HP Photosmart C4180 all-in-one: can't print or scan

When I want to print or scan the message "cannot print or scan" and "Scanner failure" happens...»

When I try to print the document will go to half way and then stops, same message arrives...

If I want to download and print something good, the printer works!... but again if I try to scan something then it does not work...

It happened all of a sudden, the printer and the computer have also worked well until this happened.

I may be low on ink, two symbols like a candle flame, are at the bottom left screen, but a copy or scanning must always be possible even if faded, or...?

Tried unplugging everything, but no luck...

Can anyone help? Thank you..

Since you said you the error message scanner failure, first try to make a copy and see if the belt scanner moves (moves the light) while copying.

If the light does not move that it's hardware, you will need to service the printer please call hp tech support.

    Thanks for the reply, expecting not one, but what you say is all that we need to buy another printer if we did all the "fixes", etc... etc. you know that take a printer to a repair shop will cost more

    then buy a new one.

    It was stupid of saying me to check on the warraty of HP page when I already told you that the unit is 5 years old.

    Problem is that half of the HP Update message appears saying that "an update is available. I want to download and install it now? "Rest of the message is missing. I want to say a choice of Yes or no. Would appreciate your advice in a few steps if possible, not too technical. Thanks in advance.

  • 7510 photosmart e-all-in-one does not print

    I had setting successful place Photosmart e-all-in-one printer 7510 when I bought first. Super easy to install and I print wireless all the time.

    I recently moved and tried to uninstall and reinstall the printer so that I could print wireless again. I did exactly the same thing to install because I did the first time and it doesn't work. I went through all the steps help and may not know what the problem is.

    1. the printer is turned on.

    2. the printer is certainly connected to the network. No problem found on the wireless network test.

    3. my computer is not connected to a virtual private network.

    4. the computer and the printer are on the same network. Name of the network on the wireless network test is the same name of network connected to my computer.

    5. There is no firewall does not block the detection of the printer.

    6. the wireless router is not in a bad state of operation. If it were, I would not be able to get online, right?

    7. I do not use the 'connect a new printer' resettlement.

    8. I don't know that I downloaded the appropriate software drivers.

    I don't know what else to check. The only thing that has changed is the router and the internet provider. I got the same laptop before I move. Everything works fine print/scan when connected via a USB port.

    You're not the only one having problems with the SBG6580.

    Your internet provider has other available modems?  (not motorola)

    I can't print my laptop.  I've never had a problem before, but it just stop working.  I tried to remove and reinstall my printer, but it did not work.  The only thing is when I check my network connections that my printer indicates "open" instead of connected. Could this be my problem?

    1. download and save the software COMPLETE features (do not install online)

    Please select the appropriate operating system.

    2 uninstall the software from your computer

  • HP Photosmart 3310 all-in-one does not print print test page doe but doesn't show is not black

    I have a printer all-in-one HP Photosmart 3310 that does not correctly print a test page (print color but not black) and does not print a WORD document from my computer.  The color that should be black in the test page after CLEANING print head appears as a Purple-ish Brown, although after the PRINTER SNAP the printed page shows a short BLACK bar to the left of the five longer bars in FIVE COLORS.  The computer in use is a HP Pavilion dv7 with processor Intel Core i7-3610QM, 2.3 GHz, Ram 8. 0 GB (7.9 GB available), 64-bit and Win 7 Home Premium OS, SP1.

    After having downloaded HP Print and Scan doctor, we arrived, after a series of steps to "If the cartridges have been refilled and none is empty, try calibration of color": Open HP Solution Center (start, all programs, HP, HP Solution Center), then click on settings, settings, printer Toolbox, printing on the tab device Services, click on color to calibrate.  This procedure is NOT AVAILABLE, however, because I can't find the HP Solution Center.

    What should I try to fix this problem?  Please be specific - and please also include any recommendations for a remedy that is exactly what happens if something must be verified or checked before trying the recommended remedy.

    Since the last post, I repeated the test several in Solutions of HP.  Whenever I have repeated the procedure clean print heads, improve the quality of printing in black ink a little bit.  After several passages of this test, maybe 5 or 6 more and separated by some rest of the time, the quality of printing in black ink has reached the State that I consider finally acceptable.

    A variable that I can't rule out or rule through all this is the temperature and the humidity.  It has been a winter VERY exceptionally difficult, with a lot more than zero days and subzero temperatures.  And with that comes challenges with the indoor humidity (even if we have the whole House humidification).

    In all cases, the printer now works without problem.  And I'll post that I accept the solution most recently proposed by the HP Forum.

