to call the start menu. At the start of the menu click the F2 key.

Click the button on the Firmware management. In the next screen choose Rollback and in the next screen, choose now Rollback. The utility must restore only the BIOS to the original version and that should take care of the issue. I suggest you turn off the automatic updates of HP for now.

I'll bring the question you had at HP.

  • HP Pavilion g6-2298nr: when HP Recovery is not available... the system using Windows 8 as image backup?

I would like to start with a big shout out to Paul T for his VERY useful thread here!

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-operating-systems-and-software/Windows-8-product-key-for-pavil...

Family of a friend asked me to work on their laptop, because I know more about computers they do... they are people very well, was happy to help out, but true to form, like many PC users, they did not bother keeping the documentation provided with the laptop (HP Pavilion g6-2298nr), or they bother to burn recovery using HP DVD built in recovery software which is comes standard on laptops... If I am interpreting what HP's Web Site had to say about the laptop model HP Pavilion g6-2298nr, correctly, she is the serial number it is no longer eligible for free technical support and I have to pay a fee just to talk to someone and to order recovery of the HP DVD (family friend bought in Dec 2014 so it seems REALLY odd that I wouldn't be able to just order) DVD recovery without having to pay tech support a tax just to ask to order the recovery DVD!  .. But anyway...) ...

Where was the product key "integrated" in the BIOS really comes in handy!   I crossed my fingers, used the method mentioned in the thread linked above, and it worked!   ... have to admit it was a bit strange at first, do not use the product key sticker like the old days, but I can see how it works better in the long term - helps prevent piracy, you don't have to worry if someone who do not realize the importance of product keys thumbnail it takes off and he throws...

Unfortunately, it seems that when you reinstall Windows in this way, you lose the HP Backup and Recovery program ... in this case my friend family had the misfortune to pay someone to repair this laptop which has not bothered to tell them "Hey, I replaced the hard drive that goes wrong but if you don't get a laptop cooler for this sucker to the laptop just going to overheat again." ... of course, the money they paid what we call 'tech technician' who went down draining when the laptop fried a second drive hard, or maybe the tech them faced with a bad hard drive, who knows? (technology bought a hard drive OEM off ebay)...

... Sorry to sound harsh about this type of technology, I must confess I only worked in the field of PC repair for a few months more than a decade before letting him make a stay-at-home-dad (wife is a pharmacist so I'm lucky enough to be able to stay at home) so my experience is VERY limited compared to other people... but the back then I have always treated my customers the way I would treat a friend , and if it's a friend of you offer advice on the prevention of such problems in the future... this laptop gets HOT like you wouldn't, I seated him on a very reliable laptop cooler (slab thickness of aluminium which does a great job as a radiator with the fans, this one)

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16834953038

"(and I left my friend's family know in no uncertain terms that they need to order this laptop cooler if they use this laptop...).

Replace hard drive, I installed seems to work very well, but of course it is not an "official WD hard drive"... when I tried to install the software of cyberdirector photolink for example on the link below, received an error message "this is not a WD hard drive so cannot install this software"...

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-G6-2200-notebook-PC-series/5296082/model...

that is fine I really don't think my friend family cares about this program... but it makes me wonder, even if I did trust the download at this link below

    http://www.TechSpot.com/downloads/5190-HP-backup-and-Recovery-Manager.html

If program HP Backup and Recovery manager would work even first because it is not an official hard drive WD (I also ordered a hard drive OEM off ebay .. but does not support the family of my friend for the drive hard because they were good for my munchkins and did not want to pay through the nose for a more expensive hard drive so of course I tried to minimize my own...)... I also think the type of program is based on a "C" and "D" drive is set up as if it were when the laptop comes with the original hard drive and saves a copy of the backup on the disk "D"... I guess I could use disk management to create a different partition, label it "D" and see if HP Backup and Recovery work, but it seems a bit... questionable... not to mention that I feel uncomfortable to download something that is not directly on the HP Web site as an "official"... download

I know that Windows 8 has a utility of 'image system' built-in that allows you to do exactly that... an image of the system... as I said my friend family is good people, but I'm guessing that sooner or later they're going to screw up this laptop by pulling again as do many users of the computer... it would be nice if I could burn a system image of what is on the laptop now on DVD and hang on, then when they come back to me screaming in the future ' help, laptop does not work yet! I can just restore the system image on DVD instead of having to go through the hassle of reinstalling Windows, graphics/audio/drivers etc., zillion Windows updates and an etc. all over again.

