HP Probook s 4540 cannot start - sometimes

I found that my Probook s 4540 sometimes cannot be started. I have to use the trick applied to 4530 s: remove the battery, press the power button to 40, turn on the adapter. Sometimes the trick works, sometimes it does not.

Is this a bios problem? Any solution for this?

Well have you tried reinstalling the memory? The computer is working since you have upgraded the memory? Are also that memory chips the same speed? If your two running different speed of chips, it could cause this problem.

Thank you

Sean

Brand new Probook s 4540, B7A48EA #BED, of the box. Memory 4 GB DDR3, 500 GB, processor i3, SUSE Linux disk.

I have install the battery, connect the power supply and turn on laptop. Linux installation started, got the message 'creating recovery root tarball' and wait, wait and wait with the same message of Linux. I rebooted the laptop and after that got Linux message 'Cannot find size info part of recovery' and restarted itself, every 120 seconds.

I turned it off, by pressing the power button / stop 5 sec.

After that, I can't turn on laptop. When I press the power button / stop, power, drive, browser and Flash of LED wireless, you can hear disc trying to turn but fail and all the lights go out and about 2 seconds later all lights flash once again, drive tries to spin but fail again and laptop does not start.

I have 'power reset', updated the BIOS (F.40), removed the drive and DVD drives, tried without battery but no change in behavior. I returned the drive and the original DVD. After removing the memory, portable lights, as if, and caps lock flashing of LED 3 times which means error memory. After that, I did a "reset power" once again, reinstall memory and try to start the laptop. After pressing the power button / stop at the beginning I had same symptoms I described, and after 2 portable seconds began. I installed Windows 7 Pro. Laptop computer can be restarted Windows, but after stopping, he can't press start button to start / stop.

One way to start is to move the memory in the other slot, but it cannot start after his stop. After his return in the first memory location can be started again until the next stop. And when start, does not start from the beginning, but after 2 seconds, for his second try. The BIOS memory test, the EFI system diagnostic and memtest86 has errors. I tried with different memory module but got the same symptoms.

    Should I change a motherboard?

After replacing the motherboard (systemboard), everything works.

  • Tecra S5 - adapter to display cannot start - Code 10

    Hello

I have a problem with my laptop (Tecra S5 series).
Every time when I start or restart my laptop, the screen moves too slowly, it has yellow bands and sometimes is flashing.
When I open the Device Manager I see the graphics card (NVIDIA Quadro NVS 130 M) with yellow circuit with a brand extension. When I go inside it is said: the device cannot start. Code 10.

Then I have to go Safe Mode, uninstall the drivers for NVIDIA Quadro NVS 130 M, reinstall and restart. I noticed that when this video adapter is OK, so I don't have problems with my laptop screen.

    Can someone help me?

What operating system do you use?
I put t know since when you have this problem, but if this happens again and again I recommend you to install original OS that you got with your laptop. It contains the original, including the display driver drivers, and something like that should not happen.

Any help would be great - thanks

    Wayne

Well, the system on the HARD drive seems to be corrupted.
Who knows why, but it happens sometimes, it s nothing unusual and, therefore, it s always recommended to backup the data always

The files are not lost, but you are not able to start the unit.

    What you can do?
Well, you can grab the laptop again.
By using the HARD drive recovery option (press F8, repair my computer, drive HARD recovery) or by using the recovery disk

But this will format the HARD drive and you will lose data.
If you want to get access to the data, I recommend booting of live CD WinPE and BartPE.

  • HP ENVY m6 1206 TX: cannot start Windows (8.1)

The other day I wanted to turn my computer off and let it, because I was in a bad mood and wanted to get awy and do something else. But when I went to click on update and stop, I clicked on update and restart. I more wanted to leave everything to rest because he was for a long time on the computer. But I waited for the update that stopped on 27% for a long time, after going quickly through the others. It probably would have been fine, but I was imptient and took the incredibly stupid decision to force the computer to turn off because I was tired. The next time that I turned it, Windows wouldn't start.

When I try to start the computer, it says:

    Auto repair

Your PC did not start successfully

So, I can either tap on restart to restart my PC that it can sometimes solve (this isn't for me). Or go to advaced options.
In options advanced > troubleshooting, I can update my pc without losing the files but that fails.
Then options are more advanced. I can do a system restore, but there is none. Same thing with system image recovery. Starup repair fails. Command PROMT... I don't know what to do. Even with the settings of the UEFI firmware. There is start parameters also right up. I don't know what to do with them.

In a quick test of the system, everything going except Hard shore short check the DST, who said the warning. No info was given, which doesn't really help.

