HP Photosmart C4780 - cannot operate wireless

I just spent 5 hours trying to implement a new Photosmart C4780, I bought for my mother.

I ran through the installation easily enough and chose to use the wireless printer. He took a series of measures, including the selection of my wifi network, enter the key security etc but at the last stage, it failed without explanation. I don't remember the exact message, but it was something in the sense of "the printer could not be completed.

I tried again and again to complete this and things seem to go from bad to worse.

1. now, when I reached the page "search for wireless networks" it shows without networks despite Windows 7 showing at least 10 networks in range. I have to manually enter the SSID details and although it seems to work, the installation still fails in the final phase.

2. strangely, the printer now seems not be able to start up. I unplugged it etc and when I turn it on the screen shows the HP logo with what appears to be a below progress bar. It's never happened that.

I desperately need to get this job because I won't be home from my mother to Spain for the weekend. HP support seems to be Monday to Friday only, which is not very useful and there is no way on earth she could do it voluntarily.

Any ideas on what to do next?

OK on the front panel of the printer: Setup > WIreless > start WPS > Pushbutton.  Within 2 minutes, press the the router WPS button.

This will connect the printer to the wireless network, then simply run again the HP software (Printer Setup & software) to complete the process.

    Hi hisfunbox,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems connecting to your wireless printer.

I have included a document with steps on how to change the printer to a USB connection to a wireless connection. It has a paragraph for Mac OS X Lion mountain/OS X v10.9 Mavericks v10.8. The second option in this section is how to move from the existing USB connection.

  • Photosmart C4780 "cannot find the wireless router.

OK so apparently I'm not as tech savvy as I like to think of myself. I just got a used C4780 and spent 12 hours trying to figure how to set up so that I can print wireless. I had zero luck with that.

I read that the WPS connection method is more easy then I tried that first. After a few failed attempts, I tried to download the software for Windows 8 (as the disc that comes with it only goes to to Windows 7). I got the same error message 4 times (something Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime error), so I then tried the method of the PIN code. After several settings (with the help of my brother on the phone, so I don't really remember what I did unfortunately) just as many failures to connect and I gave up this process.  I printed the 'Network Configuration' Page and the 'wireless network Test report", but I don't have much of a clue as to what it now means. I don't understand what I am doing wrong or what I could do different. The thing that really stumps me, is that the test report said that the printer can't find my router, but at the bottom of the Configuration Page, it lists my wireless network...

    USEFUL/IMPORTANT INFO:

    -HP Photosmart C4780

    -Lenovo all-in-One 8.1 Windows 64 bit

-J' installed all the updates that are available for Windows

-J' restarted the printer, computer, router AND several times

-my wireless router is in another room, but not more than perhaps 20 feet away

Side note: I have also a mini iPad... just throw it out there in case it might be a better tool to put up with... If you need to know something more to help me let me know! Thank you for cause in advance that I'm going stir crazy trying to figure this!

Copy + paste directly from their Web site.

It's OK... you're using their product.  they can always put the Bridge mode.  Call them and tell them that you want to use your OWN router and they put it in Bridge mode.

EDIT - Bridge mode just turns off the router part and use it as a modem only.

  • Once I connect my Photosmart C4780 to my wireless network, I lose everything internet.

My router is a Netgear WNDR3700v3 with firmware version V1.0.0.22_1.0.17.  I can get internet to work on my HP pavilion dv7 with windows 7 64 bit, my smart sony TV, my xbox 360 and a phone that I connect to my wireless router.  The second, I configured my HP Photosmart C4780 wireless router I lose internet on all devices.  I can connect to the router again but can't get out to the internet. What would be the printer could prevent me from accessing internet?

We will set an IP address of the printer:

-Print a the front of the printer Network Setup Page. Note the IP address of the printer.
-Enter the IP address in a browser to reveal the internal settings of the printer.
-Choose the network tab, then wireless along the left side, then on the IPv4 tab.
-On this screen, you want to set a manual IP address. You must assign an IP address outside the range that the router sets automatically (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') 250
-Apply the subnet 255.255.255.0 (unless you know it's different, if so, use it)
-Enter the IP of your router (on the Page of the Network Config) for the gateway.
-Enter for the first DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for second DNS.
    -Click 'apply '.

Now, stop the router and printer, start the router, wait, and then start printing.

After that, you will have to redo 'Add printer' using the new IP address.

  • HP Photosmart C4780 connects not (wireless) on Mac or wireless network

Sorry for the long post, but please someone help me!

I bought my new printer a few days (actually 14th) and began to implement on my MacBook Pro with my Wi - Fi, which is routed through a Linksys router and mainly through my desktop computer (a PC with Windows XP). I used the CD that came with the printer to set it up on my Mac and it has set up the fine by USB, but when I try to set up the wireless, I get the following message:

"Device not connected: to configure the network settings for the selected device, please connect via USB temporarily." The device can be disconnected from the USB once the network settings are transferred. »

I reconnected and got the same message over and over again, so I decided to set up on my desktop computer instead. This does not work either and I got the same message on my desk I have on my laptop. Uninstalled on both computers, reinstalled and I STILL got the same message. Once again, the same message. I tried the network installation of push, the installation of the network PIN, I feel I have tried everything! • HP C4780 cannot connect wireless

    Hello

I have been using my C4780 for the past two years wireless but now it has just stopped working. It still works pretty close through a USB port, although oddly it sometimes loses the connection.