    Wireless connection

    Until recently, I noticed that it takes a good 45-60 seconds to print. From the moment that I hit print say at the start of the printing printer.     It seems that the network communication between the PC and the printer has become lost or locked up.  The first step, I would suggest in this case is to perform a cycle of power to all devices in the network circuit.

    Follow these steps to reset your printer HP, your router and your computer.

    1. To turn it off, press the power button on the HP printer.
    2. Unplug the power cord at the back of the HP printer.
    3. Unplug the power cord from the wireless router.
    4. Turn off the computer.
    5. Wait 30 seconds.
    6. Reconnect the power cable to the wireless router.
    7. Wait 30 seconds, or until the router is completely ready.
    8. Turn the computer on.
    9. Wait for the computer to recharge.
    10. Reconnect the power cord to the back of the HP printer.
    11. Turn on the printer.

    I would like to know if it is able to get the question to be resolved,

    I just got a new laptop for school. I've had my printer for a few years now and I love it, never had a problem. I currently have Windows 7 on a laptop Samsung. I really need to get this resolved and I have no idea what to do. I don't really want to buy a new printer I can't afford when I have the right one perfectly well in front of me. All advice is appreciated, please help!

    I bet that the problem is not the port you are using then. I bet it's that drivers are not compatible with the version of Windows you are using. Here is a link to the right software and drivers. Try to use those and let me know what happens. Make sure that you only connect the printer to the computer until the installation tells you.

    I checked the import settings for the scanner and they were replaced also?

    I don't know how it could happen, because I did not do that?

    I have reset the import settings, and now it works fine.

  • Problem cartridge on a HP Photosmart C4180 all-in-one.

    The light flashes and the message says "ink cartridge problem...". Remove and check cartridge on the right... Refer to printer documentation ".» I removed the color and black cartridges and putting back them and the light continues to blink. When I got out them, it seems that I saw little ink below from whence they came. The color cartridge is new, but black is a few months old, but I've not seen a low ink warning. Should I buy one new cartridge black or is - this another problem?

    This gives a test:

    Powered up, remove the cartridges. Ensure not to spill ink where you set the down temporarily. Leave the door open and remove the power cord from the printer, once again while it is still powered. Wait at least 30 seconds, while waiting to see if you can sop delicately part of ink of the stalls with something as a buffer. Then reconnect the power cord to the printer and turn it on. Install each cartridge one at a time, close the lid between each of them and waiting for recognition of each by the printer.

    It is possible that the black cartridge could have sunk to the void, then it can be replaced. It is also possible that the ink flowed could interfere with the electrical contacts, that's why I suggested to clean this area. Hope that helps.

I unplugged the power cable already and uninstalled the software and installed again, but problem not solved. I get the message "the printer is used by the other program. What can I do?

    I came across your post about how you are unable to analyze after upgrade to Windows 10 and wanted to answer with my suggestions.

    First run Installation Wizard printer here: use of diagnosis HP for printers HP Windows tools

    After that, the feature complete driver and software must be installed for your printer on your computer. Try to scan the image. If there are problems, let me know all the details, errors, etc., and I'll do my best to help!

  • 7520 photosmart e-all-in-one: suite reinstall printer a few APPS are missing from the display

    Had to reinstall the printer after a total recovery of the PC. Now the screen of the printer of the APPs is different and now includes new but it I MISS what I used to use that (as I recall) is an application that opens a screen to set up a print job:

    NEW:

    "Scan to E-mail".

    "Get more" with an arrow pointing down, which does NOT respond to touch

    'Manage '.

    When I want to PRINT just something selections are ONLY BASIC paper without advanced formats.

    I tried the "reset default" for the display/apps/printer but nothng has changed.

    Well, I did that several times... total uninstall... total disconnect the router... AC... printer.  I'm rather informed with all this stuff, but the display remained the same when the reinstalled.

    HOWEVER... If I go in WORD I CAN run away with all the advanced options and that's all I'm really worried at the moment. So the books will print and time!

    Thanks a LOT for trying to help me through the glitch, and is for me a problem more as long as I can function in WORD where it counts the most.

    It seems that several people have lost their two-sided printing option, me is understood. Options have been suggested, everything I tried without success. With me, this is a recent problem. My printer worked perfectly ok with Windows 10 but now the duplex module is not recognized although showing as installed. Is there anyone from Hp that can happen to the top with a solution?

  • HP photosmart c6180 all-in-one: does not print because some cartridges are empty

    I want to just print in black and white, but because some of my color cartridges are empty it does not print.  If I don't want to use the color why is it important?  Please notify.  I can't afford a new set of cartridges of color... and I don't want to print in color, so it shouldn't matter!