I can do with these options that could help? Or should I send repair? Or, if the reset in advanced options option is different to the first, what should I do? I doubt that it is the same because he says that I will lose all my files, whereas it would appear to the other literally just restart the computer.

    Thanks for any help.

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post on your PC is no longer to leave and wanted to help.

The description of the problems you are experiencing generally indicate one or two of the following ways:

    (1) defective hard drive
    (2) damaged/missing bootloader files

Already, you did the second and said that has not fixed the problems.

And you have already received errors on the first.  To confirm the status of hard disk, please follow the instructions in this link to test your hard drive: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00439024

If that confirms that your drive has failed, then you will need to replace it.  Please report back if this is the case.

If the drive has failed, you will need replace it and order the HP recovery media to restore your PC to a working state.

As for recovery, onlu Refresh keeps the files; the other delete files - so before you make them, you must save all the files and folders you want to keep.  If you cannot start the PC enough to do this, you would need to remove the drive from the PC, buy a USB-to-Hard-Driver adapter, connect the drive to another PC and copy files and folders there.

    Good luck

I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.

  • Cannot start hardware

    Hello.

Recently I tried to synchronize an e200 V1 to my PC via USB, and as soon as I plugged in the USB, I got a popup window asking to install the equipment. I have completed the installation, but ended up getting a message saying "there was a problem installing this hardware: MTP device.» This device cannot start. (Code 10) "at the same time, the screen on the e200 simply shows 'connection '.

Is someone can you please tell me what the problem might be (firmware/hardware related)?

  • Cannot start Windows on first boot (works after restart)

I recently removed the dust in the housing using a bellows, at the end of which I had unplugged and removed by the drive hard and video card. After reinserting the components and start the computer, I heard a continuous beep sound while the screen remains dark. After the reopening of the case I noticed that I forgot to plug a wire into the video card (PCI I think) I plugged. After you start the computer again once it wasn't a beep more and I got the video. However, Windows does not load on first boot more. He will go as far that the loading screen of the bar after which I get a 'no signal' and the computer restarts. I will get a screen with the message that Windows cannot start, probably due to software or change of material and a number of options. When I choose to start windows normally it will mostly start normally (sometimes I need to repeat the process) and I can use the computer normally (I use it now). A reboot, the computer has been shutdown very slowly and later wouldn't pass the default splash screen, but it has not reoccured.
Another small issue, I'll have is a regular of the screen flicker.

I used the drive control to the start of several times. I tried to address this problem by starting the computer with the Vista installation disc and select Repair, but I was not allowed to fix the menu says there where no problem. I reinstalled Windows (and I can't be fully updated all the drivers again, hance perhaps the flicker of the screen?), but to no avail. The closest thing I've met on the internet who resembled my problem was this: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=1006011905618 so, I replaced the BIOS battery, which once again changed nothing (BIOS holds settings BTW). In fact, once I'm on Windows I would seem to have a computer that works very well. The issue doesn't bother me so much if I wasn't worried, that it could get worse.

I have Vista 32 bit, Intel E6750 CPU, card mother Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3, Geforce 8800 GTS 320 MB video card, 2 GB of RAM, Samsung 400 GB HD Vista has been entirely updated (including SP2).

    Hi CeCoRM,

I suggest physically wipe you the hard drive again by blowing air earlier could have pushed the dust particles away on the inside.

I would recommend also you post your question in the TechNet forums for assistance.

    Hope the helps of information.

  • Software device driver has not been installed successfully. __This device cannot start (Code 10).

I am running Windows 7 on a HP Pavilion a1600n and sometimes in the last month the CD/DVD drive stopped recognizing DVDs and CDs. It is opening and closing, and turn the disc when I put them in the drive, simply do not recognize anything beyond that.

The State of the device reads that this device cannot start (code 10).

From what I could find online code 10 was a general hardware error. I tried switching to another Cd/DVD drive and even changed the cable to the inside to see if it was the error, it was not. When I plugged the DVD/CD drive second he tried to locate the drivers online and and informed me it software device driver was not correctly installed. I tried to find some kind of solution online, nothing helps. If there are some ad where this has been previously resolved for someone else and you could point me in the right direction, or if you have a solution to this problem, please help.

    Hello

    First do a hard reset.

Please go through this Hotfix from Microsoft for the error you are getting.

Please uninstall & update audio driver & BIOS after checking, you have such version specified in the site pilot here on the website of the HP product . Reboot after that. Do the troubleshooting in the Microsoft Fix document.

When you're done, shut down the laptop.

Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.