It happened just before getting a new router but I didn't have the time to sort before changing on routers.

I use Cougar 10.8.4, all system software are up to date. I'm on a Homehub BT 3.

    Help, please!

OK, try the option button. There should be an option on the router that says "WPS button"

You can go here first, before do you. Menu > wireless Menu > push button

OK, let's check some basic first things.  Are you printer connected to YOUR router or your PC?  Print a Test of the network wirelessly from the configuration > network area of the front of the printer.  There, it will tell you the name of the network to which it is attached.

Compare the IP address to your printer.  Is - it the same, except the last numbers?

  • Problem with the HP Photosmart C4780 connection after moving

When I try, an error message indicates that the IP address of the printer does not match the one on the PC (a Windows 7 32 bit). How can this problem be solved? Thanks in advance

From the front of the printer: [Scan] Setup > network > network by default.

Now run the HP software to add your printer (start > all programs > Hewlett-Packard > C4700 series...)

    Hi SteveMacH,

I understand that you have a printer Photosmart C4780, have changed wireless routers and are eager to connect to Mac OSX 10.9. I will definitely do my best to help you with this.

Because there is no full software functionality to connect your printer with OS X v10.9, we take a slightly different approach to get the printer connected to your router again.

First what you will do is to restore the default settings of network on the printer. For this, with the printer on the main screen, tap the button next to the analysis, then the button next to the wireless Menu, and then select default network. After 5 minutes, please proceed to print the Network Configuration Page, and this will give you the IP address into the browser (which will be explained momentarily).

At approximately 01:19 seconds into this video, the person shows how to connect to the network printer you will. Then continue with the video to enter your IP address in a web browser. Your embedded Web server should look very similar to that of the video. He teaches to put in everything manually, but you should have an option to simply run both Wireless Setup Assistant, and I would say that the road if it is available.

Once the printer is connected to your wireless network, you can stop watching the video. Now you can connect your Mac to your own network (you just connect the printer). After that click on the Apple icon, go to System Preferences, open Print Scan and proceed to add the printer using the symbol +.

Hope this helps, have a nice day!

  • Where's MAC address for Photosmart C4780?

    Hi people,

I'm implementing this Photosmart C4780 with my wireless network that uses MAC security screening. Can someone tell me where to find the MAC address of my machine? It must be 8 digits with numbers and letters, possibly separated by a colon.

    Thank you!

Well, to answer your question, it can be found on a network configuration Page or test wireless network, as well in the configuration > area of the network control panel.

Now, please recognize that MAC filtering is NOT a security measure and can cause problems with the installation of the printer.

    Read more about it here.

I would recommend filtering MAC do not hide the SSID and simply apply WPA or WPA2 with a password strong.  You will be safer than you are now with much less hassle.

  • Cannot connect my Photosmart C4780 to my network wireless (home)

    Hello

I searched this forum and tried to solve my problem, but none of the elaborate suggestions.

    I have a Photosmart C4780 and am under OSX10.8

Recently, our internet provider changed our wireless router and our SSID. As a result, the printer that is connected to the original network and properly functioning has stopped working. I tried to connect the printer to the new network, but failed. He said now that the printer is connected to the hp network (something) and I can't change it for the new SSID.

Could you please tell me what to do? I have installed the software mentioned in the HP website, plugged the USB cable into the printer to try to set it up, but it says that the printer cannot find any existing network (although I'm next to the printer and connected to the intended network wireless)

Fact a little kind of hard-reset on the printer can be a good strategy? How can he do?

    Thanks in advance

    Pedro

PS: The printer works correctly when printing via USB

PS2: It is not an option to return the SSID of the router to the previous

    Hi @pedroa

You say "I have installed the software mentioned in the HP website", but there is no software for the compatible with 10.8 c4780. Mountain V10.8 OS X Lion: installing and using the printer on a Mac with the Mountain Lion.

As you know, this printer has not a wizard wireless version in the front panel instead us would typically connect the USB cable from the printer to the computer and run the installation wizard.

Because you have 10.8 on Mac, and it there is no full feature software and drivers, you won't be the configuration wizard, to configure the printer. You may be wondering now, well how can I set up then?  Good question, we will restore the default network printers and the printer will have its own IP address designed for whats called an Ad-Hoc connection (wireless router). We will put the computer on the network printer and then print a report to get the printers IP address. At this point, we can access the built-in web server (EWS) and run the wireless from there. Once the printer on the network with the router, we can put the computer on the network and vuala that the printer and the computer will be on your network.