What I was asking, that is... would this even work?    I have never tried to use the image of the system in a situation like this with the product being key ' built in ' BIOS, this kind of thing is brand new to... worth me burning the DVDs and hung their just in case where?

Sorry for the long essay and thanks in advance to anyone who actually takes the time to read all this!

    Hello:

Yes, which makes a system image will work.  I do it all the time.

PC GE set up the way you want and make the image of the system and the usb drive recovery you'll need access to the system image, or you can use W8 OEM disk made you (via the menu to repair your computer at the bottom left of the screen install Windows when you start from the DVD) to boot from, and access to the system image.

If you have the DVD you have to more than one.  Probably not less than 4.

But as much as to try to submeter a recovery partition, which is not going to work.

I am very surprised that you cannot order a set of recovery discs HP online at the link below, last line labeled order recovery media.  Some people have reported trying to enter information such as the serial number and the link is dead.  But nothing venture nothing have nothing.

If this does not work, you can have your friends order a set of this provider no HP...

  • HP Pavilion 15-p263nl: 2nd HARD drive cart, replace the optical drive for HP Pavilion p263nl 15 Notebook PC & Windows 10

    Hi all!

I intend to add an SSD for my HP Pavilion p263nl-15 Notebook PC. I found some sites that I can remove the optical drive and put a second drive using a caddy adapter in the optical drive Bay. I found that some people on the forum did it successfully, but nothing on my PC model. I want to know if he could work with my product.

In other words, there is my plan:

1 remove the real disk HDD hard bay and replace it with the new SSD.

    2. remove the optical drive and replace it with the adapter caddy containing my old HDD.

    3. do a clean install of Windows 10 on the SSD using a USB key recovery made with my real Windows 10 system (which has been updated from Windows 8.1 July 2016).

I already have a 120 GB OCZ SSD (OCZ Vertex 3).

I have a few questions before buying the adapter:

1 - the two drives (my old HDD and the new SSD) are recognized by the motherboard / BIOS and the operating system (Windows, 10)? Is there a limit to a unique HARD/SSD disk drive on the computer?

2 should. What size the card be? I found offers for 9.5 mm and 12.7 mm that are supposed to be suitable for HP Pavilion in general

3 - these parts work together and with my computer (size, compatibility)? You can expect any problems with this upgrade?

4 - clean install Windows 10 quote, because I intend to install it on a different drive than the one I used to create the key USB recovery flash? I have never done a clean install of Windows before.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

    Alessandro

p.s. in this section of the forum (where I took most of the post), the solution worked almost perfectly, but it's a different product of the Pavilion 15 ^^

    Hello

    1. Yes,

    2. your machines use 9.5 mm SATA Tray,

3 problem? I can't answer this question because who knows nothing until the track.

    4. I don't know how you create USB recovery but a good new installation should work.

    Kind regards.

  • G4-11125dx: USB Driver issues HP Pavilion g4-1125dx Notebook PC model #: LW342UA

    Hello.  I have a:

    HP Pavilion g4-1125dx Notebook PC

    Model #: LW342UA

When it has been upgraded to windows 10 I lost all USB functionality.  The Device Manager uses a driver, but it does not work properly.  "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller" and "Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller" have the yellow exclaimation points with the USB symbol next to them.  Under properties, it reads:

Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

    {Unable to load device driver}
HS device driver could not be loaded.
    Error status is 0 x %x

When I try to roll back the driver nothing is available.  When I try to update, it says I already have the best driver.  I tried the windows update and Easy Driver software but no luck there.

I confirmed that I do infact has power to make ports (USB fan :/) so I don't think that it is a hardware problem, especially since it worked before upgrade.)

I know that its a laptop older, but I upgraded the CPU to a quad core Phenom II N970 and this 'thing' is running if good, I do not give up on it.  Ethernet and wireless are working properly and there is no other troubled hardware issue.

    Thanks in advance,

    Cory

I tried to go back to windows 7, but I've been spending the period from 30.  The laptop is not the recovery disks, or a partition to do.  For the heck of it I advanced and reinstalled windows 10.  Now the USB ports work correctly so I guess it was something that happened during the initial upgrade?  Anyway thanks for your help!