Robinet tap away at the key ESC that you start the computer to launch the Start Menu, and then select F10 to open the BIOS menu.  Press F5 to load the default values (sometimes it's F9, but the menu below indicates the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press ENTER.  Press F10 to save the setting and still use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press on enter.

    Check if its working

  • Update interrupted - now cannot start Windows

    Hello

Completely new to this forum and in the world of the system recovery / technical questions will therefore be very grateful for any help that you can offer but please keep clear answers.

I am running windows 7 on a Samsung laptop about 3 years. During the last weeks I had problems with the battery. When not plugged in the laptop sometimes turned off and the error messages pops up saying occasionally replace the battery. I now only use it plugged into the mains. However, yesterday, when I tried to stop, windows installed updates and the wall socket, broke off. To my horror, the computer turns off so that the update (1 of 31).

Now, I can't start windows. See below what I tried so far without success.

Tried to load Windows normally. Key start-up windows screen and then error blue screen and restarts.

Tried to select recovery at startup option. Through repair screens. Asked if I would restore the system to an earlier era. Tried by selecting Yes and no at this point. So yes, message says not able to repair and asks if I want to send an error message. In the absence, said also unable to repair.

Tried to start in safe mode. As above - will from the screen windows and error, then blue and restarts.

Tried to insert the Samsung recovery cd. When the computer starts. Press the key to load from cd. This goes to a windows install page (select language, etc.). Seems to be saying that if I do that I'll lose files?  So not go one more away.

Have you tried pressing f8 and repair different, but process as well as above - unable to repair.

I myself am kicking to not fix the battery problem, but I never thought it would happen. In any case, I have a recent backup of most of the files, so not a total disaster, but I would like to save some recent if possible files. The only other option I see is to remove the hard drive and buy a USB connector stada (?) and try to transfer as an external drive. How difficult is cela and what connector do I need? Understand you can not recommend a product, but is there something specific I should look for, and what are the differences between the cheapest and most expensive? Are there more reliable / brands of higher quality that I should look for? Also, if I do this, can I then replace the hard drive and reinstall windows, and it's going to work?

I have no knowledge of the BIOS so not sure I can try relating to the recovery of base?

Will be very grateful if someone could help it. I can post more detailed error codes / logs later when I'm in front of a computer if you need.

    Hello

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Community and your efforts to resolve the issue is highly appreciated.

According to the description of the problem, you cannot start your Windows 7 computer. This could be if there is a corruption of system files or boot files are missing or damaged.

I suggest that you want to run auto repair with installation media and see if it helps you repair system files or not. For the execution of the task, I suggest you to try the steps below and see if it helps.

    Method 1

When you use the recovery environment (Windows RE) to troubleshoot startup issues, first try the Startup Repair option in the System Recovery Options dialog box. If this does not resolve the problem, or if you have additional problems manually, use the Bootrec.exe tool.

Because you cannot start the computer, you may need to create a bootable Windows installation media, and then do an auto repair, and if this does not help then you try to restore your computer to the previous date.

Note: When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

If you are using Windows 7 then the link provided below might help you to download and create installation media.

Download Windows 7 Disk Images (ISO files)

    Method 2

If the problem persists, try to rebuild the BCD by using the Bootrec.exe tool. To run the Bootrec.exe tool, you must start the recovery Windows (WINRE) environment . To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Place the Windows 7 installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
    2. Press a key when you are prompted. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next.
    3. Click repair your computer.
    4. Click the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
    5. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click command prompt.
    6. Type Bootrec.exe, and then press ENTER.

See the following link for more information:

How to use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows recovery environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/927392

Hope it would help. If problem persists always post back with the current state of your computer and the result of the proposed suggestion, we will be happy to help you.

    Kind regards

then the screen changed to say prepare to set up windows (while I was getting a large piece of paper to write it down in my computer I went back to what is normal for my computer open) he says treatment auto - VGA - the screen is black for 2 seconds and my office is open and functional.

    Hello

    1. have you successfully install the update?

    2. are you able to connect to the desktop without any problem?

Was the message you saw before Windows starts, the system applying these updates. This is a normal procedure that Windows takes above all the critical updates are applied. If you were not able to start Windows, then we might have a problem with Windows update.

Regarding your second yellow exclamation on the wide area network WAN miniport, you need to update the driver for the network adapter.

The Code 10 error applies mainly to the problems of hardware driver and devices or compatibility problems between the drivers of equipment and additional software that is installed in Windows. Therefore, we recommend that solve you these problems with emphasis on device drivers, configuration of device problems and hardware compatibility issues. You may need to update the chipset drivers and the network adapter.

I suggest you run the automated FIXIT from the link below and.