To restore the default network settings - since you have done this before I guess you know how, but for others who can see the message, here are the steps

    1. Press the wireless button
    2. Select wireless settings
    3. Scroll and select default network.  Press Yes to recognize
    4. The radio turns off (the blue LED turns off).  You may need to press the wireless button to turn on wireless

Put the computer on the network printer (temporary)

    1. click on the symbol of the airport on the upper left side of the screen Mac
    2. choose the network looking compared to the printer (we could say a variant of the name of your printer or HP setup) - it may take a few minutes to make it appear

Print the wireless network test - wait a few minutes to make sure the computer have established an ad hoc connection, otherwise the report will not have an IP address

    1. Press the Scan button (it also the wireless menu button)
    2. Select wireless settings
    3. Testing wireless access, then select.

The wireless network Test prints, search and note the IP address.

Open a browser (Safari) and enter the IP address in the URL (address bar).

Click on the network, on the left tab, click on wireless or 802.11.

At this point, we are looking at fore 'start the wizard' should be on the right side.

As soon as we will have to set up the printer to your network, you can put your computer on your own network.

Now you can add the printer in system preferences and print

Please let me know if that fixes the problem, thanks.

  • Photosmart C4780 installation fails at the "system cannot find the file specified."

My problem began simply with your printer, a HP Photosmart C4780, who has always had a wireless connection and would not print.  Initially, the checked network connection fine control panel of the printer.  I ran a Microsoft printer troubleshooting, which found a block in line print and authorized.  The first test page print, but did print the "internal test page.  I did not understand what it meant, so I looked for help on the HP site.

I ran the HP print and Scan Doctorand he suggested I have reinstall the driver.  I have downloaded and saved the current HP (PS_AIO_06_C4700_USW_Full_Win_enu_140_175.exe) and then uninstalled the existing driver.  When I tried to install a new, a window pops up saying "the system cannot find the file specified," with only a single box for click that simply says "OK".  The installation went through 'examining installation options', after entering "check updates, download updates, install updates" and then it was all in "audit system", who jumped out of the window "file not found" upwards, and when I clicked 'OK', the installation window as well as the error message box simply disappeared.  Which I suppose is the path to the file is under the window, but it didn't fit so he showed not the end.  What I read was "C:\Users\... \Local\Temp\7zS588E\Setup\.\Setup\hpzpnp40...»

I found a topic on the same printer model for the same problem in the forum, which offered this hotfix:

You must first complete a level 3 of the software uninstallation. I've included the steps below to do this.

    1. press the Windows key and the letter R
    2. type %temp%, and then click OK
    3. open the 7z folder (a more recent if there are multiples)
    4 open the util folder
5 open the folder of the ccc
    6. double-click on the Uninstall_L3

Once you have completed the Uninstall_L3, delete all of the items listed in the temp folder. Note, you will not be able to remove all the elements, please ignore those that do not. Then please empty the trash and perform a clean boot. I've included the document «How to perform a boot in Windows» If your computer does not request it, restart your computer.

Once your computer is back, you must reinstall the printer software. You can do this either by using the Setup CD, or by downloading the software.

I did what was suggested, until he got to the point where it says it was the case recommend not removing any more items if I had intended on using the HP Officejet printer (Yes, I have a second HP printer connected to the network) anytime in the future.  Not really understand how it all works, I decided to stop what I was doing, so unfortunately it has not solved my problem.

Do I need to uninstall both printers HP before I can reinstall a?  And if I do that, is there a reason that I wouldn't be able to reinstall the two printers?  Looks like I'm asking trouble.  Bottom line... I can not install the driver.

I tried to install the full versions and the driver base and still get the same result.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 - 3100t for computer laptop, running Windows 7 Edition Premium, version 6.1.7601 family service pack 1 64-bit.  I have not installed new hardware or software.  This printer has always had a wireless connection.  The router I'm using is a Netgear 54Mbps WGR614 v6 (provided by my cable company) and the network includes not only my laptop and the Photosmart printer, but also desktop ASUS, HP printer, an Officejet 6300 series (used only for printing graphics and photos via a wired to the router) and a chip on Vizio TV.  I use Norton 360 first Edition and disabled the antivirus auto-protect when I downloaded and tried to install the driver.

Help, please!  And thanks in advance for your time and your attention.

Oh, Jamieson, it worked!  I can print again!  A massive amount of thanks and congratulations to you.

I couldn't believe it when he actually passed the point where it normally would stop the installation, but then almost at the end, upward jumped «Fatal error during installation»  My excitement sank into a depression.  He said while the installation was not successful and he needed to collect information in order to diagnose the fault.  I looked at what has been collected, and it was more or less gobblety-* beep * for me.  There was a code of 19714722 error condition, if that means anything.

Then he placed on my desk, the "Error of Installation HP - Windows 7.hta" file and instructed me to do away with the current window, restart, and then open the file and move forward with these guidelines.  I did and he basically had me to restart the computer once again, and then turn the printer off, unplug the printer, then unplug the router, wait 30 seconds and then plug the TAA - DAA and back in, I'm back in the business of printing.

Thank you very much for your time and patience.

All the best to you and yours!