  • HP Pavilion g7-2224nr Notebook: trying to Win Win 7 8, now need to return back

Sorry if this has been raised many times before. I looked around, but couldn't find something that helped.

Stupidly, I installed Win 7 on top of win 8. Everything works, except some drivers not settled. I've been looking around for Win 7 drivers, but only sites I've found look scammy to me, and they seem to everyone wanting money and data personal.

I don't know what the best course of action is here. Should I keep trying to find drivers for Win 7, or should I give up and reinstall Win 8? I do not have the OEM drive, so I don't know even how to do this.

Pride, pride, arrogance. It became me that HP does not have such a dirty trick. Looks like they are trying to force the consumer to switch to Windows 8, which is something I never had the intention to do so. But then I never had intention to switch to Windows 95, Windows XP (I liked, as it happened) or Windows 7 (with which I can now live).

Could someone help me please get out of this mess?

    Any help gratefully received. TIA.

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion g7-2010nr Notebook pc and two nights ago, I got a message saying "Windows detected a hard disk problem" and how do I back up my data and then repaired. So I tried it to my WD My Passport 500 GB external hardrive but as soon as he gets as 57% when the reverse said it will create a file system image, the backup fails I tired it three times to try different solutions I found on the help forums, but nothing helps and I don't know if maybe it's because the hard drive problem or another problem. Any suggestions are welcome.

You can back up by using HP Recovery which should not have problems:

  • HP Pavilion g7-2240us Notebook needs upgade BluRay player

I have a HP Pavilion g7-2240us Notebook and I want to install a BluRay player is an upgade that can be done on this model and have to be HP's BluRay player or any diving BluRay won't work.

HP part number, Blu-Ray/DVD burner drive (not Blu - Ray burner) is:

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

    See page 38.

HP is such a high volume that it is usually just as profitable to order the real part of HP from eBay.

This is a Blu - Ray burner that will work for $80:

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/HP-682750-001-Blu-ray-burner-BD-R-ere-DVD-RW-DL-SATA-combo-drive-G7-2000-/181289081492?PT=US_CD_DVD_Blu_Ray_Drives&hash=item2a35abda94

You will need to discuss your façade on this one which is not too difficult to do.

It's the Blu - Ray ROM only for less than $50:

    It's the front.

You need Blu - Ray movie playback software, but if you googled around a bit you will find sites where you can download additional files that will make the free VLC Player work with Blu - Ray. The recent multimedia packages like Nero will burn Blu - Ray discs if you decide to go this route.

I would like to start by installing the next update which addresses issues with the BSOD KMODE generally related to issues of USB 3.0: Update for Windows 8.1 (KB2887595)

You can check if you have already installed update by pressing the Windows key + X, select programs and features and by checking the box that says see the installed updates. You should be able to search the list for the KB number. If you do not see that the update has been installed, please install with the link above.

I also suggest to test your laptop in safe mode or on a clean boot to rule out the clutter of third party software. You can access the SafeMode in now shift to restart your PC and selecting troubleshooting option. From there, select advanced options and select the boot parameters. Click the restart button and you will be prompted with the start-up types once it restarts.

For a clean boot, follow this guide: How to perform a boot in Windows.

Also with regard to the high use of the disk. Windows 8 is a service that has a tendency to nibble a lot of use of the disc and does not really provide an advantage. The service is called Background Intelligent Transfer Service. If you open the list of services (Windows key + R > services.msc > OK) I suggest a right-click and disable this service for free from the use of the disc.

Let me know the results of these tests.

I have a HP Pavilion dv7 and my agreement now bad hard drive to the Geek squad. My problem is that I'm not able to find my recovery disc and HP has no more of them. Do you know where I could buy the recovery disk?

    The official win7 ISO images can be downloaded here;

    http://www.w7forums.com/official-Windows-7-SP1-ISO-image-downloads-t12325.html

You download the version installed on your HP, burn a dvd using ISO, software, the burning at the slowest speed, on quality discs, then install it using the Win Key on the label on your PC.

You will then need to install specific drivers of HP, not of the preinstalled HP software will be at your disposal
